Thessir

A scholar from below.

0 · 1,397 views · located in The Snapa-verse

a character in “Nomad Clan”, as played by Zalgo

Description

"I seek not power nor glory nor love, simply enlightenment."

Name: Thessir from the Downder.
Image
Sex: Male.
Age: 29.

Physical Description: He is the sort that definitely sticks out in the Qafar Desert. As is standard for people from the Downder his skin is almost completely void of melanin and his irides are nearly twice the size of what would be considered normal by any other clan. The enlarged pupils make most of the eye save the sclera appear black.

Aside from his racial traits he is a rather thin wiry sort. Despite his small frame however he is quite strong. His muscles aren't very distinct, hiding the strength of his short slender body quite effectively. He has rather long fingers and toes as well though this detail is also typical for Downders.
Clothing: His typical fashion is long dark clothing with a big hat. Though the heat is great he prefers to keep covered so his sensitive skin doesn't get burnt. He carries a lot of supplies for his travels in a big traveling backpack.
Height: 5'0"
Weight: 125 lbs.
Skin Colour: Pale White.
Hair Colour: Black.
Eye Colour: Dark Grey.

Occupation: Alchemist.
History/Bio:

Thessir was born to a family of silk farmers, people who farm a small type of spider known for it's ability to cooperate with other spiders to spin massive webs. He did not see the life of a silk farmer as the life for him however. He was more intellectually inclined, fascinated by the wonders of Downder. When he was old enough he sought to enter apprenticeship under an alchemist. Though his family were reluctant he was granted permission to study under an alchemist.

For years he studied all sorts of fascinating subjects. From ores and the properties of various gems to fungi and subterranean roots he developed a wide breadth of knowledge. He was a keen learner and definitely earned his way to becoming an alchemist himself when the time was right.

While attending a mining trip as he was looking for a particular mushroom which was known to grow in the area the miners opened a passage which revealed an ancient cavern. Within the cavern the remains of a city long buried sat preserved from the wages of time. This discovery thrilled Thessir. It was the remains of some long forgotten civilization, a mystery ravelled in mysteries all just waiting to be discovered. Before he could go down and investigate however a swarm of creatures emerged from the opening, clearly vexed by the disturbance in their home. Bats larger than men, spiders that were larger than the bats and all other sorts of nasty beasts attacked the miners and him.

They fought off the swarm but were forced to retreat. The Mining Overseer gave the order to have the passage collapsed much to Thessir's dismay. With the passage sealed the creatures were stopped but at the same time the way to the city was now blocked. Later Thessir appealed to the High Decider to open the way again so he can take an expedition down to the city but was denied permission on account of the dangers the beasts posed should they come up from the mines. That passage was then declared off limits and sealed with a large metal cap just in case the rocks ever gave way.

Inside the Downder there are no seasons, only cycles of paint. When such a time came as per tradition the one to go and reapply the sigils was chosen in a meeting of the alchemists and the High Decider. It was decided that it was Thessir's turn to undertake the ritual. Humbly accepting this sacred responsibility he set out alone to perform his task just as the first alchemist did all the way back when the paint was first discovered.

It should of been simple. Thessir had already applied three of the sigils, one for each corner of the cavern their city rested within. As he finished painting the forth sigil however there was a tremor. An explosion had been set off by outsiders down at the base of the mountain, folks who sought to try and forcefully carve their way through the mountain. Unfortunately for both them and Thessir the largest mountain of Bola Brisk doesn't yield easily to such simple tricks. Instead of an opening the passage was collapsed, crushing the trespassers and dropping Thessir in amongst the falling rocks.

It was through amazing luck that he survived the fall. Despite not being crushed by any of the falling rocks however the way back was barred from him by the large impassible rubble. With the only direction for him to go being forward he pressed on, trekking through unknown tunnels until he emerged into the world beyond.

It was night when he left the containment of the mountain. It was an alien experience for him, the sensation of standing with nothing but the blackness of the moonlit night sky above him causing some unease. While the change might of been somewhat off-putting and a little frightening he was also fascinated. To see so much in such little time was quite a rush. It was hard for his mind to keep up with the list of revelations simply seeing the outside brought. In addition to all that however was an element of panic.

As much as he would of liked to have returned to make sure the sigils were secure as well as to share his experiences with the other alchemists there was also the legend that all who left the safety of the sigils would be devoured by Scarmouth. He had yet to see it but he was in a hurry to not wait around and find out. With haste he fled from the mountains into the rocky wastes beyond. Over snowy cliffs with scarce plant life he easily traversed the land, finding the night to be bright like the day was for other clans.

From then on he's been traveling from settlement to settlement, offering his expertise in exchange for supplies. He typically travels by night, sleeping during the day as the vexingly bright sunlight would make it difficult to see and almost certainly burn his skin. While Bola Brisk has little sunlight making the land ideal for travel he's not one to stick to any one place for too long. He's always been fascinated with the old world and this was an unexpected opportunity to pursue other locations where similar cities might remain. In the meanwhile he's always happy to learn something new.

Home Town: Downder.
Native Clan: Downders.
Population: 162.
Settlements: Downder.
Location: Bola Brisk, The Qafar Desert.
Description:

They are a detached few, those who dwell within the mountain. These people have lived inside the deep caverns for longer than their history texts reach. They have positively no contact with the outside world due to the dangers the creatures who also call the cave home. While some outsiders have tried in the past to brave the tunnels in hopes of seeking passage through the mountains to see the lands beyond none of them have lived to speak of what lay within.

The most notable of beasts that live within the mountain is the dreaded wirm Scarmouth. This beast is a massive worm-like creature which tunnels through the earth by secreting a powerful acid which breaks down the stone ahead of it. As it's large enough to swallow entire villages in one bite, is several miles long and covered in enormous plates of chitin which form in flat rings around it's body, each one snugly overlapping the next so as to not let anything in between them, the idea of slaying it is rarely proposed and even more rarely ever taken seriously. Adding to it's lethality is also the fact that a wirm can expel from it's mouth almost it's entire weight in acid like a geyser of destruction.

They have a way of protecting themselves from the great wirm however. Their alchemists have passed along the recipe to this special concoction for countless generations, a concoction for a special glowing yellow paint which wards it away. Little is understood as to why this paint keeps wirms away but they use it nonetheless as it is what keeps their humble clan from complete destruction. Every ten months they hold a ritual for their reapplication of the paint.

As far as leadership is concerned theirs is none too complicated. They have what they call the High Decider, a person who passes judgement and makes choices regarding most issues within the clan. As their clan is fairly small this task is not too difficult though often the choices require wise consideration and stern resolve. Each other division of labor is overseen by the Overseers, those elected by the High Decider to Oversee any given group's task based on their specialty. When the High Decider dies and another one hasn't already been chosen then the last person to apply the sacred paint is made the new High Decider.

Downders, named of course after the Downder cavern in which they reside, are quite unlike most peoples in that having lived without any form of sunlight whilst subsisting mostly off moss and bat meat has changed them. Practically all Downders are able to climb with veritable ease as going anywhere pretty much requires climbing. Their eyes are strange and wide in order to pick up on faint sources of light. This allows them to see in nearly complete darkness. Their skin is completely white as there is no need for melanin when there is no sunlight.

The caverns which they live within are truly marvelous, unfathomably rich in all sorts of minerals. The underground river upon which their village resides upon is partly responsible for shaping most of these networks of caverns, making massive and spectacular caverns out of truly gargantuan veins of gemstones. This has led this clan to develop a superior knowledge of the uses one can make of gems. While in some fields their technology is woefully undernourished as a result of their isolation from the world in general when it comes to things taken from the earth they are well ahead of other clans in such branches of knowledge.

Personality:

Being from a clan completely isolated from all others it is natural for others to find him rather strange.

At first he can come off as quite creepy. He only travels by night and his large eyes which are as dark as the pits of the Shattered Earth seem to always be analyzing people not unlike how a crow would. He speaks with a soft voice and seems to accompany his words with gestures, talking with his hands as some might put it. As he is quite foreign his speech can come off as stilted since most languages are quite new for him making his accent quite thick. Not used to the customs most clans have grown to accept over the years he can come across as a very awkward individual in general.

Beneath his eerie appearance and quirky behavior he is a scholar at heart. He learns very quickly and enjoys every minute he spends doing so. When talking about something he possesses a real interest in he can be very enthusiastic. He enjoys reading, able to lose himself in rich texts with ease. With others he does try to get along despite how different he might be. When he's not on a spiel about a topic of interest he can be a real good listener. He doesn't mind helping people out and generally spreading good will on his journey to find lost civilizations.

That is not to say there aren't things that bother him. He finds animals often strange and intimidating since most creatures from the caves were nothing short of deadly. Bright lights hurt his eyes which he primarily travels by night. He dislikes violence though he is not above applying it at a moment's notice as hesitance was often rewarded with death back in Downder. He can be quite reckless at times, seeing the pursuit of knowledge first and the threat of possible dangers second. Ignorance and blatant disrespect towards fields he finds interesting irritate him greatly. He finds the company of those who would dismiss the intellectual quite burdensome.

Fears and Desires:

He finds the sky to be mildly disconcerting and animals are somewhat intimidating as well. Perhaps his greatest fear however is the loss of knowledge, the greater the knowledge the greater his fear.

He is truly a fan of new experiences, especially good food. As the food in the caverns consisted mostly of bat meat, mushrooms and moss the sheer variety of food from the lands beyond are simply astounding for him. His greatest hunger however is his desire for knowledge. Learning is in and of itself a virtue to him. He seeks to learn more of the ancient civilizations which precede him most of all. With so much to see and so much to know it's hard for him to contain his excitement.

Equipment and Weapons:

First to note is his clothing. His clothes, including his jacket and hat, are spun from spider silk. This silk is spectacularly comfortable, breathes easy and is very difficult to tear. This makes it excellent travel wear and rather effective light armor as well. Another interesting detail is that unknown to many spider silk is highly resistant to burning as well making his garments mostly flame proof.

He carries along a set of camping supplies such as a tent, a sheet to sleep under and a pot with a ladle to cook in. He also carries a special stone which sends out showers of sparks when struck hard.

His more miscellaneous supplies include books; maps; alchemic recipe scrolls; ingredients; alchemic tools; vials; a compass and a watch.

Lastly as a weapon Thessir has his trusty blunderbuss or as he calls it his shrapnel pipe. Though it might not be the most accurate of weapons it's convenient as it can shoot nearly anything loaded in it's barrel, cutting down on ammunition worries. Along with it he carries a rather hefty sack of Explode Powder as he calls it, his own special brew of powder which he loads through the muzzle before he loads the shot. It packs a real punch though it's recoil is also fairly strong.

He also possesses a dagger crafted from wirmshale, a type of rock which lines the wirm tunnels. As a result of the acid this stone is what's left of the stone that was turned into acid, pressed flat by a wirm's enormous body. This rock is extremely hard and it breaks apart into extremely thin, sharp fragments. While not ideal for longer weapons in need of flexibility and difficult to shape this type of stone makes for wickedly sharp cutting tools that hardly ever need sharpening. While the dagger's intended purpose was for utility in a pinch it can serve as an exceptionally effective weapon up close.

Styles and Abilities: He can see in nearly pitch black darkness and can climb and navigate rocky terrain exceptionally well. For combat he's learned mostly from first hand experience fighting cave beasts though in recent years he hasn't been exempt from being tested by the occasional bandit.

So begins...

"Don't think this is over yet," Uluru whispered threateningly near inaudibly to Mirova, though making it appear as if he nodded gratefully, as he looked to face Jake. "I know about as much as you do, kid. But listen to this woman," he nodded to Mirova. "We've been in some harrowing circumstances. We have one dead a few wounded. Help us get to the next settlement and we can peace together what happened at the bar and to your friend."

Mirova glanced up at Jake handed her the linen. With a grunt she began to tie it over her torso. "Aklar is big, the gate to the south - our journey for the Change can start in ernest there. But Clan Meltsand..." She licked her lips as she adjusted her hood. "I'd avoid it if at all possible, but-" With a sigh she turned, looking over the very tired camp - desperate to move to shelter. "-they don't have much of a choice."

The sun shone high above as the team marched above the dunes - Jake leading the pack, Skullivan bundled in his cloak following. The path out the camp had been dune after dune, no more a sign of civilization in one direction than another - but Jake seemed to know where to go. Skullivan squinted as ahead Jake had stopped at the peak of a dune, looking over the sands before marching forward again. He didn't trust Mirova or Jake, but as Mirova said, they didn't have much of a choice.

Skullivan glanced behind him, as Mirova's self-moving wagon chugged forward unevenly on the sand - the Nomad Mir herself and several of the injured positioned on it. "So what exactly is this Clan Meltsand?" Skullivan commented, more to the whole group than anyone in particular, as he stumbled in the sand behind Jake. "Why is Aklar so much better?"

Uluru leaned his head back against the wall of the carriage, watching over Mirova as she lay injured from their scuffle in the sands a day ago. Despite their efforts to get a move on, everyone seemed largely tired from yesterday's events and Uluru couldn't blame them. Nary a word had been spoken since then, but his impatience had grown and now he felt was the time to ask. ..."Nomad...nomad, wake up," he state, nudging the sleeping Mirova in the arm with his foot as she drooled on the floor of her own wagon.

"Not lava," Jake corrected. "Meltsand." He glanced up at the sun from under his hat, and then adjusted the wide-brimmed view. "We're making good time, we'll probably reach the town by nightfall. But we've passed into the boundaries of the Clan, so it's possibly we'll run into a scouting group. In fact..."

Jake paused, and raised his voice. "Listen, all of you. If we run into the Meltsand clan, keep your heads down and let me do the talking. They happen to know me, so we should be able to get by without fighting. I don't want any of rushing off into the dunes and attempting to snipe them, or doing some other stupid act that will get us all killed, since I'm quite aware that several of you are capable and willing to do that."

Shaking his head, Jake turned and kept walking, taking a small sip from the canteen at his waist.

The warriors of Clan Meltsand stood and watched as Jake stepped forward, their eyes narrowing as tthe Cowboy-Ninja stating his title before them. The burning war-machines and metallic contraptions of the clan surrounded him, spears and fire-blasters in hand of the warriors as the awkward silence of the interaction droned on.

From the top of the dune Skullivan squinted. "Did it... did it work?" He whispered, glancing over to his companions. At his words the camp below erupted into chaos, the warriors immediately smashing Jake's legs in with finely crafted metallic clubs. Skullivan gasped as the warriors piled onto their guide, repeatedly beating him as a war-horn blew.

"This is bad," Skullivan gasped, crawling away from the dune-top and back toward the wagon. "This is very bad!" The Wetland traitor began to sprint toward the front of the wagon, determined to get the motor revving again. "IN FACT! I'M THINKING WE SHOULD LEAVE!" He screamed as he ran, sanding kicking up to his feet.

Suddenly a fire-shot smashed at his feet, stopping Skullivan in his tracks. From the direction of the setting sun a handful of Metlsand warriors stepped forward - only four or five total, having flanked the dune, but with fearsome weapons in hand. One of them, a tall man with dark brown hair and a scruffy beard beneath red face paint, stepped forward - blue eyes examining the group closely. "Step back!" He called, his voice hoarse. "All of ya'll step back! My name is Slatheurian of Clan Meltsand, what is your business sneaking up on us?"

"It wasn't our intent to sneak upon you and your war party, Clan Meltsand..." Uluru greeted with a respectful nod. "We were merely lost in the Qafar and stumbled upon your clan in the hopes of finding food and shelter. The cowboy ninja led us here..."

"That cowboy son of a Sandworm?" Slatheurian hissed, his eyes lighting up at the name. He pulled out a metal club - it finely engraved designs and words from the Meltsand's heritage. "You best hope you and him aren't too close." Slatheurian aimed his club at Skullivan, who backed away slowly toward Uluru, Elise, Sƶren, Mirova, Rusten & Dustin who stood outside the wagon. "Now let's see who we got in here!" Slatheurian laughed as his guards surrounded the wagon.

"Those are our injured, they need serious help," Mirova spoke. "We were taken upon by Clan Aklar - ambushed and attacked."

With a glance at the stateswoman the lanky Meltsander marched to the entrance of the wagon and jumped in. "Looky here, pretty-thing not so good health," Slatheurian laughed as he stepped into the wagon, his weight shifting the balance as he stood over Musa. "Like those golden eyes- and what we got here," He said, glancing to the injured Whisper. "Pink hair - you some sort of witch?" He hissed, his teeth forming in a smile. "We got those too."

Slatheurian took a heavy step down the wagon toward Thessir. "A bit pale for the sun, ain't ya boy?" He smirked, glancing past him to the injured Aisha - still clearly in a pain. "And you, pretty lady, a bit too sickly," Slatheurian hissed.

"Let us go, we are no threat to you," Mirova called from outside.

"Can you prove that?" Slatheurian called, turning to her. "Can any of ya'll prove you're not spies for Clan Aklar? Huh?"

Ka'Wa inched closer, hiding off behind the wagon as she watched the stranger come closer. She peeked out, curious by the sound of his voice. Her eyes widened and she strolled out, laughter nearly bubbling out of her.

"Slatheurian, it's been such a long time, I can't believe it's actually you!"

The words spilled out of Ka'Wa who didn't seem at all fazed by the weapon in his hand. She took off her helmet in one, swift motion and placed it under her arm. Her red eyes squinted with the bright sunlight but a smile was on her face.

"With how relieved I am, I almost like you again."

Slatheurian paused, Ka'Wa's words breaking through the faces of the assembled travellers. At the back, talking to Musa, "Ka'Wa?" The Meltsander questioned, moving through the group toward the woman. His stride ended suddenly, he standing still as though witnessing some sort of bird in nature - unsure if he could get close or if it would fly away. "What are you- doing here? What the hell are you doing here?" Slatheurian questioned, his persona cracking slightly as he glanced back to the Metlsander Warriors who he brought with him and swallowed. "This is- a war zone, Ka'Wa," Slatheurian breathed. "What are you doing here?"

Mirova rose an eyebrow. "Looks like a past connection," She whispered. "This may be our way in..."

"Guess we're in the clear," Uluru sighed, leaning his head against the walls of the wagon. "Guess luck's on our side," he half-smiled. "If only more of life's problems could be solved by happenstance."

"Please, still your hand, Hono no Ko," Sulfurious shook his head, pointing upward. "As you can see upon the hill, my associates are escorting your comrades into shelter. I would suggest you do the same. If it were up to me, I'd have you thrown into the stockade for whay you did to us last time, but...if you travel with honored guests, I suppose we must at least extend that same courtesy...for now," Sulfurious noted, kicking off the boulder and offering Jake a hand to help him up.

Slatheurian nodded. "Okay. Follow me."

As the sun further set Slatheurian and his company of face-painted warriors began to lead the group down the side-path of the dune, the wounded helped and carried by the able as Mirova's wagon was left behind in favour of quicker transport. Slatheurian and his men were not quite gracious guides, but not cruel either - and for the few minutes it took their journey he seemed more consumed by fear than anything else.

"Okay," Slatheurian breathed as they reached the side of the dune. He glanced back at the team as the fires of the war-camp lit up ahead, it seeming even brighter now that the sun had nearly finished it's dip beneath the back of the horizon. "Everyone stay quiet," Slatheurian's nervous eyes turned to Ka'Wa. "And if you have to talk follow my lead."

Slatheurian nodded, taking the fire steps toward the camp. The entrance guards stood with their metal clubs in hand as he walked past. Skullivan and Mirova followed uneasily, the rest of the Nomad team too stepping forward. "I have a bad feeling about this..." Skullivan hissed, eyeballing the war machines and soldiers that glared at them as they entered.

Of course, there was another event in the camp distracting from the groups entrance - mainly that of Jake getting his body beaten to a bloody pulp by a group of brawny soldiers. "Shaman!" Slatheurian called, raising a hand up for the group to stop. "Shaman Sulfurious!" He called again, running forward toward the camp. "I found... I found refugees from an Aklar attack," Slatheurian spoke, his mouth twisting as he lied. "They need our- our compassion."

"True. Let's hope it turns a blind eye to us for a few moments longer..." Uluru nodded as they were led further into the camp of Clan Meltsand.

"Ah, refugees from the wretched Aklar," Sulfurious nodded. He glanced at Jake. "It appears your words ring true! Escorting these pilgrims from a vicious Aklar raid! Quickly, then we don't want to keep your charges waiting," Sulfurious nodded, ushering Jake along to join the Nomads.

Slatheurian breathed, his breath visible in the cooling desert air. He was internally screaming at how quickly the Shaman had accepted his explanation, even the badly beaten cowboy was taken in. "Th-Thank you, Shaman," Slatheurian bowed, though Sulfurious had already moved on to deal with other matters. Slatheurian turned to the group, looking like a child who had never expected to get this far in his ludicrous plan. A smirk came onto his face but disappeared after another moment. "This way, refugees," Slathuerian announced, marching forward with the group toward a large animal tent made of tanned leather.

"Get the healers and the Shaman's priestesses, we have a group in desperate need of attention!" Slatheurian called as the tent opened up, revealing a sea of Meltsand medicians inside.

Slatheurian smiled, his eyes locking with Ka'Wa's. "I missed you," He mouthed as the group walked forward.

Slatheurian gave a slightly eager smile before slithering away as the group entered the tent.

"We have injured," Mirova said, letting the brown-robed medical staff of the tent rush forward toward Musa, Aisha. "Including me," She added, raising her cloak weakly to reveal the bloody bandages on her rips.

"If we're being realistic I feel like we're all sort of malnourished," Skullivan whispered as a gloved hand of a healer led him forward toward a bed - one of several lining the tent. Rusted, scavenged metal bed-frames coated with leather skins of desert beasts. Save for a duo of injured soldiers, one fat and one small, in the corner they were the only patients in the tent. "Oh thank god," Skullivan exhaled, collapsing onto the bed fast first.

Mirova was gently laid onto a bed a few rows down, two robed Meltsanders began to disrobe her cloak to tend to the wound. Across the tent the others were treated too, the hospitality of the Meltsanders betraying their reputation. "You," Mirova commented, her eyes going above the nurses to Ka'Wa's passing form. "I saw what you did." The middle-aged woman smirked, before laying down and letting the healers work...

Thessir never traveled by day. This day was no exception.

In the wagon he had rode, in a box he slept. He had made space in one of the food crates for himself and tucked himself in, taking whatever belongings that weren't destroyed in with him. A mildly snug fit but nothing he couldn't tough through until the night set.

His dreams went undisturbed. Though the bumps in the sandy trail occasionally gave him a jostle he was not distrupted, especially after having been kept up late as he was. The nights were kind, the days held no love for him. This form of poetic talk was not something Thessir indulged in however. To associate a motive to something is to assume a mind is in control. If the day and night cycle were directly operated by someone or something he found it highly unlikely that they would have an opinion on him specifically. Unless leaving the caverns was taboo to whatever minds he wasn't really sure even existed he was fairly happy with assuming they had no personal feelings towards him. Strange dreams indeed.

He hadn't been roused when the wagon was brought up to the Meltsand Clan camp. Thankfully his kind were not the types to snore in any particularly loud fashion so he went well undiscovered, even as everything was being brought in.

Skullivan sat on his bed, facing the wall of the tent. Tanned leather, bending inward with the continuos thrust of desert wind. The temperature has dropped, as it had the two nights before in the desert, but inside the tent it was warm - the fire hanging from glass holdings warming the injured party. He glanced back at the team. Mirova, now recovered, lay with fresh bandages covering her torso - her mouth open as she'd drifted into a sleep. The Wetland Traitor, as he was still known among his native vessel, eyes narrowed on the woman - on the golden idol she'd still managed to hold onto. He didn't trust her. He couldn't trust her.

Skullivan lay down on his side, the creaking of the tent a welcome white-noise as he shifted on the stiff leather bed. His mind went to the day earlier - to the plant grown from nothing in the sand. The idol contained properties the Wetlanders had never before seen, properties that convinced them the concept of life-reborn in the rock of a desert were possible. Properties that sounded an awful like the Qafarian legend of the Change. Skullivan blinked as he lay, his gaze still longing off into the tent wall - beyond which the comings and goings of the night-time war camp shone through. They were quite unlike the Leviathan, and here in his tired state he began to wonder what his old allies were doing - what she was doing.

Exhausted came over him. Soon his body was limp, his head buried into his fur pillow, and his mind drifted off into the land where no other person could follow. A world inside the Wetlander's head. A world of images from darkness. A world of dreams.

And seemingly, just as quickly as he'd drifted into that world was Skullivan ripped out of it. A sonic rip of an explosion blasted the Wetlander into awareness, almost knocking him off his bed. Blinding sunlight greeted him. Skullivan's eyes popped out of his body as he scrambled to his feet, immediately catching his foot on his bed and smashing his jaw into the rock ground of the tent. "OW OK," Skullivan hissed, blood gushing out of his face as he weakly rose. "Okay... okay, what-WHAT AH," Skullivan screamed, pawing at his face. "I'M BLEEDING! I'M BLEEDING!"

Mirova glared at Skullivan from across the sunlit tent as the healer's went to treat his jaw. Sunlight shone through the leather, and through the open entrance of the tent Metlsander's ran in training formation, their faces coated in red face-paint. Another explosion rocked the camp as suddenly Slatheurian entered. His face-paint was washed off, revealing the bright-faced bearded man underneath, and his dark hair hung wetly off his freshly showered form. Despite a night of rest his blue-eyes looked very tired.

"Don't worry gang, just training exercise," Slatheurian smiled widely at the group. "Welcome to the Meltsander Camp, team. How are we all healing?"

"That's a pretty sweet secret, dumby," Mirova's voice hummed from behind Bohdana's ear. The Nomad, eyes half open, tired and with a robe resting open beneath her shoulders, gave a smile as she sat behind Uluru and she. "The Meltsander's are dangerous. I'm not sure you needed to see them melt sand to assess that."

Mirova's ruby eyes turned to the light of the entrance, where the soldiers were training. They lit up brightly in the suns rays. "They're dangerous... and they're going to war."

At the other side of the tent Skullivan held a bloody bandage to his jaw, eyeing Mirova from across the way. With a sigh he collapsed down on a bed beside Aisha, who was still recovering. "Hey," He began, glancing to her - his deep voice vibrating the metal frame slightly. "You guys alright?" He questioned, glancing over to Musa, Sƶren, and Thessir at the beds across from them.

At the entrance of the tent Slatheurian maneuvered over to Ka'Wa as she approached. "Listen, no problem. Ya'll- clearly not in a good way," Slatheurian smiled, putting a hand behind his back. "In all honesty this ain't the type of group I'd imagine you with, Ka'Wa. What are you doing out here?"

Aisha, as usual, had woken early, but it was quite comforting to finally awaken without being in excruciating pain. The discomfort was still there, but, the work of the healers was quite skillful, moreso than Aisha had thought possible. Perhaps they had dealt with stab and gunshot wounds more often, being the medics of a war camp, but what they were able to accomplish with Aisha and the terrible state she was in by the time they dealt with her was quite impressive. Flesh disinfected and skin stitched, yet massive ugly scars remained, which may never heal entirely. Such scars remained hidden under the white gown she wore, although Aisha practically felt naked in such a small amount of clothing. Still Aisha would most likely heal on the inside in time, assuming infection didn't take her.

Aisha's other robes were folded neatly beside her, so, she took the opportunity to dress herself before the other occupants of the tent woke up, and she was quiet about it as well, the only significant noise being made was the rattling of Aisha's many beaded bracelets. Aisha had her Chakrams with her too, although they must have taken them off her neck and placed them with her robes, assuming they were just more ceremonial jewelry. For the most part, they were, but nobody among the group was fooled by that anymore. Aisha didn't want to have to use them as weapons anytime soon, however, and not just because she had no desire to be involved in any conflict. Aisha was still recovering, and although she had the strength to speak and move around in small intervals, fighting was out of the question.

Still, there hadn't yet been any questions tossed their way, or at least, not yet. Still, it was hardly difficult to tell that Aisha was a mystic of some kind, for hood, sash and robes aside, she certainly didn't have the fashion sense to be a noblewoman of any kind. Perhaps her status as an acolyte would indeed protect her, but Aisha would have to be careful as to not expose her Clan's loyalties. The Meltsand Clan was not an enemy of Samariamus, but they weren't an ally either.

Still, this was such a great opportunity for Aisha, encountering a Clan that had most likely never been preached to before about the righteous path, to possibly bring guidance to troubled lives and possibly spread the Creed's ideas within a Clan, should they gain traction. It was opportunities like this that Aisha was proud to be a travelling acolyte for, to become a missionary of the real Change. Perhaps Aisha was already of regarded by her peers as a shining example of a loyal and devout follower, but now, Aisha was beginning to see new potentials for her, on this journey to find the Change. The words of Aisha's fellow Clanswoman echoed in her mind; "To me, it's a sign, it's destiny." Maybe it was a destiny, but as Aisha's teachings told her, destiny had no power unless you seized the opportunity and worked hard.

"Sir," Aisha spoke up, before immediately prostrating, "I must thank you utmost dearly and truly for the empathy and compassion you have allowed us, you and your hard-working and generous Clan. Your healers have restored both our physical well-being, as well as our spirits, to the best of their abilities, myself being the most affected. You've allowed me pliability, and now, I am finally able to continue fulfilling my purpose in life. So truly, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!" Aisha bowed with each thanks, practically smashing her head against the ground. She continued, "And, despite all you have done for us, I only wish to ask for one more personal favor."

"My name is Aisha Abdul'la and I am a preacher of self-improvement. I was wondering if it was possible if I could preach to the men here, to help boost their morale and perhaps give them more focus in their duties. It is the least I can do to repay for the compassion your Clan has granted to my group, including my own very well-being. It is my duty to provide guidance to those in need, after all. Also, I wish to be able to grant my personal thanks to the rest of your great Clan. "

Aisha should have apologized and she certainly knew that she was supposed to apologize, but, the evil feeling of defiance had taken her. "No," was her response, "I think I will preach. The power of words is mutually understood to be highly powerful, so, let me make use of my power to speak, for it is clear that there are some things that must be said in order to help us all." With that, Aisha stood up and raised a hand, indicating authority. She cleared her throat.

"My fellows," Aisha declared to the rest of the tent, "It is clear that we are all victims of circumstance, in one way or another. We have all experienced the same attacks and witnessed the same things, and here we all are, at a crossroad of interests. We all have our own beliefs and our own loyalties, but, what we all saw was undeniable. Yes, I admit that it appeared extraordinary, but to call it the Change is quite a brash label. Still, it is clear that, Change or not, this is something worth investigating, something that could possibly improve lives, should we continue this line of pilgrimage. After all," Aisha glanced at Skullivan, "We are clearly not the only ones investigating this."

"So, our situation is as such: She who claims leadership," Aisha glanced at Mirova, careful not to announce her clan, "Wishes to continue this investigation. Bare in mind that there will likely be many risks in doing so, for it is clear that there are people who are willing to harm us to gain what we have. Those of you who are motivated by greed and personal gain, leave now, and you may find forgiveness." Aisha looked back at Mirova and said, "Nobody is an exemption."

"Those of you who remain selfless, those of who wish to help Skullivan, those of you who are willing to give up their biases and grudges for the sake of assisting others, those of you who seek righteous path, and those of you who wish to find the Change. If any of these apply to you, then, pledge yourself to Skullivan now, as well as to the others in this room who are also willing to pledge, and swear that you will clear all grudge in order to be willing to help the others around you, regardless of your aquaintence with them. Such are the terms of pilgrimage." Aisha turned to Skullivan and bowed. "I, Aisha Abdul'la, grant you authority over my actions."

"Well... whilst I'm still not too sure of this Skullivan person, I can't turn down someone in need." Xaverius had kept himself quiet for quite some time, mainly because he thought he was being a bit too abrasive during earlier events, he'd used this time to contemplate all these other faces he was now around, what their personalities were like, such as the very bold Aisha, who he was only just now interacting with, though he was not sure how someone like her would take a scavenger such as him, but as long as he kept to his morals he set out on when he started his life, he was sure they'd at least not hate each-other. "When I set out on my own 22 years ago, I made one of my goals to be to help whoever needed it, make the wastes less of a hell for everyone, y'know? So yeah, I'll help Skullivan out with whatever he needs, besides, I can understand why he ran away from the Wetlanders, not a nice bunch." He took a quick glance at everyone, just to better adjust himself with their faces. "Also to all those here who don't know me, I'm Xaverius Rusten, a scavenger, nice to meet ya all!" He put on a cheery grin with his introduction, as late as it was.
