Introduction

Entry: 121
Date: Nov. 19, 3000
Subject: the end of life as we know it….

It has been three days since the water ran out in all the lakes and ponds nearby, over a month since the crops failed and we began eating the last crumbs of what is left. Outside the research building our escaped human hybrid experiments are no where to be seen as the sea level rises due the sudden two degree rise, from an already elevated four degree change, in Earth’s global temperature. Billions of innocent lives lost due to massive flooding, hundreds of cities are completely submerged, more to come as the ice caps finally melt… Some claim that man can take to the sky but we haven’t the time for such nonsense. Many people now flee to ships but they are only delaying what is to come. Death is upon us.
This is the end for man kind, for planet earth and everything that lives on it. We all have met our end. The earth has turned against us for our sin of over using it. We are doomed to drown……


It wasn’t long after such doom was written of, that it came to pass. The land sank beneath the seas and what was left of its life was gone. All that remained of the green planet was a memory, an endless ocean and a hand full of humans in boats waiting for death. Ironically however it was the human hybrids, which were meant to serve humans, who became the saviors of man by creating a new world on the water that would soon take to the sky above. This new world needed a new identity as it was now reborn; it was named Terramare or Water-sky.

200 years later the quest for dry-land begins

Curiously, Miu watched Annastrianna be taught by Aria whilst continuing to sit atop the wooden railing, her legs kicking back & forth. Every once in a while, she would raise her arms up high & cheer her friends on. But then, it was over--the hour had gone by fast--& Aria went back to her boat.

"How was that? Did you have fun?" Miu asked Annastrianna, her head tilted slightly to the side. The last thing she wanted was for her friend to feel awkward.

Annastrianna tilted her head to one side. "I...guess? I don't know...I'm not used to this much physical exertion...it's a bit much for me...but at least I'm keeping up," she added, brightly. she shook her head, then reached a hand to the back of her neck. She had never been so tired..or so wet from anything other than swimming. "And at least I'm actually learning something."

Aria leaned on the rail of her boat change out to a dark blue dress that went to her knees with a dark leather bodice laced up in the front. It had been years since she had even touched such clothes, though all were designed with fighting in mind, being safe started to make her remember her once great desire for a solid life mate and a make a home to raise her pups. But the promise she had made to Emboss would have to come before that, how would she tell them she was going out for a quick trip. Of course they would want to go with or want her not to go with the threat of Tagien still around.
"I will tell them at dinner, it shouldn't be along trip and if bring along my communicator..."

Jin put the finishing touches on his painting, then hung it up on the wall to dry. He stood back and looked at all three of his pictures, then went right back to his sketchbook. He thought it might have been a little obsessive, but he just couldn't get his mind off of Aria. He hadn't a clue what to draw next, so he just began sketching Aria standing, and would eventually add something as a background. He heard footsteps coming down the hall, so he took down his pictures of Aria and hid them, then closed his sketchbook. The footsteps passed, so he pulled his pictures of Aria back out and hung them on the wall again, then resumed sketching the fourth one. He didn't decide to check his door, but it was still unlocked, and he was unaware of that.

Aria finished setting the table for dinner, noticing Jin wasn't there she turned to go.
"I'll get him." She transformed and quietly trotted towards his room following his secant ears forward and tail up and waving lazily. Outside his door she touched it with her nose and it opened.

Jin looked up quickly... and blushed furiously. Aria was at the door, all his pictures of her were still on the wall, and it was evident that he was sketching another one of her. He couldn't think of anything to say, so he just sat there quietly, a single bead of sweat going down the side of his face. He was thinking up excuses, but no words came out of his mouth. Instead, he just chucked with a sheepish grin on his face, his ears drooping. Obvious sign of embarassment.

Jin facepalmed. "Why didn't I check my door?" He asked himself. "Great...just great...now she's gonna think I'm weird..." He considered not going to get dinner that night, just to avoid any other awkward moments. However, he was pretty hungry, so he slowly got up and went to get some food. He saw Aria on the way, and just looked away, blushing. He got his food and went back to his cabin, then ate it and flopped on his bed, lost in thought. What was he going to do?

Just as Annastrianna mentioned food, Miu's tummy grumbled. "I guess I'm pretty hungry," she said with an embarrassed laugh as she followed after her friend. "Hmm... Maybe she already did, or maybe she & Jin are eating together right now, waiting for us?"

Exiting the place, she entered the kitchen & got her food. All the while, her eyes searched for either Aria or Jin. "Um, I don't see them anywhere. I wonder if they're okay."

Annastrianna looked around, somewhat worriedly. "...They probably already ate...they should be fine...we have no enemies aboard the ship...right?" She knew they both knew how to fight, and how to defend themselves. Nothing could be wrong with them. But still, she worried a little. Aria laid with a paw over her nose on the upper deck letting the dying sun bathe her in a warm gold light, her feelings were jumbled this way and that, after two years of grieving it was a lot to take in at once. She had completely forgotten to tell them that she was going on her short trip in a few days, "I need to think about all this away from everything."
The moon peaked over the horizon thin and waning, soon to be a new moon. Aria lifted her head to watch it rise like every night. She howled long and full of all the emotions that could only be expressed in song.

Jin just laid there on his bed, feeling like an idiot. He had unintentionally let Aria in on his secret, and it looked like things weren't going to turn out well. At least, that's what he assumed. He thought about what he was going to do, or if he was ever going to talk to Aria again. After what felt like forever, he came to a conclusion. He was going to go talk to Aria, clear everything up, and confess his feelings for her.

He got up, gathered as much courage as he could muster, then left his room and went to find Aria. He heard her howling on the upper deck, and went up there to confront her. After getting to the upper deck, he saw Aria howling at the moon. So many mixed emotions... it was difficult to understand. After she had finished, he mustered up all the strength he could, took a deep breath, and finally managed to say, "...Hey, Aria? Can we...talk for a second?"

With a nod, Miu sat down on the nearest post & began to eat quickly. Comically, she almost choked a few times, but the wine she'd gotten helped her through that. Then, in no time, she was done. "Ahh ~ That was very yummy!" she squealed leaned back. Just then, she heard a long howl filled with so many mixed emotions. It was Aria, she knew that without a doubt.

"Aria, I need to tell you something...about earlier..." Jin started. "You see... I kinda.. er..." he choked on his own words. This was much more difficult than he had assumed! "...Well, it started when... you first got on my ship. You reminded me of someone, someone I knew well, and who was very close to me. After a while, I began to get to know you better, and I began to see how much of a good friend you were, and then I... started to develop.. emotions.. for you." Jin finally got it out, and he was relieved. "Those emotions began to grow stronger, and I found myself becoming unable to stop thinking about you... so I drew those pictures. I was waiting until just the right time to tell you..." Jin confessed. Having gotten that out, he let out a sigh of relief. "Well... now you know." After he finished, he looked away a little bit, blushing and rubbing his neck. He was scared to how she would react; that he would get rejected.

Aria listened then looked out at the water. "I understand, feelings of attachment, love and friendship, never truly leave us. We may want them to but they're still within us." She chuckled softly to herself. "I should know. I still grieve for Ridley it seems, it's was his pelt Tagien held up. Your feelings towards me are important and maybe one day i can return them when i come to terms with my loss again."
She looked at him with her luminous eyes, the moon was reflected in them, "Can we remain as friends? I must visit the man who helped save my life and the time we are apart will allow us to settle our feelings. I am trusting you with the others until i return."

"OK...alright. I'll be right here when you return." Jin said. He turned to leave, then added, "But just promise me one thing. You'll come back alive." and with that, Jin walked away. "Well that should do it." Aria put the last crate of food into the storage compartment then replaced the cover. She went back out to prime the boat and say her farewells. Her mind was a tangle of worries, concerns and plans but her body was tingling with excitement at being back out on the open water. She kept rechecking her mental charts as well as the special engine that allowed her boat to fly. A slight wind rustled her beaded hair making it clink together it was time to go.

"I'll be back before you all know it," Aria hugged them each in turn with a peck on the cheek when she reached Jin there was no hesitancy in her as she gave him a friendly hug. "watch over them, Jin, we'll see where we stand when i come back." She kissed his cheek then hopped aboard her boat as it was lowered into the water . With a final wave Aria sped away the sail unfurling as it caught the wind, she touched a button and the boat rose from the water with a familiar jolt. She flew up then was away, carried by the wind headed to the clouds.

It had happened so suddenly &, truthfully, she'd seen no clues that would have lead up to her decision. "Well, she'll be back. Let's just hope everything goes smoothly for her," she murmured before looking at Jin.
