Description

Image
Name: Jane Solara (Last name unknown)
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Race: Human
Status: Tactitian
Location: Unknown

History: At the young age of 5, Jane watched Earth be destroyed from a local space center thousands of miles away from it. Her family had been one of the first to be evacuated from Earth. She was too young to know what was going on, but as soon as the explosions started raining down on her home planet; she knew exactly what was happening.

Jane's father was a very intelligent man, who had been apart of the group that uncoded the first messages received from the Congregate. Her father was granted safety and comfort for his deed in what all thought to be just an unspoken threat, but when ships were spotted heading towards Earth, her father took advantage of the safety and comfort offered.

Not long after the war had started, Jane's parents enlisted her into one of the most tactful school on the base. She began studying the art of war and how to make the decisions to win one. Being only a small child, she was set apart from the older crowd of children until a year or two after her arrival at the base when she stepped up to be lead tactitian in her group of soldiers. From the first word that escaped her mouth, adults around the base took note of her skills in war and her abilities to plan attacks that were overlooked.

By the time she hit her teenage years, she was considered the youngest and most successful tactitian. This was the gateway into her future career as one of the most desired tactitians. Soon after her praise for her skills, her mother caught a deadly disease that had somehow managed to spread across the base. The morning after her mother's death, Jane and her father were transported to the headquarters of Earth.

Only a few hours after settling in, Jane and her father were assigned jobs that best fit their skills. Jane being grouped with elite tactitians, who soon discovered her ability in war to be most needed. Her father was admitted back with his original group of scientist and translators that had been saved in war.

This new life seemed perfect until the Congregate attacked the headquarters. Jane had been sent off to a local space center to recruit young tactitians. Jane didn't find out the news until she was on her way back to HQ. She only asked one thing and that was the report of survivors. There were none.

Nine years after the HQ incident, Jane found herself shut-off from the world around her. To her, she had nothing left to live for. Her parents had died away from land. They couldn't be buried beneath the dirt they had both lived most of their lives on. This struck a new flame within Jane..

She would get Earth back.

Personality: As a young girl, Jane learned from training that emotions were something best keep hidden. She had mastered the control of her emotions until her mother past. This broke Jane, and her father was the only thing left holding her together. At HQ, Jane began to open up and laugh at the people around her. She realized that taking life too serious would make this a very long, miserable one. She had finally found a place she could call home.

With this new found happiness, Jane opened the idea of love. She would catch herself thinking about dating someone on the ship and having the same love her parents had shared with each other. It seemed that fate didn't like the life Jane imagined herself having and intervened.

The loss of Jane's father was all it took to completely shatter her heart. The idea of love faded along with the memory of her parents. She now found herself feeling trapped in a dark, lonely place. She had nowhere to run to, so she found herself traveling from base to base. She had turned into something she vowed to never be; a drifter. She had no desire to connect with any of the beings she had met as she moved through the galaxy. To her, she only need strictly professional relationships to survive. And this was where she was wrong.

She was on her way back to a compartment she had been renting out for the week when she found her mind wondering, so the direction she intended on going got lost along with her concentration. She now found herself at the body release section of the space center. She watched as a family said goodbye to what looked like their father. The commanders in charge of the release shoved out the family because they were on a schedule.

Jane couldn't look away as she watched the young mother clutch her children close to her as their father was thrown out into space to float from now until forever. She knew what the kids were feeling, and she vowed to herself that she would try to save as many families from this lack of a funeral as possible.
She finally opened her eyes and saw the person she could be. She had finally found hope.

Skills: Jane had started training with a sword after the death of her father. She found peace in the way the sword moved through air. She felt herself become graceful with the sword. Unlike most weapons of the time, her sword would not stall or break during a fight that could lead to death. Her reflexes soon showed to be an asset as she became quicker than most of the men in war. She began to study the art of stealth in depth and practiced with her sword daily. She could have easily became a drugged out waste of space in life, but this kept her mind at ease when she practiced.

Through her years of traveling, she came across many skilled fighters that taught her to use her quickness for more than she had expected. Jane's physical appearance became a weapon for her as many soldiers during her training sessions would ease up on her because she seemed so brittle and small, but as soon as they let their guard down for a second she would strike. The second of doubt that had felt towards her ability to fight would be the cause of their death, but one deadly sin one would commit is to question her swordsmanship. Do that and you'll surely be cut.

So begins...

The message startled Jaron, he'd been half-sleeping for the past hour or so, in and out of dreams. "Ugh" he uttered, he usually was an early riser but the new environment must have thrown him off. He listened to the message and hurried to get ready, but his restless night was determined to hold him back. Once out of his cabin in his fresh uniform he ran, finally waking up to Cap's office, worried that he'd be late again. Not late maybe, he would arrive three or four minutes before the message said to be there but it seemed inevitable that he'd be last.

The door had just closed behind the last entrant as he slowed down and walked calmly into the room. The wall of telescreen impreseed him as he noted the differences in the room. Jaron saluted, then looked around at the collection of people deciding to sit next to the new girl. He hoped to finally meet someone the right way , he held out his hand and said with a smile "Good morning, I'm Jaron... the pilot."

He was rather excited for the meeting that would give the details on their first mission as a team.

Julian smiled as Greer entered. His team was assembled, though it was possible more might join even after the briefing. That seemed unlikely though. He was happy. There was at least one Federation member. That'd be good for PR, among other things. He held, in his right hand, a small remote control which he activated the viewscreen with. Upon activating it, the lights in the room cut off and the display was bright within the dark room.

"Ladies, gentlemen, I'm glad you could all make it."

A map of the Milky Way appeared on the screen. Cap moved closer to it and plopped his remote on the desk. There was only a few buttons on it, due to the screen being touch based. The man looked over the map carefully, then tapped a very specific point, not two far from the Republic fleet. His eyes gleamed and he stepped back as the display zoomed in on...

"Our first destination isn't Earth," he said, looking back at the team as he moved completely out of the way of the screen. A sector was now in sight, hovering and pulsating with life before the team. "We don't have an entirely firm lead one which of these worlds it is, but we've narrowed it down to three unnamed planets. Our information is based on intelligence gathering from unduli aboard this ship, unduli who have explored many of the vast corners of the galaxy prior to running into our kind. You're all human, so you probably don't know about our target."

He looked back at the map, his eyelids thinning.

"It is believed," he went on, "that a race of alien exists on one of these worlds that may have survived the Congregate attack and actually caused the jecktar and their fleets to flee. We don't know the exact name of this race, though according to the unduli, who have come into contact with other aliens in further sectors of this galaxy, they may be known as Anathians. We aren't sure what they're called, but that doesn't matter. Our first objective involves going to each of these three worlds and scanning from afar for anomolies."

He moved to the screen and tapped one of the stars in the sector, then one of the planets as it zoomed in.

"This desert world will be the first one we scan. Whether there are any life forms there remains to be seen. Hell, for all we know the Anathians could be dead by now. But the point is that we need to look."

Cap's eyes fell to the floor as he said, "It's slim, but it's a lead."

He then stood in front of the display and held both hands behind his back, saying, "Once we've done that we'll take the fight to the Congregate back on Earth. Until we obtained whatever the Anathians used, if they even existed at all, I will not have a plan for exactly what we're doing on the planet."

His eyes fall on Jaron.

"Greer, I haven't found a pilot good enough to handle my ship in some time. You'll be doing that job."

He then turned to Solara.

"Jane, we don't know what we'll find on the Anathian planet. We won't be constantly unified in one group. If push comes to shove and we have to split up, I'm having you lead one of the teams. And if it gets worse..."

And his eyes fell on Doug.

"Penknife, you're going to be leading a third team if anything happens creating a LARGE division. If I am ever..."

He paused, to breathe the air. This air was cool, breezy almost, like home.

Earthbound was he who held the flame of the golden dawn.

"...compromised physically, you or Jane may end up having to take my place as captain of the Deliverance."

He finally looked to Miss Lawrence.

"Andreah, you'll be useful in combat thanks to your sniping skills. As for your ship activities, that'll depend on the situation at hand. You may want to introduce Tyriel, our engineer, to your little robot friend."

He picked up his remote and turned off the viewscreen. The lights came back up in response.

"We will be here for a day longer as I await any last minute recruits. Questions?"

He was straight as an arrow in posture, his eyes hard, but behind them a certain apprehension. He could feel the weight of Atlas' "shoulder cargo" pressing upon him once more. This was it, the start of the orbital drop.

Pattern 2215: spiral formation. He'd only seen the vids, but understood. It was suicide without casualties if performed properly--

"I do, just remember how powerful Unduli liquor is." Douglas nodded just before Cap's presentation started.

Douglas was the first to bring up a query after Cap's presentation had finished. The whole thing seemed rather hopeless, this race could be extinct, he was splitting and already small team into (what was currently) three pairs to scour a whole planet for some object that may not exist or do what it was supposed to. Besides, if there was life there is may not want to co-operate and would possibly offer violent resistance. Douglas supposed they would have to hope for the best.
"If these Anathians are just figments of Unduli mythology and whatever they used doesn't exist, are we going to give up, just like that?" Douglas asked, "There must be another way of taking back Earth. For all we know another race helped these Anathians against the Jecktar. How do we know this wasn't just some situation like the American Revolution where a huge number of idiots was placed against a small number of elites and won because of sheer manpower? We seem to be relying on a legend here."

Julian paced to one side of the room and was quiet for some time. His heart beat slowly, like a bass drum. As he responded, he did not face any members of his assembled team.

"The American Revolution wasn't just a bunch of idiots. Granted, it was a bit of a misfit group, and maybe there weren't any highly trained soldiers, but there were men like Washington on the side of the Continental Army."

His eyes fell to the floor. Leadership had won that war, and strong soldiers fighting underneath it.

"I'm not attempting to liken myself to the General," he continued, "but I will, under whatever circumstances, find another way if this one turns out incorrect. We're fighting incredible odds; incredible luck might be just what we need."

He finally looked in Doug's direction.

"Ever read of the Battle of Trenton, Penknife? The crossing of the Delaware?"

Andreah stood in awe and in silence. First of all, she was finally going to be a sniper! Engineering labs were her home, but she had spent far too much time in them for her to stand being an engineer on this mission.

A thousand questions flew through her head and stored themselves into the depths of her mind, but that was for another time. There was plenty of time for questions, and lord knew she had them.

"If there's even a chance of their still existing, we have to find out..." she muttered quietly. Her voice could have been mistaken for someone who had just seen the sun for the first time, "We'll find something. It's not incredible luck that wins a battle, it's incredible will."

That was Andreah's belief, anyway. You couldn't factor luck into an equation and when you could, luck lost 9 times out of 10. The heroes of war won because they persevered. They hit hard and moved fast.

It seemed the Unduli she had previously encountered would be the engineer. Tyriel. She had the sneaking suspicion that she'd be working with him quite a bit.

Julian looked to Andreah, then over to Doug as he made an addition to what he'd said previously. The captian nodded.

"I understand. You were right to at least question me. I understand this must seem strange, me banking the Anathians on luck. But I have a good feeling about this one. And again, I have a backup plan..."

His eyes fell to the floor as he went on, "...I just hope we don't have to fall back on that."

Jane had listened to what everyone was saying. She didn't want to speak until she knew everyone was done. Straightening out her uniform, she stood making her way over to the display in the back of the room. She stood there for quiet sometime as she listened to what Douglas was saying and then the argument the Captain had thrown back at him. She rubbed her fingers along her eye brows as she listened to the two men. She didn't even hear what the other girl had said because she was running through so many thoughts at once.

As soon as she heard the Captain ask for anymore questions, she turned back towards the rest of her team. "I have no questions, but concerns. As the tactitian of this team, I am one to advise how we approach certain situations, Captain. By approach, I mean the best way to protect our soldiers. With us pretty much going on a suicide mission, we need to conserve as much manpower as possible. In order to successfully do this, we would need to form two large groups. The issue with the this is that not many men or women want to be on this mission. Therefore, we don't have the luxury of being able to split into two groups to search this planet."

She let what she was saying sink in with her fellow crew members before continuing. "Since the terrain is mostly desert, we are bound to lose one or more of us due to dehydration. Yes, we could easily prevent the casualty by carrying them along, but how do you expect a group of three people to carry that one fallen soldier and protect themselves in the way that is most fit for the situation on a possible hostile planet. We are going in blind. If you were to supply me a map of the actual planet, I might be able to pinpoint a certain area that would best match the possibility of an alien civilization based on the history of all cultures."

She sat back down at the seat she had previously left, letting her elbows rest on her knees. "I'm sorry for so much concern, Captain. It's my job to think of the impossible and make it into an option of possibility. The Unduli say that they ran across this race. Every race known in the galaxy changes. For god's sake, look at us. Look how much we've changed."

Jaron had nothing to say, it was his job to get everyone to the destination and back safely. He didn't have much authority on any other subject but he too was concerned. There was a definite chance that they could very well find something, a weapon, a strategy, whatever it was this race is told to have possessed but even as a pilot, not a commander, tactician or captain, he realized the futility of a such a mission. Desert planets were not easy to navigate or explore into, but he did see the determination on Cap's face. It was clear he had suffered at the hand of the Jecktar, so had Douglas and Jane but Cap was looking into every tiniest bit of hope to find something that could help him win back Earth.

Captain Russell tinned his eyes and realized that he had not announced something to the team. Jane had reminded him of this.

"Miss Solara, it will be possible to divide into larger teams," he began. "My ship is rather large and couldn't simply be operated by the few here. I do have a crew. Some have spoken to me about their willingness to come down with us to the planets prior to Earth itself. They would be led by you and I--and possibly Doug, as I've mentioned before--if team divisions needed to be made. However, I understand your concern about dehydration. We will only need to hit the planet's surface if an anomoly is detected. If there's none, there shouldn't be a problem. If anyone does grow too exhausted from the heat, I do have a communcation channel open constantly with my ship's crew. An evac shuttle could be sent down to get the team member."

He then grew a bit cold as he stepped closer to the team, saying, "I would hope, however, that you would all be tough enough to handle the harsh conditions we'll be facing ahead. The 'suicide section,' if you will, won't have begun until we're within range of the Congregate fleet."

Julian's eyes moved to Jane: "Is that all?"

"You," he began, replying to Jane, "will receive all of the current data we have on the planet's surface."

She would find that, though the planet was indeed a desert, within some of the many canyons were signs of caves. However, not very many details were available concerning what could be found there, only general features.

Julian then nodded and finished, "You are all dismissed. I'll be sending out another broadcast after twenty-four Earth-based hours have passed. The broadcast will provide directions to the docking bay in which the Deliverance rests. If you need to bring large amounts of possessions, that'll be fine. We have several officers' quarters which you can all put to good use, since the only two officers I have are Jack and Louis."

He then looked back at the blank screen, breathing a heavy sigh.

"Perfect. Caps," Andreah said, snapping out of her awe-filled daze and now, sounding only sincere, "I'd just like to say thanks again. For all of this."

She grinned, eager, and saluted him. She was one of the younger crew mates who would be on the ship, and she certainly felt it. Everyone else seemed a tad... formal. Of course, she supposed a person had to be; especially Caps and Jane, who had good reason. Growing up on the Excalibur, they had not prepared her for this. It seemed, as a child, when the engineers had formal business to attend to, they would leave her in the labs, so she wasn't particularly informed as to how she should act in these situations. By the time they came back to the lab, they were no longer saluting and shaking hands and calling people "sir." Where Andreah grew up, she had only seen them tweaking and talking and laughing, like friends, not co-workers.

She felt the need to add one more thing. She looked to Jane and the Captain, "I don't suppose I could see a map of earth?"

She felt the need to linger. She had no reason to, of course, but outside of the recruitment station, Andreah felt like an anonymous face. She patted the pocket of her bag- the pistol was still there. Anonymity wasn't such a curse, though. Perhaps she would take this time to get acquainted with the Sunstrider and the ships docked inside it.

Douglas smiled back at Jane, but slightly nervously, as he was unsure of how lucky the team was going to get.

Once the Captain dismissed his crew, Douglas stood, pushed his chair back under the table and coughed loudly to remind Cap that he was also an officer, and that Jack and Louis were possibly lower ranks than he was. He left the room somewhat disturbed by Cap's half-baked plan.

As he left Cap's office he noticed Jane waiting for him outside, sitting on a chair in the waiting room. Douglas sat down beside her and let out a deep sigh.
"I really hope the Cap's backup plan is better than this one." He said quietly, "I might just be pessimistic, I'm sure he didn't reach the rank of Captain without having any tactical ability, but this plan seems to be clutching a single string of luck. You're our tactician, what do you think about this? Have you got any suggestions as to how to make this better?"

Jane was glad to see that Douglas was just as concerned as she was. It felt so hard to keep her thoughts to herself before she had to speak out. "We are going to die." Her words were straight to the point, and she didn't know if she wanted to take back her words, as she noticed several people that had been walking by now looked in her direction. She let her hands catch her head as she let her fall towards her knees. She had taken in everything Douglas had said, but only one part really stuck out to her. 'You're our tactician, what do you think about this? Have you got any suggestions as to how to make this better?'

Feeling Douglas' eyes on her, she let herself rise from the chair only speaking three words. "We stick together." With that she said a quick goodbye to Douglas before heading to her room to gather the few belongings she possessed. This was the beginning of the end, which if all things went right, it wouldn't be.. Jane just couldn't help thinking it was; the end.

Previously on Renaissance: Captain Julian Russel assembled a team of misfit specialists in an attempt to retake the human homeworld of Earth from the Jecktar Congregate. The team members so far are Jane Solara, Tyriel Tanani, Douglas "Penknife" Arthurs, Andreah Lawrence, and pilot Jaron Greer. They were all briefed on their first objective: to acquire the technology of a race only spoken of in tall tales and ancient lore. Some of them believed the captain was nuts to bank everything on these rumors, but his desperation was justified by a so-called "backup plan."

Meanwhile, Admiral Zhotan Kuro has begun to concentrate on the activities of this new team, hoping it does well on its mission to save Earth. On the other hand, Admiral Damond Price of the Federation Navy has more pessimistic views, especially after receiving news from a scouting team he sent to Earth (well, the pilot of the team). Apparently the Congregate has been augmenting humans in some way. It's unknown what the reason was.

On Earth itself, the one they call "Chief" has lost his team to the jecktar. Only time will tell whether he'll be alive by the time Cap's team reaches the planet. On a side note, it seems he and his resistance were experimenting new ways of defeating the jecktar. Could this be the solution to defeating them?

Well shall find out in the first true chapter of the series:

CHAPTER ONE: GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN.

Julian sounded off the alert to report to the Sunstrider's primary hangar bay. A large congregation was surrounding the ship now. Julian stood on the boarding ramp answering the questions of reports, some from the Republic, others from the Federation.

"It's been rumored," one human reporter began, "that your current objective is based on legends and speculation, Captain Russell. Why attempt this mission at all with such slim odds of starting, let alone success?"

Julian kept his poker face up as he answered, "I don't know where you heard that rumor, but I can say with complete certainty that it is false and should be dismissed by any who believe it in the slightest."

He wondered who had spilled the beans. There was a Non-Disclosure Agreement that everyone had to sign when asked about the Anathians.

Now, where were those crew members of his? It had been at least two hours since he sent the alert. They'd have to push through the crowd, but that'd come alone fine.

"Oh my god, shut up!" Jane yelled towards the intercom for her to report to the Sunstrider as soon as possible. She pulled the pillow over her face to muffle out the message because right now all she wanted to do was sleep. She had been up all night going over maps after maps of Earth trying to familiar herself with her home planet. She let herself stay up way too late because this morning was such a pain to force herself out of bed. Once she finally managed to get her feet to the floor, she confirmed the message thirty minutes after it's arrival. "For the love of space--" She said as she slipped off her clothes and entered the small space that they kept the shower. She let herself stay in there for way too long as another message was sent for a reminder. She was in no rush to face the crowd that would welcome her to the ship.

It took a total of ten minutes to get her uniform on and fix her hair the way she wanted to be presented to the public, so as she finally exited her compartment sending her bags with a delivering officer she made pace until she could her the crowd just on the other side of the door. She took a deep breath before scanning her name for clearance and what she saw was magnificent. The ship was beautiful, but what made it more interesting was the way people actually seemed interested in this mission. She hadn't taken one step when the camera crew approached her. "Hello Jane Solara. My name is Genza Scott from the Federation. I was hoping I could get a few questions in before you are off on your way. Is that fine with you?" Jane gave a quick nod before the questions poured in from all directions. "Do you think this is your way of paying back your father for all the work he did on Earth?" Completely caught off guard by the question, she felt herself frozen. "Come again, please."

The woman had to repeat the question three more times before Jane finally gathered words to say. "I do not feel I have to pay back anybody for the work my father did. I am doing this for everyone that just wants to go home." As soon as the words came out of her mouth, she knew she had messed up. "Oh. You do not consider the Federation your home?" As soon as that reporter finished, another started. "Jane, you don't owe anybody?! Who do you think you are? You owe everybody for being alive!" This was beginning to get very overwhelming for her, so all she knew to do was run for the ship. She looked for an exit, but there wasn't one. She was trapped with a bunch of reporter that now hated her. "Could you please excuse me? I need to board the ship." She wanted to try to save the situation that was forming in front of her, but all that she managed to do was make it worse. "You want to run away from your problems, Jane? You can't run forever." Then another comment, "Did you just sign up for the mission to die, Jane? Maybe it's better to get somebody that believes in the Federation."

It took another ten minutes before an officer pushed back the reporters. Jane felt horrible. She felt the tears forming in her eyes, but refused to let these reporters get the best of her. As she finally made it next to Captain, she just walked straight past him without a word. She couldn't speak. She had been verbally beaten by the crowd of reporters and all she wanted to do was hide for days. As she came into the ship, she noticed the whole team was gathered. She kept her eye's to the ground, so nobody could see the pain that was going through her. She found a seat to the side and placed herself there until she would be dismissed by Captain Russell.

Captain Russell was stunned, and reached for Jane as he himself was suddenly battered by questions. His eyes were filled with a newfound rage.

"Jane--Jane!" he was calling. He turned back to the sea of reporters and glared, sucking in his lips. Douglas was still within the crowd. He was ready to shout "SCREW YOU ALL" at the top of his lungs, but he realized that would only cause more problems.

"Captain Russell," one reported cried, "won't it be a problem having an emotionally compromised crew member on this mi--?"

Julian cut her off, hoping Jane could hear him bellow, "I wouldn't have an emotionally compromised crew member if you reporters weren't acting like CHILDISH, ARROGANT TABLOID AUTHORS!"

The noise began to die down. Had Jane heard? What would Doug do? Had Cap made his first big mistake?

Douglas was horrified by the state Jane had rushed past him in, she looked as if she was about to burst into a fit of tears thanks to the reporters. He was about to turn and shout at the reporters, but Cap beat him to it. He could tell by the look in Cap's eyes that he was worried he had made the wrong decision, but Douglas thought his outburst his been perfectly justified.
"How dare you, I'll-" one of the journalists protested, but Douglas had heard enough.
He launched his mechanical hand at the journalist, grabbed him by the collar and dragged him towards him. Once the chain had fully snapped back into place, the reporter the only inches away from Douglas' face and could feel his bull-like breath against his face.
"Listen to me well, Fed," Douglas began angrily, "I'm sure your snobbish boss is paying you for information, but if you continue to infringe on innocent citizens' personal rights, let alone citizens who are attempting to retake Earth, not only for you but for all the millions who lost their homes, I will drag you along on this mission and hurl you into the vacuum of space! Do you understand?!"
Douglas dropped the cowering journalist roughly, before focusing his attention to the rest of the crowd.
"That includes all of you lot as well! Make yourselves scarce!"

Julian was numb when Doug finished. The reporters did scatter, but Captain Russell new the truth well enough.

"We won't be receiving a very friendly welcome when we get back," he said in a low voice. He turned to Penknife and added, "I didn't think it'd end well either way. Er...thanks, I suppose."

His eyes wavered. Every pulse of blood that ran through him seemed to be just a passing, weak wave of energy. He wasn't all there right then, off in the future seeing to "boos" and hisses that would come upon their return--

--if they even returned.

Captain Russell walked up the boarding ramp himself after Doug had departed. He wondered whether or not Tienette had gotten the memo to get on the ship soon and get right to work. He also hoped Andreah had made it to the med-bay. He looked around a bit, searching for someone. And when he found her, Jane, sitting looking to the floor, he kneeled beside her as a father might (though the analogy is a bit far from the case).

"Hey," he began, "I know asking if you're okay might come across as ignorant. So I guess I'll ask: are you going to be okay?"

His eyes had a certain warmth that they didn't carry often.

Jane had watched several people walk past her as she just remained in her current position. She could have easily fallen sleep at this point because she didn't want her mind to wonder back to where it had just been with all of those reporters surrounding her, bashing her after every reply she had just given. They made it harder for Jane to find hope that they'd return to this place because to her, not even the people that should believe in them the most had any guarantee of their return. She was just about to stand up when the Captain's presence startled her. "Hey, I know asking if you're okay might come across as ignorant. So I guess I'll ask: are you going to be okay?" She looked up at the Captain, giving him a nod before standing up beside him.

"I shouldn't have even let those.." She searched her mind for the right word to use in front of the Captain, but completely lost the care to even bother with formality. "..those ignorant bastards that they considered themselves to be reporters. They bashed me to get this out of me." She said as she let her hands run down her body to symbolize the tension that was coming from her. "They wanted to see me break! Hell, they wanted to see all of us break before we left, so when the possibility of our return came up they didn't care.. Because to them, we were the weak ones anyways. Losing the weak only made them stronger." She could feel her blood boiling inside her as she shook off all of the thoughts. "Captain, I'd like to take a while to calm down. I don't want the rest of the team to see me like this." She said as she gave him a quick salute before excusing herself.

Jane found herself walking for what seemed like hours, but looking down at her watch she realized it hadn't even been ten minutes. She had walked all that she could bare, so as she let her back lean against the ship interior, she slid down it until she felt herself resting on the floor. She had no idea where on the ship she was, but it felt good to be there. She looked up and down the corridor before taking one deep breath. She paused before letting out the louder scream she could manage. After the scream's echoes had died down, a smile came across Jane's face with the pleasure the scream had given her. Now that she felt herself calm down, she began thinking of where to go next. All she knew was that she needed to let herself scream it out more often.

OOC: By the way, anybody is welcomed to run into Jane or something. I have her drifting around the ship now.
