At his core, and at his worst, Dominique is far too like the animals he becomes. Therapy and a good support network have helped him overcome that for the most part, but it seems to be deeply ingrained into who he is. He can be violent, almost vicious. When he loses control, there is no such thing as fighting clean. He will do what it takes to win, and he doesn't care about "fair." He's possessive of things and of people, always afraid that they'll leave him if he isn't. He doesn't like sharing, and he wants people to be his and his alone. Since he's come to terms with his anger, he's realised that it's really because he's deeply insecure. He's afraid that people will leave him for something better, and he's deeply dependent on people.
But Dominique's animalistic nature also gives him some good traits. He's a team-player, a pack leader. He knows the value of a team, and will do anything to protect them and help them thrive. He's an incredibly hard worker, and will work at anything he sets his mind to for as long as it takes to succeed. He's incredibly aware of his flaws and is constantly working to improve them, and it upsets him when he loses control. He loves nothing more than to spend time with the people he loves. He's physical with his affections, and loves it when its reciprocated. One of his favourite things to do is to just lie across the laps of his friends as they talk. He hates the thought of hurting anyone, and gets incredibly distressed when he does, whether physically or emotionally.
Shifting into a different form is relatively easy for him, but he finds shifting back more draining. That said, if he is injured while in a different form, his body shifts back of its own accord. Shifting can be painful if the animal is significantly larger or smaller than he is, and it is more draining. If he passes out while in an animal form, he may or may not switch back. His clothes will not shift with him, resulting in a couple of awkward situations where he's been discovered completely naked.
He was thirteen when she was kidnapped and murdered. His anger issues were already starting to become evident, but they emerged with a vengeance around the same time his abilities did. His mother could influence emotions, and she found his entirely impossible to do anything with. He was losing control, and their neighbors were starting to whisper about the family. They moved away and lived a simpler life when he turned fifteen and when things hadnât improved. And when large, open spaces, a change of scenery, and a simpler, less luxurious life did nothing to help, and only seemed to make things worse, they sent him to Xavier, asking for help. His anger only worsened, but the school could control and manage it. They found him a therapist who was unphased by this angry teenage boy shifting into a wolf on two notable occasions, and who helped him work through his anger. Heâs still got a way to go, but itâs at least controlled now.
