Ea quickly headed back to the inn where her group was staying at and said: "Hey guys! I found a job. Kill a monster and we get 100 gold pieces!"

He was still contemplating this dilemma when she returned. Belen tried his best not to flinch. A pretty young thing that hid a beast that could wipe out villages if left unchecked...that was his current, and most powerful ally. His disgust was overshadowed by his need for money, however, and Belen looked at Ea pointedly.
"So, I kill you, and get one-hundred gold?" Belen smirked and shrugged. "Not an easy task, but by no means an insurmountable one. An arrow through the chest, or an arrow through the eye, dear Heart?" he asked. Although his tone was friendly enough, he was only half-joking. He hated what Ea was, her very nature repulsed him. That thing's kind preyed specifically on humanity. The only reason Belen was half-joking was because he knew he did not stand a chance against Ea unless there was at least twenty feet between them. He'd have no trouble pinning her down despite her speed at that range. Anything closer than that, however, and his head was hers.
Belen shook himself out of such grim thoughts and nodded at Ea. "Have you met with the employer yet? Did that bill have any specifics on this monster?"

Unfortunately, to really enjoy a fight, she needed to be challenged, to be pushed to her limits; the problem with that was the lack of that. There were plenty of enemies that this body of hers couldn't handle, but she didn't feel like she was pushed to the edge. She felt like she was holding back and tried to use more power, and that usually led to her dying for no apparent reason. That was a real problem for the first several thousand years, when she just kept killing herself by accident over and over again. She had mostly gotten the hang of it by now, and she managed to draw some joy from battle by convincing herself the amount of power this body could withstand was her actual limit, but it still wasn't the same.
Even more annoyingly, the usual routes one would take to quickly gain great power, like making a contract with a demon, were closed to her because she wasn't really a mortal. Her body was the same as that of any human, but her soul was not. It was even more frustrating because her inability to access her powers was not part of the seal, which she would have found some way around eventually, but a law of nature: if the body couldn't hold the soul, it died. It would have been fine if she could free herself for any noticeable amount of time this way, but no, somehow her soul was always bound to one body or another. Her only hope was to discover a way to break the seal, but what could a mortal hope to achieve?
"How is it that I'm the one drinking, but you're the jerkface?" She posed a rhetorical question to Belen. His attitude towards Ea pissed her off. Sure, it was understandable, but did he feel compassion for cattle when he ate? Besides, Ea was a demon, so Beleth felt some sort of kinship with her. Normally, they would be no different than an average human and their deity, but due to certain circumstances, they ended up much closer, and it was hard to remain completely indifferent to people you traveled with.
"Killing a monster?" Chaos asked as one of his minions entered the inn and made an announcement. Wouldn't killing it be just mean? But he did need some funding for his world domination campaign, and a hundred gold pieces was not a small amount by any means. Would being mean be justified if it was for the sake of EVIL? Maybe so, but still... "Do we really have to kill it? Aren't there other ways?" Chaos tried to think of any alternatives. Not to any of his surprise -he was EVIL, after all- he came up with one almost instantly.
"How about I convince it to join you among my minions? Would that not solve the problem?" He could use some more minions, too. The ones he had now were a good start for his legion of minions. They had their faults -Most were rude, for one- but they were good minions in the end. Still, he needed more than just them. The monster might be a good addition. The word 'monster' just screamed 'EVIL'. Maybe it would even be polite.
Chaos made a small nod as he decided on this course of action. Like any incarnation of EVIL, he would try to convince the monster to join them. Just like he had convinced the minions he had with him now in this inn.

"All monsters die...details don't matter all that much..." Zenin says to the rest of the group as he sits back and takes out a whetstone to sharpen his dagger. "One hundred pieces...twenty each...not too bad a deal..."
In truth Zenin didn't much need money. As an rogue who favored assassin work he could easily sneak about and acquire whatever he needed at a very high discount. And of course should that fail, well, he was an assassin. There was plenty of blood on his hands already, and he was sure there would be more before his last sun sank behind the clouds. But, of course, he had no idea of knowing when that might be, given that his race didn't age after a certain point...they just died. Suddenly. Actually, he was looking forward to it a bit. After handing so many souls over to the shadow he often wondered what they were like himself.
"When do we start..?" he asks, looking around from one member of the group to the next, his cold eyes shifting from their usual dull grey to a deep red with the idea of spilling blood now on his mind.

Then the was the next person who bugged her: A guy in dark plate armor who though he was evil but rather didn't seem that way to Ea. Ea then came close to him and whispered to him: "You know. If you call me a minion one more time, I will eat you alive. I would enjoy hearing your screams of agony and you would want me to end your life immediately, just so you can come back to a resurrection shrine pain free but I will just keep you alive until I find it had been long enough." That was typical of Ea, friendly in one moment, creepy and sadistic in the next. If it was one of her "friends", she would at least warn them, but if it was some bandit, she would kill without hesitation.
"Well anyways, after asking around, I found out that the monster always comes at night, wreaks havoc in town and then disappears. There was this old man who said that it was what the town deserved after being responsible for the death of a boy and girl and leaving their older sister to die in the wilderness. Maybe the older sister could be a witch who is seeking revenge against the town and has an ogre or so to attack it?" Ea said sitting down on a chair. "Well anyways we have not long until dusk and 20 gold pieces is enough to get some equip and food for a week."

Suffice to say, he was disappointed. It slipped his mind at times that this was not the most orthodox group in Silvera. Another beauty, Beleth, decided to side against Belen and his jibes at Ea. Again. He did not dignify the warlock-whatever with a response. As far as he could tell in the short time that he'd known Beleth, the woman was human. She had issues controlling her power, but that was to be expected when channeling infernal energies. Stereotypical of her kind, Beleth proved an egocentric, arrogant woman with a bag of shit mysteriously in place of a soul. Belen smirked to himself. It would not be so far fetched to suspect that she sold her soul and was duped. Still, it irked him sometimes that through it all, she was his type.
Chaos and Zenin were not much better. Chaos, was another arcane magician that though stumbling around in heavy armor was a good idea for some reason. That alone was cause enough for Belen to think the man a fool, but the entire time Chaos did so, he spouted nonsense about evil. Belen swore that if the man acted on as much as he ranted about, the world would be a living hell. For now, that hell was confined to Ea's Adventurin' Partay. Zenin...Belen shrugged. He liked Zenin well enough. The man was a decent blade and a better sneak. Zenin was the closest thing to a friend he had in the party, and they barely spoke.
Belen snapped his fingers and looked back to Ea.
"Decent hypothesis, but the two events could be completely unrelated. It could be a coincidence, or some creature could be taking advantage of the timing to blame 'the ghost girl's revenge' for its own mischief." Belen looked like he was about to say more, but cut himself off. He didn't feel like starting something again with the Monster, and simply nodded and arose. Belen exited the inn and proceeded to a small shooting range that the sparce town militia practiced on. He would spend his time until the mission the only way he knew how.

"You can't convince a monster. They aren't technically capable of rational thought." Beleth told the man who called himself Chaos; the poor guy was obviously not all right in the head, but he was entertaining enough. "Although, most people tend to call everything other than themselves 'monsters'." She wondered if saying that even had a point. No, probably not, but then again, pretty much anything a mortal could do in their lifetime was pointless, as far as she was concerned. The few exceptions were... well, she couldn't think of anything off the top of her head and decided to finish her ale instead. It wasn't the best she had tasted, but at least it wasn't the worst. Besides, the taste wasn't the point; it's just that alcohol affected her human body in a way that made it easier for her to cope, making complicated thoughts disappear and mundane ones seem more important.
She sighed a bit; her group was hardly the most friendly out there. They were all pretty much total strangers who met by chance and decided to unite their efforts towards a better future for each of them. Surely enough, each of them had a reason of their own that they had yet to share; hers was the presence of Zenin. It wasn't anything idiotic like love, naturally. The young man was a doppelganger, a creature who could copy others body and soul, metaphorically speaking at least. Whether he could actually copy someone's soul was something she had yet to find out, but even if not, there was a chance her key to freedom lied with him.
"It doesn't really matter what happened, does it? We are getting paid to do a job, not find out the truth." Beleth shrugged and stretched a bit. She should just focus on the job, everything else was unnecessary. In fact, it wasn't unusual that looking too much into things would not only leave you without a reward, but also make your original employer want to shut you up. "So, are we gonna wait for it to come to us, or what?"

So far, this group seemed to be divided somewhat. Ea and Beleth were both demonborn, well, in a way. Ea was a flesh-eater, Zenin knew that much as soon as he had seen her teeth and the attitude shifts she had at times. Beleth, while human in form, was like himself in a way. On the outside he seemed human enough, kept up the appearance of one at least, but inside he was...nothing. Did he even have a soul? No one had been able to tell him. She on the other hand, was something else, something very dangerous, he knew that much at least. He had encountered his share of demons, having crossed half a continent to get this far, and while she didn't look like one, she shared their tenancies. Those two fell into one category. Belen and himself fell into another, not just because they were men but because they were warriors, seekers of blood, and with a dark past each. Zenin hadn't learned much about the other man, but he could smell the blood on him, see the same eyes he must surely have.
And then there was the being known as Chaos. Zenin didn't know if he was human or demon, or something else, but he was...different. His heavy armor and spells clashed against one another, and he had heard others of his race use the term 'sun-touched' in reference to such a person. If he was really as evil as he claimed then the world would be a different place, and befriending monsters wouldn't be on his mind.
"Humans tell tales to shine the light on the shadows..." Zenin states as he puts the whetstone away, "If they cannot explain something, they fear it, and when they fear it, they tell themselves stories to make everything seem better..." He spoke calmly, as he always did, his blade sinking into the leather sheath, hidden at his back. "Monster...ghost...whatever creature this 'Monster' might be, I suggest we be ready..." Standing up he gives a slight bow to the others before making his way towards the door of the inn, planning on following Belen to the range to keep his blood pumping before the fight to come. "I would also like to add a saying...weather you stay in one place or move about, if are meant to fight, then a fight will find you, prepared for it or not..."
With that he strolls out the door and heads towards the range, looking around the town as he goes, checking out good locations for a surprise attack, or where he might easily blend into the shadows. Should the monster be of similar size, he could always change his form to match it in an attempt to surprise it and maybe keep it distracted long enough so as not to drag out the fight too long.
He turned his attention to the others after reaching what could be called a conclusion. He realized that they'd been talking while he had been immersed in his thoughts about politically correct -and EVIL- vocabulary. He didn't remember what they had said, since he hadn't paid attention, and he didn't want to inconvenience them by asking them to repeat themselves. Well, not that he could, since Belen, one of the minions, stood up and left the inn. Chaos stared after him for a moment, EVILly. Belen was, while sometimes a bit blunt, not a mean person. A good addition to Chaos's EVIL legion. Though there was a source of great bewilderment to Chaos regarding the man. He sometimes showed signs of having poor eyesight, yet he used a bow as his weapon of choice. He had never quite understood how Belen managed to hit his targets with that kind of weakness. And he didn't want to pry. All EVIL had its secrets.
Chaos shrugged -causing his armor to screech as the metal parts ground together- deciding that it did not matter what his minions had said. After all, they'd be the ones doing the work, and would know what to do. He trusted in them completely. That was the essence of EVIL. Trustworthy minions and a wise overlord. He was certain that none of his minions would disagree about him being wise.
He pulled his bamboo drinking straw out of his now empty ale mug and signaled the innkeeper for a refill. He pulled a small silver coin out of the pouch tied at his waist, so that he'd be ready to pay when the drink arrived. While waiting, he glanced towards Beleth, the other person in the group who'd been drinking ale. She was a powerful minion indeed, capable of many, many things. However, it was a sad fact that she was, by far, the least EVIL of all his minions. Well, there was a chance that Chaos might be able to teach her the true meaning of EVIL some day.
As his refill arrived, Chaos realized that he actually had heard something that Beleth had said, and remembered what it was. "I still do think that I should approach this monster first and try talking to it. Even if I fail -though I highly doubt it- I'd give you time to prepare to attack, if necessary. I really do need to make my EVIL legion greater."
As he was saying this, another of his minions left. The one called Zenin. He was a bit odd. Chaos always thought that his way of speaking was strange. Maybe he'd hit his head at some point. But that aside, he was very useful. As rude as sneaking and disguising oneself were, they were very useful abilities for a minion to have. So even though Zenin was odd, he had a place within Chaos's EVIL legions.
Chaos leaned back, drinking his ale through the straw. He had some thinking to do. Not about the monster-recruiting -he'd leave the plans to his minions- but about the important matter of what he should call the members of his legions, since Ea took offense at the use of the word 'minion'. Maybe he'd discuss it with her if she had some free time.

"Hey Chaos! If you are looking for a word for me, you are to call me "fellow adventurer" or if you don't see me as an equal then call me "mistress" due to you being lucky that I hadn't eaten you yet." Ea said with a sinister tone.
There were booms in the distance as if something large was coming at them. The faint voice of a girl was to be heard. Ea took a look outside and saw a wide shadow overlooking the town wall. The monster must have been 10 or 15 meters (30 to 45 feet) tall. As it came closer, this is what Ea saw. In the distance, Ea heard "Brother, sister. (Nii-chan, Nee-chan.) in a desperate female voice. "See it have something to do with the poor girl." Ea said with a grin on her face.
"Strongest stuff we have here, a mix of bamboo, tea leaves, and cocoa beans" He explained.
The mage took a long pull from the drink, instantly, everything seemed suddenly sharper, instantaneously kicking him awake. Another boom rocked the inn. He paid and dashed out the door, having to adjust his scythe to get it to fit through the frame. He was met by Ea, and a giant...thing that looked vaguely human, but to be honest, the man didn't know. "Ea? What in God's name is that thing!" He pulled the scythe off his back with ease. His hands were engulfed in a yellow light and his scythe shifted into its supportive form. He waited for Ea to make a move before he made his.

It would be suicide to start firing blindly, Belen assumed, if that creature was as strong as it was large. He didn't count on it being anything other than physically powerful unless its head was full of hot air. Instead, he muttered curse. "Ea...it'd be nice of you to provide some cover for me!" Belen called out to the women still inside the inn, "Not all of us have the luxury of being as strong as an ox!"
An arrow let fly as he spoke, streaking towards the thigh of the giant's left leg. If the creature had as much human anatomy as its warped form suggested, there was bound to be a major artery near the point where leg blended with head. Of course, given its massive size, it would take a lot more than one arrow to get through that flesh. Belen knocked two more arrows and fired at the same general location before darting in to a dark alcove where two buildings met. Hopefully, he thought, Ea and Beleth would grab its attention while Yauz and Chaos got to work. "Wait," Belen whispered to himself, "Where in the hells is Zenin?"

Upon reaching this height he can see the approaching creature, and right away throws out the notion of shapeshifting to distract it. Any form he took would only reach the shin of the creature at best. And so he fell to his old, reliable blades. Were he of another race he might have named them by now, that was a tradition among such races as humans and orcs he believed, but alas, the only value his kind saw was that of money and lies and blood. And in this mindset Zenin draws his daggers, turned so that the blade tips pointed towards his elbows, and waited for the giant to move closer...closer...closer....now!
Running across the roof, quick as a rat in a barn, he dashes to the edge then leaps off, landing on the shoulder of the giant shortly after Belen had let loose his arrow. From such a height the world was a different place, but that was of no account to the assassin. Taking a step back, and stabs his blades into the back of the monster and uses them to slow his decent as he slides downward, leaving behind twin trails of crimson, like some off tribal tattoo, at least until he reaches the creature's hip, where his blade leaps and he is forced to pull them free or lose them. And so he falls to the ground, tucking and rolling upon impact, ending up between Belen and Ea. Quickly he gets up into a crouch and looks from one to the other, offering only a slight nod.
Not very long after he had left the inn, he spotted the cause of the noise. It was definitely not hard to do so, considering how gigantic it was. A humongous monster, one that looked particularly EVIL, was being knocked down over and over again by Ea, but was seemingly unharmed. For some reason, it reminded Chaos of himself. It would make an excellent addition to his legion.
Full of determination, Chaos walked up to the monster. "Greetings! I am Chaos, the EVIL overlord who sha-" He started giving his speech, but was interrupted by a very large foot coming at him at a high speed. A moment later, he was moving away from the monster in a magnificent arc, soaring through the sky... Or, well, he was not that high up, but his flight was certainly magnificent.
He hit the ground with a very heavy thud. He did not feel pain, of course. No true EVIL felt pain. Nor did EVIL have broken bones. Probably. Or bruises. His heavy armor, with its outer hard surface and its inner padding, had protected him from most of the damage. And since he was EVIL, the rest of the damage was definitely not something that could break bones, or anything of the like.
After a moment of lying down where he'd landed -his own choice, obviously, since EVIL is never immobilized by pain- he stood up slowly. Being as EVIL as he was, and having had things like this happen to him several times before, he'd grown used to it. After checking that he was still as EVIL as before -he was definitely not checking for broken bones- he headed back to the monster, walking a bit more slowly this time.
As he came back to the monster, he started his speech over. "Greetings, I am Chaos, the-" And he decided to fly away in a graceful arc yet again. This time, his landing happened inside the inn he'd been in earlier, managing to go straight through the roof, through the upper floor, and straight onto a table at the ground floor, breaking it, obviously. It was the same table he'd been sitting at. What an EVIL turn of events.

"Well, do whatever you want." She shrugged when Chaos insisted on expanding his non-existent legion of evil. It was kind of funny watching the man stumble around; he was somewhat incompetent, but his conviction to the cause was praiseworthy. Unfortunately, his idea of evil was further away from reality than she could ever imagine possible, and she would know. "So how are we going to go about-" Beleth began to ask after hearing some sort of ghostly moaning outside, but everyone just seemed to run or walk out on her. "Oh well." She shrugged, returning her attention to her ale. The mug was halfway empty; she smirked as it reminded her of the age old "half full half empty" argument. It actually described her outlook on life quite accurately.
It was quite noisy outside, and it didn't take a genius to figure out the reason for it. That is not to say she was stupid or anything. Deciding it would be a bad idea to let her companions take on the ghost or whatever all on their own, the young woman stood up and stretched a bit. She was just reaching for the mug on the table, intent on finishing it on her way out, when a loud crash from above distracted her. "What the f-" She said into space as Chaos came crashing down on the table. Needless to say, the table and the mug standing on it were both crushed under his weight. The ale itself was a liquid and thus escaped the same fate; unfortunately it spilled all over the woman. She glanced at the heavily armored man for a moment before slowly heading outside, all in a dead silence.
The creature that sent her "evil" teammate flying was quite different from what she imagined. It was bigger than she thought, but also not quite as monstrous, more of a sick joke than anything. She quickly assessed the situation; four of her companions were standing aside in a loose crowd, and it seemed as though they have already managed to hurt the creature a bit. Beleth hastily made her way towards them with a "laugh and I'll kill you" look, stopped next to Zenin, brushed a hand against the side of his dagger and licked the creature's blood. It tasted horrible, just as expected, but she wasn't in a mood where she cared. Following that she grabbed her own dagger and cut her own hand, making blood trickle.
"You're gonna get it now." She growled quietly and swung her hand down. The drops of her blood that separated from her hand caught on fire in mid-air, and as if in response to that, blood streamed from the wounds Zenin left on the creature earlier. Beleth felt a bit dizzy; a spell like that was at the limit of her power, and yet it would take some time to incapacitate the monster nonetheless. Still, she felt satisfied at the sight and smell of her enemy's blood, and a twisted smile adorned her face. "Distract it a bit will you." She dropped to her teammates, concentrating on the spell.

Then, his scythe switched to offensive form. The first spell was a siphon one, he personally took some of the monsters life and converted it into more energy, but it didn't look like it was affected. He rolled to the left dodging a giant fist from the monster. Yauz then cast one more chaos spell, a muscle corrosion one. The scythe glowed a sinister purple. Sadly, he needed contact with mister for this to work, so he rushed in and took a nice big piece of her back, right across the steaming wounds. However, the mage was tired now, but he pushed on. He cast a spell that would immobilize the hulking...thing. He pointed his still purple glowing scythe at the monster, uttered a few words, and acidic chains sprung forth and locked the monster in place. He knew that it could bust through them, but hey, it was was worth a shot. "Should anyone go check on chaos?" He yelled over the commotion.

Belen was waving his bow around like a fool trying to keep on that one spot while his allies kept it rooted. Drilling arrows in to that particular patch of flesh was difficult enough without the beast weaving around like a drunk! The archer was about to give up and start shooting at whatever he could hit when Yauz turned the tide. When the strange mage's magic flowed over Belen, the effects were immediate. Belen focused once more on the creature where three arrows protruded from its flesh and smirked; he could make out every detail down to the texture of the thing's skin, and he found his aim as steady as a machine's.
Guided by his newly augmented sight, Belen launched three arrows in the span of five seconds, all drilling in to the same exact spot, pushing the preceding projectile deeper in to the creature's blue hide. Belen drew back to fire again when a surge of blood gushed from the deep wound he'd inflicted on the beast. With Yauz keeping it pinned for a moment, the wound was allowed to open further before the monster could retreat or regroup. In moments the street was slick with blackish-red blood. Belen grinned. "Guess there was an artery after all." as an after thought, he added, "I don't think you'll be getting any Chaos-Shanks tonight, dear Heart."
Of course, it was still a supernatural being. Losing an absurd amount of blood would definitely cripple it, but there was no guarantee that it was dead. Of course, Belen noted, the other wounds should help too. The beast was scored by a combination of Zenin's daring dagger strike and Beleth's blood magic, blistered and weakened by Yauz, and probably had some internal structure damage thanks to Ea's hammer. The sudden, massive blood loss was likely the denouement.
Belen suddenly glanced around. Chaos, he hoped, was not too rattled by his ordeal.

There was no time to wonder as the creature lumbered forward. Belen holstered his bow as he fell in to a sprint down the alcove he'd been using as cover for just such an occasion. The archer ducked, rolled, and leaped as he wove his way through the narrow alleys between the buildings. He thought to use the creature's size against it, but it was simply too massive. The sound of crunching glass and splintering wood told the tale: it was crushing buildings and closing ground in its ponderous pursuit. Belen loosed a series of curses that would make a convicted criminal blush as he cleared the last alley and dove back in to the street.
A cursory glance around told Belen that the beast was slowed, but still coming. Townsfolk cowered in their hovels and made futile attempts to board windows and doors as the great beast rounded another corner and entered the street as well. By that time, Belen was already halfway back to his group. The archer almost stumbled as he took a sharp turn at full speed. It took a brief moment for the scene before him to register, and even less time for him to call out to Beleth. "Woman, I'll buy you five bloody rounds of ale if you blast this freak to Kingdom Come!"
Belen barely managed to wheeze out the words as he barreled down the street, true fear gripping his heart as the creature closed within ten paces of him. Despite it's comically mutant appearance, Belen had no doubt it could mash him to paste without slowing. Hells, his heart might give out before it catches him at this rate.

Nodding, Zenin stands and cracks his neck just a moment before Yauz cast his speed boosting magic. Rather than thank the mage, seeing that Belen was now the target of the beast after it had been taken down only to stand back up, the assassin slips into the shadows, appearing a few moments later on the roof once again, though this time he slips from shadow to shadow across the town, following Belen from on high. When his chance comes he leaps onto the giant as it closes in on the archer, landing on the same shoulder, but this time he digs his blades into the creatures throat, his hands a dark, bloody blur as he slashes at arteries, opens the windpipe, and does as much damage as he can before he gets sent crashing to the ground, the monster having thrown him at Ea.
The crash had done a fair deal of damage, as, after all, the doppelganger had no armor to speak of. Sitting up, coughing up some blood, he looks over at Ea and sighs before saying, "Flesheater, I could use some rest. Feast on my broken body if it will let you destroy this creature...I've no fear of the shadows, nor of pain. Go on, be quick about it!"
In his current state, Zenin was broken and useless. If he were to die and be resurrected, he would still feel the pain, but he wouldn't be useless to the group anymore. He'd have to meditate on why exactly he'd made such a choice later though.
Chaos closed his eyes while listening to the sounds of the somewhat one-sided fighting going on outside. His minions would be able to do the job. After all, with his great leadership, his peerless tactics and the grand inspiration he gave to his minions, there was not even the slightest chance they would lose. So he could take a moment to rest.
Moments later, he was once again in the Castle EVIL built in the Mountains of EVIL, sitting on his EVIL throne in the EVIL throne room, surrounded by EVIL minions. They were all singing the praise of their EVIL overlord, living happily under his EVIL rule. And since they were happy and EVIL, Chaos was happy and even more EVIL. Chaos wanted to bake cookies for his minions, to thank them for all the EVIL they had done. But he should first participate EVIL feast they had prepared for him before starting to make food of his own.
It was obviously not a dream. To doubt its reality would be like doubting Chaos's EVILness, and, well, that would be just plain ridiculous.
He opened his eyes after a while. The fighting was still going on outside. Chaos thought about trying to convince the monster one more time. He began to slowly, very slowly, stand up, without feeling any pain. After he'd finally gotten up to his feet, he started towards the door of the building. On the way there, however, he felt a sudden urge to sit down. It had nothing to do with how someone's knees might theoretically be in pain from being practically broken. He sat down onto a chair close to the exit, and raised his hand to signal the cowering innkeeper. "One mug of ale, please", Chaos said, pulling out another silver coin. After some hesitation, the innkeeper brought him the drink. Business was business, after all, giant monsters rampaging outside aside. Chaos pulled out his bamboo straw and began to drink while watching out the window at the battle that was still going on.

Re: Dungeon Crawlers
I was debating on leaving the roleplay too. I love the idea you put in the Intro, but so far this has been nothing like it. It has been fun, at points, but you've made your own character way more OP then you let on that a character could be made, and that creature was way too over the top for a first encounter. I sacrificed Zenin hoping to have things end quickly afterwards, but with what looked like 6-8 posts after that it looked like that was more or less for nothing as well.
Having said all of that though, I do think this can be a good roleplay. I'm sticking to it, for a while yet at least, but you need to tone down everything, and give us more info on what's going on. I know as the GM you can have whatever happen, but even so, our characters will have knowledge of the world that could help and might know at least something about what's going on.

Re: Dungeon Crawlers
I was on board with the biting comments and disregard for the happiness of the party and whatnot, up until the first encounter turned out to be a freakish Japanese myth creature...then the onii-chan and onee-chan...then the whole putting the battle on rails. It was made painfully clear that we would not defeat the monster until your character got to eat one of us.
I mean, it's cool to set objectives that have to be completed in a certain way, I do it all the time, but forcing other rpers to take a backseat is kind of suckish.
Soooo...yeah. I think i'm dropping out. Somehow I feel worse about announcing it than if I had just silently stopped posting. *shrug*

Re: Dungeon Crawlers
Anyway. I haven't posted in a while, and here is the reason. This is far from how I imagined this thing, and I just don't feel like continuing.
Most of it is quite enjoyable, but then there's the part where we get ridiculous over the top OP anime physics, and that really doesn't sit well with me. I could get over it, but what's the point when everything that happens seems to be for the sake of emphasizing how special a particular character is?
Sorry guys, I'm out.

Smith wrote:It did not take long to find Ea's mess. She'd blasted the beast in to a depression in the town square. Belen scoffed; she was mindful of property damage? He stopped near Yauz and Aurora, trying to catch Ea's eye as she wailed on the monster.
"So," Belen said, flipping one of Zenin's daggers, "You knew then. That fire would burn it down?" it was more of a statement than anything. There was no room for dispute in his tone, as he figured the situation was plain enough to piece together, even for the child-minded Aurora and Chaos. "So you could have gave the order for fireballs, firebolts, lightning blasts, heat waves, fel-flames, bloodfire, any of the thousand-thousand fire spells that Chaos and Beleth could muster between themselves from the very beginning. You could have...but that wouldn't have been fun. Is that it?" Belen absently wiped off some of Zenin's blood that had rubbed on to his tunic. "You needed an excuse to eat someone, so you conveniently left that part out."
A stare, dark and accusing, was all that passed between Belen and Ea for a moment. He looked askance at Aurora, but he had no words for her. It would have been easy to admonish her for her blatant tardiness, but she was was easily the weakest magician of their party. He doubted she would have done much of anything anyway...
:o.......*stare*......

Also, was my post not seen, or did Ea ignore Belen, or what's up with that?

And I think bandits would've been a lot better for a first task. A lot easier. Plus, bandits are classic. (;
EDIT: Never mind about editing. Just gonna.. write up a post in helping bait the monster. Okay.
