After an attack 17 years ago, a handful of humans were magically scarred. Today, they are called upon to gather at Mecca Mana Academy for unknown reasons, most of them enrolled as students who had no idea where their abilities came from...

10,913 readers have visited Mecca Mana since EKRonnie created it.

Introduction

Announcements:
Attached to every dorm door was an announcement. It reads:

ALL STUDENTS TO REPORT TO THE AUDITORIUM AT NOON.

RP time: Sunday 11:00 AM

What is Happening Right Now:
On the grounds, everyone is practicing with other students.

1 hour in RP time before all students report to the Auditorium.

Mecca Mana Institution

Seventeen years ago, a hospital was attacked during a brutal battle between two unknown forces. Most were killed. Some survived, mostly newborns in the maternity wing, and those survivors sustained injuries. Genetic injuries. Magical wounds that altered the survivors forever.

These survivors had control over elements.

For years, those affected have been tracked by the organization known as E.F. (Elemental Forces, a.k.a. EF for short.) The babies are to grow up normally. The elders who remember the attack, are told to go about their normal lives.

Trouble should never fall upon these individuals. But EF keeps a close watch.

Recently, a threat has risen. Those affected have been contacted by EF to come to an institution in Montana for further instruction. The youngest are hardly out of high school. The older ones have been in contact with EF for a much longer time and will serve as supervisors/teachers.

The reason everyone is gathered is still unknown. The students arrive in Montana the first day, gathered in the Auditorium, whispers running rampant and a subtle ominous whisper swimming through the air…

Character Skeleton

Name: First and Last

Age: 16 or 17

Appearance: (No picture required. Words serve this rp better.)

Element: Fire, Water, Air, Earth (no multiple or unknown elements)

Ability level: (Some students have a better idea of their connection with their ability than others. Are you a clear beginner? Or have you experimented on your own before coming to the school? All students arriving will have between a 1-3 skill level out of 10. What would you rank yourself from 1-3?)

Personality: (How does your character act around others? Alone? What are their likes/dislikes?)

History: (Where did you grow up? How did you discover your powers for the first time? Do you not know you have powers?)

Other: (Anything else you want to mention. Give me your favorite color here as well)

How this RP is going to Work, (you can only join is you follow these requirements):

β€’ Places tab will be used, not the Activity tab

β€’ The timeline or time stamps placed on the Introduction page, OOC page and individual Places pages must be followed. These are updated daily. (More information below.)

β€’ This RP will be mimicking actual classes. Your characters will have assignments due. (No essays or anything, don’t worry.)

β€’ You must be able to post daily, if not more than once per day. If you cannot, just let me know. It normally will not be a big deal unless there is a big plot point in progress.

β€’ I am operating on Mountain Time (US and Canada). Adjust the timelines accordingly with your own time zone.

β€’ Class schedules and Teams will be given to each character through your private messages and on the OOC. Stick to your schedules and teams.

Teams
Each student will be placed within a different Team or Dorm building. There are three teams as follows:

β€’ Thrull – Team mascot, a silver winged falcon, Team color, Blue
β€’ Micnah – Team mascot. Snow white fox, Team color, Green
β€’ Fayr – Team mascot, black panther, Team color, Red

Separate dorms will be assigned to each team and rooms will hold four students. Teams will be competing during the year for points. The team with the most points during the collective year will not have to take finals have the option to opt out of the end of the year obstacle course as a final test of your skills.

Classes:

Fire:

Taught by: Rodrick Harris, Courtney Knolls, Merry Cinders, Gina Games.
β€’ Dueling: First Year Class: This course will provide obstacle courses, hand-to-hand combat instruction, and split students into pairs for the length of the term to compete as teams against other students. Taught by: Rodrick Harris, Courtney Knolls, Merry Cinders, Gina Games.

Timelines

This RP will be operating like a real school, with classes having fixed times and lights out during nighttime every day. Posted on the Introduction page, the OOC page as well as all the Places pages, will be the projected timeline. The Introduction and OOC pages will hold overall timelines while the individual Places pages may vary slightly depending on class, plot point, etc.

For example:
Classes in this RP will last 48 hours in real life. So on the Introduction Page and OOC Page I may write:
From Tuesday 2:00 PM to Thursday 2:00 PM (Mountain Time) Class A will be held. Check your schedules to figure out which class you will be attending during this time and post on the appropriate page.

Each section of the day will be displayed this way and put on a timeline beforehand. By giving two days for class time and two days for out of class time, each day in this RP will last four days in real life. This will keep us going and keep things organized.

I will also be either extending class times or closing the RP temporarily during holiday times that are coming up. I will be keeping track of everything, don’t worry.

If any of this is confusing, please let me know.

I hope this will turn out fun guys :)

"Atomsk, Your ability doesn't happen to be Air or Earth does it? That would be a pretty tough combination."

Atomsk looked away for a moment, and scratched the back of his head. He was somewhat embarrassed. He wasn't sure how good these two were with there abilities. He wasn't even sure what their elements were, but considering the question, one of them was fire and the other was water. Either way, they were likely much better then him. He hesitated for a second, and then turned to respond. They wouldn't shun him for not being great with his ability. At least he hoped.

"Well I'm air but..." He paused, gathering the words. "I'm pretty mediocre. When i'm thinking about it i can barely cause a small breeze. I'm only any good when I'm stressed or in danger."

Franki noticed the way Atomsk grew nervous about his powers. He rubbed the back of his head, a classic nervous habit that she witnessed from two of her brothers. "Well, I'm air, but...I'm pretty mediocre. When I'm thinking about it, I can barely cause a small breeze. I'm only any good when I'm stressed or in danger."

Franki tilted her head to the side, her hair falling around her face. "It's okay," She smiled. "Not everyone here is going to be advanced. I can do a few things, but I'm not a master of water, that's for sure."

She looked around, and noticed a few people experimenting with their powers. Causing gusts of winds, little flames to dance around, raining indoors; it was interesting and strange and so many other things. But not one of them was advanced, many stared up at wonderment, trying to fathom how on earth they were going to be able to do that. "Most of these guys had no idea they had control over an element before coming here. Some probably still don't believe."

She looked back up at Atomsk, pretzel stick sticking out of her mouth. "We're all connected in some way, so we have to stick together." She smiled at him, heading tilting again. "We have to stick together, right?"

Franki had a point. Each one of them was a beginner in a sense. That was the reason for them being here in the first place, to learn how to move past that beginning stage and learn to control and refine their abilities. Kael had plenty of experience with learning new things and he noticed that people who were the most cocky and tended to flaunt their abilities were normally the ones who fell behind. You can't fill an already full cup... or something like that. Give him a bit of confidence and training, and Atomsk might be better than all of the students around them flaunting their powers. And Franki...she had already demonstrated, twice now, the control she already possessed over her gift. Kael couldn't imagine her potential with a true teacher...

"We have to stick together, right?"

"Of course." Kael said as he laughed inside at the pretzel hanging from Franki's mouth. She really likes those pretzels... "Besides, these teachers or whatever, they've had over a seventeen year head start on us. Can't let them show us up."

Franki and Kael had some points. He wasn't going to get shown up! He would try his hardest! He was happy, and it showed in his wide goofy grin. He'd made friends already. He was off to a good start. Atomsk look over to Kael and Franki, with some thoughts on his mind.

"So, if we're going to be friends, we need to know some things about each other. Where are you guys from, what do ya like doing?"

He was legitimately interested, he enjoyed listening to others, even if he didn't always like the person.

Franki smiled "I'm a dude trapped in a girl's body." She slipped another pretzel stick into her mouth, munching it. "I grew up with six brothers. Barbies and makeup stopped being fun after my eldest brother punched me in the face for being too much of a girl."

She quickly grabbed another pretzel stick and stuck in her mouth. "However, my mom stuck me in dance classes since I was four to try and turn me into the girl that she wanted me to be. I've been dancing ever since, although, I've semi-retired after declining an opportunity to dance in a showcase across the country."

Another pretzel stick. "My mom was, definitely, unhappy, but there wasn't anything she could do. Shortly afterwards, I was asked to come here. So, I guess declining the offer was for the best."

She looked from Kael and Atomsk as she spoke, adding a shrug in every once in a while. "I grew up in New York, which is a great place...if you want your kid to develop a serious potty mouth and develop a fear of mole people."

She stared blankly into the abyss as she mentioned the mole people, her mind traveling back to her first encounter on the subway when she was six. She shook out of her thoughts and looked up, an awkward smile on her lips. "You guys like video games?"

"You guys like video games?"

Atomsk scratched his head again, nervous about revealing anything about himself, but he cut loose, letting Kael and Franki see the real him.

"I never have much of a chance to play them. I've lived on the streets since I was 8. I'm usually too busy looking for money or a place to sleep." He realized how he had quickly killed the mood, so he tried to lighten it once more. "But the few I've played are fun." He said with an ear to ear grin.

"I never have much of a chance to play them. I've lived on the streets since I was 8. I'm usually too busy looking for money or a place to sleep."

Franki felt her heart sink, good one Franki. She sighed, her body physically slumping down. "I'm sorry." She said, honestly upset with herself. "I-I wasn't thinking. It just...kind of came out."

Franki! Shut up! You are an idiot!

She quickly shoved another pretzel stick into her mouth, then another, another, another. She finally stopped when she had managed to shoved eight sticks into her mouth, all disappearing quickly to make room for more.

Franki's mother always hated when she did this. It happened quite often when she was nervous. Pretzel sticks were the one "snack" her mother would allow her, and munching on them like a hyperactive bunny has always been a nervous habit. Especially right before a dance performance. She was always a nervous wreck, and her mother would always smack the pretzels away and chastise her. And then tell her she would get fat.

Good memories.

"But the few I've played are fun."

Franki's head snapped up to see Atomsk smiling wide, trying to lighten the mood. No doubt, Franki's face was red with embarrassment, but she smiled, and let out a small laugh.

Franki apologized fervently. She managed to crack a smile after shot her his own goofy grin.

"Don't worry too much. It's not your fault. I got used to it a long time ago. I don't regret it. It was that or foster homes. I choose the one I wanted." He hoped he was reassuring her because he didn't feel like he was doing a very good job.

"I'm not a fan of establishment so......street life seemed more appealing." He said this with a smile, but he could tell he couldn't hide all of the pain. He wondered every day if he choose right. What life would be like. He lowered his head a bit, still smiling, but thinking silently of his past decisions.

Sunan Charoenkul

It turned out that the girl, who was no longer 'that girl' but Yuuki, had just been lost. It was nothing exciting or bizarre, yet a sound explanation no less that made enough sense to him. He took her hand and shook it, his grip being much more loose than firm. Honestly, he still hadn't gotten re-accustomed to hand shaking yet, he was all too used to the slight bowing gesture known as 'the wai'. His face lost some of it's sternness and was replaced with a more nervous expression at the contact, and he felt much better when the moment was over.

Soon enough his face had reverted back into a more laid-back language, nothing being strained or forced so it didn't display extreme emotion one way or another. On a contrast, Sunan didn't appear as stoic as the other boy, who's face never seemed to twitch or pull outside of the spectrum of aloof apathy. He waited to speak until stoic boy, now reveled to be Valdim, had introduced himself as well. What a couple of interesting characters; the gentle new girl (Although, technically they were all new.) and the fairytale boy with a face of marble. Their names even matched their uniqueness, though he wasn't one to talk about weird names.

"I'm Sunan Charoenkul." A hint of an accent rose while speaking his name, as needed to truly say it properly. His last name really was a mouthful; that was Thai surnames for you, long and troublesome. He should consider himself lucky for having such a tame example. "I have control over the Earth too, apparently." Sunan's eyebrows pulled together for a second, still skeptical about these supposed abilities. He had never forced the ground beneath him to move, or twisted vines to his will, nor could he create walls of rock like they would in that certain Nickelodeon cartoon. His memory briefly flashed back to the times where had found his way around places he had never been too, simply if he took the time to think about it and listen. He had always pinned it as having a good sense of direction, but now he wasn't so sure. Then there were those times where his mother and aunts had said he had a 'Green thumb' despite not knowing anything about gardening besides 'You plant a seed and water it'. Perhaps this elemental business was a solid explanation behind all those weird occurrences.

"It's good to meet you both." He would have to test that out later. For now he still had no idea on how to find out for himself if he truly had the power to manipulate the Earth. They didn't exactly write books on this sort of thing, though being outside would be a good place to start, if he could ever get outside that is. Sunan turned back to address Yuuki specifically. After all, he did know the location of the place she was looking for. "I was placed in the Micnah dorms too." At least he would know someone there, no matter how little. It was also nice to meet someone who shared his element, maybe he wouldn't feel completely alienated when class came. "Third floor in the west wing, I could show you where they are if you want me too." He offered, that is where he was planning on going anyways.

Kael listened to the exchange between Atomsk and Franki silently. After a bit, the conversation took a bad turn and he realized that it wasn't all stars and sunshine in Atomsk's past. It was evident that Franki was kicking herself for letting things go the way they did during their talk, even after Atomsk tried to reassure her. On the other hand, Atomsk was smiling as well, but it was pretty clear he wasn't as reassured as he sounded...

"Well," Kael took a breath before he began, "in my opinion, it doesn't matter where you came from. At least not here. Not anymore. Everyone has been given a clean slate once they set foot in that auditorium earlier. Whether you were stuck with all brothers," he gestured to Franki, "on your own," to Atomsk, "or lived were the only guy in your house. We're all on the same level now. At least for the moment..."

"Valdim. Valdim Elgrust. Earth is my liege. A pleasure to make acquaintance,” Yuuki heard the boy who introduced himself as Valdim say. He then shook her hand. Yuuki heard him hesitate a little. Is there something wrong? Does he think I'm weird or rude? She checked if she was presentable and found nothing wrong. Her hair did not look like she had just woken up, her hairband was not slanted, her dress had no wrinkles and she had no stains around her mouth. She looked up and thought nothing about it.

Yuuki turned to the boy who just spoke,"I'm Sunan Charoenkul. I have control over the Earth too, apparently. It's good to meet you both." She saw Sunan relax and she smiled, happy that he did not feel awkward around her. Both Sunan and Valdim were Earth Mages. She felt left out but managed to smile at both of them. Yuuki imagined what her teacher would be like She also wondered how many Water Mages there were in this school and if she could get along with all of them. At the same time, she hoped nobody would ask about her family.

Yuuki scanned them. Valdim was a tall boy who has brown hair. His skin was fair and he has thick eyebrows. Under his eyebrows were eyes which were green and brown. Yuuki thought they were unique and quite cool. He has a tall nose and thin apricot lips. He wore a polo t-shirt and long pants. He stood with his back straight which Yuuki thought made him look mature and strong. Sunan was slightly taller than her and tanned. Black hair sprouted from his head and his eyes were dark brown. His nose was of average size and his lips were thin.

"I was placed in the Micnah dorms too. Third floor in the west wing, I could show you where they are if you want me too." Yuuki heard Sunan's offer and smiled. It's nice to know someone from the same team as her. "That would be very helpful, thank you," Yuuki answered, remembering her manners, "but, of course if it doesn't bother you."

Sunan Charoenkul

"That would be very helpful, thank you. But, of course if it doesn't bother you." She was really polite, well put together; it gave him the feeling that she hadn't grown up in the slums, that's for sure. Where she came from didn't matter though, he doubted anything like that was of any worth now. Here they were all students that were being target by some psychopath, or perhaps, sociopath. Sunan's hand met his right arm, rubbing it momentarily out of nervousness. "Yeah, it's not a problem." Neither of the were like the people he was used to being around, which usually consisted of crude teenagers, though that didn't mean that was the only type of people he wanted to associate with.

They were just easier to read, because instead of hiding what they were thinking they would announce it loudly with blunt honesty. He should of made an effort to learn how to read body language better, he couldn't tell what these two were possibly thinking. He forced his arms to return to his sides and took a few paces back, towards where he left his suitcase. Lies and facades were as unnerving as they were common, even he wore a mask over his face in fear of other people. Previous lessons told him that all of this was silly, to let go and end such pointless suffering, but even the words of monks seemed flimsy. The world was being painted in grays and everything was to be doubted. Right and wrong became interchangeable, trapping him in a place where he couldn't tell which way was up or down.

It was much easier to just push everything aside, watch from a comfortable distance if he must, and explore the world on his own terms without getting caught up in pointless charades. Or at least, that's what he would try to do, even though it ended in the opposite. β€œI suppose our introductory exchange shall conclude as we part ways to our destined abodes. With the banner of Team Fayr did I hear my name summoned. I hope to cross paths during the hours of learning.” Sunan nodded, a hint of a smile crossing his lips. His hand was now wrapped around the handle of his own suitcase and pulling it back towards the pair, his movements steady, but not rushed. He wouldn't mind that, in fact, it could even be something to look forward to. While they could be putting up a facade of false civility, it could also be genuine.

"Alright, I'll see you around then, Val." It didn't strike him that shorting his name could of been a poor move until afterwards. Sunan cursed himself inwardly, it was too late to change that, he'd have to let it stand. Ceasing his dwelling, he looked over to Yuuki, wondering if she was ready. "Are you all set? It's this way." He glanced over to the hallway not far from the stairs, which would lead them to the west wing. They were still stuck in the east side of the building, they might as well take the route that would get them to the other side quickest.

"Yeah, it's not a problem." Sunan replied to her question. "Great!" Yuuki smiled, relieved that someone would show her the way to the Micnah Dorms. She was lucky her music got the attention of kind people and not others who were rude. She could not stand those people. They would always make fun of her, calling her Ms. Goody-two-shoes and shorty or something like that. When Yuuki lectured them about their manners, they would reply sarcastically, 'Yes, Mum.' Yuuki tried to control herself, knowing that it would just waste her time, but always failed. She hoped she didn't meet anyone like that in this school. Yuuki balled up her right fist thinking about it.

Yuuki decided to stop getting angry over unnecessary things, for now. She opened up her hand and took a deep breath. She kept quiet, knowing that she would not be in the same classes as him and assumed her was talking to Sunan. She stood there, the fingers of her right hand wrapped around the cold hard metal of her flute while she played with the keys of the flute with her other hand. Yuuki was suddenly aware that she looked nervous and stop fiddling with her flute. She looked up, paying attention to what Valdim and Sunan were talking about, hearing Valdim say,β€œI suppose our introductory exchange shall conclude as we part ways to our destined abodes. With the banner of Team Fayr did I hear my name summoned. I hope to cross paths during the hours of learning.”

"Alright, I'll see you around then, Val." Sunan replied casually. Yuuki was surprised with how fast he accepted others as his friends."Are you all set? It's this way," She heard Sunan ask her, looking her way then glancing over to a hallway nearby. "Hold on," Yuuki said, hurrying over to where she was playing her flute earlier. She put on her sling bag and put her flute back in its case. "I'm ready," Yuuki said, smiling,"Bye, Valdim. See you soon." She waved at him while walking to Sunan.

Franki silently thanked Kael for chiming in. She shot him a grateful smile, and set her bag of pretzels down on the table. She placed her hands in between her legs to keep away from munching on more pretzels, or biting her nails. Nervous habits were not needed right now.

"So, the cafeteria has died down a bit." She noted looking around. Most people had slowly trickled out and headed to their dorms, or to explore. The school was large, which was clearly obvious when they all had showed up at the main entrance.

"I wonder what there is to do for fun around here." She mused.

Tony finally reached the top of the stairs, but he wasn't out of breath, as someone who had just run up several flights of stairs might be. He was shaking, though. From nervousness and anger and everything. Today was definitely not the best of days.

Before any further harm could come to it, Tony quickly packed up the flute. He set the lock on the case and slid it underneath the bed. Or perhaps in the trunk? Or the closet? Was there even a closet?

Tony decided to just hide the case in the blankets. After burying the case in his duffel bag and other things, he went back to the common room where his discarded sketchbook still lay, along with his pencil. Just as he sat down to resume sketching, his stomach rumbled.

He sighed. High metabolism was a curse, it was! The thought of going back downstairs, after that disaster....never!

Tony held out for about twenty minutes before his stomach let out another huge rumble. He was close to tears. It wasn't fair! He didn't want to go back down! But his stomach wasn't having it. Even after that airplane food! And the McDonalds! He was still hungry?? Ugh. Sometimes he really hated being Italian.

Begrudgingly, he shuffled back down the stairs, this time armed with his sketchbook and pencil. He edged quickly past the group of students he had abandoned in his pursuit up the stairs and slid into the cafeteria. He heaped food onto his tray and settled in a table farthest away from everybody. Or, as far away as he could. The cafeteria still had a good amount of students in it. Tony quickly began eating, hoping everyone would just ignore him, his sketchbook set up next to him in case a muse visited him.

"I wonder what there is to do for fun around here."

Upon hearing this Atomsk snapped out of his small depression. He wondered about this himself.

"I'm sure there is something. I mean they don't expect to just have us to train and sleep do they? I'm sure there's a rec room or gym somewhere!"

He wanted to find some sort of obstacle course if they could. He hadn't had a good run in a few days, and when he was outside none of the buildings looked like they were close enough or appropriate for it.

"Why don't we go looking for one? Our first little adventure!" He got another grin on his face. Exploration was something he enjoyed, and hanging with Franki and Kael was fun.

Sunan Charoenkul

Nodding his last goodbyes to Valdim, who luckily didn't seem to mind the nickname, Sunan began walking down the hall towards the west wing. By now the hallways were starting to become a bit more crowded with students, most either coming from the cafeteria or just now going there, probably with hopes that it would be less crowded after a bit of a wait. The noise was greater, filling the school with their chatter and gossip; especially now that the initial shock of their situation has died down. Many of them seemed excited, as if they somehow had landed a place at Hogwarts, despite the fire instructor telling them specifically never to mention the fictional school.

Sunan wasn't sure if he was disappointed or relieved that there wouldn't be any dragons.

Honestly, he was feeling slightly more disappointed.

The school was large, and the distance between here and the Micnah common room was a bit of a walk. Eventually he guessed that it might be rude to just stay silent the entire time. That, or awkward. Yeah, he should definitely try and avoid such maladroit situations. Though, couldn't talking make things even worse? He wasn't exactly the next Teddy Roosevelt; if he was a Sim he'd have very low charismatic skill. If only reading a book would improve his tact, but sadly they didn't live in such an easy world. Then again, it was probably for the better, he could only take the "Ba harmy puta? Glatch!" joke so many times.

"So," He began. What a great start, E for effort. Yuuki seemed pretty sure of her water elemental abilities, perhaps he should start with that? "How did you find out about your..." The corner of his mouth twitched down to the side as his eyes shifted to the bottom right, trying to find the right word. "Powers?" Sunan only ended up sounding unsure. Calling them powers sounded silly and a bit childish, like they were playing some intricate game instead of practically being forced to live here. What else was he supposed to call them? Abilities? That seemed like the same thing to him. He started walking up a stair case, heading towards the third floor.

"Some of the people here already have some control over theirs. I guess they found out before coming here." Great, he was rambling now. Perfect, just perfect. And yet..he couldn't stop, his mind worked too fast, shifting through earlier observations and questions. "I didn't find out until they sent me that letter. Although, I still can't do any..superpower things." Apparently Earth was a stubborn element, hard to budge and manipulate. This seemed fitting to him, as he was rather stubborn himself, no matter how much he hated to admit it. This whole 'elemental ability' thing was pretty interesting, yet he closed his mind opposed to opening it because he was yanked from his previously comfortable lifestyle back at home.

He looked back over to her, deciding to shut his mouth now. It dawned on him that he should be quiet so she could answer his question, and to stop making a fool out of himself lest he turn his potential decent impression into a bad one. That sounded like a good idea to him. Besides, he was curious about the answer.

Yuuki walked behind Sunan quickly. She noticed that the hallways had more people than earlier on. They all stared at her and Yuuki got conscious of how she looked. She looked down at her dress and made sure it was not dirty or torn. She looked at her reflection on the walls. Her hair did not look like she had just woken up and her hairband was not crooked. In a quiet voice, so that nobody could hear her, she spoke to herself, "It's just your imagination, have a little more confidence in yourself. Back straight, shoulders back, head slightly tilted up and do not swing your arms too much." Yuuki walked in the manner she told herself to. It made her remember those lessons her parents had her take. They told her it was classes to teach her correct body language and that they wanted her to be able to gain respect from others the moment they see her. Yuuki was not sure then, she thought it was lessons to make her a model.

Yuuki became conscious of her surroundings once again, realising that it was awfully quiet between the both of them. She had to say something to break the silence and opened her mouth to say something when Sunan spoke from infront of her,"So, how did you find out about your powers? Some of the people here already have some control over theirs. I guess they found out before coming here. I didn't find out until they sent me that letter. Although I still can't do any superpower things." Yuuki noticed he was hesitating a little. He looked at her. Yuuki thought for a while before answering,"I found out about it when I had this..." She stopped again, not sure how she should put it,"accident. Ever since I had experimented with water. I even found about a trick I bet even the teachers don't know about. Let me show you."

Yuuki held out her index finger of her left hand and made a short pulling motion with it. A droplet of water came from somewhere ahead. She held open her left hand and the droplet of water landed on her hand. Then, she exhaled slowly and it turned to ice. Yuuki put down her hand and said,"The most water I can use at a time is about a handful. If I try more, the water will break apart and drop. I'm hoping that I could learn to control more water here." She smiled and felt the cold the small piece of ice had left in her hand. She always liked the cold.

Sunan Charoenkul

"I found out about it when I had this..." She stopped speaking for a moment and he feared he had made her uncomfortable, somehow overstepping a boundary he hadn't noticed. "accident." Oh. That explained it, something bad had happened to make her realize her powers. It was unsettling and he wouldn't pry, there was no point in opening old wounds. It's always best to just move forward, the past didn't matter. Right? "Ever since I had experimented with water. I even found about a trick I bet even the teachers don't know about. Let me show you." Sunan stopped and turned around to face her, eyebrows raised upwards curiously. A trick that the teachers might not know about? How could that not catch his interest?

He watched as her index finger extended, gathering the moister from the air until it come together to create a small orb of water. His breath was caught in his throat for a moment, it was so different to see this kind of thing up close, and so delicately too. Yuuki conjuring a small amount of water was so much different from what he had witnessed earlier; the wild fire, the uncontrolled burst of water. This was gentle and controlled, clearly having been practiced many times in the past.

Just with a breath of air the water turned to ice, suddenly solid and lying in her hand. Sunan blinked a few times, leaning inwards a bit to study the ice for a moment before returning to his previous posture. "The most water I can use at a time is about a handful. If I try more, the water will break apart and drop. I'm hoping that I could learn to control more water here." He nodded, understanding that she had yet to really master the ability. Still, it was something else. She had managed to teach herself how to freeze water, that was just... "Amazing." The words sounded somewhat breathless, fascinated by what she was able to do. Maybe it was because it seemed easier to lose control and cause a bit ruckus, rather then to concentration to create something so small and fair.

Sunan felt his cheeks heat up and was thankful that his skin was dark enough to prevent an embarrassing red tone to show up on his cheeks. "That must of taken awhile to learn, color me impressed." He smiled, no point in hiding what he thought. "Though," He began walking again towards the common room, talking as he did so. "I wouldn't put too much faith in the teachers here, they all seem like jokes..." His shoulders shrugged and he paused outside a door, the entrance to the Micnah dormitories, and he felt relieved that he actually managed to find them. "They're just, well..." His face scrunched up for a moment before opening the door. "Young." That was one way to put it. They couldn't have been that much older then them, early twenties at the latest. They had to be, if they had the same elemental abilities as the rest of them.

He lead the way into the common room, where only a few people were located, sitting in chairs and exchanging words. A few of them looked over to the two of them, seeming to focus on Yuuki. That wasn't a surprise though, he'd admit, she was eye-catching, beautiful. Almost like some sort of celebrity or socialite, holding herself with a certain grace that gained respect and awe in other people. If it wasn't for the encounter with air-boy, Sunan would probably be too intimidated to approach her as well. "And here we are." He smiled and looked back over to her. "You've already gotten pretty far, I'm sure you'll be able to freeze even a lake someday." The smile turned humorous, he'd pay to see that, and his expression quirked. "Maybe you'll even be able to create ice sculptures. I think it'd suit you." Wouldn't it? They were both charming and classy, untouchable. Or at least, almost so.

Erin Vines

Peeking into the cafeteria, Erin scowled. The display of students practicing their powers unsupervised was outrageous. Not that she herself didn't want to practice. In fact, since learning he was the fire teacher, Erin had wanted to find Mr. Harris and begin immediately with any tips he could give. He did seem like a cocky Brit though, something she would have to attempt to ignore.

Tossing her hair over her shoulder, she crossed the threshold once her stomach protested. Food definitely was a priority, the time it took to get the academy hardly short. She held her bag strap tightly in a tiny fist and flattened the front of her shirt as she walked through the rows of tables. She noticed several familiar faces from the auditorium, names escaping her. A group of three sat in the back. The girl with the burns had a group of people around her.

A strange pang hit her chest and she felt her shoulders curl in. Already she knew she wouldn't fit in here.

It wasn't a priority to fit in, it never was. Fitting in was a horrible desire to have. What was a good desire, was wanting partners to practice with. She needed to find someone competent though and to her, hardly anyone was. She knew she had her flaws as well, Erin wasn't going to ignore her own tendencies of loud remarks and brush-offs. But that wasn't a big deal compared to the ignorance and insufferable irritation that most spewed.

She grabbed a tray and chose an apple, a bagel and some water.

Plopping down at the closest table, a sigh escaped her, brown orange eyes scanning the thinning crowd. Most would probably find their dorms now.

Would she be able to find friends? Would this place be different?

No, it wouldn't be, she answered herself. Biting into her bagel, she chewed slowly, ripping the circle into tiny bites onto her plate. It couldn't change, not now. Even if the world suddenly shifted, powers now real, a danger named Whim lurking behind a dark curtain...Just because it all seemed like an epic tale...Just because she was definitely special now...Nothing would change.

Narration

Students climbed stairs, wandered halls and even stumbled upon strange classrooms. No one was ready for bed. The day had barely ended.

And with night, reality found its way to the academy.

Anyone in the cafeteria would have jumped at the eruption of noise from the entrance doors. Like a cannon being fire twice. The echoing rebuttal bounced off the walls and ceiling, calling for silence in the mansion turned school. A shifting air glazed the students in horror, as curious footsteps inched toward the front doors. Dust scattered into the air from the rafters above.

Another round of blasts, BANG BANG!

The hinges creaked and the tall doors threatened to fall.

The teachers were nowhere in sight. Students backed away as yet another round, three rough resounding bangs, attacked their eardrums and left the air buzzing.

Then, on the final attack of erupting noise, the doors flew open, their backs crashing into the walls, more dust and cobwebs fluttering down as a tall, misshapen figure stood in the doorway, shrouded in a shadow so dark it seemed tangible.

No one spoke. No one dared move.

The figure shifted slightly.

A gasp escaped from the gathered crowd.

And the figure swayed. To the left. To the right.

And fell forward onto the tiles.

His hat rolled from his head of gray hair, a bowler hat, green. His long beard trailed at his side down to his hips while his bag spilled scrolls and trinkets unseen before by the students' eyes. His height astounded them, at least seven feet stretched out before them. His spindly limbs lay crooked at his sides, one brown loafer shoe discarded a foot away.

It was then that Rodrick, the fire teacher, finally appeared with a flustered air. Pushing through the crowd, he was soon joined by Gina and they both collapsed beside the fallen man.

"What happened?" Gina whispered to herself, while Rodrick gently turned the man over. "He couldn't have been...attacked?" Her blue eyes raised to Rodrick's. the Englishman wore a grim frown, offering no reply.

Courtney and Merry appeared among the students and immediately knew trouble was afoot.

"Uh," Courtney said, raising her hands to get the students' attention. "Everyone to the uh...to your dorms! We'll be around later on, get to know each other, kay? We'll...we'll sort this out. Don't worry."

Merry had nothing to add except a concerned, drooping face and stumbling steps forward toward Rodrick and Gina.

Tony didn't need to be told twice.

After he had eaten, he had stayed in the cafeteria (since most of its occupants had left to go exploring) and sketched various things. The architecture. His empty tray. A few people. A group of three. A girl by herself. The teachers.

The bang had caused a loud line to be scratched harshly across a rather delicate sketch of the flooring, and Tony swore he nearly jumped three feet into the air (and he didn't swear that much). When the teachers told them to go to the dorms, he scurried as fast as he could, leaving a breeze behind him as he swept up the stairwell to the Thrull common room. He headed for the boys' room, but people were there. There were people in the common room as well, but after anxiously gauging the population in either room, he settled for the latter. At least there were couches. Maybe if he curled up, no one would notice? He decided to just sit on the floor, in the shadow cast by the great fireplace. No one would see him here, right?

As his heartbeat lowered, he wondered who that man was. He looked...well...odd. And old. With a long beard. And Tony thought he recalled scrolls? A small smile spread on his thin lips as he entertained the possibility of the man being a wizard. Dumbledore himself! Or even Merlin...Merlin, with a bowler hat? Tony dared to chuckle at the thought and he sketched out the Arthurian wizard dressed in a dapper suit, complete with cane and, of course, the bowler hat. Perfect for bowling. He even added a bowling ball.

Sunan's face was full of amazement which looked quite amusing to her. "Amazing. That must of taken awhile to learn, color me impressed."Yuuki smiled when she heard Sunan compliment her. "Though, I wouldn't put too much faith in the teachers here, they all seem like jokes... They're just, well... young" Yuuki was surprised, though she didn't show it. She imagined having someone her age teaching her. She stood there thinking what classes would be like when Sunan opened the Micnah doors. Yuuki stopped thinking when she she heard the doors creak open. She looked closely at the doors.

There were beautiful and delicate patterns on them and a snow white fox was on it. Below the fox was the word Micnah in an elegent font. Yuuki stopped looking at the door and looked inside. The common room was obviously themed with many shades of green. The furniture matched with the colours and Yuuki was satisfied with it. She wouldn't like to see a dull black and white everytime she came here. Her gaze landed on a student sitting on a couch. Yuuki then realised that there were a few student in the common room and all of them were staring at her. She made sure she was standing straight again, like her parents told her to, and smiled happily at all of them. They all didn't seem like the rude kind and she felt a little relieved.

"And here we are. You've already gotten pretty far, I'm sure you'll be able to freeze even a lake someday. Maybe you'll even be able to create ice sculptures. I think it'd suit you." Yuuki grinned,"That would be great. I'm sure that you would be a great Earth Mage, maybe the best student!" Suddenly, her phone vibrated and Yuuki looked at the screen. Her butler's name appeared and she excused herself, going to a corner and speaking,"Hi, Sebastian." She paused then spoke again,"My luggages are here?" After a while Yuuki said quickly,"No, Sebastian, do not come up! I'll come down as soon as possible. Don't go anywhere, and don't let anybody see you and the car." Yuuki kept her phone and walked to Sunan. "I'm sorry, I have to go get my luggages. Thanks a lot for bringing me here, see you soon!" Yuuki said while running to find her room to put down her sling bag and sadly, her flute case. She then walked quickly down to the gates of the school.
