Setting
Gateway Station. One of the largest stations in the Galaxy. Home to so many people. And soon...it will be full of adventure, too.
The station was turning the "day" lights on, and the "night" lights off. The night lights were significantly less bright, and only came on when it was night time in the timezone of the Capital of the planet below. Not only did it save a ton of power, but it made it easier to have shipwide time.
Daniel fell out of bed as his alarm clock went off. Realizing he had slept in, he quickly grabbed a towel, and went for the showers before he missed them. As an obvious point of fact, being on a station meant limited water, so the showers in the station only operated during a certain period of time each morning so that it wouldn't waste water. Daniel was still adapting to this, instead of having a shower in his own apartment with his dad. He was still adjusting to a lot of things though.
In truth, everyone was. Humanity had only just made First Contact months ago, when the First Contact War ended. This meant new technologies, new cultures, and new prying eyes. Daniel was slow to trust most people. As he arrived, the water came on and he took his shower before someone else came looking for room.
Afterwards, Daniel returned to the apartment and began making himself breakfast. He noticed his father's stuff seemed to be gone already, like it was some mornings. Occasionally his father had to go in early. Daniel finished making breakfast and eating.
"Your going to be late" Digi reminded him from his Omni-Tool.
"No I am not Digi. You just remember to keep quiet during class. I don't want anyone to find out about you".
"I know what I am doing" the AI remarked. "I am self aware, after all".
"Yeah, and if we get caught we both get in massive trouble. Criminal trouble".
Digi minimized himself, and Danny finished eating. He quickly grabbed his bag, and made his way towards the school.
(For all intensive purposes, some people might want to have their first post end in the Afternoon, cause I am literally going to cover the schoolday in a single post)
(Also, we may begin!) (Sorry for the massive delay)
He rubbed at his hair with a towel. It was the only thing he couldn't get dry right away. He shook his head fiercely in order to toss his messy hair out of his face. He threw on the clothes he laid out the evening. On top of it all, he pulled on his favorite N7 hoodie. He gabbed his bag on his way out the door. He called a goodbye through his house, then made sure to close the door behind him.
Alex was as quiet as ever during his first few classes. He hardly ever talked to anyone anyway. This didn't stop him from having a smile all morning, and even more now at noon. He eagerly anticipated the end of the school day.
"Dr Reynolds, your next appointment has arrived." Rachael heard the voice of her secretary over the intercom.
"Send her in, Marie." Rachael replied. The door to her office opened as her appointment walked in. It was one of the Asari researchers and Rachael was currently teaching all the alien researchers about human biology and they would teach her about their respective biologies, the only race she couldn't reach was the Quarians.
After working with the Asari researcher, Rachael was finally free to go get some food and maybe have a bit of a rest. Rachael wandered down the hall, she looked out one of the observation windows and watched the planet below as the station orbited around it, the beauty of the sight caused a slight smile to cross her face as she continued onwards to the lift and hit the button for Level One.
Exiting the lift, she spotted Zander and she called to him. "Officer Miles!" She called as she did her best to run over to him, although her heels made it difficult. "Hey, I was just wondering if you and Daniel were okay? I mean I know it's been a while since your wife died, but that can have some lasting psychological effects, if you or Daniel need any help, my office is always open." She smiled to him before walking away in the other direction, heading towards the cafe and having her lunch.
Officer Miles was, once again, dealing with "politics". Some survey team sent by the council. While humans were learning about aliens, aliens were learning about humans. They were conducting examinations on humans as well. Nothing unethical, just standard species examination. What Miles did not like was the sample size. "The children should not be involved. We can't trust them".
"Not my call. Politicians say we play nice. Besides, I doubt they are going to try anything. I know your worrying about your son, but believe me, he will be fine" the station manager told him, looking over some files. "Now, the new arrivals will be here soon. I want you down at the docks to meet them with the other assigned officers".
As Miles began towards the docks, a voice called out to him. It was Rachel Reynolds. "Ah, Dr. Reynolds, it's good to see you again. And thanks for asking, we are doing fine..." He noted, before heading to his post....
-------------------------
"Game on" was the rallying call. Daniel, like any sane child, hated school, but he loved Zero-G Basketball. He played it well too, moving fast like a firecracker and strong like a bull. After that was his various classes. He did some covert messing around with his teachers. Mr. Carmicheal, his computers teacher, was especially annoying. He had Digi put some rather....unique....photos on his computer.
Afterwards, he made his way towards the park. He figured his dad wouldn't look for him there.
Sat at one of the tables, a human waiter came over to her and smiled. "Afternoon, Dr Reynolds, the usual?" Rachael chuckled and gave the young waiter a nod.
"Yes, please." The guy laughed before walking back to the cafe and giving the order to the chef, her drink was delivered shortly afterwards.
Sipping on the lemonade, she watched out the large observation glass at the planet below, the beauty of the sapphire blue waters, emerald green forests and the amber deserts was enough to make any romantic swoon. But the peace didn't last long, some pro-human was giving off to one of the asari guests, prompting a response from Rachael. "Is there a problem, Mr Hunter?"
"Yeah, this alien is in my seat." The man responded. "Don't get yourself involved." Rachael rolled her eyes and stood up, limping over to the table she grabbed the man by the forearm and pulled him back from the asari.
"As one of the few doctors who have agreed to aid the other races in their intellectual pursuits, you involved me already." Pushing him away, she looked at him, her eyes filled with hurt and anger.
"Alien-lover!" The man yelled and Rachael sighed, reaching to her thigh she drew her gun.
"I dare you to say something else." The man looked down the barrel of the gun before running off.
Rachael went back to her table and picked up her glass and moved it over to sit beside the asari. "Dr Rachael Reynolds, I don't recognise you, are you part of a new team?"
"Yes, I arrived earlier than the rest because I'd like to get a feel for the base before I start learning and teaching."
