Alex clicked off his cellphone and tossed it in the passenger seat. "Tch! I give the girl an INCH of freedom, and she goes a MILE!" he said, furious. He drove to a small house on the edge of the town. He slammed open the door. There were about 15 people in the house. "Hazel!" he yelled at her when he saw her. "What did I tell you about going to parties!!!" he didn't care about the other people, they were too busy getting drunk or high to notice him anyways. "Get out of here!" he said, dragging her outside. He smacked her after he drug her out the door.

"How DARE you defy me?" he yelled at her. "After ALL I do for YOU, you STILL defy me!"

"I...I. I just wanted to have some fun," she whimpered to him as he dragged her out of the house. Her voice was barely audible and she wondered why people weren't coming to help her. The door hit her leg and she winced. "Alex...please..baby.. I'm sorry." She whimpered again and a small tear trickled down her face. But, it didn't matter. Her cheek stung with the force he hit her.

"I didn't think it was that big of a deal. It was just a little get together. Not a real party." She touched her cheek as she sat on the floor. She stared up at him with big eyes that were brimming with tears. She placed one of her small hands on her cheek. It wasn't the first time he had hit her, and it wasn't going to be the last. She winced at the thought.

"Can we...just go home?"

"Hmph. I should make you walk." he motioned to the car. "Get in. Quick." he said, climbing into the driver's seat. "Look babe, I don't want you around those druggies, you hear me?" he said, calmer, but still obviously pissed. "If you get into that mess, I'll beat it out of you!" he threatened. He meant business too. Alex wasn't one to make hollow threats. He started driving down the road, Livin Lovin Maid by Led Zeppelin playing on the radio. "Now, how about listening to me next time, eh? I only have your best interest in mind and your best interest alone."

Hazel clambered into the car without speaking. She listened to him talk, but she didn't respond until he was finished. Tears slid down her face and her cheek still stung. "Okay." She nodded. "I'm sorry." How could she not be sorry? It was her fault in the end. She was the one who had lied, she was the one who went to the party, and she was the one who deserved that slap.

She turned to look at him again. He looked so angry, but he was cute when he was mad. His eyes got those blueish color and his cheeks flushed a little red. She wanted to kiss him, but she was a little frightened to get close to him. After all, her cheek was a constant reminder of that. What was she going to tell her mom?

Alex looked over to Hazel and sighed. "Look. I'm sorry for hitting you. Let's just kiss in make up, okay baby?" he said, pulling up to her house. He shook his head. Don't scare me like that, it's not healthy for the soul." he said, a peaceful smile coming over his face. He was still seething on the inside, but figured he had done enough damage for one day. After all, he DID love her......somewhere deep down in his heart. Alex knew she loved him though, and he didn't want to lose that.

"Yeah, I'm sorry too. Real sorry," she said bitterly. She held her hand on her cheek once again. She wasn't exactly sure if she wanted to kiss him. I mean, she did. She was just a little scared. She put her hand on the handle. "I should go," she muttered. She was holding back tears, tears she only wanted to go run to her tell her best friend all about. If he'd let her go. He probably wouldn't. At least, if she didn't kiss him.

Alex crossed his arms. "hmph. Ungrateful little....." he wouldn't hit her, but he WAS severely annoyed. "I drove you all the way back, and you won't even give me a kiss? You can count on your ass walking the next damn time You need a ride." he sighed. "I don't know why I put up with your shit. Just........get out. Get out before I make you!" he snarled at her. "all you do is fucking cry anyways." and under his breath, he added: "If you didn't have such nice tits I might just leave you for good."

Her cheeks got a little flushed with anger, but she wasn't going to act on it. What could she say? F.U., asshole? She couldn't. After all, this was the only guy that ever loved her. The only guy that ever held her, kissed her, and just been with her. She sighed. "Alex..I..." Her eyes were devoid of tears, but her voice was shaking. She moved closer to him.

She placed a small hand on his arm and sighed. "I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking. You're right." He had driven her home. He could have left her at the party. She ignored his threat because he'd never actually make her. At least, she hoped he wouldn't. After all, this was her Alex. The Alex that talked to her the first day of school, who was her first kiss, who was her first love. This was her Alex. He would never hurt her. She ignored her throbbing mouth.

"Babe...."

Alex smiled. "You're learning. Well, I guess that's SOME progress." he leaned over to her ear and whispered: "I love you, and if you want to keep it that way, then I suggest not getting on my bad side, mmkay?" he flashed her a devilish smirk. "Now, if you don't want to be harmed, then I suggest a kiss as the first step."

Alex took two fingers and patted his right cheek. "It's not so hard, is it?" he said slyly. "Prove to me that cha love me." he said, his normal, sickening-sweet honey dripping voice returning.

Chills went down her spine when he whispered in her ear. He patted his cheek, awaiting his kiss. How could she refuse? He was so handsome. Not to mention, his voice was so enticing. All she wanted to do was kiss him at that moment. But, not just a light kiss. A heavy, passion-filled, PG-13, make-out session.

She restricted a sigh, and she leaned forward. She brushed her lips across his cheek up to his ear. She smiled. "I love you too," she whispered in his ear. He always loved when she whispered in his ear. Always. But that was before. Before he hit her. Before somewhere inside, she was terrified of him. Before he changed. She mentally slapped herself.

No, this was still her Alex. It had to be.

Oh, the longing. How he longed for The taste of her lips. It was enough to drive a man insane! There is NOTHING more power than the scent of a woman. At least not to Alex, anyways. Every organ inside his body moaned in an unique concert. A concert of pleasure. And The whispering, how it made him yearn. Yearn for her loving touch....he would get it, too.

Alex couldn't control himself anymore. He locked his lips with hers, and without skipping a beat he cupped his hands on her cheeks. The same cheeks he had slapped in numerous occasions. The irony present wasindeed noticeable, even by him. He knew she would eventually forgive him.

She wasn't shocked when his lips meet hers, but the usual spark of fire she felt wasn't there. She was so upset about what had happened that the same intensity was gone, at least for her. He touched her cheeks and she winced a little. Now she was only used to his touch leading to pain. However, she couldn't make herself leave him.

She finally broke off the kiss, but she didn't move from her spot. "I have to go," she whispered on his lips. "I need to go talk to, nevermind." She wouldn't say her best friend's name. Alex would explode. He somehow got it in his head that every time she saw her best friend, she cheated on him. "I just have to go."

"Hmph. You had better not be talking about that little 'friend' of yours, you hear me!?" he said, knowing who she was talking about, but saying that anyways. "I just KNOW you're up to something when you guys are together. Probably swapping spit and bodily fluids!" he accused her, assuming wrongly. His blood was boiling again, and it showed. He was still trying to refrain from hitting her though, as even Alex had enough common sense to know that she'd leave him if he hit her too much.

"I don't get why you always think that. I wouldn't do that to you, baby. I love you. He's just my friend." She did her very best to sooth him, laying a hand on his arm again. His eyes once again returned to a light blue. He was annoyed again. She knew that he was going to get mad at her. Oh, why had she opened her mouth? She was so stupid. Hazel why do you keep doing this to yourself? Why? She moved back a little, so that she was out of range of his arms.

Alex's eyes turned back to grey. He crossed his arms and sighed. "I better not ever catch you with him doing something like that. Cause if I do, I'll make you regret it!" he said, opening his eyes. They were that blueish hue again, and he was still seething. It makes one wonder how he ever got to be so popular, especially with an attitude like his. Somehow he managed to, and he wasn't planning on going back to the bottom of the list anytime soon.

Hazel had reached her limits on his threats. She wasn't going to say anything, but she wasn't going to sit in the car any longer. She put her hand on the door and bit her lip. Her cheeks were flushed with anger and she turned away from him. "I'm leaving now," she muttered. She put her hand on the table and pulled the door open. She got half way out of the car, but then she stopped.

She only stopped because she was waiting for an apology. "Sometimes, Alex, I don't get why I put up with this. You never even say you're sorry." This was the first time she ever spoke up for herself. She was so nervous that she began shaking and crying. Then, she got out of the car and slammed the door. She walked a few steps away and then took a few deep breaths. She hoped nothing would happen while she tried to calm herself.

Alex simply closed his eyes again. "Hmph. I'm sorry alright. I'm sorry I put up with your pathetic antics!" he said from inside the car. Alex wasn't sure if Hazel could hear him, but he figured it was better if she didn't. He turned and watched her. Sighing, Alex turned the Radio up. It was playing something by The Doobie bothers. He figured he had done enough for one day, and stepped on the gas. He drove silently down the road for a bit, listening to the radio.

Hazel stood in the driveway watching Alex. She was waiting for him to come out. She wanted him to come over to apologize, kiss her, hold her, and say he'd never do it again. More importantly, she wanted him to mean it. Instead, she watched as he drove away. Her eyes followed his car until she could no longer see him. She took a deep breath, wiped her face, and looked at the time on her phone. It was only 9. Jae would still be awake.

She walked over to his house, knowing that she looked like a mess. Her cheek was red, her make-up was running, and her eyes were bloodshot. Not to mention, a bruise was forming, in the shape of fingers, from where he had grabbed her to pull her from the party. She looked at her arm and she felt ashamed of herself. She went to the party and caused this.

It was her fault.

She made it to Jae's front door and noticed that his parent's car was gone. Thank goodness. She rang the doorbell and waited. She bit her tongue. She refused to cry. At least, not while standing on Jae's doorstep. She glanced behind her, checking to make sure Alex didn't come back. "Come on..." she muttered.

"Bye mom. Call me when you guys are on your way home." Jae smiled, giving his mother a kiss before she walked out the door. He waved a solemn goodbye to his dad.

The stairs stretched out before him, it seemed. He was at the gym all day and had worked himself to the bone. He was in dire need of a shower. One step after another, he climbed. The bathroom growing closer with every antagonizing step. He had just gotten the faucet turned on when he heard the doorbell ring. "God, dammit." he muttered.

He wrapped the towel around his waist and climbed his way back down the dreadful stairs. He opened the door to a teary eyed Hazel. The mark on her cheek catching his eye and the make-up sliding down her cheeks unbearable. "What the hell happened to you this time? Was it that ass again? I swear Hazel, I don't understand what you see in him! Come in." he sighed, walking ahead of her and treading into the kitchen. He reached up into one of the cabinets, his towel falling around his ankles. "Oh lord, my bad." he laughed.

Hazel pretended to ignore the fact that Jae was just in a towel. She did her very best to keep her eyes locked onto his. But, she couldn't help if her eyes wandered, just for a second, down his body. He studied her face and he looked aggravated. She sighed. He knew just by looking at her. She pushed past him before he could say anything. "Oh, Jae," she cried. She fell into a chair in the kitchen and started crying again.

She calmed herself a little, and glanced up to see him grabbing two cups out of the cabinet. She was fortunate enough to witness the slip of a towel. "Oh my goodness," she cried. She jumped out her chair and ran into the living room. "I didn't see ANYTHING," she hollered. She blinked, recollecting on what she just witnessed. Oh, fuck.

"Hazel?" He laughed. It wasn't like she hadn't seen him in his birthday suit before. But what concerned him more was the fact that she was crying again between her laughs. "Hey, I didn't mean for you to see that, but it's going to be okay. You love him right? I know you do. And obviously he loves you or he wouldn't even be bothering with you. That's how it always is." he lifted two fingers under her chin and looked her in the eye. "Hazel, your my best friend. I would never, ever, let anything happen to you. Honest to god. I know, that it may seem like I've failed because here he is, hurting you, but the next time he even tries laying a hand on you, I'm going to kick his little scrawny ass. I love you just that much."

He kissed her forehead then. It was something he did rarely, but knew showed true compassion towards her. He wanted Hazel to know he cared. He would never let her down, and whether she knew that or not, she still ought to some how. It wasn't like he was hiding his feelings in any way or shape possible. He had nothing to hide. He wanted her to know he loved her, but when it came down to actually saying it, that's when he cluttered into his tiny shell and hid. He could show it, but couldn't say it. But in his opinion, that's how it was with every male.

"No. No. It's okay. It wasn't his fault. It was mine." Somehow, Alex has twisted it in her head, so that it was her fault. She told him she wasn't going to that party, she went to the party anyway, she fought against him, and she got herself into trouble. She pulled her legs up against her and winced. A bruise was forming where the door had swung and hit her. "I mean, I did everything wrong. Don't hurt him. If anything, hurt me. I deserve it."

When he kissed her forehead, she sighed. He was making an effort to make her feel better, but it wasn't working. She felt terrible. Her entire body was in pain and she felt terrible on the inside. Sighing, she looked back up at him. Her hazel eyes brimmed with tears again. She was in so much pain, she could barely think. She wanted to see Alex, talk to him, and make sure it was all okay with them.

If it would ever be okay with them again.

"Why, Hazel. How in the world is it your fault? I swear; if that son of a bitch even touches you again, he's gonna be dead. No man is ever allowed to treat a woman like that! And how are you stupid enough to actually let him? You know what Hazel, I don't even want to see him around you! If I see him with you, I'm gonna walk straight up to him and punch him in the face! It's what he deserves. And I'm going to keep hitting him for every time he hit you! It'll hurt. You just wait and see." he exclaimed.

The feeling that filled his gut was horrible. He could physically see the pain she was in and now he felt like he was making it worse. He had yelled at her. Jae had actually yelled at Hazel! He couldn't believe himself.

"Hazel, I give you permission to slap me... If that makes you feel any better. Any better at all!"

"No, please don't hurt him. Please." She grabbed his arm. "It really isn't his fault. I mean, he told me that if I would just listen. And I didn't listen this time. So, you see, I did this." She was suddenly frightened of Jae too. She was never afraid of him, but he looked so angry. It was flabbergasting. She studied his face, but it was devoid of any emotion but anger. She sighed. She was messing everything up.

Then, he told her to slap him. She shook her head. "No, I couldn't. I'm...I'm okay. I'm fine. It doesn't even hurt." She looked up at him, forcing a smile that didn't read through her eyes. "Can you..promise me something?" She didn't wait for him to answer. She just continued on, "Don't tell my mom, please." She was desperate.

"I promise." he bowed his head. "Though I really want to. I just... I guess the only reason I wouldn't go through with it, is because if I were to hurt him, it would hurt you more. I don't exactly understand why though. If I ever hurt you, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I don't see why he hurts a beautiful girl like you." He held up his hand. "And don't say it's because it's your fault."

He wanted her to smile, but looking at her, he could see all the bruises she wore. They were ugly and reminders that Alex was in control and uncontrollable. But he promised he wouldn't hurt him. Jae couldn't possibly break that. "Hazel? You promise me, this time. Don't tell me it doesn't hurt when I know it does. I hate it when you lie to me." he croaked. His voice became insanely dry at that moment, causing his words to crack in places they weren't meant to. Tears rimmed his own eyes.

"I promise I won't tell your mom either." Just as he says this, the phone rings. "Speaking of moms," he said, looking down at the caller I.D., "you need to leave. Call me in the morning, okay?"

He waited for her to nod and walked her out the front door. "Dammit, I'm still in my towel!" he shook his head and headed back up to the shower.
