“There exists a strange house that has many rumors surrounding it. Some say it’s haunted, and others say it’s cursed, but really, there exists no one alive today who knows the truth. . . .”
Life is full of ups and downs . . . it never goes perfectly, and no matter how good things might seem, problems always find a way to arise. . . .
Everyone has a problem, may it be big or may it be small, but every living soul has them. And there always come a time where these issues must be dealt with. Now, there are some people who choose to confront these issues head on, and right away rather than going ahead and waiting it out, but then, there are those people who go ahead and wait until the last moment to face something. . . . These people tend to ignore what they should be concerned with, or even go so far as to deny its existence entirely, and they don’t deal with it until they absolutely have to. More often than not, this approach allows whatever problem they are shoving away to just grow and grow until it becomes something else wholly.
These are the types of people with which ‘it’ is concerned.
Just what is ‘it’ you ask? Well, ‘it’ is the reason that some people have made seemingly miraculous turnarounds in their lives; that they have managed to face their problems or come to terms with something they’ve denied for ages. . . .
‘It’ is a house.
Indeed, though it may sound crazy, there exists out there a strange, charmed house which overlooks the lives of as many people as ‘it’ may, and every so often when ‘it’ finds ‘itself’ looking over a set of people who just so happen to be burdened with problems they won’t deal with will ‘it’ then choose to act. It was for this sole reason that this house was built, to help those hesitant, troubled souls find some peace and the strength within themselves to face their problems head on, and to absolve themselves of their strife.
Now, this house has once again found ‘itself’ overlooking a group of eight uneasy young adults who all have but one thing in common among them; they each carry within them a problem they will not deal with. With ‘it’s’ purpose in mind, the house has once again decided to open its doors to these people so that they may find a way to overcome all that haunts them. . . .

”I’ve heard that anyone who gets invited to stay there never returns the same person—if they return at all.”
It all starts with a letter. To each of these eight young adults, ‘it’ has a letter drawn up, calling them into its walls. What the letters says, the reason that the person’s presence is requested, each is unique to the individual. But, no matter what was said, one after another, whether out of belief for the letter, or out of curiosity, the eight come. They gather, all strangers with something in common, and come into the house. Of course, they could never expect that it was the house itself that sent to them their letters. Moreover, they could never suspect that they would find themselves trapped on the house grounds once they accepted their invitation. . . .
The house’s charm, the magic that encompasses it, activates when those whom the house has selected to assist enter into its walls willingly and have accepted their summons. Unable to leave the property, these eight individuals must all find a way to overcome the problems they face on the outside world, or they must gather the resolve to do so. This is the only way they can ever hope to leave . . . and worse yet, they must all overcome their problems together, the eight as a whole. It is together they enter into the house, and it is together that they must leave.

Character Slots/Miscellaneous Information
Character slots are what they are, there are eight of them, and there are no more. Reservations are accepted, request those in the OOC Thread, but note that there is a deadline on how long a reservation will be held—you have forty-eighty hours to complete a character sheet unless you post a notice that it might take longer in the OOC, or you PM me about that. If someone has any questions about the character skeleton or about anything in general regarding this roleplay, let me know OOC or again, through a PM if you want to. ^-^
Now, as far as things go with making your characters . . . one of the most important aspects of the characters you create for this roleplay regards the undeniable fact that they have something wrong with them; some sort of problem in their life that they haven’t come to terms with yet. What these problems are, are entirely up to you. Get creative with them, they can range from crippling social problems/phobias to just about any other realistic-real life problem your mind can conceive, if you choose to do something that is very serious, however, I have complete faith that it’ll be treated as such. :)
Regarding the letter sent to your character that draws them to the mansion, the contents that it contains is entirely up to you. In addition to your main character here, there is a secondary character that you shall create as a companion soul, they are a sort of inhuman soul who is bound to the house that the character are going to be trapped by. They are not evil at all, but they are instead like helpers, they cook and clean, and are there for comfort and advice. More information on this can be found below the main character skeleton. Profiles do not have to be submitted for them, instead there will be an OOC Thread where you can give some general information on them.

[u]The Problem:[/u] What problem in their life is bad enough that the house would pick them from the whole of society to ‘help?’ What is it that your character is not able to face on their own in reality? How does this express itself in their life; does it show in the way they act toward others, or does it manifest in some very unhealthy way? Such as, does it gnaw away at them on the inside, while they just let it fester away, or does it make them regard others terribly?

The House
It is a large manor whose presence is a foreboding one; despite the fact that it looks ancient, this home is nothing but on the inside. It is never without electricity, or running water, and it is connected well to the outside world through television and the Internet, it also has working phone lines. The house is indeed magic though, as its kitchen is never short on food and drink. And the items found in its cabinets and in its refrigerator are always the favorites of the current occupants. OF course though, the home does have some catches to how nice it is; there is the fact that one cannot leave its premises until the proper time. Try as one might when the house’s spell has been set into motion, a person will find themselves completely unable to wander off the house’s property, they might try to but they’ll only wind up back where they started, or even find that they somehow reversed directions!
The land surrounding the manor though is encompassing, it spans on as far as the eye can see, holding to it a range of miles. On its premises lies natural wonders and some astounding sites; there is a wooded area here, even a waterfall if you go far enough. . . . As for what else is here, well, one can only wonder.
Those Who Already Reside Within the House

There do exist supernatural entities within the manor, the problem is whether or not they can really be classified as ‘ghosts.’ They aren’t invisible, they cannot make themselves invisible, and the only thing they seem to be capable of that is in line with the myth of ghosts is that they can, and only if they want to, phase through solid walls and objects, otherwise they assume a physical form at all times and look human! There is, however, one catch to that last bit. Despite looking human, the physical appearances they do carry have been subject to chances over the decades, dramatic ones. . . . Living in the manor are eight of these odd souls, and that number is not a mere coincidence. To each of the eight people who shall come to reside in the house, one of these ‘ghosts’ comes to be their personal servant. Moreover, the form they come to take shall entirely depend on the individual to which they are to aid.
The faces they see in these helpers are familiar ones—ones lodged in the most comforting memories they carry, they might look like a dearly departed, or as a family member or beloved friend. . . . Simply though, their faces are recognizable. Although the appearance they might carry is a familiar and comforting one, this does not mean though that the ‘ghostly’ helper will be acting anything like that particular person though~
The helpers are indeed odd, though it is very true that they are able to phase through objects and such, they can be seen taking part in the most human of behaviors; sleeping, eating, etc. Their stories are unknown, only they themselves know the tales of their pasts. . . .
