It wasn't the building itself - it was actually pretty beautiful, she concluded, and rather charmingly old-world. Better than their Middle School had been - all steel and new-fangled modernness that made her head and eyes ache. But it was what the building stood for..
Although she wasn't outright rude to people, Yumeka had never been very social. She was awkward with people and never actually liked most of the ones who had approached her. There was also the fact that she stood up for anything she believed to be unfair, earning her a lot of enemies ....
But even through all of that, she had managed to gain three or four friends in her eight years of junior and middle school. Unfortunately, they had chosen to go to another school - the one in the next town, Ashikawa High. She had been offered a place there too, and her parents had wanted her to go there as well. But truth be told, Yumeka had spent her whole life admiring this school, where her elder sister had gone, because of its quaintness, and she had fought tooth and nail to get in here.
Ah well, lets just hope for the best! She let out a deep breath, trying to smile. At least this building was friendlier than the last one.
I hope I get to meet some nice people soon ....

"Oh, my class? Its 11C." she answered one of the girls' question - Tanaka, was that her name? Who cared? All she cared about was getting to her own class and settling down, but she couldn't do that because she was afraid what they might think of the foreign newcomer if she did that, Why couldn't she just have stayed in her English boarding school?
She hated this school. It was too Japanese-y and reminded her of her father. The reason why her life was all screwed up in the first place.
'Fuck him' she thought again.

'11C?' "That's nice... I have always been in C division."
At least that hadn't changed.
She ducked inside her classroom. Crowds always unsettled her. They were so noisy and loud and jostling...
Letting out a sigh of relief, she fistpumped. "SAFE!" before realising someone else was already in the classroom.
Uh-oh ....
"Ummm." she tried. "Ummm...." Dammit, this wasn't a time for her to freeze up like this! She seriously hated her selective mutism at times like this.
She settled for heading to the very last desk by the window. She was a straight A student, but she preferred to be out of others' sight, because she often stayed up late at night reading random books that caught her interest or simply playing video games or listening to music, and as a result spent half her day at school napping and spacing out.
Placing her books and pens neatly on the desk, she stared out of the window, admiring the clouds and the trees that shook with a slight breeze just outside the periphery of the school.
'What a beautiful day ... I love days like these.'
",...you! Hey, you!"
She snapped out of her trance as a girl slammed a pamphlet in front of her, disarranging her books and making them fall all over.
"Wanna join the Home Economics Club?" she barked at her, ignoring the mess she had just made.
'I did think I would join something like the Home Economics or Craft Club ... but ...'
"No, thank you for the offer though." she smiled brightly, but someone who knew her well could easily tell the smile was strained and tight. She didn't like this rude person at all, which was why she decided on the spot that she would never join the Home Economics Club, even though it had been one of the four clubs she had been taking in consideration, along with the Literature, Music and Craft Club. "Now if you will excuse me, seems like I have a little mess to clean up."
With that she bent down, retrieving her books from the floor.

She hated this country. Alright, not the country itself, but the fact that it had driven her mother to abndon her.
Back to matters at hand...
She nodded at the girl beside her, talking excitedly about some club or the other. If you asked her, it was just stupid. She couldn't make herself get that excited about a simple school club.

Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw a group of girls enter the classroom, giggling and chattering excitedly, and sighed. She seemed to be sighing more and more lately ... Ducking her head in her book, she prayed for the Teacher to arrive quickly.
'I sure hope the other clubs will have some nice people ...'
Because it was a rule of Nami High that you have to join at least one club. That was why she was trying to find a suitable one in the first place, because as much as she enjoyed baking, books, craft and music, she would much rather not be involved in a club. It took up too much of her time, as she had experienced the one time she had tried out one in junior school.
She had quit after all of two months, deciding that clubs just weren't her cup of tea, and had never tried getting into another.
Which brought her to her dilemma...
Her attention shifted as the door opened and more girls poured in. What, was this a girl's school or something? She rolled her eyes, wondering how she had been stupid enough to forget about it. Oh yeah, the segregation method. Girls went to the Nami High Main building while boys went to the Kokyou building across the road, farther down the street. Why they came up with such a ridiculous arrangement, she would never understand or know, and it didn't matter. To her, it was all the same. Boys or girls - she wasn't going to mix with them if they were so mean and noisy.
Snorting inwardly at how childish she sounded, she pretended to be absorbed in the book, while spacing out, trying to discourage any of them coming up to her and repeating the incident with the girl before.

"There's my classroom! See ya guys later!" she called out to the girls with her - whose names she had all forgotten, except for one little girl named Airi, who reminded her of a rabbit, before hurriedly entering the class and imemdiately scowling.
More chattering ...
Her eyes, casually roaming over the class, stopped at a girl seemingly absorbed in reading, sitting by herself in the last corner bench. Strange, she could already tell the girl was actually not reading, but glancing out of the corner of her eyes at the large window beside her.
Interesting.
Sherry walked to her, forgetting her esolution about settling down without talking to anyone as soon as she was in her class.
