Through the town walked a figure, residing in a black cloak as if it was a prison. No one approached, but as he walked by, many a man would turn to another and the rumors would start flowing. "I hear it is a ghost!" "I wonder what demon he had to make a deal with to see others' secrets!" "Mommy, he scares me!" All were common to Talin. Few humans understood why he was the way he was.

On his 1000th birth day, Talin aided in the attack on one of many castles in what is now the Kingdom of the Broken Heart. Being the dragon to strike down the queen of the castle, the resident mage, and secret lover, of the queen cursed Talin. "Only when the sun has hidden itself, and the sky is as dark as your scales, will you see your true form. When the sun is high in the sky, you will be trapped in a prison as black as your scales, forced to walk the lands to show your crimes!" Rang the curse that was laid upon the dragon.

2000 years. 2000 years he has been in this cloak prison during the day, only to experience the freedom of his true form at night. Talin was more than used to it now. At first he could hardly walk as a human, the way so different from walking as a dragon. And the prison did prevent him from eating, locking his head in the darkness of the hood so that it may only be seen when the transformation has taken place.

Upon nearing the town, Luna would note a taller figure, cloaked in such a way that where a face should be, a black mist takes place. Simply looking at this figure leads to both a feeling of pain, like a thousand tiny needles jabbing the brain, and a feeling of pleasure, like being tucked in to a warm, soft bed by the most beautiful person in the world.

This figure would face the black mist towards her for only a single moment before returning to its slow walk out of town. It was around 1:00 pm and it would take Talin a while to get to a distance to prevent people from seeing his transformation. As much as he hated his prison, he looked forward to every night, in which he was released to his true form. Released to fly silently across the night sky.

It had taken nearly 100 years for Talin to get over what the humans had done to him, but now he had accepted his daily forms. The night. He had always preferred it, but now he had to suffer through being awake during the day, not something he always liked... And he still had a few thousand years before he would even reach middle age.

So, with his hood facing the road ahead of him, he tried not to notice the part-human too badly. It was better to let the short-lifers come to you than to go to them.

"Why does this one approach the prison?" Talin asked, now letting his hood face Luna. After a moment of analyzing the curious creature, Talin spoke once again. "Now if you care to see what lies trapped within this shell, follow me out. When the sun hides, the true form is taken."

Any time he ran into those with even the lightest amount of shaman training, they always thought he was some kind of demon, dark spirit, or shadow creature. None remembered the dragons, having died or gone into hiding so long ago. If it weren't for the curse, Talin would be with them in the afterlife, but his prison kept him safe during the day. Most who would hunt "creatures of the dark" would run off after he was unaffected by holy magic.

Talin could sense what lied deep in his approacher now. Every second he was finding more and more inside her head. Her fears that her family would be harmed, that she would lose control, or that her beast inside her might do something she could not even think of. So many thoughts and memories and fears and wants, all wrapped in a pale, toned shell.

Yet, Talin could not truly place what the girl was. She had more than one form, that was obvious, but it did not reside in her memories. It was a beast, but no more could be found. And a word, werewolf, kept popping up in her memories as well, leaving Talin lost as to what it was. In all his time in Centri, Talin still had not met another multi-former. He was curious to say the least.

"Do not try to hide anything. The prison reveals all. When it was forced around me, I only wanted to burn them, not understand them. The ruins you find around the old kingdom are the ruins the war that imprisoned me in this form. A life for a life was simply not enough for them. No. They forced me in a prison powered by the sun itself, but when the moon rides on the sky, I am free till the sun's next visit." Talin said, trying to sound at least a little cryptic.

Even when you can see one's past and secrets, the future is always a guessing game. Never do you know if you are right or wrong till the worst, or best, times come. Talin had much experience in this, and it shown in his eyes. Both a dangerous linger, and a tire of fighting.

Tulin was curious what would happen should this other being find out that he is a dragon, but he would rather be in his true form when discussing the matter. It made him less valuable, or at least more comfortable. Comfortable to the extent that it is well worth it to wait.

Tulin kept up his slow and methodical march. He liked being called a ghost, or a spirit of some kind. People generally leave those alone, but not many like dragons. A hate that has spread through myth, as any living dragons remain hidden in some way, Tulin's being his walking prison.

"I am not the sole being who destroyed the now ruined kingdom. At that point, I was simply another soldier of my kind. One of the few who controlled the night skies. It was amazing how much easier that made taking cities... well, at least destroying them." Talin stated, his mind wandering only for a second as he started to take a few turns off the cobblestone path, through a section that looked traveled, but not extremely so.

"There are no others of my kind that I know of. I can tell you now that the only reason the humans won is that they don't take 200 years to be ready to be considered a child. My kind were not known to be the fastest reproducing around, and when the humans began the hunts, for each we killed, 3 more took their place. Should respite have been shown, I have not seen it." Spoke Talin, as if he was old and wise.

Coming into a clearing, Talin stood looking at the sky, just waiting for the sun to finish setting. When it did, and the moon's light began to shine across the field, a black mist, emanating from Talin's hood, surrounded him. The first thing to shoot out of the mist was two wings black as the darkest night, with the shine of a freshly polished sword. Next was his feet, pounding into the ground.

Just as his tail began to swing, the mist receded, revealing Talin's true form, its scales as dark as its wings. As he sat on his hind legs, taking a nearly regal pose that also showed that he was prepared to be attacked, he looked at Luna. In his deep, echoing dragon voice, Talin asked "So, what do you think of the once great dragon kind? Know only that I am nearly a quarter of the size I will be when I would died naturally."

"Not until you find a creature that reproduces hundreds, if not thousands, of times faster than your kind. Dragons were once the fastest to reproduce, and anything faster we killed off for fear of it growing to large. The humans were fast enough to have enough that when we killed them 'all,' enough to birth were left. Eventually, they reacted in the most expected way. Try to kill one of the beasts that can slay 100 of their kind with ease, then have the survivor report how.

Eventually, both sides had a strategy. Your kind struggled to rebuild what we destroyed, but numbers were never a problem. Now look around as you may find an old dragon city if you dare to climb to the tops of the mountains. Or you might find a temple built by dragon worshipers. What better way to kill off a threat than to use it against itself." Talin said as he looked at the werewolf. His years on the ground have not made him any more empathetic to the humans, only better at standing them, but a little more kindred to those that the humans abuse.

After a few moments of thinking it over, Tulin made the decision. He liked to fly every night, but the woman standing before him was something he at least had pity for. "Do you wish to see the world from the skies?" Came a short short breath from Tulin. Who knows, maybe having something close to a friend will reduce how dull the days are.

"If that is a problem, then I can bring the shade with me." Talin stated as his wings shot out to the sides, causing a black mist to seep from underneath them that moved about 7 feet above his back.

Being a dragon of the night had its perks. It used to be that Talin could cover entire capitals in utter darkness, but without reason to use this ability, it had dulled down over time. Still, Talin could cover a small village if he tried, but he would have no reason to. Instead, he had been focusing on controlling it on a more localized level, even getting a solid mist a few times. He was getting better at it.

Moving over to the tree line, Talin shifted so that Luna could climb his tail, curious to see if the werewolf would climb aboard. It has been many a year since Talin had someone to enjoy the skies with. This was a chance he would never give a human.

"w-well a-alright" she gets aboard quite nimbly though staying where the shade or not looking up so as not too trigger a transformation and go feral. she gets herself to a secure spot "all set" she says and hangs on to the scales rather tightly and seems pretty nervous having never riden anything before this.

"Hold tight." Talin stated as he forced his wings down with a forceful gust, pushed himself forward, and took off just above the tree line. He was going fast, from a terrestrial perspective, but only about a fourth of his full speed. Talin had learned enough from being on the ground that groundlings didn't tend to be able to take the wind of full speed dragon flight.

Talin, flapping his wings only about three times a minute, tilted up so as to slowly gain height. He leveled out at just above the mountain tops, doing a fly by on one just to show what they looked like. He flew towards the border of the Kingdom of Broken Hearts. He then began to follow the borders of Centri, hoping that he might make a whole trip before he would have to land.

"Impressed?" Talin asked Luna, continuing his current course.

"This is not the fastest I can go, nor my normal speed. Last time I checked, you really didn't have a good place to hold onto when I fly at speed." Talin said, clearly not affected by the winds from his flight.

Something about this was reminding him of when he could fly with the others of his kind, patrolling the world's skies without a fear, in a formation that would make birds jealous. If they could see in the dark. Nowadays, when he flew, he rarely had someone else to share the love of the sky with, so he would fly fast as he could to get it all out.

The sensation brought with it a pain too. It made his rage for humans fill up again. He wasn't letting it show, but Talin had some scabs in his mind open back up... and they weren't small ones. He would get over, knowing that the humans that live today barely know what a dragon is, not a single one of them could have lived long enough to have known what one was like. To have remembered all the burning towns, night strikes, and general fear that the dragons had caused. Talin had no reason to blame these humans for actions that their ancestors took, and that Talin's ancestors took. A never ending cycle.

"I can fly fast enough to sound like a crashing mountain. I have to push to get there... It's just some bad memories of days of fire, stone walls, and black skies." Talin said as he took a steeper bank as he was getting near the border to Asaolith. He wanted to make sure that Luna had a good view of the kingdom, but Talin wasn't going to get to close to it. Something about the humans there set him off on a really wrong note.

As Talin began to get back to his constant mild bank, he looked down to the trees below and the moon above. At the pace he was going, he might be able to hit all the kingdoms and land before sunrise. He really didn't like cutting flights short because of the will of the sun.

As the moon begans to lower in the sky, Talin makes a sharp bank towards the town he normally stayed at during the day, doubling his speed, now staying just above the treetops. He was now fighting the moon, and the gods could not stop him. "Hang on!" He shouted as he flew, gaining speed. He had to be careful, but fast.

Quickly spotting the clearing that he had taken off from, Talin made a sharp bank before bee-lining for it. As he approached, Talin pulls his wings to their full width, slowing himself down nearly as quickly as he had gotten up to speed, but that was not enough. He shot his tail down, throwing himself towards the ground to make a not so graceful landing. The result being his hind smashing into the dirt to stop him as his arms aided in the process, stopping him just before colliding with the tree line.

"You ok back there?" Talin asked, pretty sure he still felt the grip of Luna.

As the first rays of the sun rose over the sky, the shadowy mist came once again from under Talin's wings. Surrounding his dragon body, the mist slowly shoved him into his prison among humans. When the mist returned, Talin was standing in his human form, the mist now entering through his hood.

He turned to Luna to say "You're welcome." Talin pitied the fact that Luna would live less than even 100 years. He, however, knew that he must return to loneliness.
