Marina Lenoto

I heard all of the other mermaids whispering. It seemed as if gossip spread as quickly as the currents.

"Sunzaik Orb found? Of course not."

"It's true!"

"Shh! Someone will hear you!"

"What? It's not like Nexis troops are actually here!"

"Well, why don't we get some information from the sailors?"

"It's been 30 years. How can that help?"

I began to role my eyes. It was probably just another rumor spread by the idiots under water. I looked up as the ripples above my head began to chop together.

"Looks like trouble!" I heard, Secara, the head mermaid tonight say. "And, Marina... try not to feel sorry for the Nexis sailors like you always do. We might have the orb." I shot Secara a look as her sparkling blue fins twirled through the water and devlish eyes gave me a wink. My skin began to prickle. The wooden boat above us began to rock as the other mermaids pulled up to the edges. Then, the murderous song started as they chanted through the night.

"Hello my little sailors,
won't you come and see?
Our pretty little fins have grown lonely..."

"Why don't you listen, through our little eyes?
We speak our language of kindness.
Not of despise."

"Antrentaloo rezera acoota mentaloo?
Rasenzay a rentaz play a shika monta du."

The last line was Unza, or mermaid language. Each night we attacked the poor humans that roamed the southern waters of Serakin. The sailors of Nexis would be happening to pass by, and the mermaids would help this cruel war by pulling them in, and drowning the sailors to their death. Ok, and they knew there were mermaids in the waters. Trust me, I knew because they thought they could escape the hypnotic beauty and voices we capture- but they couldn't escape it. I've never wanted to take part of this, but I was always forced to by my own kind. Luckily I'd let my hostages escape on the coast of Serakin, where other dangers lurk. My "friends" didn't like that to much. I floated behind the boat as I hummed the song to myself. My head turned to the side to catch a glimpse of the screams that belonged to the humans who were arriving death's door. The hisses of the mermaids filled the air as their eyes turned to an icy white and webbed fingers sprawled to clasp onto the throats of the victims. Blood floated upon the ripples and I could feel the jerky movements below me of someone drowning. This was in fact, a usual night. I swam to shore to escape the terrors of death as my pink tail swished back and forth and my blonde hair floated with the current. I began to think quietly. "Peace? Never. If only I could get out of this water... I would help return Algonzech Cube and bring back our precious Sunzaik orb." Only time would tell.

~Unknown Island~

A man with broad shoulders and a long black cloak, trudges the hallways of an abandoned temple. His face shrouded by a dark hood covering most of his identity. Only his glowing orange eyes can be seen through the darkness in his hood. A blue aura surrounds him connecting to various plates around his body. A black horse with a fiery man and tail follows him. It's nosing fuming smoke, ash, and embers. It's eyes looking as if they were on fire. "Oberon." He says suddenly. "You are dismissed." He speaks dryly. The demon horse appeared to nod before turning off and running away leaving a trail of ash and flames which died out quickly. The sorcerer sighs and looks up at the the throne. In it's seat appeared to be a small pebble with a crack through the center.

The sorcerer walks up to the pebble and picks it up carefully before breaking it in two. A smoky aura grew around the pebble, rising up and forming a picture. the picture began to get more detailed, adding color then details. "What. Have. We. Here..." He says slowly. His eyes blinking in amusement when he sees a craft had been attacked by a wind spell bringing it down in the woods. He watches in more amusement as each of the crew started to die in various harsh ways. All but one. Amusement vanished within the blink of an eye when a young angel met the soldier and became...friends? His eye brows furrowed and he growled, clenching both halves of the rock in each hand. The last bit of the moving picture was interesting. He read her lips and smiled at the word love. He began to chuckle darkly. "Love doesn't exist in a time of war...Especially for a soldier." He spits venomously to himself before another moving picture was before him. A group of mermaids gossiping on about the Sunzaik Orb being found. He annoyingly sighs and closes his eyes. "Ugh, mermaids...Haven't I got rid of all the ones who spread that stupid rumor in the first place!"

He puts his hand on his forehead, another moving picture coming into his sights. A boy wishing the war could be over. "Hmm...Ajit will most likely take care of this one. In the mean time, the mermaids..." He picks up his staff and ventures down the stairs and through the hallways, entering out the wooden door and to a sandy beach. He walks until he reaches the end of a long dock that stops when it reaches the deep part of the ocean. He lifts up his staff, the end glowing vibrantly glowing with energy. Suddenly, bubbles started at the top of the water before a huge beast like water serpent holds it's massive head out of the water. It's serpentine like body rising up out of the water around him. "Ahh Nereus. I'm having a bit of a problem with some mermaids that need to be 'corrected'. The Sunzaik Orb has not been found. Tell them that, and be sure you don't kill them all. Just enough to scare them alright? Oh, and if one follows you, kill them. Please, I do not want to be killing mermaids during dinner..." He says lifting the broken pebble in his hands. The mermaids came into view and Nereus roared before diving head first back into the sea. All that could be seen was a giant snakelike shadow trailing through the water.

The sorcerer who's name was Gray stalked back into the dark corridors of abandoned temple. The pebble in his hand melded back as one.

Screams. A flicked my fin back behind a rock to see what was going on. Blood. I closed my eyes and shook behind the rock. "What's going on..." I squeezed my palms together tightly and closed my eyes again. I heard a hiss in the distance. The splashing of water and movements of ripping surrounded me. I covered my mouth to try not and scream. I glanced over to the side to see a serpentlike body swish it's tail. I breathed heavily as its head turned to my direction and quickly looked away. Silence. I jolted my head towards the scene. Bloody tails and body parts drifted through the current. I let out a small gasp and shook quietly. Heaving breathing rushed down my neck. I turned my gaze towards above. The serpant was right there. My eyes widened as its lurched towards me taking a bite out of tail. I screamed and swam away as fast as I could. "It can't hurt me again...it can't!" I turned and blasted a burst of ice towards the serpant, freezing the creature. My tail's blood filled the water as I swam away, not turning back. Just swimming away.

Jinny

"Alright Crow, let's go!"

Jinny made her way to the hatch, opened it, jumped through, and stood on the ship. She waited for Crow to come out of the hatch. There were no sounds anywhere from the plains the ship was located in, but as Jinny waited for Crow, she swore she could hear some faint noise. From where she was standing, It sounded like the sound was coming from the south......from the jungle. Another ship crash? No, if it was a ship crash, there would be more sound. So what was it? Jinny paid more attention, and assumed the sound was screaming. If it was screaming, whatever it was that was making the screaming was angry. She feared for Damien and Kara's lives.

Pipa and Piper

It was a peaceful night for Pipa and Piper as they flew their dragons across the starry sky. Pipa made plans to hunt on the seashores of Serakin, since the girls had never set foot on a soft beach before. Since summer was coming, marine life was in high demand, and the twins didn't want to miss the oppurtunity to strike a fortune. Pipa proposed a plan to reach the beach at night, camp out, and then hunt in the morning when the sea creatures would be out.

When the twins finally found the seashore in the dark, the landed their dragons, and lit their lamps. They both felt the gentle touch of the sand for the first time. Pipa jumped around in it, while Piper cringed with every step.

Pipa ran out to the water, eager to feel the coolness of the waves, when suddenly, she noticed the hundreds of ripped tails, The touch of red blood on the flowing waves, and even some of the mermaid carcasses, resting on the sandbars.

"Evom ot siht tops....",("Come here...") Pipa called out to Piper. Piper ran quickly over and saw the chaos as well.

"hoog, morfil thaw a dreh, a tha teh shretaw an teh eros dow eb tsuj sa spik sa teh dahns."
("gosh, from what i heard, i thought the waters on the beach would be just as clean as the sand.")

"Piper, ese mermaids eeva neeb slaed tsuj wun."
("Piper, these mermaids have been killed just now.")

The twins looked at each other with a serious glare. The decided to look for survivors.

"HELLO!!!!", Piper shouted, "CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?!?"

Crow

Crow nodded and flew outside, stuffing the bag of food in the inside pocket of his coat as to protect it from the rain. He then looked towards Jinny, just as a sound pierced the pitter patter of rain and hail. Crow shudders in anxiety and the cold before scooping up Jinny in his arms and leaping into the air and slowly, tiredly, flying into the air with a steady beat of his wings. He panted a bit for air before flying straight over the forest. His feet barely touching the tips of tall trees. Nevertheless, his eyes were like a hawks, scanning the forest floor for the shooting stars. His eyes then spotted the black chunks of metal between the trees and growth. He sighed before tilting towards the wreckage and downward toward earth.

After a small amount of time passed, the two eventually landed on the forest floor safely.

Nereus

Nereus roared as the ice beam made first contact with his scaly skin. It instantly froze almost half of the serpents body including the sea around it. He growls and gapes his mouth. A blue light emanating from the serpents maw and back of throat before it tilted it's head toward the frozen part of the sea, near his body. In a matter of seconds, a bright blue beam of energy blasted from the serpents mouth making his head bolt back a bit. It made contact with the ice in the sea and water, causing it to crack all around it's body before the ice started falling off the serpent in massive shards. It looked over at the direction the mermaid went and growled before his eyes looked up at the sky. There he saw two dragons landing near the beach shore a good ways away. they either saw him or not but right now, Nereus was ready for a late night snack, and dragons just happened to be the best animal that's suitable for this massive beast.

Nereus let out another growl that sounded much like a moan underwater. He then dipped his head into the sea followed by his incredibly long body. After his body was completely submerged, he began to scope the area of the beach, looking for a deep enough spot where he can nab those dragons. At another angle though, he realized there were another creatures there as well. Quite to small for him to eat so he ignored them whilst getting into position. He let his body sink to the floor except his head, half of his neck and tail. He used his serpentine body to keep him moving so it appeared as if he was rested on the bottom but he was actually hovering just above the sea floor. Head pointing directly at the dragons.

Unlike most serpents, Nereus was smart. So smart that he pushed up the sand around the beach waters making the water appear murky and hard to sea in so his body was concealed by the dirty water. He also managed to kick up the sand around the other parts of the beach during scoping, so it wouldn't appear suspicious that only one part of the beach was murky. His whisker like tentacles on the bottom of his jaw felt around his head and on the sea floor making sure he kept a good enough distance away from the floor. A moment later, all four of his bright blue eyes opened before he opened his mouth, making the water collapse into the serpents mouth before his massive head broke the surface.
