Introduction
It’s funny how the Human species has strained for so long to understand evolution and to even push it forward. When it truth, they were just too ignorant to see their own species growing right in front of them. Those who were lucky enough to evolve were cast out, called a freak or mutant . They were scared of evolution. Or jealous their genetics did not take the next step.
Humans are looking at us freaks are a genetic mistake. A flaw and the perfect Homo sapiens DNA. It’s just a flaw that we can use more of our minds apparently. Stronger and faster than a human. Some of us are even gifted with other abilities that we can’t really explain. And because of that, the homo sapiens have begun to hunt us freaks to see why we are flawed and how to fix us. Well I say fuck that. They are the flaws and the next step in evolution is here and we will not be put down by our inferior species.
I am Phoenix, and I am the next step.

Freak looked up and sighed. His face then contorted into confusion. The clouds seemed to be moving...yes, they were moving--spiraling, in fact. A tornado. He watched as the spiral touched down to earth, spreading a thick fog in the air. The fog hit the three Mutants with a cold chill, blocking vision for more than three feet.
Freak realized he couldn't see the two others anymore. "I-Infection?" He said the name loudly, praying they didn't ditch him. "S-Spook?"

"Listen freak, you are in no position to make threats an-" His threat was cut off by his own pain scream. Around both his legs were iron snakes, tightly wrapped around his legs so they could crush on command. "By declining my offer, you have sentenced yourself to death." The S.W.A.T. member dropped to his knees as Jack did the opposite and rose up from his position. "Damn you mutant! I was supposed to take you alive, but it seems you won't go willingly." With one final attempt, the man fired his rifle, randomly shooting at Jecht who just clenched his metal enveloped hand so the two iron snakes would crush the man's legs, and before the man could scream for one second, he was silenced by a blade through his throat.
Without any remorse for his kill, Jecht walked out of the alley, his iron hand cracking into a million pieces before touching the ground. "Now, if I am lucky, this mist will prevent any more attacks." The mutant held his hand firmly on his shoulder, blood slowly dripping from the wound that was made by one of the randomly fired bullets. It took a few moments longer for Jecht to make his way to the park, the fog was not only effecting the hunters it seemed. With little view left, Jecht wasn't sure what to make out of the three figures that vaguely appeared in the mist. Enemies? Or friends? Or both...
"I guess this is a test if luck is still on my side..." Without further hesitation, Jecht stepped closer to the three figures even with a closer view, the images were still vague. "Non hostile mutant coming through!" He yelled it out just loud enough for the three figures to hear, hopefully they weren't enemies...

After what felt like an hour to her, a dense fog rolled in. Anything around her turned quickly to steam. "I did it," he coughed, pushing himself up to his feet. "I've covered the nearby streets in fog. That should be a good enough cover for everyone to escape. Get us out of here." Without pausing Phoenix turned and wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and kicked hard off the ground, her wings beating against the air around her. With every flap she man, the ring of fire grew and burst outwards to push the on coming humans back. Straining Phoenix finally felt the air under her wings and she took off flying straight up into the freezing Buffalo air. Her body was over heating even for her so she was sure Isaac wouldn't get cold but his wet skin in contact with her hot skin was a strange sensation that produced a stream of steam behind her as she flew.
Angling her wings, Phoenix headed to a tiny 'nest' she build encase of emergency for herself. It took her about 4 minuets to get there and once she landed she fell to her knees and wrapped her arms around herself and gasped in pain. The bullet was still in her chest and every breath she took hurt and a small amount of blood gushed out. The entire front of her shirt was covered in her blood and sweat as was Isaac. Her arms were scratched up from the debris of the explosion and from a few bullets. Looking up at Isaac Phoenix smile a little, "You alright?"

Looking up at Isaac Phoenix smile a little, "You alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," he gasped in response, pushing himself up to a standing position. "Just a little bloodied up-" Isaac froze. He hadn't been hit with anything, had he? His shield had protected him during the explosion, and nothing had grazed him when he was meditating earlier...
Isaac whipped around, gasping in shock as he saw Phoenix's bullet wound. "Why the hell are you asking if I'm okay?" he cried, his calm facade shattering in an instant. "You're the one who's dying here! I can get that out, hold on." Isaac gathered sone surrounding snow and melted it, super heating the water momentarily to sterilize it. If he was going to treat the wound, he'd have to clean it. Once he was ready, he collected the water around his hand and went in-
Wait.
Isaac's face immediately flushed red as he realized where the wound was. The entry wound was in her lower chest, dangerously close to her... "Um, I k-kind of need your permission to treat the wound..." he stuttered, his face getting even redder. "Y-you know, because..."

"Non hostile mutant coming through!"
The voice startled Spook a little as he swiftly turned his head in the direction it came from. He breathed a sigh of relief when he realised that it wasn't another wave of trigger-happy soldiers. "Good to know. I'm right over here!" he called back to the fellow Mutant. When everyone was close enough to be seen in the fog, the former scientist voiced his opinion of the current situation. "As you all know, standing around is not going to be safe for any of us, especially when we lose the cloud cover," he began, his voice becoming more serious in tone. "Luckily, I have a plan. It's not much, but bear with me, people. Basically, we just stick together and get the hell out of the immediate area. Who's with me?" Allowing his grin of questionable sanity to return to his face, he stared at the other people as they made their replies.

Not much of a plan, but it's a plan. Freak nodded, agreeing to the said plan. Freak then realized something: he couldn't feel his toes. Or his feet. While the others gave their answers, Freak tried to move his toes on the flip-flops, with much difficulty. This discomfort went broadband, as a human twenty feet away complained that he couldn't feel his toes.
Freak's hand shot up like a kindergardener with a question. "Can we go somewhere warm? I can't feel my feet."

Well, Jecht's answer was clear, he would rather kill every human that dared capture him, but a large amount of blood on his hands wasn't something he thought to be useful. He gave a small sigh before speaking up. "So, in general, you three need some place safe from those bullet freaks. I can give you that kind of shelter, my home isn't that far from the park." Jecht held his left hand firmly on his right shoulder, turning around to make his way to his borrowed apartment. If they really wanted a safe house for the time being, they'd follow him.

For while the Imperator did not listen to the orders of any man or mutant he did figure that enough of a distraction had been created to have allowed the others to escape. And after that, there was no point in sticking around any longer. The lone van that Imperator had not destroyed suddenly accelerated and after running over several of the agents who tried to scramble out of the way in shock reached the Imperator. The mutant raised a hand and gave the crowd of agents the finger before climbing into the back of the van. With his power he controlled the swat van and it accelerated once more as bullets pinged off of it. What chase could have been made was ineffectual and help could not be called for as the Imperator had already destroyed the other vehicles and the radios. His laughter echoed off the inside of the van as it sped away. It was pitiful how pathetic the humans were without their precious technology and the Imperator had been given much to laugh at on this day, much to mock the humans for.
However the Imperator had failed to recruit any more mutants to his cause thus far in the day and this disappointed him rather greatly. He had only a few remaining followers and those who joined often failed in some way and fell victim to the agents. It was not his fault they failed. No of course not, it was their own. But the lord of the "Glorious" mutant revolution was tired of failure and as the thrill of the fight faded he began to plan what would have to be done next. Gallagher was a key, the head of the cursed agents. So was this Phoenix who in pure power had the potential to match even himself, her joining him and aiding him were necessary, which meant he had to find her. It was fortunate that the Imperator had in sparing the electrical systems in the van also spared the cellphones of the officers who had been inside of it.
The armor that had descended from the crystal spines flowed back up his body to once again vanish into the faintly glowing crown of spines atop his head as he mentally commanded the phone to call another number. The phone rang several times and the Imperator's face began to contort in annoyance before finally the ringing stopped and a nasally whining voice answered it. "Who is"
Before the voice could continue Imperator began to speak. "Tracker you got away, good. Did any of the others follow you out?" The voice was as always commanding and spoke in such a way as to demand obedience.
"My lord forgive me, the others did not follow and scattered."
A wordless sound of rage issued forth from the Imperator's mouth before he continued. "Can you sense Phoenix, I require this of you Tracker."
"Yesss my lord, but faintly." The nasal voice whined. "I can find her for you lord Imperator as I always do." The voice broke off for a second as the sound of heavy breathing replaced it. "She and the boy who controls the water they are hiding in a what used to be a warehouse several miles east of you my lord."
"You have done well Tracker, return to the others and wait for my commands." The Leader of the revolution terminated the call and then his spines glowed slightly as he commanded it to make a second one, this time there was no delay and the phone was answered nearly instantly. "This is a recorded message, we at the Sunrise Inn are sorry but we are currently closed please call back later."
Imperator frowned and spoke loudly into the phone, "Traitor stop the shit, and put Vorsachs on now."
"Yes lord Imperator" The voice seemed to change as it spoke each syllable sounding like it was pronounced in a different accent. There was a pause before a different voice "What do you wish of me?" The new voice asked.
"I am in a swat van here." At the Imperator's mental command the phone sent over the coordinates of his location. That would be enough like it had before the mutant was certain. Unlike so many who could teleport Imperator had found one who could actually go somewhere without having seen it. It was very useful to have such an individual in his employ. "I require you here." And the call terminated. For a moment the Imperator sat waiting before the van was filled with an ozone reek and another man sat in the back of the van as well.
This man was thin and bony, nearly emaciated and was completely covered in a black hooded cloak of sorts. "My lord" The mutant's voice hissed out and he lowered his head in respect.
"Vorsachs. I am sure the swat are tracking their van and will be here momentarily. Transport us to this location, just us not the van." The Imperator showed the coordinates that tracker had provided to the cloaked and hooded mutant and the thin stick of a man reached out to grab the Imperator's arm. The world distorted within the van and when the distortion faded no one remained inside.
The "nest" where Phoenix and Isaac had taken refuge was suddenly filled with an ozone reek as Imperator and Vorsachs arrived. The Imperator took in the sight of the injured pyromancer and his face hardened in distaste at the situation. He spoke and his voice for once sounded less of command and more of helpfulness. "Boy, Isaac, my associate can teleport all of us to my current residence, one of my employees is skilled in healing and can handle her wounds, the agents will track you down here and she is in no condition to fight again, I can provide safety for now."

"Yeah, I'm fine," Isaac gasped in response to her earlier question. He pushed himself up to a standing position and looked himself over, "Just a little bloodied up-" Isaac froze. Isaac whipped around, gasping in shock as he saw Phoenix's bullet wound. "Why the hell are you asking if I'm okay?" he cried, his calm facade shattering in an instant. "You're the one who's dying here! I can get that out, hold on." Phoenix kept her arms wrapped around the gushing wound, trying to keep her body temperature down as not to melt the metal which would be very bad for her if that happened. "Um," Isaac mumbled, "I k-kind of need your permission to treat the wound...Y-you know, because..."
Phoenix looked at Isaac and saw that his face was a bright red and she looked down at where the blood was coming from. The wound was very close to her chest. "List, Isaac. I don't give a shit just get this thing out of me before it kills me." Before he moved forward she heard the Imperator's booming voice.
"Boy, Isaac, my associate can teleport all of us to my current residence, one of my employees is skilled in healing and can handle her wounds, the agents will track you down here and she is in no condition to fight again, I can provide safety for now." Phoenix turned her body some to look at him but winced as she tried to turn her torse.
"Sorry to interrupt and I know you are trying to be helpful. But could you bring the healer here? I'm teleported once and it didn't go well and I kind of have issues with it. If that wouldn't be too much trouble thanks."

Isaac nodded in response, taking a deep breath and readying himself. He had never done anything like this, but how hard could it be, really? All he had to do was clean the wound, get the bullet out, and hold back the blood until he could get some sort of bandage on to keep the wound together. That would be a piece of cake, wouldn't it?
Isaac was snapped out of his thoughts by a loud pop, followed by the acrid reek of ozone. More SWAT? he thought, the water enveloping his hand shaping itself into a sharp blade and freezing in an instant. His weapon in hand, Isaac whipped around, ready to strike, only to find himself staring into the face of the Imperator. [/i]Oh, it's just him,[/i] he mentally sighed, allowing the ice to thaw and drop to the ground.
"Boy, Isaac, my associate can teleport all of us to my current residence, one of my employees is skilled in healing and can handle her wounds, the agents will track you down here and she is in no condition to fight again, I can provide safety for now."
Isaac gritted his teeth. "Phoenix is too weak or transport right now," he replied, having regained at least some of his composure. "She was just-"
"Sorry to interrupt and I know you are trying to be helpful. But could you bring the healer here? I'm teleported once and it didn't go well and I kind of have issues with it. If that wouldn't be too much trouble thanks."
"I think that's our best option," Isaac agreed, looking back to Phoenix. She at least seemed to be holding out all right, so they seemed to be in the clear. "Phoenix, do you think you'll be able to hold out until the medic gets here?"

"Jecht!" Freak called after the man. "Slow down a little. I can't keep up with my frozen feet." He gave a cough, following the best he could, but still stayed ten feet behind the leader. He felt as his little toe began to feel...warm. Freak was a bit confused, but knew that it couldn't be a good thing.
"Um...are...are we almost there? 'Cause my feet kinda feel warm now..." The feeling had now spread to all his toes but the big one. "...that's probably not good."
