"Help!" cried a woman's voice from up the street. Aslan ran towards it to find some low-street slug trying to steal a woman's purse. Classic scenario, but it would give him something to do. Aslan quickly ran up to the two, and stared down at the man, who quickly became intimidated. Aslan grabbed the lady's purse, and gave it to her. "I would run, quickly," he said with a smile, which she did promptly. When she was out of sight, Aslan pulled out his sword, and smashed it into the ground in front of the mugger. A pulse of flames shot out at him, burning him to a crisp. Doing that made him feel a bit tired, but it was fun. He hadn't used his sword in a little while. Aslan walked down the street and sensed something. "Alters..." he said to himself. He looked across the street and saw a woman looking into the alley. There are some nemesis' in there too.
Aslan walked quietly across the street, and peered into the alley. The woman looking into the alley was looking down at what looked like a homeless boy. There seemed to be one more though. He looked to the end of the alley and saw who he recognized as Madame Rose, pointing a pistol at this woman. This woman must be Aegis.
"What's going on here, Rose?" asked Aslan, as he pulled out his sword again.

The second thing Henrietta had noticed about the girl was a rather goofy outfit, but with a gun in hand, even clowns can be taken seriously.
(I left the post open to if Matt wanted to dodge out of the hold.)

A playful laugh could be heard in the darkness. "Third Path, the Path of Beasts..." could be heard almost at a whisper in the dark. At that moment a large roar could be heard, making some of the attackers fall to the ground in shock. "What's that?!" A second roar was heard in a different area, then a third, and finally a fourth. "Bite." As this was said, four large lions emerged from the darkness, attacking the men at random. As the guns fired and hit the animals, they disappeared as if they were mist, but not before taking three of them down. "Three down, four to go..." Another playful laugh was heard, making the four remaining men fire bullets randomly. "Fourth Path, the Path of the demon..." At that moment a sharp, dark blue blade emerged from the darkness. They fired in its direction, but the sword stopped each bullet. "Such scared firing is the easiest to predict." The blade disappeared back in, only to come rushing out and slicing through two of the men in one attack. All that was left was the man who punched David and another. "Did you see him?" The other shook his head. "H-he was moving too fast." As he spoke the blade went through his stomach, making him fall to the ground. Pulling the trigger, the last remaining one had to hear the sound of an empty clip. He fell to the ground and pleaded for his life as his future killer walked out of the darkness. The shin high boots making gently sounds as the man walked over. Unable to look up, all the other one saw was his boots and urban camo pants. The blade was pressed against the bottom of his chin, forcing him to raise his chin up to see the spiky haired, blue eyed alter. "Its a pleasure to meet you. My name is Kelliq. You may know me by that ridiculous nickname, The Superior of the In-Between." A greek numeral was in his eye as he spoke, currently with a I and V together. "I understand you hurt David pretty badly. Not to worry because I knew you would. So, there is no reason for me to be angry. But sadly, my employers want you dead. So in your last moments I shall give you a viewing of true power. First Path, The Path of Hell..."
David opened his eyes to see the inside of his apartment, the blood on his clothes having dried up. Sticking them in the washer and laying down on the couch, he yawned heavily, Kelliq's use of his powers taking a toll on David. He looked at the picture of him and a much younger blonde girl, sitting on his coffee table.

A flicker of movement caught his eye. The white-haired woman made a rapid movement toward him his dark passenger could have avoided - although Matt saw what she was doing, he didn't have the speed to avoid it. Even if he did, he wouldn't have. Why not let this play out? His Alter needed him; he wouldn't let him get strangled, and Matt knew it.
He felt the woman's arm wrap around his neck, an easy position for her considering how short he was. His breath hitched a little as he felt her hold quickly tighten on his throat, but he made no effort to struggle. With his teeth clenched from being choked, he only smiled at the two friends he seemed to have made, even giving a little wave to them. Obviously this wasn't comfortable and it made breathing a little difficult, but for the moment Matt didn't mind, nor did his dark passenger.
How exciting. Laughed his Alter.

Either way, he grabbed his only mode for transportation next to him and displayed a trick, in the end landing on the railing of the oh-so-familiar roof with the board now under him. He looked downwards for a moment, noticing the faint outlines of four people: one holding a gun, another holding a kid hostage, the third running to see what was happening, and the fourth.. well, the kid. It wasn't long before Markus, too, felt the extreme tension in the air. And as usual, what accompanied it was extreme fear. That was all he ever needed to know. Alters. Again. What a pain.. He stretched out his arms and groaned, his own lazy side affecting his will to go see what was going on. But he knew he'd have to go eventually. Markus took a deep breath, a second to admire the scenery of the night, and then dropped.
One never knows what it feels like to fly if they haven't plummeted from the roof of a building. Just before impact, a small 'poof' sound of air broke his fall, and the split second after the matter surrounding the wheels of his skateboard sped to an unexplainable speed shooting him off as a blur behind the one holding a gun. That was Markus' power. Control over possibility and impossibility. All it took was a way to make it happen. Of course, the 'why' and 'how' didn't matter. In fact, the things needed to make it happen didn't have to be present either. Just a way. Anyhow, masking sound wasn't technically a difficulty either, and so he magically appeared behind what appeared to be a member of Nemesis with a hand settled neatly around the base of her neck. Markus knew Aegis.
(>.< I'm sorry if this disrupts anything..)

Backing up into the building with the kid in tow, the room they were in seemed to be the lobby of some sort of office building, certainly closed at this late hour.

There was a blur in the moonlight that swooped in behind Rose then. A boy with a skateboard appeared, holding his hand at Rose's nape in what was supposed to be a threat. It seemed to Matt that Rose would probably be able to shoot her gun before this boy executed whatever plan he had with his bare hand. But he didn't care either way. He vaguely hoped Rose would get out of this unharmed for the kindness she had shown him, but others' welfare was not his top priority. Matt usually only acted based on what would benefit him most, as his dark passenger had taught him.
He felt the woman's grip tighten on him upon the new arrival. All the activity seemed to be making her nervous. He wasn't a big fan of crowds, either. Her arm relaxed a little as she moved them back. There was an enormous sound of cracking and smashing as of rocks, an explosion. Matt jumped considerably and probably would have ducked and covered if he wasn't being held hostage. But there didn't seem to be much debris, just lots of dust.
As the woman began to shuffle backwards with him, he saw what the explosion had been. She had shattered a brick wall - how, he didn't know. Must be something to do with her abilities as an Alter. It wasn't long before an alarm sounded, the sound whining through the night. Matt cringed, beginning to wriggle a bit now. He held his hands over his ears as best as he could with the woman's arm around his throat, whimpering.

She saw them through the hole as she climbed over debris and through it after them. The alarm had gone off; time was running out for Rose. She had to rescue him before any cops got there. "Who to believe? A girl in a top hat with a big-ass gun, a hobo, or this seemingly normal woman? Hmmmm..... tough choice." She rolled her eyes to herself as she came upon the two. The boy had finally started struggling a little trying to get his hands over his ears.
"Nice office. Drop him." Rose closed her eyes, and as she raised her gun, ten blown out bricks rose into the air as well. "Now," she added. Her hair began to rise and wave in the air around her as well. It wasn't a cool effect of using her powers, however; she was doing it herself to look more imposing. What could she say? She was a real sucker for the drama, and a little intimidation never hurt, right?

He felt the arm around his neck move, then fingers crawling along his collar until they grabbed the back of his hoodie. He first took in a real breath of air, then slumped without the support of her arm. He pressed his hands against his ears, clenching his teeth and shutting his eyes. All he was focused on anymore was the terrible sound of the alarm - he hoped his dark passenger was paying some degree of attention, in case he was about to be killed. Opening his eyes briefly, he saw the glimmer of a knife. Yes, hopefully that was enough to get his Alter's attention, at least.

As the other woman maneuvered the boy around, a computer from the desk behind her slowly rose into the air. "One last chance to drop him. 3...2...1." The computer came down on her full force. If it wasn't the pain from the impact, then it was the pure surprise that caused her to release the boy. "Come on!" Rose called to him. "Let's get the hell out of here, huh?" The woman took the blow surprisingly well, and it wouldn't be long before she was up again. "Au revoir!" she yelled as she stumbled back through the hole in the building and waited for the boy to follow.

"Hey old man, do you like the stars? I mean, the complete and sheer violence and destructive power of them?"
The Drifter's head cocked to one side. He turned his eyes upwards to the stars, where they glittered in the night sky like shards of glass. They certainly didn't look violent or destructive. And he knew for a fact they weren't trying to kill him right now. And even if they were trying; they were far too small. What harm could a speck of light the size of a pin do to a man like him? Not much, that was what. So he slowly turned his head back down towards Kiiya, and stared at her silently for a moment.
The moment passed, and the Drifter spoke. His words were slow, plodding, as though he were picking them very carefully. "Girl, I haven't the slightest clue about what you're speakin' of."

"You know, stars are very massive burning balls of gas. They're so hot, they fuse and split atoms. And, when they die, they expand hugely, swallowing everything near them and then shrink into a very heavy gas ball or they explode and shatter everything around it. Some even turn into black holes," she said darkly with a smile on her face. "If you were to go near a star, you would burn up instantly and die!" Kiiya began to skip again and swing her arms by her sides. "Each and every speck op there is a huge star millions of light years away. Most are bigger then the Sun, which is maybe a million times bigger than this tiny Earth we live on." She began to whitsle and pressed her gun to her lips with a smirk. "And each and everyone is out to support us and then kill us," she said ominously with a sadistic smile on her lips. She loved the massive brilliance of stars. Everything about them made he shiver from her head to her toes. She wanted to be a star, be the one who dictates life and death.

But to The Drifter, this was a hard pill to swallow. Somehow, by some fluke, The Drifter's mind was stuck in 1895; the age when the West was starting to slowly die off. The automobile hadn't existed and science hadn't entirely proven that stars were what Kiiya had described. Stars were distant and untouchable, the subject of millions of penny dreadfuls read by young boys dreaming of the future. The Drifter didn't think about these things - he was a simple minded man, a tool of Aegis. Precisely, a gun of Aegis. He didn't ponder outer space and the theories of science, he killed things. There wasn't much space in his brain for anything other than killing and simple conversations.
So the next words were the only logical response to him. "That's a load of bullshit. Ah've seen men wither up and die because of the sun, but at th' same time ah ain't never seen anybody fall o'er dead 'cuz they was lookin' at the stars."

Through her worn, scattered vision, Henri spotted something among the crashed monitor that had landed on her. Something familiar and brilliant. Even better, something in reach. Moving her hand to it slowly, her fingers settled around the jet-black throwing knife she had held behind her back just earlier. Then, just as quickly as she had touched it, she called out "NEMESIS!" And flicked the knife had her. Her yell she hoped would get the girl's attention, and Henri had considered aiming for her face... She decided against that. The girl was young, too young to disfigure, and for all she knew too powerful. Instead she aimed higher, for her hat. The knife was blessed with just a light amount of her disassembly power, enough to burst the hat into a cloud of threads and silk.

Then he felt hands on him, making him flinch as he wasn't sure of their intention. They only pushed at him, trying to pull him apart from his curled form, but soon gave up and grabbed the back of his hoodie to begin dragging him along. His legs wriggled as he tried to get his footing but even if he wasn't being dragged he wouldn't have been able to balance without his arms, which were occupied trying to block out the alarm.
Suddenly, the alarm quieted, as if someone had turned the volume down. Warily he removed his hands from ears. The alarm was still going off, but was quieter - and now that it was, he could hear police sirens undoubtedly on their way here. Then someone grabbed him by the shoulders and began to shake him. He opened his eyes, blinking somewhat fearfully. It was Rose; she must have come back for him. He glanced back where the white-haired woman lay on the floor. She was either unconscious or close to it. Disregarding her without a second thought, Matt stumbled to his feet and scurried out of the building like a startled cat, practically leaving Rose in the dust.

She sighed and moved her lips against the cool metal of Beetlejuice, mouthing secrets to it that she knew it would never reveal. "You know old man, you think kinda like a dick. You're limp all the time but when it comes to one thing you spring into action," she muttered with a small giggle. Kiiya always liked the looks of shock on people's faces when she spoke with such words. It was because she looked so young but she was probably more mature than most people on the planet. "No, I change my mind. Exactly like a dick."
