Primary Abilities/Strengths:
- Archery - Haruna is somewhat skilled with a bow, and can even fire a decent shot aboard horseback.
- Cooking - Though not as skilled as some of the other servants, Haruna does know how to cook.
- Reading and Storytelling - Haruna can be quite enthralling when telling a tale, a skill developed to entertain herself, as well as the now missing princess of Althuum.
- Sewing - Haruna is quite capable of fixing simple tears in clothes and the like.
- Basic Medicine - Haruna has assisted in catering to the wounds of the injured, at least in terms of sterilising, medicinal herbs and bandaging, though these skills are a little out of practice.
- Loyalty - Haruna is fiercely loyal to her adoptive parents, as well as her one friend.
- Fast Learner - Haruna is quick witted and fast to learn the basics of new things, despite her memory. Perhaps a testament to her will and determination.
- Dexterous - Haruna is quite lithe and acrobatic, and used to quite enjoy doing flips and cartwheels when she was little. Sheâs also very skilled with her hands from learning archery and sewing.
Primary Weaknesses:
- Naive - Having lead a relatively sheltered life both in her mercenary group and the castle, Haruna is inexperienced in a number of areas, and can be foolish.
- Etiquette - New to the role of royalty, Harunaâs etiquette is barely adequate, though she tries her hardest.
- Knowledge - Harunaâs relatively limited in what she knows, particularly in book smarts.
- Guilty - Though she doesnât tend to show it other than some melancholic expressions, Haruna often berates herself over mistakes, and feels terribly for what happened to the previous royal family.

- Envy - Despite her regrets, Haruna has a tendency to covet that which she doesnât have.
- Memory - Haruna tends to have a poor memory, mostly in the long term, but occasionally the short. She gets bits and pieces, but they usually end up jumbled or fuzzy. Trying too hard to remember also tends to lead to headaches for her.
Personality:
Harunaâs personality is a bit of a mixed bag. Sheâs learned and changed who she is a few times over the years in a bid to satisfy her parents or the roles sheâs been assigned, showing a strong dedication to them and performing well. Though playful, rebellious and friendly initially, this side of her has been hidden beneath a shell as she does her best to remain âproperâ as her mother taught her. As a princess now, she does her best to act âas a princess wouldâ and often hesitates to ask herself how she should act rather than simply being herself. As such, despite her craving for company, she keeps others distant so as not to be discovered as the âfraudâ she feels she is. When not trying to put on this persona, Haruna enjoys the outdoors and freedom, warm spring days in sunlight and starry nights in a cool breeze. She strives to earn affection, adoration and respect; living for praise, but often feels like a failure when she is unable to meet expectations. In fact, itâs quite common that she is overly critical of herself, despite no apparent mistake. She can be forgetful, and this is perhaps the item that causes her the most personal grief. Still, behind it all, there's a vibrant young girl who simply wants to do the best for herself and those around her. If somehow one could catch a glimpse of her in private, they'd find she's quite different to the princess she attempts to be, and might just see the childish and fun loving girl she hides.
Biography: Haruna didnât remember her birth parents. According to her human adoptive father Renaer Lingquis, her parents had been murdered by bandits and his mercenary troupe stumbled across her as a small baby bawling her eyes out in a cupboard. After that, he took her on and raised her as his only daughter. As she was a part of a mercenary army, she learned to hunt and earn her keep, even if she was kept away from combat in favour of her assistance off the battlefield. Her father taught her the bow. Her mother, medicine. Cleaning the camp, cooking, mending, all the simple maintenance tasks she learned to some degree from her large âfamilyâ, but still, there was no one her age to play and enjoy herself with. As such, she was often playful, mischievous and rebellious, even if this often ended in scoldings from her mother, Liaris. Given her penchant for trouble, the skills she learned and the fact her father didnât want the life of a warmonger for her, Haruna was given an opportunity as she grew slightly older.
The day she was accepted as a handmaiden into the Althuum royal family was like a whole new world for her. Personally assigned to the princess of Althuum, she saw how wonderful a life high-society was, even if Haruna didnât always get to partake of it. Servants catering to whims. Food prepared. Clean, fanciful clothes. It was incredible. Even working as a servant, her life was dramatically better off, though at the same time, the days were hard working to do everything she could for her mistress. But it didnât stay that way. It seemed it had been planned that she and the princess might become friends. They were around the same age after all, and given how much time Haruna got to spend in serving her, the relationship grew beyond that of a servant and master. They werenât orders anymore, simply requests, and even then, Haruna was given more freedom than the other servants. A personal confident for the princess, she learned many things, and similarly, taught the princess much of the world outside the castle, even occasionally sneaking off the grounds. They got to play games together, sing, dance, tell stories, speak of hopes, dreams and the future. Honestly, those days were some of the happiest and most care free in her life⊠And yet, somewhere inside of her, she always felt the pang of jealousy for what the princess had.
That feeling of envy⊠Well, in some respects, Haruna blames her hubris for what happened next. Althuumâs weakness lead to a coup d'etat, though the exact specifics of how it all came to pass is hazy for her. Somehow, her father managed to seize the castle and political power, while the royal family themselves disappeared and escaped into nothing more than a memory. The princess, her one friend, had vanished. But in her wake, a void had been left. With her father now the ruling power, her mother came to see Haruna a few days after the revolution. With the political climate still hostile and uncertain, it was determined that a new princess was needed. After all, Haruna was quite fair, and the people needed a warm, delicate face to look up to. So Liaris began to teach Haruna the etiquette sheâd need for such a position. How to dress. How to act. So many more rules. Honestly, it was very draining, but the state needed a charming figurehead. Besides, she owed it to the princess to do what she could to maintain civil peace and bring about her hope for the future. Though she may not be as well versed or regal as other princesses, Haruna strives to do her best to meet expectations and maintain the facade assigned to her. Her parents urge her on to do so, but just as she felt while a child, Haruna is quite lonely. She always strived for her parents love, but despite how quickly she learned, how well she fulfilled the roles assigned to her, it always felt⊠Lacking. Maybe it was all in her head. Sheâd just have to become the best princess she could and earn their respect and adoration. Although⊠Now she was princess, Haruna began to realise why the real princess spoke of feeling isolated and distant...
This was the life she wanted⊠Right?
