Introduction
September 6th, 2010 - After two days, the rioting has spread to major cities. Reports of cannibalism begin to flood news channels. The president issues a state of emergency and advises citizen to stay in their homes until the National Guard arrives to transport them to safe zones. The media finally establishes there has been an outbreak of a new disease they're calling Mortis.
September 9th, 2010 - The president is attacked outside The White House during a press conference. He is rushed to the hospital and Vice President Samuel Young assures the public that the situation is under control. Safe Zones are established near major cities, but with the growing number of infected, its hard to keep the zones safe. The president passes away while in surgery. Samuel Young assumes position as president, and in a live speech announces that the situation is "UNDER CONTROL". Even with these promises of safety, New York is completely overrun by nightfall. Large groups of the undead start moving south.
September 12th, 2010 - President Young appears and admits the situation is out of control. He instates martial law and regrettably resigns as president. Most news networks go off the air. The remaining ones advise survivors to stay in groups and avoid major cities. Airports close down. The United Nations withdraws all support.
September 13th, 2010 - All media comes to a halt in the small town of Still Creek except for a local channel. The virus has reached a neighboring town about fifteen miles away. Families stay in the home for most of the day watching the lone newscaster relay what little information he can. At 8:36 PM, just as the sun disappears, he receives word of a safe zone in a town called Amber Mills. Soldiers, acting on their own have blocked off the entrances to the town, offering shelter from the outbreak. Most families leave right away. A handful decide to wait until morning before making a move. By 9:30 PM, half of Still Creek leaves in a convoy. The remaining citizen watch in horror as the new station is overrun live on the air. As of midnight, no one that left with the convoy can be reached.
September 14th, 2010 - As the clock strikes twelve, many townsfolk begin to realize the dead are on their way. A meeting for all remaining residents is called at The Town Hall. This is where our story begins. This is where your story begins...

"Why don't we drag the third suit of riot gear with the flashbangs? I'll be alright. I'll carry the pistols and watch our backs." He was really trying to be as least useless as possible, at the same time not ready to admit his age has whittled him down from an expert outdoorsman and soldier to an old, weak man. Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts. We'll survive this, all of us.
"While the night is young, ma'am?"

Kurt held his hands up as he entered, guns were brought up to him, then Kurt lowered his hands as the guns were lowered.
"You guys were taking a while, I thought you might need a hand," he says in a hushed voice. He nodded to June, then stood by the door, keeping an eye on the hallway.

"Get this down to the survivors. Have them break it up equally. If someone is wearing shorts, give them the Kevlar pants. Shirts with no sleeves will get the jacket" She explained.
She waited for Joseph and Ark to enter the room, covering them while they made their way down the ladder. She turned to Kurt.
"Doesn't look like the station is gonna do us much good. I'm thinking we head out into the woods and make a dash for that bomb shelter. Once we get down there, will you help me explain that to everyone?" She asked him.
She leaned against the wall, allowing Kurt to descend the ladder. She was watching him move closer to the hatch when she felt the sting on her shoulder. Her right ear fell deaf and all she could hear was the buzzing of silence. The infected pulled away, tearing a large chuck of flesh from her neck. She didn't scream because she couldn't believe what was happening. Stumbling forward, she turned and fired her 12 gauge directly at the beast head, spraying the wall of the hallway with bits of brain and skull fragments. June, holding the area, turned to Kurt.
"Kurt, take the gun" She said, forcing the shotgun into his hands. "When you get down there, get moving" She finished, pushing him away.
Her focus returned to the doorway, now swarming with undead.
"Ralph! Take the group to the bunker! It's an order!" She shouted down to him, slamming the hatch shut.
Ralph hurried up the ladder and pushed on the hatch. It was locked.
"God damnit, June! Open this hatch!" He screamed, continuing to bang.
June removed her pistol and took aim at the zombies pouring into the room.
"Ralph, please do as I say! Take the survivors to the ladder that empties out into the woods and head for the bunker! GO!" She shouted, before opening fire.
The shots continued for several seconds, followed by choking gurgles and then silence. Ralph slowly scaled the ladder and joined the group below. The stood there in silence for well over a minute, with only the pounding and moans of the infected above echoing through the tunnels.

Kurt stared at the shotgun, and frowned. "And a shotgun? Anyone need a shotgun?"

"I guess I could take it" He muttered softly.
He took the gun in his hands, wiping a tear from his eye.
"Kurt, are you okay?" He asked.
Ralph was probably just as effected by the loss.

"What do we do after the bomb shelter? We can't stay there forever, these infected will just surround us until we starve to death! I've seen this all before, it's standard siege doctrine, and it always ends badly for the defenders! We should get whatever supplies we can from it, and then get the hell out of there! We can't let that bomb shelter become our prison!" A few of the group looked obviously confused and skeptical, so Arkady elaborated.
"We stay ahead of the infected, keep moving forward. If we stay too long in any one spot, they'll catch up, surround us, and then escape will be impossible! Our advantage over these things will be speed!"

"That's some smart thinking there, Ark" He said.
He had always liked Ark, frequenting his shop to shoot the breeze when business was slow.
"I agree that the bomb shelter would just end up being a tomb" He began, pausing for a moment to make sure his plan made sense. "Okay, hows this sound? We head for the ladder near the shelter. It'll be dawn shortly, so we won't be completely blind. This time though, we all stick together. Two with guns go up first, then cover as the unarmed exit, then as we move, we have two more armed lookouts in the back, like Joseph said earlier. When we reach the shelter, we get inside and get everybody comfortable, armed and fed. After we've got that done, I say the most able bodied of us head back to hatch, so we can avoid the swarm in town, and enter the bus station from underneath. We can fix up the bus and then bring everybody there, because I think we'll all agree that leaving town it the best plan..." He announced to the group.
He looked at Ark.
"Now Ark... Did you have any rifles left in your store? Any kind of weapons?" He questioned.
He had an idea for team, and if Ark did have munitions, everything would be working out perfectly. They'd take everyone to the bunker and drop them off, leaving Satchel in charge. Ralph, Kurt, Ark and Joseph would head to the bus depot. Ark's store was a block away, and if they used the roof access at the depot, they could take the rooftops all the way there. They could load up the bus while it was being fixed, then retrieve the survivors and get the hell out of Dodge.

"Let's get to the bomb shelter. We should be ready by dawn. Time is money."

"Alright, the woods are above us and the fallout shelter is about a mile and a half south. I'll go up first since I have the 12 gauge. Blast the legs right out from underneath any of those fuckers if they're shuffling around nearby. Then we'll bring everyone up" He explained, cocking his shotgun and turning to the ladder.
Ralph began his slow climb to the the hatch, cracking it slightly to inspect the area, only to find the area dead. Dead as in empty, not the other kind.
He stood and inspected the area, before calling down to the group.
"Hey, come on! Quick though! Area is clear but stay quiet and with the group!" He shouted softly.

"Joe, you gotta calm down. You can get the food, that's fine, but right now I need you to watch the woods since you've got a gun" He said, watching the last group member climb out of the hatch. "There's a six month supply of rations in the bunker, okay? If we get there safe, we can take some with us to the bus. We'll figure it all out when we get there" He said, shutting the hatch.
He walked out in front, motioning for Joseph to follow.
"Alright, stay together and if you see an Infected and you don't have a weapon, call out and point... We'll get em!" He said holding up the gun.
He looked at Joe.
"Ready kid?" He asked. "Let's move" He whispered, moving forward.

Joseph tossed down the burnt down cigarette and lit up a third *I should probably cut back on the smoking, will really be a detriment if I have to walk anywhere* he thought before shrugging to himself and inhaling deeply before checking his machete and the handgun he had from the police station and heading back towards the tunnel system.

With that Joseph headed down the tunnel thinking and mumbling to himself quietly. When he reached the access tunnel, Joseph looked back to check on the group behind him and motioned for them to wait while he climbed up to check on the bus station for infected.
