What do you know about the world you've found yourself trapped in? Next to nothing.
You are a lonely person, whether that means you simply avoid people or that you've lost everyone you're close to. You come from any time period present or past, you come from anywhere in the world. You're incessantly creative. An inventor, a scientist, an artist, you have a need to make something, to discover something. This leads you to be curious at the worst time for it:
You were curious; too curious. When the whispers rang in your ears you answered, and they led you into a slow descent into madness and the occult. Whether it was imagining voices in the radio which told you to build a special door, or voices in your head that inspired you to try to summon pure shadow, or something else entirely, you made the mistake of tempting the shadow creatures. You made the mistake of playing right into their game. The dark hands slithered from the shadows, struck, and dragged you into the ground with them. As the shadow hands drag you away you hear the sound of a music box, and a long shadow with the absence of darkness for eyes watches you slowly sink away. That's all you remember before you come to deep in the forest with a dark man standing over you. What does he say?
"Say pal, you don't look so good. You should find some food before nightfall. Don't starve."
You're scared of him immediately and just as soon as he says this, he disappears into the shadow of a tree. You don't see him again for some time. You're more focused on picking possibly poisonous berries off a berry bush, and avoiding the creatures you for some reason know are called beefalo because you don't know yet they're only dangerous when they're in heat, and making axes so you can chop down enough wood to build a fire at night. As darkness closes in each night, your sanity begins to drain away, you can feel a deep monster in the shadow, you know if you let your light source die, it will be upon you. The only way to restore sanity is picking flowers and sometimes sleep or standing close to the pigmen which camp in the grasslands of this place. But is sleeping safe? Probably not.
When our story starts, you've been alone for 20 days in the Insanity. You've set up camp or tried to explore this awful place. If you've explored, you've found that this world is seemingly endless, and that it may very well be an island but there are no beaches, at the end of the world, there are only inhospitable cliffs down to a dark ocean. There are terrifying creatures made of shadow that stalk this world and as soon as your sanity starts to slip you can see them. Most of the time, they don't attack. They skitter past in your periphery and the shadow hands return some nights to take your fire, and you have to rebuild it before it goes out. Sometimes the hounds, the black or blue or red wolves, come for you and you must make spears or take your axe to them. You're starting to forget what home looked like.
You've seen skeletons and graves here, you've seen monsters, rabits, birds, pigmen, giant spiders, and beefalo, but you've yet to see another living person inn the Insanity besides the dark man who greeted you on your first day. And then you meet the others. There are five of you altogether, none of you know more about the Insanity than the last person, none of you know why you're here. So do you choose to trust the strangers in this strange world, and attempt to discover why you're here or what this world really is, or do you decide to go it alone when winter is probably just around the corner and the world just seems to be becoming more hostile?
Either way, the priority, first and foremost? Don't starve.

What year and place did your character come from before they were dragged into the insanity?

Each character has three scores; Sanity, Hunger, and Health. As a DM this makes it easier for me to figure out how much your characters should be hurting in any given field on any given day. You'll have a bassline max stat of 150, 175, or 200 in each stat, so choose what your character is best at. For example, a character with a statblock like "Sanity: 200, Hunger: 150, Health: 175" is going to go insane slower than other characters, but starve quicker.

iv. reserves last for 48 hours. Please have a WIP up by then. I understand work and school but do realise this is a small roleplay which I'd like to fill quick.
v. we'll start as soon as all roles are filled. I don't anticipate a lot of interest in this roleplay, so should there only be enough for three additional characters (besides mine) we can start then. If by some miracle there's more interest than roles I'll add a spot or two.

viii. rape is off limits. period end of story. the DM is an assault survivor and wouldn’t like to read about rape

x. I’d like to see at least a strong paragraph, if not more than two. I want a relaxed roleplay, but I don’t want a lazy one.

A person with 200 health can't raise above 200, and is probably much less likely to die of damage than a person with 150 health. A person with 200 sanity can't raise above 200 sanity, and is probably much less likely to go completely insane than a person with 150 sanity. The same is true of hunger.

By year I'm assuming you mean age? I'm thinking early twenties. I was also considering making her nonbinary? Since you've put a ban up and I know, an overly large number of females is not great.

I think it depends on how active you can be while overseas; I can't hold a spot for you until the fifteenth, but if you can have a character/WIP up within two days and complete it thereafter, as well as showing at least minimal activity in the roleplay while overseas, then it won't hold up the roleplay and we can have you.
