♛NAME♛
Riven Seylum

AGE
Unknown, she appears to be fourteen but acts a lot younger.

NICKNAMES
Doll || A sort of pet name most of the hunters use because her appearance seems to be that of a porcelain doll.

Rei || There is no story behind this one. It is a nickname ones who are too lazy to say her actual name use.

The Princess of the North || It is no secret that she is Princess Seylum, rumored to have died long ago.

The Blood Stained Sword || This was how the humans knew her, as nothing more than a weapon of mass destruction.

SEXUALITY
Pansexual

ROLE
Vampire working with hunters

HEIGHT
As tall as she was the year she was bitten.

WEIGHT
Same weight too.

HAIR COLOR
Her hair is a long, silky, cotton candy pink. You can usually find her locks tied up in two some pigtails, with the rest hanging down her back.

EYE COLOR
A delicious candy apple red.

GENERALX APPEARANCE

Riven has never believed that she is anything special, although others would beg to differ. The young vampire has a gorgeous milky white complexion that has not even the tiniest of blemishes. Her eyes are a vivacious red that seem to pop in contrast of her skin and she has hair so long that should Riven not tie it up she is able to sit on it. In every aspect Riven is the image of perfection, if not for her short height and small stature. Should you look inside her mouth you would find sparkling teeth and a set of fangs that are sharp enough to slice through the toughest of skin. Pointed fairy like ears are attached to the sides of her head and if it weren't for the fangs one might joke that she could be mistaken for an elf.
Unlike other hunters, Riven wears what she wants. Normally it is a dress with detachable bell sleeves and a bow type collar with a bell so that the hunters can keep track of her. As for shoes Riven prefers boots, she has a long thigh high set that she pairs with her dresses. Ironically enough the vampire's favorite colors happen to be black and red.

LoudEasily AmusedCleverSneaky UnpredictableAlways HungryEasily Angered

___For such a small thing, Riven sure hosts a range of emotions. You have to be careful with her for Riven is quite sneaky, she always seems to have some sort of trick up her sleeve and is constantly attempting to escape since she has realized they are trying to use her to kill other vampire's. The hunters will not allow Riven to leave, often threatening her with death if she doesn't cooperate with them. This is why Riven seems perpetually angry when really, she's just annoyed her freedom was taken so easily from her. Riven is actually quite compatible and very easy to get along with. The girl is constantly bored though, so she is easily amused when fights start up or when she's needed. Other vampires see her as a traitor due to the fact that she is technically assisting in their demise. Some might say it is for reasons of self preservation, as long as Riven does what she's told she'll get to keep on living. Riven only sticks around because she has to and quite often she'll sabotage the hunter's plans and feign innocence.

LIKES

❥ Midnight || Riven is a day walker, she just prefers the darkest time of night.
❥ Flowers || Especially roses, she loves their unusual aroma.
❥ Cake and Sweets || Riven is a bit unusual in the sense that she can tolerate human food, to most vampires it simply tastes like ash. She cannot derive nourishment from human food, however, and will normally throw up a few minutes after eating because her body cannot tolerate it.
❥ Blood || O- is her absolute favorite, she considers it a delicacy but if it is not available she'll take whatever you have.

Image

DISLIKES

⌦ Being Interrupted || If Riven is doing something and you interrupt her she will snap at you. It is one of her greatest pet peeves.
⌦ Eyeballs || Other vampires consider them to be the chewing gum of the vampire world. Riven is repulsed by the sight of them.
⌦ Chains || Due to the fact that she was in chains for so long they fused to her wrists and so she wears long sleeves to cover the hideous pieces of metal. The alternative would be cutting off her hands and waiting for them to grow back, but she has no desire to do such an ugly thing.

STRENGTHS

Killing || It was a bit of a lie when Riven said she hated death. She actually enjoys the hunt all too much, the dying screams are music to her ears.
Transformation || Riven's main ability is to turn into the weapon of her user's choice. She is also very experienced in turning into a bat.
Sabotage || Riven is very good at getting what she wants. If not she will "accidentally" sabotage your plans.
Dancing || Especially in the rain, or down the hall, or anywhere really.

WEAKNESSES

Heart break || Riven can die if you crush her heart and scatter the pieces. This seems to be the only known method of demise.
Crosses || Vampires are unholy beings and while they can't kill her, they can certainly hurt her.
Holy water || Don't even put that stuff near her! Riven was once kidnapped by a human who was convinced they could turn her back if they doused her in holy water.
Fire || A weakness in the unusual sense that Riven is terribly afraid of fire. It can no longer hurt her, but she still hates it.

QUIRKS
Mumbling || Twirling hair || Biting right thumb nail || Never sleeping || Eating human food || Hates eyeballs

FEARS
Fire || Holy water || Stakes || Being a scapegoat || Cellphones || Cars || Cages || Being confined in small spaces for long periods of time || Being chained up

POWER
Riven's power is a variation of shape shifting. She can turn into a usable and durable weapon for combat, offense, and fighting purposes. There are two sides to this, Riven can either become a fully wield able weapon, or she can turn certain body parts into weapons such as growing claws or horns. This is also called natural weaponry.

LIMITATIONS
Unfortunately there are many downsides to this. When using natural weaponry it doesn't take as much, but the transformation takes a bit and leaves Riven vulnerable. When turning into a full weapon, however, it is instantaneous. The time limit is about an hour, any longer and it could kill her. It takes a lot out of Riven and can take her days to recover, the shorter she is a full weapon for, the better. In this form Riven goes into a half sleep state. Her mind is still very much awake, but her body is not her's to control. However Riven cannot communicate with anyone beside the wielder so if he abandons her to run for his life she won't know to turn back.

❧ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
FAMILY
Riven comes from a complex past. Her family were poor farm workers, slaving away in the hot sun, dreaming of a better life when an announcement was made that every eligible girl would be brought forth to the Duke to be evaluated for marriage. Biding for a better future, her family escorted her to the Duke's home, where she waited with all of the other eligible girls. In a stroke of good fortune, the Duke chose Riven to be his bride. They were to be wed by the end of the week. The evening before the wedding, the house was set alight. The vampires had come to enact revenge on the Duke that had killed one of their own. Riven was the sole survivor. She crawled out of the ruins, covered in ash and burns. King Seylum, recognizing her strength, bit her.
When Riven awoke, she was distraught; riddled with survivors guilt. She was supposed to give her family a better life, instead, she had killed them all. Riven refused to drink blood, she remained in her chambers, taking no visitors. She did not want to live this life of immortality, not without her family. In order to revitalize her will to live, King Seylum erased Riven's memory of her past. He told her she had been in an accident and had lost her memory, nothing more. Upon discovering her power to turn into powerful weapons, he equipped her, recognizing her usefulness. Riven rose through the ranks, developing a thirst for murder and a taste for blood. She slaughtered countless, the screams of the dying becoming music to her ears. It was on one of these hunting trips that King Seylum was murdered by hunters. Riven narrowly escaped with her life and was named heir to the Seylum fortune. Now in a position of power, she was invited to meet with other vampires, learning more of their secrets.
Riven was tired of fighting and bloodshed and war, without the King, it was never the same. She vacated her home, turning the mansion into a house for wayward vampires who needed a hot meal and warm bed. She let her staff come and go as they pleased and decided to take a trip, to visit the vampires of old and new, across the world. She was only a month in when she was kidnapped from her hotel. A crazed man believed that he could restore vampires to their human selves. He dragged Riven to a shed behind his home, where he chained Riven and gave her regular baths in holy water. He stabbed crosses into, over and over again, and would force garlic down her throat. His methods were unusual. The man even attempted to summon the devil to return her soul. In a weakened state, the man left her, locking the shed and never returning. Riven waited, her body going into a deep sleep in order to preserve itself.
She slept for more than a century.
When Riven awoke, it was because part of the shed had collapsed inwards, nearly crushing her. Pinned by chains and swimming in debris, Riven began to cry for help, hoping that someone would hear her calls.

Viola was under Iflet's foot. To her credit, Iflet was really pretty. The folds of her vibrant lavender hair, the devilish gleam in her eyes. She was definitely transfixing to the eye, similar to how Riven always drew her attention. Vampires were alluring and Viola hoped to get this stupid foot off of her. Oh well, with the key triumphantly hidden in her sleeve, she felt a little bit better about this whole mess. With the key to the basement she now had the way forward. They needed to get to the Basement. That was the next step. Riven dealt with Iflet, apologizing for the fight, thanking for the healing of Jacob. "Yeah, thanks! I like not being dying!" Jacob grinned, flashing his teeth.

Viola stood up, brushing her hair out of her face, then she kicked Jacob once Iflet was gone. "Next time don't get hurt for me!" She snapped, rare anger flashing on her usually silly face. Jacob grinned at her expression. "Aww, you were worried about me." Viola kicked him again, furious for some reason that she didn't understand. It probably had something to do with his stupid face. "I had to. Riven needs you more than me." Jacob said with a shrug. "Riven, no offense, but you know it's true." He said it without malice, like a statement of fact. "I wasn't going to get better. The grenade blew out my lower spine... it was hopeless. Messiah... he was the only chance I had of ever walking again." He looked pale and sick thinking about that. "I would have been... a useless liability. Disposed of. Not good for anything." Viola kicked him again before stomping off. "Be happy you're alive!" She snapped. "Let's go sleep, Riven!" She was tired now.

She placed the key in her own pocket. It was too risky for Riven to hold it, so Vi would take care of that risk in her place. "Let's sleep well. Who knows what's up for tomorrow?"

-------

Baron Lipidus reeled backwards as his eye was plucked out, as his arm bled from being chopped up. Kitra sighed as if this was all so troublesome. "Seriously, what a pain." She retracted her tentacles, looking like her normal unassuming self again. Baron Lipidus was not promoted by her but was created by the Kings. Still, as a Baron he was supposed to follow her orders. "You bitch!" He screamed, clawing blindly at her. His claws grabbed her, pulling her in. Kitra's voice was deadly quiet. "Crown Princess of Hell, sister of King Cambion." She spoke in a deadly cold voice. "Sit in the corner and cry and see nothing." Using her Authority, even many Barons would have trouble resisting. Baron Lipidus was forced into the corner and he began rocking himself, crying.

A small voice, pleading for help. Kitra frowned, clenching her fist. This was just like Celeste, she was even blonde too. "I can't." Kitra admitted sorrowfully. "I have to stay with the vampires, they promised to help Celeste." Though Iflet still hadn't found her yet, still hadn't retrieved her yet. Something had to be done. What if Celeste was crying, crying, being hurt, begging for help? "But perhaps there's someone who can." She lifted Lipidus and snarled. "No more violation. Get consent first." She lowered him then knocked him out with a smack to the lower jaw. "Get some rest." It was time to sleep and wait for morning.

The next morning, Riven was summoned early to King Gavyn's side. She didn't want to wake Viola, so Riven let her sleep in, leaving a note that the bathroom was the door that almost looked like a window, if Viola wanted to bathe and get changed. Riven hadn't yet eaten breakfast, but dressed and walked to the throne room. "He's not in there," the little boy shook his head, he was wearing an eye patch. His hair was silky blue and he looked well fed. "Oh? Where is he then?" Riven paused, her hand on the handle. "This way, I'll take you to him." The boy grabbed Riven's hand, seemingly not afraid of her. "My name is Kaito," he said as she followed behind him. "I'm Riven," he was quiet a moment.

"The other vampires say you're scary, but I don't think so. I think you're pretty!" A faint blush had settled on her cheeks, the boy grinned cheekily, opening up the door to a familiar room. This had been King Seylum's room, once upon a time. It was large, with a living room that led to the bedroom. Gavyn was sitting on the couch, the shades on the windows thrown open to allow the light inside. There was breakfast set out on the table, delicate looking pastries and two glasses of blood. It would have been romantic, if they had actually liked one another. "Thank you Kaito for bringing her here." Kaito nodded, Riven figured it was the equivalent of a dog leading her to its master. He bound away, seemingly happy. "Sit down, my intended."

Riven sat, wondering what he had called her here for. "You're probably wondering why I sent for you so early in the morning," he reached for his glass of blood. Human blood, of course. She had to wonder who the donor was. "It's type O negative, I heard that you were rather fond of it." Indeed, it was her favorite blood type. Riven reached for one of the pastries instead. "Yes, it was." She bit into a cookie, which flaked and sent crumbs down her front. "Why did you send for me at this hour?" Riven inquired, dabbing at her lips with a napkin. "I was hoping we could get to know one another better, since we'll be ruling a kingdom together." Riven would have laughed if she didn't know he was serious. He was actually interested in her as a person? How quaint?

Riven smiled prettily, "I'm afraid I'm rather boring. I don't have much of a personality. I was... erased, you could say. My King, birthed anew when I became a vampire." He nodded, "That is what Athena said. Still, you must have some preferences, hobbies?" Riven shook her head, "I have none of those. I was meant to be a weapon, not have individual interests." Unexpectedly, he reached across the table, his fingers lacing between her own. "Then we will find them. Everyone has a personality, you just didn't have any time to develop yours, seeing as to how you spent so much time locked up." He rose, grabbing the glasses of blood. "Come with me," Riven stood too, his hand still holding onto her own. They walked through the silent halls and to a familiar room.

It had used to be a smoking room, but had since been turned into a music hall. There were instruments both large and small there. Gavyn placed the cups of blood on the piano and lifted the lid. "Here, come here," he pat the seat beside him. Riven sunk into it. "What are we doing in here?" He laughed, "isn't it obvious? I'm not as good as my sister, but I can still play." His fingers reached over the keys effortlessly, his eyes closed. The music almost seemed to move through him. She was startled from the reverie when he had finished. "That was good, did you write that?" She inquired, finding her voice. "No, your turn." Her turn? Riven blinked in confusion, his hands guiding her own over the keys.

|| Until I throw away my dreams and become an adult || rachie ||

This was a strange occurance. Julia was smiling at her, waving good morning. "Nifa, bring the drinks." Iflet's maid trembled as she brought in a serving cart full of drinks. There was a bottle of blood available to sprinkle in and mix into the drinks as well. "Juice! I love juice!" Was it childish to like fruity juices like apple juice? Vi didn't care even if that was the case! "Let me have some!" Bathing was hard. Viola and Elise did it together, Elise being Vi's hands, and Vi guiding those hands with her own eyes. They did their best for each other, but both girls were still clearly struggling with their conditions. Athena promised something but for now that something was a mystery.]

"You always did love juice. Let's talk, just like old times." That gentle loving look on Julia's face made all the heartbreak and sorrow disappear, bringing Viola back into a carefree happy state of mind. It was okay to be hurt by her sister because in the end Julia would always come back for her. That was how it was now, that was how it always has been. "I miss you, Julia. Are we a family again?" Vi held her hand out, which twitched funnily and awkwardly under the bandages. Julia took it without a second thought, squeezing it. "You're so pretty. I'm proud of you. I heard you even got to walk the runway in Paris!" Vi beamed, heart fluttering with joy. "Y-yes! Yes, I did! It was so much fun! I wish you could have been there!" Julia hugged her close, warmth coming off of her body. "Don't worry. I won't ever leave you again."

When Viola opened her eyes she saw it again. Ayna Arnarara. The mysterious vampire that couldn't exist, but did no matter what the others said. A true rebel. "You're back again. Where did Julia go?" She smiled mysteriously and pointed up. And then she pointed at Viola. Was she just aiming randomly for no reason? "Where do you think I'm aiming?"
Where could she be aiming? "Don't answer a question with a question." Vi stared in confusion, blinking many times. Who was this person? "I already told you I'm Ayna Arnarara." Ayna Ararara said with a grin. "You should pay attention now."

Vi blinked again and suddenly Ayan a was not, was definitely not there anymore. Julia was there though, and Messiah stepped in. "What is happening." Baron Messiah asked sternly. Julia straightened her back quickly and saluted his presence. "Nothing, sir! Just looking at it made Julia feel as if she was alive, but alight, on fire , in pain. "Give me your wrists." Baron MEssiah said. Vi looked at Julia who nodded so she did as instructed. Vi let out a cry of pain sos he but her cheek and shivered as her wrists magically - magically... "No, I guess not." Baron Messiah left then leaving them just as quickly as he came. "I'm sorry, are you okay?" Julia asked softly. "It must have hurt a lot."

Riven sipped at her glass of blood, a faint smile on her lips. She was oddly enjoying this. It had been a long time since she had last allowed herself to relax and enjoy the company of other's. She felt as though she was constantly on edge and preparing for an attack. Riven hoped the others were faring alright without her. Of course, they had been just fine before she had arrived and turned their lives upside down. Who was to say that now was any different? They could take care of themselves for a couple of hours. "You really are good at that," Riven was perched atop the windowsill, watching as Gavyn drew a picture of a flower. "A rose by any other name, would still never be as lovely as you." She blushed, wondering what sort of seduction this was supposed to be. Perhaps he was lonely and in need of companionship?

Riven couldn't help but smile. "Is this a date?" She suddenly inquired, "I suppose it is," he returned it. Riven finished the rest of her drink, sliding off of the windowsill to take a closer look at the drawing. She felt suddenly dizzy, clutching her head as she sank to her knees. "Are you alright?" He caught her, easing Riven to the ground. "Just light headed," Riven admitted, the world spinning. "Here, let me help you to a chair," he lifted her easily, Riven's head leaning against his chest. "Took long enough," Iflet grinned, the purple haired monster sidling into the room. "I should have known you were behind this." Gavyn frowned as Iflet took the Princess from him, the world swirling. "Sorry brother, but the Princess is hiding something and I need to know what it is."

"She already told me," Gavyn crossed his arms, "she's empty. Without King Seylum, she has no purpose." Iflet shook her head, "You sad, hopeless romantic. That's not what I meant, just leave it to me." Iflet promised, Baroness Lilim by her side. "I trust you not to do anything stupid. Don't forget, the hunters are ill tempered." Iflet waved away his worries with one hand, using the closest entrance to the basement. She had more than one key of course, it would be stupid to only keep one copy. They were usually all somewhere on her person, or hidden around her room. "Now we'll find out exactly what you're up to Princess," Iflet smiled to herself, she would enjoy this. Riven had embarrassed her not once, but twice and both occurrences had been in front of her staff.

They passed the room where Baron Lipidus was recovering, having to be put back together by Messiah after a run in with Kitra last night. In another was baby Flo, sleeping peacefully in a baby rocker; Iflet had allowed Echo to see her this morning, but the demon had been too afraid to do much aside from sit in the corner and rock herself until Iflet had sent her back upstairs. In another room was Hawk, who was chained, but not tortured. She didn't need to torture her, as the state of her demon partner was enough to tear her up inside. There were many different ways Iflet could torture a person, she didn't even have to touch them half the time. The Princess would only be here a few hours, not long enough to arouse suspicion from her human companions.

Iflet placed Riven on the table, strapping her wrists and ankles down. "Now, let's have a little fun," she put on a glove and pinched her nose, holding garlic underneath Riven's nostrils. The Princess bolted upright, or at least, she tried. "Where am I?" Riven demanded, "What am I doing here?" She tugged at the restraints, wincing. They were braided silver cords, wrapped in leather so that Iflet could remove and tighten them as needed. "Rise and shine Princess," Lilim stood in the doorway, looking distinctly uncomfortable. "Now, why don't you tell me what you're goal is?"

"I don't understand," Riven blinked, goal? Iflet grabbed her head, pushing it back down against the table. "You and I both know that's a lie," Iflet dragged the blade of a knife across her skin. Riven whimpered, squirming uncomfortably. It wasn't silver and it wasn't her enchanted blade. She still felt dizzy, intoxicated from the spiked blood. "Oh how cute, if you weren't already destined for my brother, I would make you sing." She stroked Riven's silky pink hair, Lilim clearing her throat uncomfortably. "Do you want me to-" she indicated towards the Princess, who was on the verge of falling back to sleep. "Yes," Iflet stepped aside. Lilim placed a finger against Riven's forehead, projecting her memories for them to see.

Thankfully, in all of her years as a weapon, Riven had been forced to hone her mind, therefore, she had become very good at navigating her own head. They sifted through her memories, honing in on anything suspicious. Iflet could find nothing, there was not hide nor hair of any sort of conspiracy against her or Gavyn. She ground her teeth, figuring there had to be something. "I feel bad for you Princess," Iflet set her mouth into a tight lipped smile. "You really are empty."

"Thank you, Zeal." The First and Strongest General of Hell bowed to her with a loyal smile. "Of course, my Queen. I'll happily take care of it in your place." Zeal vanished then, he would be in charge of the farm in Krakow, which was newly set up to replace what had happened to Warsaw. She had business to settle here in Castle Seylum. She needed to make sure that her deal would be met and honored. 'Join us, Princess, and we will you find your Angel.' Gavyn said, opening his arms for her to become one of them. In the end they never did find Celeste. "Um.... Kitra?" Someone poked his head into their room, a blonde boy. It was that boy, the one who had become a demon. "Yes, Oliver? Do you need something?"

He still wasn't much of a demon yet. Kitra was going to have to teach him more about his new heritage and how to be a proper and respectable demon. Young Oliver still had much to learn. "Something's wrong. Um... the Vampire Princess is being... interrogated, and your sister, Lilim, is being forced to help." No doubt more of Iflet's work. "Okay." Kitra said, looking a little confused. "Why are you telling me this?" What Riven did was up to her, Kitra didn't care one way or another. Oliver looked panicked and unsure of himself. "Um... because we can... we'll find Celeste for you. If you help us... defeat the Seylums, then..." She sighed heavily. So the rumors were true. Nifa wasn't lying then Riven and her friends really were here to place her on the throne. Why Nifa would tell Kitra this and not Iflet was very strange indeed but she would ignore that for now.

"We know you know where Echo is. We can take care of her and bring her to safety." Oliver spoke again, looking more insistent now, feeling braver since Kitra didn't immediately squeal on him. The decision to trust her with their secrets, Kitra wasn't sure what was going through their heads. "We'll make better on our deal. I know you believe in honor, Princess Kitra. We do too." Honor was supposed to be the most important value to demons. To act honorably and nobly was their job, to never back down from what they believed was right was what Kitra had tried to teach her people. Not all of them listened, too weak to ignore their base desires, their instinctual violence.

"Do you really want to do that?" Kitra stepped into the room, tentacles casually out and ready just in case something were to happen. Iflet looked over at her with a smile, grinning like a cat. "Why are you here? Shouldn't you be back in Krakow managing the farms?" Iflet did not want Kitra here, because Kitra was not afraid of her. She was once the Queen of Hell before she abdicated the crown. If Kitra wanted to, she could have many demons choose to no longer follow the Seylums. "That's Gavyn's intended. Are you sure doing this is a good idea?" Iflet sneered, standing up at her full short height. "How do you know Gavyn didn't authorize this?" The spider demon stared. Did Iflet think she was that stupid? "He probably doesn't think it's to this extent. I suggest you stop. Who knows who might find out about this."

The two were equals and enemies all the same. This wasn't going to be an easy sell. "Gavyn trusts me to do what is necessary to protect him and our Kigndom." The purple haired vampire said, about to dismiss Kitra but the spider had another card on the table. "Don't forget I'm the Princess of Hell. I'm the former Queen. If you want the demons to continue upholding their part of the alliance..." There was a scared covenant binding the vampires and demons together. It was in Kitra's posession, and needed to be destroyed before either side could betray the other. Should Riven become Queen, she would still be bound by the Covenant until it was destroyed. Iflet sighed, closing her eyes. "Fine, we already have all the information we need anyways." She casually cut through the bindings, releasing Riven from the bonds. She left then, no doubt to prepare for another mission.

Lilim looked miserable. "I'm sorry." She wept, wiping her eyes. "I didn't want to. I wanted us to be friends, Riven!" Lilim really deserved better than to be here. She was a peace-loving succubus that meant no harm to anyone. Kitra was then invited into the parlor where some of Riven's friends were gathered. It seemed they wanted to bring them into the fold. "Give me a good reason to join you. If you don't deserve our help, we'll sell you out to the Seylums." Ktira said seriously, glaring at them all. Viola was missing but the others, including Athena, were here. Lilim fidgeted, looking nervous but she wasn't going to go against her sister's order.

Frustratingly, they had found nothing. Riven had not given them hide nor hair of her plans to take the throne for herself. Iflet was growing impatient. "Where are they! I know they're in there!" She stabbed her knife through the Princess's side, knowing that the wound would heal. Riven would not give Iflet the satisfaction of crying out in pain. She stifled her cry, biting down on her lip. A voice came from the doorway, warning Iflet against this. Riven was surprised to see Baroness Kitra there, as she was certain that the Baroness disliked her after Riven had killed her to help the humans. Then again, Riven hadn't destroyed her soul piece, which would have prohibited Kitra from returning and killed her for good. Perhaps she had known, in some way, that Riven had meant her no harm.

Disgruntled, Iflet cut through the binds, the wound in her side slowly healing. Riven sat up dizzily, feeling as though she might heave the blood she had drank this morning. "Why did you do that?" Riven asked Kitra softly, but received no answer. She was a bit more conscious as Lilim lifted her easily, the three making their way out of the basement. Riven could see it now, the baby behind bars, Hawk, sobbing in a cell. There were more, with others in them. There were more demons, simply roaming around. Did Gavyn know about this? What was Iflet doing down here? They went upstairs and to a room where the others had convened, the doors drawn shut as soon as they entered. Athena and Riven shared a glance. The vampire had gotten a glimpse of the basement sooner than she would have liked.

Riven felt nauseous, the effects of the drug still making her woozy. Athena handed her water to help flush it out of her system. Kitra demanded to know what was happening here, at the expense that she would rat them out if she wasn't pleased with their answer. Viola was missing, Riven noticed. How could Elise be here but Viola was not? The thought made her stomach squelch uneasily. "It's fine Lilim, you were only following orders." Riven looked at the others, but it seemed that this was going to be up to her. She sighed, tossing her pink hair over her shoulder. "To put it frankly, you hate Iflet Seylum. You've realized Gavyn is rather incompetent," even if he did mean well. She placed her cup of water down on the table.

"I know you're looking for an angel, who has been missing for quite some time now." She had over heard Kitra speaking of the matter and Oliver had filled in the blanks. "I can offer you my resources to find her. With the human farms disposed of, once I take over, you'll be able to concentrate your efforts on finding the angel." She did not look away from Kitra when she spoke, Riven would not show any sort of cowardice, even if her stomach had just been stabbed. "I also know that the King's youngest daughter is being held captive here." Surely Kitra was aware that the King's were the demons that all demons were derived from. "I want to free her and any other demons that Iflet has been torturing and experimenting on."

~~~~
She was alone. Iflet had allowed her to see the baby this morning, but Echo had been too scared to touch her. Now she sat on the bed, her hands curled around the fabric of the thin material she was wearing. There was food there, but Echo wasn't interested in it. Her body trembled with every breath, the little demon attempted to slide off of the bed, but her legs collapsed underneath her, her head hitting the floor. Tears welled up in her eyes, her uselessness hitting her in full. She could not save Flo, she couldn't save Hawk, she couldn't even save herself. The door inched open, Echo stiffening. "I know you're in here," a demon's voice loomed close, Echo crawling as quickly as she could underneath the bed.
She felt like a terrified child hiding from a monster. "There you are!" Explozia grabbed her wrist, pulling her out from underneath the safety of the mattress. "Come on," Echo was shaking violently by the time they reached the basement. She shut her eyes tight, "Baron Lipidus was sent out on a mission, so we get to play until he comes back." There was a glint in her eyes, Echo stiffening as she was strapped against one of the cold metal tables. "Pl-please n-no-" Explozia placed a finger against her lips. It was clear she wasn't in a good mood, but Echo didn't know why. "Save the begging for someone who cares."
Up in the parlor, Riven's faction had convened. "Viola's with her sister, in case you were wondering." Jacob told Riven as Iflet and Lilim helped her up. Oliver sat down, seeming as if a load was gone from his shoulders. "Iflet's going to realize we have the key." He said, shaking his head. "But it was worth it to save you, Riven." The key allowed them into the basement to save her this time, but now that trump card was revealed and on the table. "You're up?" Elise was startled at the voice. "Does it hurt? Where - how are you?" She held her hand out, wanting to touch and examine him but was unable to. Jacob nodded with a grin which quickly faded away when he realized why Elise was acting so odd. Her eyes....
"Yeah, I'm back. For some reason Iflet had Baron Messiah fix me... so I'm going to make myself useful." If it wasn't for Iflet allowing Messiah to do it, he would never have been able to walk or fight again. His spine had been broken at the base by the grenade's impact after all. He decided to sit next to Elise and hold her hand to comfort her. "So can we trust those two?" Dom asked Oliver, and he nodded. Kitra and Lilim both seemed to be cut from a different cloth than the others. Perhaps that had something to do with then being Princesses of Hell, royalty rather than normal demons. "It's sad how surface demons are acting." Lilim shook her head ruefully. "The Royal Family doesn't approve of cruelty without cause." Kitra had a tiny grin as she ruffled her little sister's hair. "This one wouldn't approve of cruelty for any reason. She's a pacifist, she really should never have been a demon."
Because she wasn't, of course. Lilim was an Angeal, kidnapped and raised as a demon. But that was a story for another day. For all intents and purposes, she was Baroness Lilim, but would not release a soul gem upon defeat.
Riven now decided to explain everything and take charge in bringing the Hell sisters over to their side permanently. Kitra wasn't going to just team up with them without a benefit to herself. Lilim was happy to stride over and place her hands over Riven's injury to speed up the healing. It was one of her abilities as a half Angel. "I know you want to disappear from the war, and have vampires leave it behind." Kitra said, looking quite benign without her extra appendages out. "Helping us look for Celeste doesn't sound like you'll be leaving the war behind. I need a promise, a Contract."
"We don't want demons to be known for torture and cruelty anymore." Lilim shook her head, eyes wide. "I don't like torture, but yes, sometimes I know it's necessary for Kitra and the others... but we don't want it to happen more than necessary." Kitra sighed, remembering the pathetic little thing who was once so strong. "There's no reason to torture a King. That would be like.... torturing some human celebrity." While the Vacivus family was royalty, the Kings were like celebrities to the demon world. They had authority, but it wasn't the same thing. "We can promise, right, Riven?" Lilim smiled, sitting herself back down, heart shaped tail wagging.
Then the door opened and they all froze. Viola was giggling, reaching in front of her. "Anya, you're so weird!" She said to no one. "Let's play some more! Oh, there's my friends. Hi, friends!" She waved at Riven's team then stuck her tongue out at Kitra, registering her as an enemy. Someone rushed after her, Julia, watching her sister's antics as if troubled by what she saw. She didn't seem to be stopping the delusion, but observing it for some reason.
She was not happy that they had left Viola in Julia's care. Had they not seen what the vampire had done to her sister the day prior? It was good to see Jacob here though, upright, talking. Riven could understand Kitra's concern and scorn. She had been waging this war on the vampire side for far too long. The demons no doubt were growing restless, fighting for an entity that had no concern for their safety or well being. "I have no interest in this war." Riven reiterated. She meant it when she said it. "I have lived my entire life being used as a weapon for another. I'm tired of fighting, Kitra. I'm sure your people must feel the same way. Let's retire this war, the vampires will disappear from human eye, the way they were meant to." Riven didn't believe in vampires ruling over the world. It was not the natural way of things. It wasn't right.
The demons didn't want to be seen as violent any longer. "Thank you Lilim, it's a lit better now." Riven could understand their sentiment. The demons were seen as volatile and violent. A part of them had sided with the vampires, while many still were forced underneath the thumb of humans, to work with them. Kitra didn't understand why anyone would hurt one of the King's, as it was akin to hurting a celebrity. Riven shook her head, the appeal of torturing anyone was beyond her and yet, it had happened.
"Echo King is here, unwillingly. Her human partner Hawk, is trapped in the basement." Riven had seen her in a cell. While she hadn't seen Echo, she had to imagine that the small blonde King was here somewhere. Iflet had kept her heavily drugged before, Riven could only imagine what the poor demon was going through now. "There's another demon down there, a baby. I don't know what Iflet is doing with it, but I have a feeling it isn't good." There was also the problem of Messiah. He was a host unto himself, if they wanted to win, they needed someone to take him down. "There's a ball in one month's time." It was to celebrate her and Gavyn's engagement. "We want to make our first strike then."
The door burst open, ceasing all conversation. Viola burst inside, wearing a grin. Anya, that was the name Viola had used last night. Julia trailed along behind her, frowning but not stopping Viola's antics."Vi," Riven smiled glad to see that she was alright. They would have to cease all negotiations while Julia was here. Riven didn't trust her as far as she could throw her, which wasn't all that far. Riven rose from her seat, "Viola, the rest of us can't see your ghost friend." Riven hoped that Viola wasn't losing it. In all honestly, Riven wouldn't have been surprised if she was. She wouldn't blame the poor hunter either.
~~~~~

Blood spilled down the side of the table, pain ripped through her body. She cried out in pain as a claw ripped up her side. "You're so weak," Explozia giggled. "It's hard to imagine you're really a King." Echo whimpered, Explozia had turn up her torso. She didn't care how much Echo begged for mercy, or how much blood she lost. She closed her eyes, wondering if this was how she was going to die. She could hear Hawk yelling, the vampire yelling for someone to help them, fo stop Explozia. Echo was at peace with it. She was going to die here. "What do you think you're doing?" Messiah's heavy lumber sounded, his featureless face appearing from around the corner.

"We were only playing," Explozia grinned innocently. Echo's head lulled to the side, she felt empty. Any fight left in her was gone. She screamed in pain as Messiah put her back together. "Iflet won't like that, she gave this one to Lipidus." Her screams died out, turning into ragged sobs. Her head felt dizzy, there was so much blood on the ground. "Take her upstairs," Explozia grit her jaw. She dragged Echo up the staircase, leaving her in the hallway.

She had curled up in the fetal position, wishing she could disappear. Her entire body stiffened as footsteps approached her. "Oh?" A little boy with an eye patch stopped. "You don't look so good," his foot steps left. "This way," there were two now. A boy with white hair now too. Echo curled up further, shivering. She was naked, the scars of her injuries open for all to see. "Hey there," the white haired vampire knelt down. Echo trembled, when wouldn't meet his eyes. "Let's get you back upstairs." He lifted her, the blue haired boy followed. "My name is Slaine and that's Kaito. Do you have a name?"

She couldn't bring herself to speak. "That's alright," he carried her back to Baron Lipidus's room, having seen her there when he delivered a tray. "If she doesn't have a name, we should give her one!" Kaito chimed as Slaine set her down on the bed. "You didn't touch your breakfast," she slumped over almost instantly, curling back up. "Here!" Kaito ran to the closet and pulled out the only dress. "You should wear clothes," Slaine stopped him. "Let me bandage those first," Messiah had turned back time on the fresh wounds, but the old ones had opened and were bleeding. Slaine wrapped them, oddly gentle.

The two boys managed to get Echo to sit upright long enough to put the dress on her. "You should eat," Kaito prodded. Echo shook her head, hiding her face. "Kaito!" Gavyn snapped from the doorway, "You can't go into other people's rooms." Kaito mouthed an apology and ran out.

"You should rest," Slaine said softly. "I'm going to go now, okay?" Echo shook her head, clinging to him. She wanted him to stay. "Please," Echo whimpered in a trembling voice. "Save me," Slaine stayed there a bit longer, until Echo had fallen asleep and her grip loosened. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I can't, but I know someone who can."

"Alright." Kitra shook Riven's hand. They agreed that in exchange for Kitra helping with the betrayal against Gavyn and Iflet Seylum, after becoming the Vampire Queen, Riven would take charge and help Kitra find and rescue Celeste. Iflet returned the key Oliver had borrowed from Viola this morning and placed it in his hands. As a result of this union, Echo, Hawk, and Fluorspar would be saved. Celeste too, would be saved afterwards. "We should-" And then the doors opened. Viola was here, smiling contently, eyes wide and pupils dilated. She was speaking to something that was not there, that could not be there. Riven called it a ghost but no one really knew what was going on. "Anya, are you a ghost?" Viola asked, flapping her arms strangely. "I knew it! Riven, she's not a ghost, that was rude!"

Julia glanced at Riven and her friends and shrugged as if to say she didn't know what was happening either. Viola sauntered off then, waddling as if she were a baby duckling. "Anya, wait up, I'm coming!" She waved to her friends and continued wandering off, Julia never missing a step in following her. Was she trying to make sure nothing happened to her, or was she doing something else? "I'll follow them." Dominic stood up, going after them. Jacob looked as if he wanted to, but he still needed to be updated on everything going on. "If you're well enough, Riven, you could come too. She adores you, so maybe you can help."

"You're strange." The vampire said with a smile, leading Viola on in their game. "You really do have the worst memory." Viola tilted her head, happy to follow along. "But Anya, I still don't understand. You said I'm the savior? I can save?" She wanted to be a savior, that sounded interesting. "That's right." Anya replied with a smile. "But please, my name is Ayna Arnarara, the Lurker at the Threshold." She seemed to know everything there is to know in the world. "I only know what you do, Viola. I can only show what you already know." There she was with the mind reading again! "I'm not mind reading. Is it possible for anyone to read minds without the power to do so?" "Anya, I don't understand." Ayna kept walking, leading Viola through the strange winding halls of Castle Seylum. "You will in time. Just keep thinking and uncloud your mind."

Uncloud her mind. Clear it of the poison stopping her from seeing the truth. "If you want to save your friends from the End World Day, you must see the truth." End World Day, it was the day the world would end and everyone would die. Viola was the Hero, so she was going to stop it. She only needed to remember how. "Why don't I already know if I'm the hero?" Anya smiled, grinning wide. "You were born in a cave, lived in a cave, knew nothing but the cave. The cave was your world. But now you walked outside the cave and must learn the current world now. You could not have imagined the green trees and the blue sky, but now they are part of your world."

"The brain is wider than the sky."

Viola tilted her head in confusion. "What? But the sky is so big and my brain only fits in my head!"

"The brain is wider than the sea."

None of this made any sense in the slightest.

"What makes a world?"

"Everything!" The answer was easy. "The world is everything in the Universe." Anya smiled, but did not seem satisfied with that answer. "What is the limit of the world?" Viola crossed her eyes. Limit? "Nothing, because the world has everything in it." Anya touched her brain and stopped walking, so Viola realized she had walked into a bathroom and stared at Anya who was standing in front of a mirror. "The inner world is what you can sense. What you can see, what you can feel, what you think, what you hear... all of those senses go to your brain and make your inner world. Naturally, that means everything else is your outer world." If all of your thoughts and senses are your inner world... "What's in the outer world, Viola?"

If everything... then...

"I don't know."

"The ocean is very wide, the sky perhaps even wider. But all exist inside your brain, thus your brain is wider than both."

At last they had made some sort of progress. Kitra agreed to work with them in expelling Iflet and Gavyn from the seat of royalty and to rescue Echo King and the baby demon being held in the basement. Riven was glad, she hated to watch unnecessary suffering. She was glad that they would at last be moving forward with some backup from powerful allies. They were going to discuss plans moving forward, but the door opened. It seemed Viola had made an imaginary friend, one she claimed was real, not a ghost, but no one else could see. "I'll follow her, I suppose." Riven stood, Dominic too, would come to check on Viola, since Julia did not seem keen to stop Viola in her fantasies. Riven could hardly understand why, Viola was touting nonsense.

Who was this Anya? Clearly she wasn't truly a ghost, otherwise they would have been able to at least see a waver of her outer form. "What do you think it is? Hysteria?" Dominic shook his head, he did not want to speculate, it seemed. They managed to corner Viola in a bathroom, talking wildly to herself and this supposed Anya. "Viola," Riven interrupted when it seemed she was done. "Are you alright? Do you have a fever?" She would have checked, but Riven didn't know what to look for. Dominic stepped forward, "Vi, you okay? You sleeping alright?" Dominic placed a hand on her shoulder, hoping that this was some temporary hallucination.

He placed a hand against Viola's forehead. "I don't recall an Anya ever living here. Do you know who Viola could be referring to?" Riven inquired of Viola, hoping that the older sister would have an answer. Riven figured it was worth a try, but Julia only shook her head. "She's been like this since Messiah tried to fix her wrists," Riven stiffened. Messiah had, had a go at it? She glanced at the bandages around Viola's arms. It seemed not even Messiah's power had the ability to fix what Iflet had had done. Perhaps some sort of trauma induced day dream was happening? Viola could be inflicted by post traumatic stress disorder. Should she see a Doctor? The vampires didn't exactly have one.

"Should we ask Athena if there's a history of anyone named Anya living here?" It would have had to be between the time Riven had left and Gavyn had come. What had happened during that period? Riven honestly didn't know. The vampire watched, hoping that Dominic would be able to bring Viola out of her reverie.

~~~~
"I'm back," Baron Lipidus set himself upon the bed. Echo was asleep in the corner, taking up the smallest amount of room as possible. He ran his hand over his eye, Messiah having restored both that and his arm. "You didn't touch your food," he noticed that the ankle chain was sitting on the ground, open. "Hey," Lipidius stood, looming over her. Echo awoke, stiffening instantly. She whimpered, covering her head with her hands. He softened, "you need to eat." Echo shook her head, squeezing her eyes shut. "I don't care if you don't want to, you have to. Your ribs are sticking out," still she shook her head. "Then I'll force you," he lifted Echo easily, who went limp in his arms. Lipidus set her down in a chair, the smaller demon unable to meet his eyes.
"Look, it's gone cold by now." She stiffened, balling the material of the nightgown in her hands. "Eat," Echo picked up the spoon, hand shaking. Anything she put on it instantly spilled. Tears welled up in her eyes, she braced herself, as though preparing to be hit. Lipidus softened, taking the spoon from her. "You've gotta eat if you want to live," but demons didn't need to, they could rely on mana. Now that Hawk was a vampire, since Echo was tethered to her, she had been feeding off of the minimal amount of mana that Hawk produced. "I won't let you see the baby again if you don't eat. Open wide," she opened her mouth at last, allowing him to feed her. She cried the entire time, squirming uncomfortably in her seat.
"Why are you crying? It's just soup."
"I-I don't want to e-eat Fl-Flo."
Someone put a hand on her forehead. Viola let out a slight eep sound and jumped backwards as if she had been attacked. "Oh, it's just you. Hey, don't touch me, I'm having a conversation with someone!" She thrust her arm to the left so show Anya, who was smiling and standing there like a very pretty vampire. "Thank you for the compliment." Anya said with a grin. "I don't think they'll believe I'm here though. They're not a Hero like you." Viola's eyes widened as she glanced at her friends, and then back at her mentor. "Hero... I'm a Hero! You said I'll save the world!"" She smiled, seeming happy, but also a little lonely. "The world will end and everyone will die. But I'm the Hero, so I can stop it." Anya nodded, patting her head. "Correct. You're such a smart one, aren't you?"
"There's no fever." Dominic said with a scowl, shaking his head. Something was clearly not right here and they needed to get to the bottom of it. "Whatever you're all planning, can you leave her out of it?" Julia's voice was abrupt. "My little sister is fragile. It's easy to break her, even if she might act strong. You really shouldn't put her in danger." Dominic stared at Julia and grinned. "What? We're not planning anything. This is the only place we're safe." Julia sneered, finding his attempt to lie to be laughable. "Safety, in the arms of the Seylums? You have got to be joking." Julia stuck a finger Riven's direction, ignoring Viola's babble for now. "Once you're bit and turned, that one can control you with commands. You won't have free will anymore." Suddenly Dominic grabbed her wrist and squeezed it hard. "That's my sister you're talking about." Dominic growled, his protective instincts taking over. "I'd appreciate if you didn't talk badly of her."
Julia turned her head, not interested in the the conversation anymore. Dominic decided to do his best technique to snap Viola out of this reverie. "This always works." He said, prepping his finger. He flicked her on the forehead and she let out a yelp, falling into a crouch as she held her head. "Dom? I - aaah! Eerrrr." Horrible throbbing pain in her head, as if someone was trying to rip open her skull and fry her brain in half. "What did you do?" Julia hissed, cradling Viola in her arms. "What kind of flick was that?" Dom shook his head. "Flicking her head snaps her out of her antics. Whatever's going on isn't me."
"Hey." Julia's tone was warm and worried. "Viola, what's happening? Are you alright?" She whimpered, shivering, looking pale and sick. "Hurts." She shut her eyes to try to force the pain out but it wasn't working. "L-like someone's trying to eat my mind and turn it into putty..." Julia stared at Riven and Dominic then. "It's a mental attack, someone's targeting her head." She paused and then said hastily. "No, it wasn't Iflet, so don't go after her. She didn't make this order." Someone was trying to cause trouble and saw Viola's mind as the easiest target to attack.
Riven watched as Dominic attempted to bring Viola out of her reverie, but it wasn't working. Viola seemed to think that she had been rudely interrupted when Dom checked for a fever. Julia glanced at Riven, she seemed to think that the vampire had something to do with this. Riven shook her head, if she did, she surely would have stopped this nonsense by now. Hopefully the others had disbanded their little meeting so that they were not discovered. Oliver had the key to the basement once more, as he was the least suspicious and had yet to even meet Iflet. "She started doing this last night, but I thought it might have been sleep deprivation." The pink haired vampire admitted.
Julia jeered at her, seeming to think that Riven wanted to turn them all into vampires in order to control them. Dominic defended her, calling Riven his sister. It was a surprise, admittedly, she didn't think the hunters thought of her as family. "Contrary to whatever you may believe," Riven added, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "I do not wish to control you. I only use the orders if one breaks the rules. Which you happened to do on the very first day." Riven did not need to remind her, she had inflicted punishment because Julia had hurt Viola. "And I think we have Viola's best interest in mind, considering you whipped her and tried to kill her." If anything, Julia was a terrible sister. She could claim she had Viola's well being in mind all she wanted, but her actions proved otherwise.
Dominic prepared the flick, bringing Viola back to them. Riven sighed, shaking her head, glad that for the most part, Viola was back. "Are you feeling alright?" She brought over a glass of water for Viola to drink, wondering if dehydration could have anything to do with it. "I know you haven't been taking care of yourself, you've been busy worrying about everyone else." She pat Viola's head worriedly, it seemed that she had been the target of a mental attack. Julia readily defended Iflet, which wasn't a surprise considering Iflet was her Master. "Why don't you just rest for now?" Riven suggested to Viola, who exclaimed her head felt like putty. "We'll get to the bottom of whoever is putting these thoughts in your head." There was a knock at the door, Slaine poked his head inside. "Um, I'm sorry to interrupt," he scratched his cheek in apology.
"Not at all, what is it?" Riven straightened, "Iflet is looking for you Julia, she asked me to come find you." Ah, so it seems that she and Gavyn had returned from their outing with a few of the Barons. "Also, Riven," Slaine shifted uncomfortably. "Gavyn requests that you and the hunters join him for dinner in the dining room tonight." Riven nodded, smiling patiently. "Thank you Slaine, tell him that he can expect our company," the dhampire disappeared once more, a ghost of the hallways. He went off to find Athena, knowing that she was more than likely slacking fo from filling out paperwork to reorder supplies for the castle.
~~~~~~

Baron Lipidus placed Echo back on the bed, tucking the blanket in around her. She flinched at every brush of the skin and jumped at every sound. He saw no reason to cuff her ankle for the bed for the time being, as it was obvious she could not walk or run. "Stay here," he ordered, going off to find someone to let him into the basement. He would bring Hawk upstairs, as it was clear that Hawk was the only one Echo trusted. She might be the key to getting Echo to open up to him. His orders rang clear in his mind from the vampire he had pledged fealty to. She had brought him Echo, yes, but he needed Nova. He needed to have her bare an egg.

Julia rolled her eyes, one of Viola's favorite things to do when in a mood. "I tried to kill her because dead is better than being used as a tool, by the humans, or by a certain vampire." She would rather Viola be dead and at peace than be a tool at someone else's will. "She's gullible and vulnerable and doesn't know how to care for herself. She knows nothing, and until she's dead everyone's just going to keep using her." It was more than obvious that Julia didn't trust Riven and friends in the slightest. "I whipped her in the hopes that maybe she'll snap out of it and realize what you're all doing. She's in danger as long as she associated with you." Dominic smirked with a bit of cruelty on his face. "Well, that clears it up. From everything you've said, it's quite obvious now that we love her more than you do. She's our family, you haven't been a sister to her for a long time."

Viola wasn't feeling well at all but at the very least she was sane now, her mind was once again her own. "I don't like them in my head. It's hard to think about anything." Even now it was difficult to just remember her own name. Which was Violet. No, Viola was her name, gosh, get it right already! Dominic, Riven, and Julia were all here caring for her. "Come on, let's get ready for the dinner." Dominic tried to pry Viola out of Julia's arms but Julia glared and pushed him back. "This is my sister, not yours! She stays with me!" Vi felt so comfortable in her sister's arms even as her head was exploding but she didn't like Dominic's distressed face either. "Viola can become an Officer with me and we'll work under Iflet, where we're safe from the Seylums." Dominic grabbed, eyes glowing red as he bit his cheek. "She'll die if she's turned before the soul piece is removed. You already threw her away years ago, you don't have a right to her anymore."

Dominic threw a punch, hitting Julia in the arm. She growled, biting at his hand as he tried to hit her face. Viola did not really want to be part of a custody battle. "Are the guests being violent?" Gregore stepped in, no doubt looking for Julia who had been summoned. "They're trying to take my sister from me." Julia muttered, tightening her hold on Viola who helplessly clutched at her head, too busy fighting the pain to really talk to anyone. "For now, we'll let them have her, okay?" The bartender didn't want a fight, always the type to choose a peaceful solution if he could. "For now, huh?" Dom grumbled even as Gregore handed Viola back to him. "So you're all in on this?" The bartender smiled and shrugged. "Who knows? Come, Julia, Iflet doesn't like being kept waiting." Julia glared at Dominic as Gregore pulled her away.

Viola locked eyes with her sister and there was something like longing in the younger sister's eyes as they were pulled away from each other. Her heart hurt and ached. Why did family have to fight? If Julia was her sister and Dominic was her brother, shouldn't that make Dominic and Julia also siblings? None of this made sense to her. "Your sister's a real piece of work." Dominic muttered as they walked back to the parlor to group up with the rest of the team. "I love her." Viola mumbled, still looking backwards long after Julia had been out of sight. "I love you guys too."

Riven grit her jaw, it took everything in her will power not to hit Julia. "I am not using her," she spoke calmly, careful to enunciate each word with purpose. "I gave everyone a choice, I warned them what would happen if they came here. They chose to stick by me, unlike your Master, who, if I remember correctly, unwillingly turned you and killed your demon partner." Riven was going to stick to her guns, she was not using Viola, as Julia thought she was. If anything, Riven had freed her from a life of being used as a tool. "And I'm actively looking for a way to heal those wrists of her's, unlike you, who seems to want to kill her to preserve the image of what you think your sister should be." No, she would rather Viola live and be free than dead in a ditch somewhere.

"Don't worry Viola, we won't let them get into your head anymore." Riven spoke calmly, reassuring the confused girl. The poor thing looked as though she was suffering terribly from whatever had tried to boggle her mind. "She doesn't need to become an officer, that's no better than being a slave." Riven would not let Viola become a vampire, or at least she would not allow Iflet to be the one to change her. If she did, Viola wouldn't be of pure blood. She would be no better than Julia or Alty. Julia's plan was terrible, she was thinking irrationally because her head was clouded with worries for Viola. Riven too, was concerned about her, but she didn't think that jumping straight to the last resort was necessary.

She also didn't think that punching Julia was the way to solve this. "Both of you stop!" Riven attempted to break them up without using force, she wanted to show Julia that she meant no harm to any of them, but Dominic was riled up. Gregore managed to pull Julia out of it, who, in a huff, handed Viola back to them. Dominic took hold of her protectively. "We're not going to let her hurt you anymore," Riven reassured Viola as they walked back to the parlor. Athena, Kitra, and Lilim had since left, but Oliver, Jacob, and Elise were there, with kaito providing entertainment in the form of a play. "Oh, you've returned." Kaito bound over to Riven, it seemed he had taken to her; although she wasn't quite sure why. Perhaps he had taken to all of them, eager to have more humans around.

"King Gavyn has invited all of us to join him for dinner in the dining room this evening." Riven informed them, making sure to use formalities because she was certain that kaito would report back to Gavyn. She did not trust the little lamb, he too, was a tool of their's. No doubt he knew much more about the castle and its affairs than he was letting on. Sure, he seemed innocent and was only a bit larger than Riven herself, but size had nothing to do with knowledge. "Viola is a bit confused, I'm afraid. It seems whoever was targeting her was purposely attempting to boggle her head." Dominic sat Viola down and Riven brought over a pastry and cup of water for her to snack on.

Viola whimpered as she was pulled away from her sister. It was almost physically painful, like nails scratching digging against her skin, her flesh. Both Riven and Julia wanted what was best for her, but despite her nature and her stature, Viola didn't think she was someone that needed to be taken care of especially. Elise was far more fragile, blind and traumatized by her past. Back to the parlor they went, where Elise, Jacob, and Oliver were waiting as they watched (well, Elise was mostly just listening) Kaito's excellent performance. "I don't remember you." She mumbled, staring at the young boy. "He was always with King Gavyn, so that makes sense." Oliver replied. It made sense that two blood servants wouldn't meet, especially with one spending the whole time in chains.

She nibbled on the pastry gratefully, like a rabbit, eyes dim and bewildered by everything that had happened. "Do we know who did it?" Elise asked sheepishly, looking around in vain as if she would be able to see Viola magically somehow. "Whoever they are, they got her good." Dominic looked agitated. Once he was the cool and friendly big brother type, but more and more he was getting angry and losing his patience. Perhaps with Oliver back and well, he no longer had the need to act as if he were Oliver himself. "We'll get them good too. No one messes with my family, I won't allow it." This here, these six people, they were the only ones he cared for anymore. He didn't have room in his heart to worry about anyone else but them.

"We should probably get dressed." Oliver stood up, thanking Kaito for having entertained them. Jacob groaned, looking a bit nervous as out of everyone, he was the only one who had never met Gavyn yet. "Let's hope I don't mess this up, heh." Jacob scratched his head bashfully, fully aware he wasn't the smartest drop in the bucket. "It was yummy." Vi nodded Riven's way. Elise held her hand out for someone to guide her so Viola got up out of her chair so the three girls could get dressed together, only to slip and get caught by - Oliver, instead of Dominic, who was mid dive to catch her. "I'll help the girls to their changing room." Oliver said kindly and Dom grit his teeth but nodded. "Fine. We'll be waiting."

Elise looked so pretty in her ballroom dress, like a graceful princess. She held her arm out and Oliver took it, guiding her to the two large ornate doors that would lead to Gavyn's banquet hall. Viola looked cute too in her exotic and alluring red, but no one other than Riven looked as beautiful as Elise did. It was a shame that she couldn't see it. An old man and a young big breasted woman stood at each of the doors, both of them bowing in respect. Ronoue and Nifa opened the doors, speaking in unison. "Welcome to King Gavyn's banquet, honored guests."

"I don't remember you either," Kaito stuck his tongue out at Viola. Riven watched to make sure that Viola ate and drank, hoping that some sugar would assist in clearing up the fog that protruded in her brain. Once that was done with, the girls went upstairs, Oliver escorting them in order to make certain that they found no trouble. Athena had been kind enough to arrange clothing for all of them for the banquet, Riven dressing slowly and deliberately in the outfit laid out for her. She made her way downstairs with the others, wondering why Athena had chosen something so short. "I hope we can get this over with quickly," Riven murmured. She was not looking forward to this meeting, knowing that it might be full of hostile chewing and awkward glances across the table.

The servants at the door bowed as they opened the grand entrance to the dining room. Riven dipped into a curtsy, signaling for the others to do so as well. She tapped Elise's arm, who seemed to understand and bent down, fumbling with her skirt. "Thank you, your grace, for honoring us with this invitation." She rose, tapping Elise's arm once more to tell her to rise. "Viola, would you mind guiding Elise to the table?" Riven whispered as Gavyn rose to take her hand. Yes, they had to pretend to be a happily engaged couple. Riven had to act as though earlier this morning he had not drugged her and handed her off to his sister to interrogate. Thankfully, Iflet found nothing of use.

"You look fetching," Gavyn complimented, taking in the dress. "Thank you, Athena picked it out in my stead." She turned to the others, the doors opened once more as the boys made their entrance. They were dressed in various shades of black and blue, wearing full suits. Riven took in a deep breath as Gavyn guided them to the table, there were place cards with their names. "The others will be joining us shortly," the others? The door opened as though on cue, Iflet entering with her gang of misfit vampires. They all bowed in respect to the King, making their way over to the table. Iflet sat at his right hand, Riven on his left. Thankfully Viola had been seated beside her and Elise in between her and Jacob. On the end were Dominic and Oliver, with the vampires sitting on the other side.

"I thought it would be nice for our forces to eat together, use it as a learning opportunity to get to know one another." The servants poured wine, blood wine for the vampires and regular for the humans. "What a good idea," Riven smiled, careful to subtly sniff her wine before taking a sip. It had smelled fine, but she couldn't recall if the blood earlier had smelled off. She would have to act normal, even if she felt a bit on edge. Her side throbbed at the memory of Iflet stabbing her in one last attempt to get any sort of information.

|| Until I throw away my dreams and become an adult || rachie ||

The dinner had gone well, though other than Gavyn seemingly being genuine about his attempts to get to know Riven and her party, not much else happened that night. Asking Athena about an Anya Arnrarara went nowhere, as not even Athena knew that name or what it meant. Perhaps it didn't even mean anything. Elise sighed, looking at the emptiness as she rose in the morning. It has been a few days since that day and she still felt just as useless as always. Other than a few colors and shapes she was completely blind. Ever since wicked threw the bomb and scorched her retinas, sight was impossible. "I have to make myself useful somehow." She whispered to herself. "The others are trying so hard too." At least she memorized the layout of her room now, knowing every inch of the place.

The one thing she was able to see now was the sunrise and sunset due to the influx of light and color the sun gave. Luckily for her, the balcony always did offer a beautiful view of the sun rising from the East. Elise carefully maneuvered herself over to look at the balcony and bask in the sunlight. She could feel the child winter air billow her hair and her nightgown but it was okay, she didn't mind it. "This is all I can ever see now." The sun was quite literally her light. As a vampire hunter, her best asset had always been her eyesight. The ability to accurately shoot enemies relied on her sight. But now... she couldn't even survive on her own, let alone try to fight. "I have to find some way to help." Life was dangerous here but so far they were okay. How long would it last until Iflet found ammunition to take them out once and for all?

She could hear the door creaking open. "Oh, hello?" Elise turned around, aiming her head in the direction of the hardwood door. Who was it? Elise wasn't yet at the point of being able to tell identity through the sound of their footsteps. Maybe one day she'd be that good but it was barely two weeks since she had become blind. "Who is it?" Whoever it was, they were walking closer. It was probably one of the maids or butlers around the place, ghosts in the halls that they stalked in. "Leave the morning tea on the table, please. I will drink it shortly." She turned back to gaze at the rising sun, breathing deeply. She did not expect to feel hands on her back. She did not expect to be pushed off the balcony, tumbling many stories down onto the rocky terrain below. Elise let out a gasp of surprise and then-

Viola whimpered, sobbing, clutching her chest. She really did it. She really killed one of her very best only friends in the world. "Don't think of it as murder." Anya Anrarara said with a smile, aiming Viola towards the sky. "Look, don't you see? I told you. To save the world, Heaven needs two beautiful angels at sunrise. You know what to do." That's right. Viola was the hero, after all. "The world is ending." Vi said softly, trembling, rubbing away the tears. "....I'm so sorry, Lissie." She gulped, deciding to be brave. "But to save everyone else, we both have to die. That's what it means to be a hero!"

She took a deep breath and then tumbled over the broken balcony railing, falling, falling, Elise's broken body was down there, laying dashed against the rocks. Viola closed her eyes as she heard raucous laughter screaming in her mind and then pain and impact and numb but it was okay because-

Baron Wernicke laughed as the deed was complete. The Baron of Confusion had learned new tricks of course. By focusing his power on a single weak point, he could control them into believing whatever he wanted them to believe. Now, two hunters had no doubt fallen to their deaths. "How idiotic of them." Baron Wernicke sneered, shaking his head. "Now, I must go inform Julia that Princess Riven killed them, then the King will be convinced to lock her up in a silver cage rather than continue to trust her." He was a soldier, loyal to Baron Messiah. Riven was a threat to the alliance of demons and vampires, and now two of her team were gone.

Riven and Gavyn had been spending much more time together, in order to prepare for their engagement ball. Between planning the ball, the wedding, and plotting the murder of Iflet and Gavyn, Riven was a busy vampire. The two had been talking late into the night, Kaito had fallen asleep in Gavyn's bed and Riven had fallen asleep on his couch. He covered her with a blanket, figuring there was no harm in allowing her to sleep there for the night. The last thing Gavyn had expected was for Iflet and Julia to burst into the room in the morning, Baron Wernicke at their side. There were tears in Julia's eyes, it was clear something was amiss. "What is it?" Gavyn asked, sitting up in bed, the blanket falling off of him. "Viola is-" Julia fell to her knees in tears.

"It seems that Elise and Viola were murdered this morning, someone pushed them off of the balcony. Baron Wernicke say he saw Riven go in there and leave." Gavyn blinked, "that can't be," he shook his head. Baron Wernicke raised his eyebrows in question. "What do you mean, that can't be? We have testimony from a Baron and two servants." Gavyn rose, grabbing his bathrobe to tie around himself. "Because Riven is sleeping right over here," he turned the lights on, the pink haired princess not so much as stirring from her slumber. "We were busy last night and she fell asleep, so I thought I should simply leave her." Riven moaned, pulling the blanket over her head. "Why so early?" She groaned, still wearing yesterday's clothes.

"What am I doing in here?" She murmured, sitting upright as she realized that this was not her room, nor her bed. "What are all of you doing in here?" Riven blinked, why was Julia crying? "She was clearly faking sleep!" Baron Wernicke cried, grabbing Riven's wrist. "Unhand me!" She wrenched her arm away, not taking kindly to suddenly being grabbed. "What is going on?" The Princess demanded. "Don't pretend!" Julia suddenly screamed, "You killed her! You killed Viola!" The vampire flung herself at Riven, who dodged easily, jumping over Julia and the table, landing on her feet. "What are you talking about? I did no such thing!"

"She's dead! She and Elise are dead and Baron Wernicke saw you go in there!" That made no sense, Riven had been sleeping the entire time. "Wait, Viola is... dead?" Her shoulders fell, Riven suddenly felt dizzy. "Take me to her," she said softly. Iflet blocked the door, "I said take me to her!" The Princess snapped, her red eyes aglow. Every vampire in the room straightening. She followed Julia, who took her to where Viola and Elise had been laid, a white cloth placed over both of them. Jacob and Oliver were both sobbing, Dominic stood against the wall, arms crossed, his nails digging into his shoulders. Riven sunk to her knees upon seeing them; still, lifeless, draped in white. "No," she whispered, her throat closing.

"See? I don't think Riven did it," Gavyn said pointedly, noting her grief. "I don't think she would do something so heartless."

"Princess," Athena said softly, kneeling beside her. "I examined the bodies, their soul pieces are broken." Their soul pieces? That meant... Athena held out the shards of them, "with them already dead, I was able to safely remove the pieces."

Riven threw off the cloth, Julia lunged, but Oliver was faster, grabbing her to keep her still. Her fangs dug into Viola's neck, she was still warm, there was a chance that it could work. She bit Elise next, working swiftly to cut her wrist and drip a bit of her own blood into their mouths. "Please, work." Riven whispered, begging to whatever higher power existed.

Pain. So much pain. Impact was such a loud sound that Viola could swear that the world was being split in two beneath her. Elise's breathing was shallow, she was quiet. "Viola." Elise managed, having realized it from Viola's voice as she fell. "Who made you do this?" Viola sobbed, the illusion leaving her. Wernicke was not cruel, he would allow her to die with her own mind, free from his control. "Someone... I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Lissie-" A broken cry broke from her lungs but it was interrupted by her blood filling her lungs. It was an odd feeling to drown in your own blood. Elise had no time left either. "Come here. It's cold... and I'm scared." Elise gave a smile in the direction she thought Viola was. "Hold my hand.... we'll embrace the end... together." Viola wept as she took it, too weak to say no. Together they closed their eyes and clung to the hand until together, it all ended.

...

...

...

Voices. Sounds. The world was roaring, it was too loud, too loud, too bright, everything hurt. Talking around her, about her, what was going on? Why did she feel so... empty? Not just... empty but thirsty too. She shivered, cold, it was so cold. "Quick!" Someone, was it Oliver, was it Dominic? "Blood, give her blood!" She heard the sound of blade slicing flesh, and then someone pried her mouth open. Blood entered, it was foul, but she knew it was Dom's blood. It tasted horrible but Vi felt strength return to her. She opened her eyes and - felt different. It was subtle, and it was impossible to describe. "Who was it?" Elise asked her, voice cold, eyes sharp. Vi stared at her arms, whole once more. There was only one explanation for this.

She was a vampire.

"Who else could it have been." Viola pointed her arm weakly in a certain direction. Oliver moved out of the way with a weak smile and looked behind him. The culprit was right there, why hadn't Vi realized this all along? "Baron Wernicke is the culprit. He committed treason against his vampire allies and tried to kill us off." Elise nodded, smiling. She stood up on shaky legs, a bit of blood leaking down her lips. So Dom fed her as well then? "Thank you. Restrain him." Elise said quietly and Dom and Jacob wasted no time in pinning him down so that he couldn't move.

Baron Wernicke thrashed, fury in his eyes. "What the hell! Release me! I was only doing as any demon should! These humans are plotting against you, King! They want to dethrone you, I can prove it!" He was telling the truth. If Iflet were here she would be corroborating the story and taking advantage, but she was not present, she was fighting with her Officers against the humans right now. "Considering how he lied to Viola for a week..." Dom grinned, looking Gavyn's way. "I don't think any of his words can be trusted." Julia grit her teeth, slashing her whip at him, tearing at his flesh, his skin, drawing blood. "Demon filth, how dare you. Princess Kitra wouldn't approve of something so cowardly."

"I was just trying to help you, King Gavyn." Baron Wernicke plead for his life, knowing if this didn't go well, he would be facing his execution. His eyes lit up, activating his powers - if he could confuse Gavyn then maybe, just maybe - another whip slash, tearing his concentration apart. "Don't use your powers, filth." Julia snarled, eyes wide with hatred. "My King, we need a verdict. What will you do with the traitor?" All eyes were on Gavyn now. What would he decide?

Riven waited, nails biting into her palms. She knelt beside them, biting down on her lip to keep from crying. Her bleeding wrist quickly healed, the blood staining her clothing. She didn't care. She needed them to move, she needed them to breathe. "Please work," Riven whispered in a plead, her shoulders shaking. A groan came from one of them, Riven looked up as Dominic ran forward, slashing his wrist and inadvertently activating his blood pact. She watched as the red ichor of life dripped into Elise's mouth, then Viola's. A sob wracked through her body as Elise sat upright, her throat scratchy, but alive. "Thank goodness," it was a sob of relief. Her innocence had been proven, tears dripped down her face. She covered her hands with her eyes, hoping to make it stop. She could not show weakness, not here.

Viola sat upright, pointing to Baron Wernicke. Riven wasn't sure what came over her in that moment, she grabbed onto Viola, hugging her tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay," Riven hadn't realized it until now. How much she cared for these humans, how they made her heart swell. When she was with them, Riven almost felt as though she herself was human. Dominic and Jacob moved to restrain Baron Wernicke, who tried to tell Gavyn that they were plotting against him, that they would dethrone him. Julia whipped the Baron in order to silence him. A hand touched Riven's head, Gavyn played with her hair as he thought. She was still holding onto Viola, like a child afraid to release her favorite stuffed bear.

"We'll execute him," Gavyn decided at least. He disentangled his hand from Riven's hair, moving forward, hands in the pockets of his bathrobe. "Slit his throat," his eyes glinted dangerously. It was clear that Gavyn was not taking this too kindly. If anything, he saw this as Baron Wernicke betraying him, himself. Dominic took out his knife, he didn't even hesitate to slit Baron Wernicke's throat. An eye for an eye, a limb for a limb. His soul piece clanked against the floor, Gavyn stepped on it, crushing it underneath his foot. "That seems a little cruel," Oliver murmured, scratching his head. Sure, Wernicke had betrayed him, but permanently killing him? Riven thought he deserved it. "I'm going back to bed, it's too early for this," Gavyn announced, returning to his room.

Riven at last released Viola from the hug. "How are you feeling? Does it hurt at all?" She still held onto one of Viola's hands. Her wrists were healed, it was clear that Elise could see. "It's going to be strange, adjusting. You're going to crave blood, a lot of it." Riven explained, their senses were also sharper. It could cause temporary pain like headaches and sensory overloads. Riven could still recall her first few days, the world was too bright and far too loud. King Seylum had kept the curtains drawn and made sure his visits were quiet. For the most part, he had simply sat there and read to her as she tried to adjust to her new surroundings.

Riven would do the same for Viola and Elise, if that's what she needed to. This was her fault, she had brought them here, she had endangered them and now... they were vampires.
