Introduction

Regalis: Once a beautiful, lush planet, thriving with dense, flourishing flora and an elaborate array of fauna is now in turmoil. The lands were covered with rolling hills and dense brush, mountains tore into the clouds and the trees once threatened to contest their reach skyward. The indigenous life forms seemed to live peacefully, only consuming what they absolutely needed to survive. There were few to be considered evil, bigots were few and far between and the rapacious ones found their place amidst each other, consuming the week and stamping each other out as the gluttons they were. It was not to say that all was well, but after years of war fought by early beings, peace swept upon the land like a breath of fresh air.
Here, elemental energy floats upon a plain known as the Aether. It is an unseen plain of existence but the inhabitants of Regalis can tap into this energy and depending on their training and mental prowess, can warp the elements that comprise the world.
That was in the beginning. Then, it was beautiful. Then, there were those that believed that all was right. There were also those that thought to tear the peace asunder…and render it as blood and bones beneath the hooves of vial creatures pulled from the depths of some boiling bog or pit reaching within the nether realms of Regalis.

After centuries of development of the myriad races of Regalis, there was the Renaissance. This was a time of great prosperity for the Val, beings much like you and I; and the El’Dren En Val. El’Dren En Val simply means children of giant men. As Regalis is a world rich in its history, some of it speculated as lore and simple story telling, these peoples were very closely linked to their pasts and the strife of their ancestors. The history of the El’Dren En Val is rich, as their ancestors were truly giant man in comparison to the Val. The Val are so closely related to you and I that I’d not need to explain to you what they look like, nor their average size. The ancestors of the Val are just the same as ours as well but that of the El’Dren En Val were humungous beings. Doomed to reduce in size over two millennia, the world changed and the giants were locked in war with a race of reptilian beings over land and resources. They were forced to adapt and as their size reduced, they needed to grow accustom to the world that was changing around them. They moved into the trees, learning to use the branches, bows and canopies to enhance their lives. It could have been said that as a remnant of their ancestors’ size, they preferred to dwell high above the land, still savoring the view that was in their blood.

With the booming Renaissance these races learned to trade knowledge, resources and even love began to flourish between members of the races. Carried over from their ancestors, the El’Dren En Val still harbored a profound hatred for the Biel Tek’in Viez, the reptilian race that their forefathers spent two millennia battling. War exploded after the Renaissance but it had been a wondrous time for the El’Dren and the Val and it had propelled their knowledge to levels unseen by any race of Regalis. As the ancient wisdom of the Firsts, the most advanced race of the ancient world, was dying away, resting within few as innate abilities; the newly forming sentient, intelligent races were making a way for themselves. When war broke out again, the Val and the El’Dren joining forces against the Biel to end the conflict for good, the allied forces drove the Biel back to their homeland. They would finally bring an end to the tyranny of the Biel, as they’d plagued the Inples, simple, calm giants of stone and earth; and the punyimpas, small, frail fairy-like creatures of wind and floral magic. They drove the creatures back in a grand, elaborate campaign. Marked with blood and alarming death counts for both sides, this was the bloodiest war in the history of Regalis.

In a last ditch effort to cease the bloodshed, the inples and the punyimpas rallied behind the allies, raising arms against the Biel and their twisted, mangled reptilian steeds and reptilian-primate brawlers and forced the Biel into a corner. This had been their plan. They reduced the Biel numbers drastically but when the Biel retreated into Mt. Halimar, the inple hurled massive stones of softer sediment and mounds of limestone and andversandt against the cavern entrances. The punyimpas used their abilities and sealed the cavern shut, locking the ragged lizards away for their treachery. Life imprisonment in a dungeon of extreme inner-planetary temperatures with nothing to feed upon but one another was enough of a punishment for their war crimes.

The campaign was over, celebrations took place and the pain suffered would always be remembered. Documents were created and once signed, ensured that the four races would come to the aid of the others when danger loomed over the horizon and these sacred pacts were upheld for years but time makes one forget. The vals grew rapacious and wanted everything in the world for themselves. The El’Dren people were consumed with watching Mt. Halimar and become disconnected from the outside world, becoming reclusive within nature's bosom. Their minds became warped and they saw men growing, flourishing, creating machines of woods and metallurgy. Metallurgy was a plight in the eyes of the El’Dren, it was not of nature. The El’Dren attacked with the aid of the punyimpas, the smaller beings using their powers to spread vines and roots upon the contraptions of men, bringing them to the ground. The El’Dren people were determined to destroy these constructs and mechanisms, breaking them to dust to be ingested by the planet.

The val leaders found the grantz, a subterranean race of pale beings that specialized in metal craft and the shaping of the rarest metals. The inples would mine the andversandt for the vals and they would take the rare metal to the grantz and they would make powerful weapons of andversandt and mythril. With this, each side wielding a powerful weapon, perfect for enemies that they knew so well as recent allies, the Regalis War started. Deep within Halimar, an ancient enemy was awakened by the hatred swelling within the biel, left to consume one another. Their bellies growled for flesh but they were not allowed to die. Their minds rotted, begging for reprieve but none was given. Their hatred swelled, so potent that it could have become tangible. Their yelps filled the caves below as they lost all reason and were twisted into gnarly, disgusting creatures. They were being warped by the evil lying in the Deep of Halimar and soon, they would be released, their tyranny returned, their hatred brimming. The prospect of flesh was so sweet. El’Dren flesh was so sweet.

With the Val/El'Dren war at a standstill, the races of the world chose sides, the Inple and Drag'Konin siding with the Val to form the Engineers and the El'Dren banded with the Punyimpa and the Drazyll as the Forestfolk. The war has come to a precipice. The precursor to the battle ahead was the looming threat of the opening of the Seal.... But who is going to open it...

King Leogoryth of the Val is dying. He is sick, he is senile. But even those on their deathbed will not be sated, their hunger will not be calmed, their thirst unquenchable. Even as the king looked over his body in a mirror, even as he was sickened by liver spots, even as he seldom recognized himself amidst the wrinkles, he still had one last conquest. He didn't care about the bonds that Tatroi created, he still wanted the northern lands, even if that meant destroying the people that his own once called family. If he was going to die, the world was always going to know his name. He would test the Gods' glory. It would be his name atop the doorways of halls and theaters and they would erect statues of him. These statues would tower over the tallest of towers and steeples and he would brandish a golden sword that would pierce the clouds above Mt. Halimar. He was crazed in his old age. But he could not attack without provocation. But he got what he wanted via scout.
Fredrick Olofson was sliding around a corner. He had the most urgent of news. He needed to relay this information to the king. It could have been delivered by anyone but he would deliver it with his own lips, for he hated the El'Dren. He was not sure as to why he hated them so, as he had no real reason to...but most hadn't.
When he neared the dining hall he was stopped by the court guards and one of them said to him, "Olofson, the king is having his lunch. He asked not to be disturbed..."
"You don't understand, Nile, I have urgent news. i must make my report..."
The other guard, Cormick, shook his head and pressed a hand to Olofson's chest, "Listen, you still can't go in. If you disturb the-" he paused, quieted and continued with, "if you disturb him he will have our necks for dinner..."
"Then turkey necks he will have but I have to get to him, right now..."
Just then, before the guards could retort, the hall doors opened. Nile cursed under his breath but it was only Sir Lauren. He pulled the door behind himself and rested his hand against the lion-shaped pommel of his broad sword and asked, "What is the reason for this disturbance. I hear raised voices outside of the dining hall while the king is being served his meal and I can only think that someone must be going crazy..."
Olofson would not be deterred. He had no time to fear a knight. "Sir Lauren, I must deliver a report to the king..."
"I can not permit that. Leave the message with me and I will deliver it when he has finished his meal..."
"I cannot do that, Sir Lauren. I am only to relay the message to him..."
Lauren squinted. Was this the news that the king had been waiting for? The scout's face was caked in dirt and blood, he was still breathing deeply as if he'd run a great distance and his palms were sweaty as if he would deliver the most important message of his life. Lauren simply said, "Who sent you on your mission...?"
Olofson simply said, "A Specter...."
Lauren stepped aside without another word and pushed the door open to allow Olofson in. The young val entered the hall and had little time to marvel at the marble pillars, golden adornments and the tallest, most beautiful drapes he'd ever seen. The king was already barking at him, asking who he was and why he was interrupting his meal. Olofson ignored the rantings, as he'd been told to do. Olofson slid to a knee next to the king and lowered his head. "Sire, I've returned the news of the Halimar Seal..."
Leogoryth's face twitched and the turkey hanging from his lip fell to his plate. "What of it, boy, speak!?" the king balked as he looked toward the young val.
"The El'Dren are crowding around the Seal, making camps..."
"Are they opening the Seal!?"
"Sire, i can-"
"Boy, i don't need your bantering! Are they opening the Seal?!" the king yelled.
Olofson shook his head and rambled off, "N-no, Sire, I don't thi-"
"You don't think...?"
"No, no, your highness, they were not op-"
Olofson's words were cut short when the king jabbed a large, jagged knife into the val's neck. "That is not what I needed of you, boy..." the king snarled. He allowed the boy to fall, the knife still in his neck. The king got to his feet and barked, "Lauren...!"
When the knight entered he instantly set his eyes on the scout, dying on the floor. The king at least could have finished the kill instead of allowing the boy to bleed to death. "Yes, your highness?"
"Have Balthomeer and Derophen come to me. Ready Sir Tedrin and Sir Barter. We move for the Halimar Pass in the morn..."
"May I ask why, Sire?"
"Of course you may," Leogoryth said, an ugly smile spreading across his face, stretching folds and wrinkles. His eyes peered from beneath an ugly, menacing brow and he said, "The El'Dren are opening the Seal...."

Innate Element:
Affinity:
Class:
Main Weapon:
Secondary Weapon:
Air Burst: (Airing or Grounding)
Special Skill: (Create something interesting but even if you create detailed strikes for the skill, be flexible.)
Allegiance: This is mainly viewed from a Forestfolk (El'Dren, Drazyll and Puntimpas) or Engineers (Val, Drag'Konin and Inple) standpoint. You may put what you please but in most cases the allegiance would be to one's own kind because "Myself" would suggest that you have no reason to travel with a group. And that's what this game consists of.
Personal Flaws:

Fire-Water-Flora-Ice-Earth-Wind-Fire

The Elements have their weaknesses and strengths:
Fire absorbs air as fuel but is doused by Water.
The Wind weathers Earth but is absorbs by Flames.
Masses of Earth can be chipped away by the Wind but can stop Ice.
Ice can freeze Flora, weighing down vines but is not match for expertly controlled slabs of earth.
Flora can absorb water but comes to a standstill against ice.

(Some of the other elemental weaknesses are Flora being set ablaze by Fire and water being stopped cold by Ice. These should be considered when deciding on your elements.)

Affinity: (This is your secondary element. If a player uses an ability with this element you can capitalize [But only if the post is damned good.] Remember that when you choose this element it is the only one that you will be able to match your own element with. Your affinity cannot be the opposing element of your Innate Element.)

Fire-Ice: (Flames can melt ice to create steam which can melt flesh.)
Wind-Water: (The wind can be used to generate the forces of a hurricane, deluging enemies.)
Earth-Flora: (A towering wall of earth can be much worse when vines spear through a petrified enemy.
Fire-Earth: (A Molten Eruption would destroy most enemies)
Earth-Water: (How about a terrifying landslide?)
Wind-Ice: (A blizzard brought down upon your foes.)

Class:
(These are based on common sense; and your equipment should match!)

Knight: Knights will wear full sized armor and will take hits like no one’s business. Remember that you character will not be able to play with intense speed but your power may be unmatched. Your weapons may be larger swords, battle axes, hammers, etc. Secondary may be a smaller sword or throwing axe.

Archer: Archers tend to wear garbs with low defensive capabilities but you will be very fast and if you want an acrobatic character then feel free. Yours weapons will be bows. Secondary may be daggers, short swords and other small weapons including but not limited to; Sais, hand guns with one round per post and other close quarter weapons.

Rogue: Rogues favor lightweight armor beneath cloaks and the like. This is a very agile character that utilizes one handed swords, maces, axes and may dual wield daggers. Crossbows may be used but the secondary may not be a one handed weapon listed beforehand.
Secondary weapons may be daggers (If dual wielding, daggers may not be a secondary), hand guns with one round per post, and other close quarter weapons including axes and Sais.

Spearman: Spearmen wear mid-weight armor and are of medium speed. They fight with halberds, pole axes, glaives, etc. Secondary weapons are one handed swords.

Light Swordsman: Light swordsmen armor themselves much like rogues but specialize in swordsmanship and use single-handed swords and their secondary weapons tend to be short swords and daggers. The rapier or estoc is a perfect weapon for a LS class warrior.

Kindler: Kindlers are very specific classes and their elements are exact. They will not strike physical blows but their magical abilities tend to be unmatched as they master their abilities. They will use their hands to strike down their foes and instead of relying on enchanting their weapons with elements, they create them out of places where there should be done (as in creating fire out of thin air or water spewing forth from rocks). They are not defenders. Do not let them get hit…!

Fighter: Fighters are brutes. They are fast, hit hard and defend with their armored forearms but they are not good with elements, even their innate elements. They fight with their fists and wear plated gloves. They don’t have secondary weapons. They wear enchanted boots that allow them to harness energy. (These boots allow them to match their innate powers with their affinity.)

Mechanized Archer: Mechanized Archers are moderately armored archers that use firearms as their main weapons. Their rifles are fitted with elemental seals that allow them to fire rounds of their elements. A wielder of flames would fire incendiary rounds, a wielder of ice would fire freezing rounds, flora wielders would fire shotgun-like blast of razor-edged leaves as if shrapnel. Earth rounds can pin enemies against objects and Water rounds can apply hundreds upon hundreds of pounds of pressure and finally, wind rounds blast enemies with electrifying rounds. Remember, Earth wielders can only use grounding and Wind wielders can only use airing. Wielders of other elements can use either air burst ability.

If you play as an Inple, you must remember that you are between 13 and 15 feet tall as an adult and you may fight with weapons specific to Inples which are trees, massive swords, axes and clubs but these powerful beings are very slow. For your class, you may list it as Inple and choose an according weapon or you may choose Fighter and use brute strength. If you choose Kindler then your element must be Earth. Inples don’t carry secondary weapons.

Punyimpas are the size of a pigeon when adults and wear enchanted armor made of earth or leaves and are only classed as Kindlers and even more so, as savants. (If you are brave enough to play with this tiny character then by all means, do so. I will respect you dearly for it.) They may kindle any element. Do not carry weapons as Punyimpas.

Drazyll are sentient trees and can only have Flora as their Innate. They don’t wield weapons and are simply classed as Drazyll. They are Savants.

Don’t be afraid to push the envelope. If you have a cool idea for a weapon or character, express that idea. If it’s worth it, then I’ll accept your character.

Race:
Val: Live 70 years on average but should only fight until their mid-fifties. Average height is 6 ft. 2 in. and can have any non-specific class.

El’Dren: Live 200 years on average but should only fight until they reach 180. From there, they begin to asche [Which is a process where they grow old and turn into ash, returning to nature.] Average height is 5 ft. 6 in. They can have any non-specific class.

Grantz: Subterranean dwellers and they live for about 50 years on average. They reach adult hood at 15 and can fight until they are about 41. They are very small but cunning and cannot be knights or spearmen. Average height is 5 ft. 2 in. and they are thin-bodied people. They live 100 years on average but fight until they are that old. They are very hearty.

Inple: The Inple Live for close to 300 years and their adulthood and elder portions are exceptionally long. They would fight between 40 and 260 years. They tower above at 13 to 15 feet and their classes are either Inple (swords and tree trunks) or Kindler (Using Earth as an Innate) or Fighter.

Punyimpa: Very small creatures. Some say that they can live forever… They are cocooned until adulthood so do what the hell you want with them. They are about a foot tall at most with four bird-like wings. They are only Kindlers. As a secondary list them as Savants. As long as the attack used before them is not their opposing element you should be able to capitalize. Just be creative.

Drazyll: Drazyll live for nearly 2000 years, just as some trees do. They are the proper size to fight at about 60 years so age them beyond that as you see fit. They weigh in at 11 to 14 feet and can only be Flora Innate but are savants. They should weight more than 1000 pounds.

Drag’Konin: The Drag’Konin or “Drag” are a reptilian race and are descendants of Dragons. They have two large wings and their average height is 6 ft. 7 in. They live for about 70 years on average but fight until they are 50. They cannot be rogues or Kindlers (As they are disconnected with nature).

Mechanics:
There are two things that you’ll need to know when playing Regalis. You have two mechanics built in that you’ll need to utilize in order to defeat larger enemies. Remember that your enemies will have weaknesses and some of them will be too powerful to take down without aiming for those weaknesses. One gargoyle may fold its wings in front of itself to deflect all damage and you will need to get it to open its wings. A Wyrm may tunnel into the earth after attacking and a certain combination of elements will be needed in order to defeat the monstrosity.

Air Burst: This is an ability characters will use to create statuses for enemies. Some Bosses will need to be “broken” for elements to take effect and this is the way to create a “Broken” status.

An airing ability will be used to create a “floating” status for enemies which will lock them in the air for a varying number of posts. You will not know how many posts the enemy will stay floating until it has happened the first time and you can count. If you keep the enemy in the air for too long then it will recuperate and the effects of the status will be gone.

A grounding ability will be used to smash the enemy into the ground from floating status. When an enemy slams into the earth it will enter the “Broken” status as well and elements can take effect. Now, the enemy is “Broken” and “grounded”, and it is just about over for the creature. If a character “slips up” and uses an airing attack on a grounded enemy then the enemy will recuperate and decimate that player for being a moron.

Don’t let an enemy stay in the floating status for an extended period of time. Don’t attack a grounded enemy with an airing attack.

Elemental Combat: It is self-explanatory. If Gus hits a Raving Graarghorn with his special skill and his element is fire then the creature will be set on fire. Now, Asshrarn, whose affinity is fire, can hit the monster with an earth special skill and create a molten burst or molten eruption, whatever Asshrarn’s controller decides to call it. If Graarghorn’s bestiary says that his weakness is fire then it would have been hurt badly by Gus’ attack. If its weakness was fire/earth then Gus and Asshrarn just pulled off a ridiculously powerful combo against the beast and as long as the posts were good, the monster is going down. It’s that simple.
Savants can do this with any element as long as it is not the opposite of what they kindle.

In the essence of being creative, as you battle creatures and if your posts are good, during a review of your prowess in combat, you will be given the ability to add a Special Skill. Your second Special Skill will be more powerful but I expect to see it used a lot less. I don’t want Special Skills used on each post anyway. Your third Special Skill will be an Affinity Cross. It will allow you to change up battles on the fly and use your affinity as an innate. These are very very very weak skills as you are just learning to use an element that your body should not be able to. If a player does not capitalize on your Affinity Cross then you are going to SUFFER!

One last thing: When you create a character and I've accepted it, I will send you a PM, letting you know which arc of the story you will be playing in and where (under the "places" tab) that particular arc will begin. Your character will be introduced by name only and usually called by a military member or something to that effect so that you don't appear from the ether.
If you would like a sub-plot or arc created in a particular area or if you would like to be the leading character in a side quest PM me and I'll see what we can do.

Toggle Rules

1. This is an action Role Play. There will be a lot of combat here. Your progress in combat will be based on how creative and effective you are with your own skills that you’ve given yourself! If you can’t write combat scenes then you may not want to play here.

2. This is not a high school role play. There is no need to go after the first female character you see and try to hump her leg. That is not what we’re about. Have some fun but have some respect.

3. If you must romance then please make sure it is okay with the person you’re trying to doggie hump. It’s as simple as a PM. Don’t make someone feel uncomfortable because you think their anime picture they used for their character is hot. That may very well be a guy playing that character for all you know. He could be forty...in a basement…breathing very deeply even though he’s just eating Cheeto’s and watching the M.A.S.H. movie… Aside from that, follow the site guidelines and please develop your love story. If we have to watch you write out How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days then at least entertain us.

4. Once again, we don’t want to see a bunch of people trying to hump each other. I am serious.

5. There will be lots of traveling and battling as we travel so be ready for a fight to be sprung upon you at any time.

6. CHACTERS WILL DIE! I am sick of joining games where every player is too pretentious and stuck-up to let their precious cyber creation die in a blaze of glory. I will let you write your own death if it comes to it. You can prevent it by writing well. And don’t fret. You can replace a character at any time.

7.You can write yourself into the game after I’ve accepted your character at a city. If not, I will let you know where and when you can come in so that you don’t appear mysteriously from the ether attempting to be cool and save a fallen character because you’ve been following the group for three days…

8. If you need to reply to a question and you don’t want to bore us with purple prose about your feelings about each word that you spoke, then write just that reply. I’m fine with that. But if you’re aiding in moving the story along then it should be a minimum of 150 words. But 2000 word stories are unnecessary and will prove more cumbersome than cool.

9. Please, be nice. Don’t pick fights with players. This is not one-on-one combat hour with Jackie Chan. You’ll be fighting as a team against larger enemies. Just think Star Ocean bosses… http://youtu.be/nkvrRid8Zyg

10. You’ll be fighting a lot of Game Master controlled enemies, usually hordes of zombified creatures or you will need to work with a party member or two to take down something the size of an elephant. As we play, I will try to find pictures to help you understand the size of a creature. Look to the bestiary if you need to know what you’re fighting.

11. One thing to note is that the storyline will follow a path, where a story is actually told. That is, instead of a game where these is a lack of Game Master control and a bunch of people are running around telling their own haphazard stories with no purpose or they’re here to kill the first guy that walks in the door. With that being said, please don’t stray off topic too often. Watch the tale unfold, because it’s a good one. Immerse yourself in the game, have some fun, kill giant six legged, four tusked pachyderms and maybe we’ll get through this.

12. A suggestion: Don't allow your character to break fourth wall parameters. If there is something that your character cannot possibly know about another character or place, then make sure that they do not know it when they're in-game. Please, create your posts as if you are your character or as if you were writing a novel. If you don't know what that means then you may not need to play here but I hope this has explained enough of this rule.

Now, for some combat specific rules-

1. We will not kill you arbitrarily but you will be placed in positions where your character’s life will be threatened. You will need to write yourself out of it.

2. Do not auto hit. There will be someone here in time that will be able to decide if you’ve landed a hit or not. Your hits will land if you are creative, if you use the skills we’ve let you create for yourself and if you don’t replicate your own posts again and again.

3. ‘Autrion punches at the creature’ is not good posting. Good, detailed accounts of combat are what we’re here for. If you’re playing here, I hope it is because you are sick of high school and zombie role plays where no one ever sees combat writing. You will be tested here. So bring it.

4. Fight scenes need detail, that is true, but we don’t need to know that a leaf was cut in half by your weapon because you can strike so expertly and blah blah blah. You don’t need to be Stephen King to write a good fight sequence.

5. Creative, creative, creative! All that you do in combat will be based on your creativity. Do you live or die? Does your sword slash hit or miss? It depends on you. But remain within the strictures of your character. If you’re in a suit of armor, you shouldn’t be flipping around like an elf in leaf armor and if you’re a little guy that should be using a wand, don’t try to toss around a seven foot long scramasax. You’re not Cloud, this is not Final Fantasy. Just remember that if your 125 pound emo kid is lugging around a 20 pound weapon he’s not hitting anything but wind.

6. Don’t spring random super badass anime Ichigo samurai ninja assassin attacks as you see fit. You should be able to integrate Special Skills into combat as you battle. That means; don’t use your special skill every post either. It will get old, we won’t want to envision you using it and you won’t get another special skill. As you post, we will decide when you’ve got enough “experience” to obtain a new skill slot. You’ll be free to create one as you see fit.

7. If the player before you sets a creature on fire, don’t hit it with a water based attack. That’s not okay. Read what your teammates are doing, aid them, capitalize on their successes and watch your enemy position…

Please be patient as the world grows day-by-day. As it does, links will be added below so that you can go straight to the thread you need to read in order to learn what you need.

Anya was surprised to see a Val riding upon a Drazyll but her eyes did not deceive her. Tedrin would not turn from Junpei so Anya kept her arrow trained on the val. she could only imagine what was going through the mind of the Drazyll and the val that had intersected such a strange situation. The val leaped from the Drazyll's crest, landed in a crouch and drew his blade. He released wind energy, pushing dust away from himself. Anya could feel it. He was twice as powerful as she was. Maybe much more than that. He was more powerful than Tedrin. But Tedrin was mad. Anya recognized the val. She let out a gasp-like smirk and took a confused step forward. "Nez..." she said, "Captain...Nez Ironside..."
"Don't call me that," the man said, a cross tone striking Anya deep.
"W-what are you doing? You really are a traitor...aren't you?"
Tedrin took a step away from Junpei and said, "We will finish this later..." He warily began to turn, though about it half way and finally turned to face Nez.
"Tedrin..." Nez said with a scowl. "I see you're still rubbing people the wrong way..."
"And I see that you're still a traitor..."
"Did you kill the Punyimpas and the El'Dren in this forest...?"
"Straight to the task at hand, I see, Nez? But what of your task to serve your king?"
"A blind man with dreary ambitions of destruction means little to me. Leogoryth is a twisted man driven insane by power, greed and hatred for a race that he never tried to understand. Our ancestors trusted them for some reason!"
Anya was flustered. How could such a simple meeting have turned into an argument so fast? These men must have had past issues left unsettled.
Anya leveled her arrow of the face of Nez as he said, "Why are you here?"
"I'm going to destroy the demon that killed both forces of this would-be war..." Tedrin said, "Step aside, Ironside, and be about your own business..."
"You're in Halimar now, Tedrin. Your words mean less than the shit on the hoof of a pig out for the slaughter."
"All I want is to pass, ironside... Move..."
Nez pulled back a little but his brow furled-half in anger, half in confusion. "Drytzz, what of this...?"
"The trees....say that Havana has...come to them... It was because of these people..."
"Havana never talks to the Val. She won't even come out in front of me..."
Tedrin smirked and said, "Are you satisfied, Ironside?"
"Drytzz...?" Nez said again and the old Drazyll took a long, deep breath and closed her eyes. Nez took a precautionary step back and stared into Nez's eyes. "What do they say...?"
"They will not talk... This man harbors murderous intent. They are terrified..."
Then, Tedrin said something that blew Anya away. He said, "Anya, shoot him..."
Anya didn't know what to do. Why would Tedrin ask her to do this when Nez hadn't done anything? She didn't do anything. "Shoot me and I kill him..." Nez mumbled.
"Shoot him, Anya, now!"
Junpei yelled, "Don't shoot him, Anya!"
"Shoot him, Anya...." Tedrin yelled.
"You don't have to do this, Anya...." Nez said lightly, calmly.
"I-I can't... No-n-no, I can't do it, Tedrin..."
"Anya, shoot Nez!" Tedrin yelled.
Junpei looked to Anya but but his blade trained on Tedrin, "Anya, baby, calm down. Down fire on this innocent man!"
"Tedrin, I don't know what to-"
"SHOOT NEZ!" Tedrin yelled, cutting Anya off.
Junpei was yelling, Tedrin was yelling, Nez was trying to keep Anya calm but she was starting to cry. She closed her eyes and screamed as she looked away, yanked the bow off to the left and released the arrow into the trees. There was a clash of swords and a sharp yell. Anya kept her eyes closed. She didn't want to look. She kept her eyes closed, tight...tighter than she ever had. She was still crying she she dropped the ow, shivering. Her entire face twitched before she opened her eyes and saw the worst thing that she could have. "T-Tedrin...?" she said as she began to walk toward the man. Her shivering steps caused her to waiver as her vision blurred. Junpei and Nez both withdrew their blades from Tedrin's abdomen and he fell to his knees. Anya went to him, dropped to her knees, rested against him, cradling him. He would say nothing, he was dead. She just cried. She'd done too much crying.

Oleris must have been one of the few that understood Tedrin. His blind faith in his own kind, his allegiance to his king and the passion forged behind that led him to his path with little thought. After seeing the carnage it caused, he became enraged, fueled by anger. What it must have felt like to hold all of that in, even as ten thousand men marched on the Halimar Depths. But there was no way that Tedrin would know that a demon would attach so many strings to a myriad of puppets and draw them into a routine of death. This was true, but his transgressions could not be forgiven. The man named Nez seemed to be a powerful man and Junpei had already turned his blade on Tedrin. This was getting out of hand, fast. As the day grew longer, the situation grew worse. Where would they be when they were so far that there was no way back. He was cold, hungry, angry and the entrance of this Nez and the Drazyll called Dryttz, things were just becoming more cluttered. Tedrin was yelling, Junpei was yelling, Nez was trying to calm Anya down but it just wouldn't gather any success. Then she screamed, loosed her arrow and Junpei and Nez did something that he had not expected: they killed Tedrin. Nez had threatened to do so. Junpei was steadfast in his belief that Tedrin needed to die.
But this was a man that fought for his country. If none had fallen in the valley or in the forest, no one would have been aware of what he and his fellow knighthood had done. When the body fell and Anya went to it, Oleris drew his sword. He was angry with himself that he'd been too confused to do anything before the man was killed. He took a few steps toward the body, got between Anya and Nez; and Junpei and said, "If you take a step toward either of them I will kill you...."

Sleza watched as the whole the came crashing down like comets. Her eyes were wide and she didn't really understand what was happening and why. A Drazyll and another Val had come up, gotten into an argument with Tedrin and then... He was dead. Anya had, of course, taken the largest blow. They had all been yelling at her to do something, but she had ended up cracking under the pressure. Sleza looked at the body of their former commander and shook her head. She still could feel nothing. She looked to the Drazyll and the Val called Nez, then to Junepei. Her eyes went to Oleris as he became upset. She shook her head again and flew to the Drazyll called Dryttz and looked at her. Perhaps, this was the side she was made for. She looked at Oleris, Anya, and lastly Junepei, before sighing softly and taking her place beside Dryttz. So this made her a traitor too, right? But she was nothing but a lowly mercenary... How could anyone call her a traitor? She looked to the group one more time, feeling a small tear fall from her cheek. Finall, she had manged to care, and it had to be right now. She wiped it away and kept her eyes on Junepei.

Ogava had taken it upon himself to scout ahead...Though he realized he just made a big target in the forest... At least when steel started clashing the party would know there was an enemy. He had not gotten far when he heard shouting. He turned back to go help as fast as possible, which was not made easy in plate armour, with vines sticking out every where in the ground. He wished he could fly but the trees were much to close together for any more than a short hop. He was getting closer, but the shouting grew louder, and more urgent. As he rounded a large tree he saw Nez, and Junpei stab Tedrin. Anger swelled up inside Ogava... No one killed his commander, without punishment. Justice would be served, and it would be served now. Oleris stepped in to keep the peace between the three standing there, but Ogava would have none of it. He started running at Nez, then jumped high helped by his powerful wings. Ogava let out a roar loud enough to impress Brygaad himself, as he honed his earth innate, and threw loose dirt at the man to blind him. This was considered dishonourable, but Nez had no honour himself. Folding his wings back Ogava slammed full force into Nez with his shield, then attempted to land a killing blow with his sword.

Balthazar sided with Tedrin from the very minute he'd signed on with the man, so long ago. Balthazar thought he had understood the man; but it'd been proven false. However, that did not mean Tedrin wasn't who Balthazar thought he was. The Knight had kept quiet, he knew his place; but that hadn't lasted for long. Eventually the party was turning on itself, and his mind dwelled on rage for a time before he suddenly realized that this was not they were meant for.
When Tedrin had stormed off into the woods originally, Balthazar only wavered for a moment before trudging off after him. He did not look back at the men behind him. He knew the other Drag'Konin Ogava would be behind him. If anything, the blood flowing through their veins made them understand Tedrin's fury at Death. Being so far disconnected from nature, many would think that Drag'Konin were numb to the world - especially in the way they consumed another race of sentient beings like candy. Perhaps it was the natural order of things... But with what the group had seen today, Nature had abandoned them long ago.
The forest spectre that appeared before Tedrin wasn't nearly as opague as it was to Balthazar, and its voice was but a whisper. Yet from the beginning he could feel darkness from the creature, and yet a darkness far more pure than the evils that had committed the atrocities they'd stumbled upon.

When Tedrin had turned on Anya and began to cut into her so abruptly, Balthazar had been tempted to intervene. If not with diplomacy, his armored form would allow enough of a barrier between the two. But that chance rapidly slipped away, as the situation became more and more out of control...
Balthazar was familiar with Nez; and when the man came into view he had an immediate sense of contempt flood over him. He wanted nothing more than to lift his ax and cleave the man's head at the shoulders, but the Drazyll looked to be formidable - and wise. He stayed his hand, but he rapidly became more and more tense. He knew that soon this would reach it's apex; and he had hoped it would not come to bloodshed.

But before Balthazar could do much more than blink, Tedrin had been slain by Junpei and Nez's blades. At this the Drag'Konin waited no longer, letting out a rage fueled roar that would parallel the creatures he was descended from.
"Pyres of Brygaad fuel my rage!" He roared, stepping up from his position at the sidelines, placing himself with Oleris and lifting his ax and shield. His eyes burned with a fury buried deep in his soul; brought on by the terrible sight that day and the death of a Val he truly believed noble. Balthazar's allegience was to what was noble; and sometimes being noble meant good people had to die. Sometimes nobility wasn't that far from doing what morality considered less tham admirable. And this, Balthazar would stand for; fight for what Tedrin had only been trying to convey. If it mean't a king had to die, so be it. No force in the world would protect Leogoryth from Balthazar's fury. Pounding his ax against his shield, the metals clanged together with power, and the Drag's wings unfolded from his back and a thick icey coating covered his armor and shield as the Heart of Balthazar pounded audibly within his chest. He even managed to smash his legs into the ground, shaking the earth with his anger. And ice formed from the air; freezing the ground around Balthazar solid, and where the forest moisture came close to him it condensed and solidified, turning into snow; snow that looked as if it might be ash as well.
No more would the Drag'Konins stand on the sideline.
"I WILL TEAR THIS WORLD ASUNDER!"
Balthazar roared at anyone who dared stand against him; ready to kill anyone that made a move.

The other Drag'Konin, Ogava, wasted no time in attacking Nez; and at this Balthazar shifted his position to face Junpei, before he folded his wings to his back and shield charging headlong at him, stone ax high above his head, ice forming where his footfalls landed.

The normally level-headed and mannered Drag'Konin Knights were consumed by rage and bloodlust; the two Drag'Konin beings being fueled by each other's rage as Kin with each other, and with Tedrin as well. An icy blue aura danced around Balthazar; and yet the fires of his ancestors that were present in Ogava, although dilluded, seemed to find their way through Balthazar as well.
At that moment Balthazar believed that he would tear open the very fabric of the Aether to destroy his enemies, if only to defend his belief in Tedrin, and would tear the world itself to stand with Ogava against the men who had killed his friend, in the moments he gained speed in his charge toward Junpei.

Nez took the full force of Ogava's attack, pushing his free hand out in front of himself, creating a wall of wind energy. The killing blow cam quick but he parried the attack and the blade sank deep into his right shoulder. He yelled, releasing a blast of wind that would drive the Drag'Konin back. Anya was on her feet now, as she'd been guarded from Junpei by Oleris and she drew an arrow back. There was no way that she could attack Nez; their elements were the same and he was much too powerful for her to face. Instead, she loosed it over his shoulder, aiming for Dryttz but Nez raised his empty hand, released an eddy of wing energy and not only was the arrow taken from the sky but the eddy slammed into Anya and pushed her back into the Inple.

(Puppeting Junpei)

Junpei was blindsided by Balthazar. He guarded himself the best that he could but he could not avoid the icy strike. His arm was encased in ice as he was thrown to the ground. Nez, Junpei, Dryttz and now, Sleza, were outmatched. Nez raised his sword to attack Ogava but the wispy forest spirit slithered between the two of them. Nez didn't care. He moved to attack the being but it fizzled away and reappeared from behind him, its spectral tail wrapped around his midsection, its gnarly fingers around his throat. "Theeeeerrreee iiiisss mooooree heeeerrreee thaaaan yooooourrr peeeetttyyyy grieeeeee-vaaanncc-eeeesssss..."
Anya drew an arrow back and trained it on Nez, "Move, spirit and I will do away with this one now!"
"I wiiiiiiiill.....nooooot, giiiirrrllll..."
Junpei managed to crack the ice away from his arm and he grabbed the freezing appendage as he got to his feet. He was shivering and angry. The Drag'Konin was ready to smite him down at any moment. Anya looked to Nez with condemning eyes and said, "Forest Spirit...why do you spin is so?"
"I sppiiiiiinnn nooo-oooone, giiiiiirrlll... I doooo...whaaaaat neeeeds to beeee...doooooone..."
Nez asked, "Will you let go of my throat...?"
"Yooooou caaaannn breeeeeaaaathhh, vaaaaaal, aaand theeeereeee is noooothiiiing for youuuuuu....toooo saaaay..."
Anya lowered her arrow and yelled, "Why, Nez?"
The spirit loosened its grip and Nez said, "Because that man was ludicrous. He would have gotten you all killed in his crazed conquest. I know what he came here for! There was no plan for the El'Dren to released the Seal!"
"We were going to destroy the demon that has killed so many! We care little for the seal! He's already told us of Leogoryth treachery. You've killed a man for no reason!"
Nez's face twitched as he lowered his blade. "What...?"
"We know of the lies," Anya said, "we were working through it..."
Nez shook his head, "Why would your own man aid me in killing Tedrin...?"
Junpei, still cradling his arm said, "Because i cannot allow for evil me like him to exist. He is driving this world into hell!"
The spirit looked to Junpei sand said, "Yooooou aaarree misstaaaaakeeennn... A maaaaan thaaaat leeeaarrrnns heee is wrrroooonnngg...and mooooovesss toooo atoooonnnee....iiiiis noooo mooooorrrreee eviiiillll thaaaaan...yooooou....oooor IIIIIII..."
Junpei lowered his head as Anya said, "So...what now? You have killed Tedrin....I would be damned to a place far worse than hell to ever trust Junpei again...."
Nez looked about and said, "We have been deceived then... All of us..."
"Why do you say that...?" Junpei asked.
"Because as Leogoryth told the knighthood that we were opening the Seal....we were led to believe that you were not coming here to stop us from opening it...but that you, yourselves were coming to do so..."

Balthazar stopped himself from finishing off Junpei as he caught the spirit intervening in Nez's demise. Despite Anya's ordering the spirit to move, it would not; and at this Balthazar halted completely, looking over his shoulder as he towered over the exposed Junpei. He kept his guard up; ready to strike down the man at any moment. But the Spirit's words were true. Balthazar stepped back now, keeping his shield prepared despite himself. The rage flooding through his mind began to fade, and reason once more became his judging factor.

The Knight knew treachery when he saw it; and Tedrin had seen it all before any of them. It was just an unfortunate circumstances of should-be allies being turned upon each other, manipulated, goaded and used as puppets...
"This is what was supposed to happen," the Knight said in his bass voice, looking at the beings around him. "We have been manipulated into turning on each other; Engineer and Forestfolk, simply because it was known that we would fight without question." Balthazar's hatred for the blood feuds of race had proved true, then; and The Decievers had capitalized upon it.
"Then all of this is for nothing. We teeter on the brink of self destruction..."

The Drag'Konin Knight moved to kneel by Tedrin's body, a gauntleted hand reached out to cross his companion's arms across his chest.
"...And too many good lives have been destroyed by deception. Lives of both Engineers and Forestfolk."
Balthazar returned to his feet, looking to each of those amongst them; his eyes holding sadness within them. He looked to the spirit then, a resolute and defiant look suddenly replacing it.
"I will continue to stand for what Tedrin sought to do, even if I do so alone. I will kill this Demon; and then take my revenge on Leogoryth, not only for the death of Tedrin but for the death of all peoples who have died being decieved. I will make him pay," Balthazar clenched his fist and brought it to his chest, "for the suffering of Engineers and Forestfolk alike."

Ogava was pleased with the fresh blood on his sword, the dragon blood in his veins pulsed for more. "You killed my commander!" He said pointing the bloody tip at Nez. "I will kill you or die in the attempt. Stand aside spirit!" The spirit refused. "Nez... we will fight. In the name of Brygaad, I will see justice served." Ogava stepped back from the spirit, as he knew there was nothing he could do for the moment. He stood next to Balthazar, he knew he could trust a fellow follower of Brygaad. He stood with his shield up creating a small shield wall with the other Drag'konin.

Anya was confused but she raised arrow to train on Nez again. "Balthazar, Ogava, Oleris, stand down." she said as she walked forward, her arrow draw tightly back. "What do you mean? How could you have believed that we would come to open the Seal...?"
"Because Leogoryth's mind rots damn near out of his very skull," Nez said. "There is no telling what the crazed man will do... The forestfolk have guarded the Seal ever since its inception and to suggest that they would open it to release the evil that once plagued them is just plain lunacy. No one has questioned the motives of the king and men that knew he'd lied came after the El'Dren regardless. It is the breeding of weakness, Anya, and you know this!"
"The El'Dren hate the Val, just the same," Anya said, "Men would pray for a reason to go to war with their enemies and they were given one. Yes, it can be held against them but all men cannot be held accountable for the actions of a select few. I cannot step froward to take their place, as they are all surely dead. But for one to think that we would remove the Seal is just plain wrong..."
"That is not far from the truth..." Nez said. He was not ready to lower his guard, as their were still plenty of weapons trained on him. His shoulder was screaming at him, it needed treatment or a least a quick lancing to seal the wound. Blood was running down his arm, dripping to the earth. This needed to end. He finally said, "I call a truce...for now. We need to figure things out and I doubt you will take the Punyimpa with you and that man, Junpei...needs to come with us at this point..."
"you're right..." Anya said, "I think we all need to figure out what we're doing. I will take Tedrin's place on this side. You can have Junpei and you and I will discuss the best course of action for both of these impromptu groups. i will hear your side, but I must hear of Ogava, Oleris and Balthazar's wishes and decide for us accordingly. We will still go after the demon that Tedrin so adamantly wanted to find..."
Nez nodded and lowered his blade, finally, and stood erect. He released a long breath and the spirit finally released him. It moved to Anya, swirled around her, as if caressing her. It took was seemed to be a long sniff of her and let out a sigh. "Yoooooouu caaaan dooo itttt...." With that, she was gone and both groups would make to come to a conclusion. Anya would hear the side of her group and Nez would do the same. Anya turned back, trained her arrow on Junpei and whispered, "You should go before I can no longer stop Balthazar and Ogava from killing you. I can't say your body would not fall without one of my arrows in its throat...."

Junpei felt as if he had been watching someone else kill Tedrin, but he came to the realization that it was his blade that he was sliding out of the dead commander. The others had attacked him and turned their blades on him. He did not fight back for it was pointless. He had let his anger consume him and he had slain a man just as misled as he was. He watched as everyone turned their backs on him. Junpei locked eyes with Anya. "Do you honestly think you can fire that arrow in me?" He dared, his eyes burned with a passion for revenge. He would repent by slaying the demon. He turned his back to the group. "I will go then, but I will return with the head of the demon that took so many lives." He balled his left hand into a fist and placed it at his side and threw his right hand up pointing at the sky. "He cannot allow injustice and evil to run rampant in this world, it is his blade that will be there to slay those who strike at the weak and innocent, he takes the fury of those suffering and places it in his attacks. When those who walk the path of darkness hear his name they tremble for they know that he will not falter in his determination. Who the hell do you think I am!?" He gave his speech, he returned to his normal stance and looked back at the others. "Junpei defender of the light. If there's a wall in my way then I smash it! If there is no path then I make one!" He told them as he headed for the bogs waving at them without facing them.

"Wh-What? Wait! I'm coming too! You're going to get yourself killed too!" Sleza yelled as she saw Junepei leaving. She flew after the man with a feeling of depression. Everything had been falling apart, and she knew nothing of how. She didn't understand what the Seal was, she didn't even know there was a king... She had missed so much, but how? How could she miss everything so easily. It was as if she should know, so why didn't she? She had been there after all. She was older than most of the warriors on this team. So why was it that nothing would come to mind about these things? Why was it she knew less than anyone else. She sighed and shook her head before flying over to Junepei's side. She nodded at him a little.

"No..." Anya said, "you're not going alone! If this was Tedrin's mission in his heart then that is the mission that I will take upon myself. You will not go by yourself..."
Nez looked from Dryytz and said, "Junpei, don't be hasty... And you, Anya, if you're taking the Drag'Konins with you then I'll be damned to hell if you go without an escort for Junpei. If I have anything to say about it...those Drag will not touch him..."
"No...we're not doing this, Nez," Anya yelled and said, "I know what you're suggesting! We are not going together! And you, Junpei, stop before you go and get yourself killed! Don't be such an idiot. you don't know what we're facing here. Why go if you don't know your enemy at all? It would be better for a larger force to go to defeat the enemy. if it can turn thousands of men into puppets at once then it must be powerful..."
Nez shook his head and said, "All the more reason for us to go at it together...!"
"Right, Nez, when we all tried to kill each other! It's a wonderful idea! I hope you're keying in on my sarcasm!" Anya barked.
"you don't understand what I'm saying..."
"I understand all too well what you're saying, Nez. I would love to have a battle of wits with you but I don't feel too keen on battling an unarmed Val! We need to separate..."
"We don't!" Nez yelled, "be it as it may that we were halted in our actions by the Forest Spirit but if we stick together we may be able to conquer this foe. If it is important enough for the Forest Spirit to show herself to us then we need to band together. i can't imagine that you would be so unwilling to control yourself that you can't travel with us, Anya!"
Anya reluctantly held her tongue. Nez was right and she was being stubborn. "We were supposed to have time to speak with our suggestive forces, Nez..."
"And Junpei has spoken...the Punyimpa has spoken and I would be led to believe that the Drag'Konins' thirst for battle would lead them to this enemy anyway... If this enemy has killed all of the El'Dren and Punyimpas in this forest then this enemy is mine and Dryttz's just the same as it is yours..."
"Fuck..." Anya said and turned away from Nez. "Fine... we will go," Anya said as she turned back toward Nez. But Junpei goes with you once we are done. We part ways and that is that. I refuse to kill one another after our trial is done..."
Nez nodded. It was decided. Now, the matter at hand was the demon's Champion at the edge of the Wilds...

Junpei smirked as Sleza landed on his shoulder. "Couldn't resist tagging along huh? It's gonna be dangerous." He told her. He knew that would not sway her but still he figured he would tell her. The others had resolved to follow him. He sighed and continued walking. "Who the hell asked you for help anyway. If you don't want to help Anya then run along to Feneris I'm sure that someone there will listen to you whine, I for one have no desire to hear it anymore." He felt like these people wouldn't be reliable in battle because they didn't trust him. "As for the rest of you I would rather have children watch my back than those who want to make an enemy of me. So if you don't like me that's your problem, but if you don't like me and want to fight by my side forget it! I can fight fine by myself I have virtue on my side!" He told them.

Arthkill

Arthkill is a demonic manifestation most similar to a being such as legion. His powers are great, as he is a manifestation of a myriad of soldiers who have fallen on battlefields over time but were not collected by the Valkyrie. He applies expert swordsmanship and his connection with the Aether is an ability that gathers much respect and fear. Though his form can be gaseous, he does fight with a form in a solid enough state to harm his being. His form is much like icy manifestation being guided along a wind-driven gaseous form.

Balthazar kept silent again; although he made sure to stay in plain sight of everybody present. When Junpei stormed off, he made no move to halt his progress. He hoped he would go forward and weaken the Demon before dying a terrible death, enabling the rest of them to finish it off. But with Tedrin's death, Balthazar's loyalty switched to Anya; and she suddenly seemed to have inherited val man's intelligence and leadership ability. Anya, with some arguing, decided that they would go and fight the Demon. Balthazar nodded his head with approval, and looked to Ogava for a minute. His eyes said it all; and the Knight knew that his brother would stand beside him and her. However, going with Nez would prove a problem; though the Drag'Konin believed him something more along the lines of a man who had made an error, mislead and mistaken. Junpei on the other hand had an air of arrogance about him as if he'd done nothing wrong, so if Balthazar had any say in it he would let him die before he would lend his shield in his defense. Anya would not kill him, but Balthazar had no problem with ending him. The friend he'd left laying dead behind them attested to that.

Turning to look after the warrior as he walked off ahead of them, Balathazar laughed at him, before growling lowly.
"You arrogant fool. Speak ill if Anya once more and I swear to you, your head will leave your shoulders, and not one person here will stop me from being the cleaver. You would've stood no chance against Tedrin in fair battle; so you stuck him in a moment of confusion. If you go alone, you would die; and you would not be mourned. Bite your tongue and be thankful you will have a chance to walk away with your life, if the Demon doesn't kill you first."

With that the Drag'Konin fell into ranks behind Anya, keeping his mouth shut once more, and steeled himself for what they may face.

Anya was growing ever the more furious with Junpei's holier-than-thou bullshit. But for the moment, she needed to put up with it. She watched after Balthazar and when the Drag was close, she thanked him. Nez gripped the pommel of his blade and turned, following after Junpei. The Drazyll reached down and nez took a grip of her hand before she lifted him so that he could ride on her shoulder. Anya was gearing-up for a very unpleasant trip. At least the Drag and the Inple would be behind her. Nez's powers scared her. What hurt worse was the fact that Nez could have defeated Tedrin in a fair fight but, instead, he killed the man because of a corrupt order he'd given Anya. Even so, she had to understand why Junpei and Nez did things the way that they had. Even more was the fact that they were simply leaving Tedrin behind but there was little to be said for this at the time. There were so many others dead and so little time to do anything about it. She looked back and said, "Tedrin, I will come back for you...and you will be buried the way that you deserve. Until then, Tedrin," she said and turned away. There was no time to waste.

The forest was long and dark, moldy, musty. But what was worse was the fact that creatures crept through the darkness, slithering about, watching them. The Drazyll said something to Nez and he turned toward the rear of the group. He called them to a stop and jumped down. That same burst of wind energy slowed his descent at the last minute and he came to a crouch. He looked back over his shoulder and whispered, "Dryttz says there is something out there...watching us... It's coming for us..."
"What is it...?" Anya said as she pulled an arrow from her quiver, nocked it, and drew it back. She peered into the darkness as the others readied themselves.
"She doesn't know," Nez said. But it's not supposed to be here..."
"What does she mean?"
Finally, Dryttz spoke and said, "This was once their home but now....they are evil spirits and they should not be here... They watch us...but they do not need to follow... They are all around..."
The earth shuttered and Dryttz said, "They are aggravated... I cannot speak to them, I know not what commands them to attack us. This does not make sense..."
"What is she talking about?" Anya asked as a gnarly tree next to them uprooted itself. "What the fuck?" Anya yelled as she released an arrow toward the creature but it pushed straight through it. Oleris was there, with his blade, shoving the creature away with a mighty swing. The creature would not relent. Anya fired another arrow into the creature but it did little good. Nez turned back to Dryttz, bound from the earth with a burst of wind energy. he touched his foot to her knee and vaulted upward, touching the other to her shoulder. He launched himself backward off of her shoulder, turned his body over and thrust himself toward the monster with wind energy. Passing the creature, he carved a large gash in it with his blade and landed in a slide as Dryttz slammed into the creature with the bulk of her body and sent it crashing into a tree above Nez. He rolled out of the way as both the creature and the tree began to come down. Anya leaped away from the site as the two came down and Nez was back on his feet as well. The tree creature swatted the fallen tree away from itself and was ready to come at the group again but Junpei was already attacking.

Junpei didn't care if balthazar thought he was a coward or not. The situation still remained the same. He faced balthazar as the man tried to blend with the crowd. "I don't speak ill of anyone, I just say what my mind tells me. Anya is a fine woman and a grand warrior, but she will always be a woman. She had feelings for Tedrin, a man who is dead because he tried to betray us, forget that and well you'll fall for any deception that comes your way, and I'll be there to make sure you don't die on the whims of another fool! Tedrin is dead whether or not a fair fight was had is irrelevant. If you want to blame someone blame me fine but know this as long as I stay on the path, you can never hope to defeat me. So instead of talking big and slinking into the ranks, be a man and show me what your made of!" Before anything could happen they were attacked by a creature. The others began to attack it, but Junpei was quick to join in. He already had his blade in hand as he charged the creature full force. He drove the blade into the thing's face. He backed off for only a split second leaving the sword in the face. He gripped his right fist and it set ablaze. He let loose a mighty punch hitting the sword's end, his fist exploded with the fire of his rage.

Junpei's attack struck home but it had little effect at the time. Flames exploded over the creature's face but it quickly slapped branches around wildly, extinguishing the flames. It raised branches high into the sky and shoved them into the earth. They speared up around Junpei and grabbed a hold of him, raising him about the earth, constricting his body. Anya pumped arrows at the creature's hide but its exterior was too powerful. Nez turned from where he was and loosed a powerful sword strike. A razor-like eruption of wind energy carved into the earth before smacking into the creature. Anya aimed to fire upon each vine and branch holding on to Junpei at once. She wasn't even sure why she was trying to save him. Dryttz slowly lumbered after the creature but when she finally reached it, she raised her powerful fists, grabbed the monster in one, the vines and branches in the other and ripped them from the earth, tossing Junpei away. "Steady yourself, dear... We fight enemies that are too powerful for one being. You will get yourself killed. I don't care how powerful you think you are but pretentiousness is an ugly and non-befitting trait..."
Nez bound past the creature as it righted itself. Dryttz had talked too much as usual and the tree spirit creature slammed its bulk into her, driving her into a tree. She took lashes from vines that sounded like cracking whips. She needed help.

Sleza gave a small sigh as she listened to Junepei. She smiled and nodded her head. She was on his side, no matter what. For whatever reason, he had been kind to her, and she would repay the favor whatever way she could. When he spoke to Balthazar, she glared at the man. She wanted all of this silly arguing to stop. Someone had been killed, yes, but there was nothing they could do to fix that. Perhaps they had yet to realize they were not alone in their ways. She looked down and sighed. If everyone behaved like this, then they would all die, herself included. She didn't want to die, but if she had too, she would take a blade for just about anyone here. They were all respectable, but all of them also were proud. Too proud. She shook her head. It made her sad to think that this could be it for the small group. She suddenly froze as a cringe ran up her spine though. There was something there. A creature resembling a tree soon attacked, and she found herself flying off of Junepei's shoulder to allow him to attack. She held up her hands to cast, but stopped. It was a tree... What good would her magic do to it? She growled and kept her distance.
