One Day, Fate was unkind. A strange individual representing a Grave and Dark threat from ancient times made a deal with a member in Kiliran's Court, and won him over. No sooner then Five Months after this, an army of both Orcs, and other foul creatures of darkness, struck at Kiliran, and killed the King and Queen in a deadly Coup for the enemy's ally. "First, I wanted to think on your swordsmanship a bit and schedule lessons." He said first. He had to think of something else to say so she wouldn't think that he has a suspicion of her magic. Not yet to say the least. "Secondly, I half wonder on what's it like being a Royal. Like the life of one I mean. Must be both exciting and boring." He gave a light chuckle. He then looked at the stars, watching them. "You like connecting stars together to form a picture?"
Now why did his brain decide for him to ask that???
He then pondered the time Thalia suggested, nightly would be good, or the late afternoon before supper was made and ready. "Hm also the afternoon right after like camp is made would be okay too." He shrugged as he lay on his back, pondering on other things, like his own possible origins and what that Orc said to him about the Northeastern Drow. If he could find them, would he find the answers he is looking for?
"I'll have to observe her more closely for signs of magic." he thought as he fell asleep.
----
The crack of dawn came and Locien was still asleep. He was snoring lightly and had one arm dangling from the bed. He was probably having a dream he probably wasn't. His face didn't tell which. A fly landed on his nose only to be blown away by the snore. The Fly seemed to shake an angry fist before moving on.
"I think it's time you came clean as well. You managed to avoid a powerful demon before we met. Either you cleverly outsmarted it, which is really really hard to do. Or you have some type of Secret Magic, Elemental or otherwise, to stun the beast. I know what it's like to bundle magic up...like my tapping into my...inner rage." Locien backed up a bit looking ashamed he decided to talk to her directly about it.
"Why are you so curious? I don't have to tell you everything," she said defensively. She took in a deep breath and closed her eyes. She felt herself starting to get annoyed, which wasn't exactly the best thing for her at the moment. He'll probably still bother me if I don't tell him anything and I can't think of a lie right now. I might as well tell him the truth so he doesn't say anything to anyone.
"I just have a mastery of Lightening and my body gets worked up and weaken a little each time after I use it. I overdid it yesterday, as I didn't really get to think of how much I was going to use when the bandit went to slit my throat. It is kind of hard to control Lightening if I feel conflicted like anger or scare. I will be fine and don't tell anyone about my mastery. Now will you stop overreacting before I become anymore annoyed?" she questioned. She buried her face into her pillow as another sigh escaped her lips. The last thing she had wanted to do was tell him.
The song almost went as follows if translated, "Pale as freshly fallen snow the Pale One, was born to this world we've come to know, back when the world was still young. When darkness fell, Brave Zaldir took up his garb. Armor as white as his skin, so none may pierce him, be blade or barb. Zaldir slew all who stood before him, who would dare lay a hand, on Fair Nariel, The Last Queen of the Elvahni, His love in his homeland."
Locien sighed as he rubbed his head. "Whew, good, that's better. I feel much better." He said in a calm state.
"I am sorry I became annoyed with you. I just don't like talking about my magic," she murmured. Thalia slowly stood and opened the window in the room. She climbed out the window as she just went to sit outside the window on the roof. Her eyes took in the sky with its many clouds. The sun felt warm against her skin in the cool morning air.
Sighing he headed out of his room to grab some breakfast. He had a lot to think about with what he knew and what he revealed to her.
Several Hours later the Capitol of the Kingdom of Serinkas was in full view of the group. Marek sighed as he walked up to the lead. "Welcome to Serinkas Ladies and Gentle elves. No need to thank me for the short cut." Locien silently rolled his eyes and looked to Cildur for the next move.
"Marek, Locien, Find a suitable place near the palace to rest at. I have to figure it all out on how to approach the Monarch of this realm." Cildur stated.
Locien sighed Tiredly as he walked near the inn and rested by a tree. He felt unsure what to do next aside from get I to the Inn and wait. He could try to teach Thalia how to fight with a sword, but he felt that she was still annoyed at his prying of her darkest secret.
All that didn't matter this moment. Silently he slumped onto the grass in a sitting position almost as if the entire walk from the village to the capital really wore him out. He turns to look at Thalia and smiled almost timidly and shyly.
"You probably already know this, but your eyes are a beautiful color. I wonder who in your family had eyes likes yours," she said as she tried to think of a light subject to talk about. She placed her hands above her tattoo as she laced her fingers together. Thalia softly began to hum the song Locien had sung that morning.
He sighed in a slight chuckle. His face suddenly turned to shock and embarrassment as she spoke of his eyes and then spoke of his family. Not his Foster father, his biological family. She began to hum his song he sang. He sighed as he listened to it. "The Song of the Pale One. Zaldir, who gave his love to Nariel, Queen of the Elvahn, the Elven race that was United, during a Great War against the Demonic Race."
He sighed, hoping he didn't have to explain how it is also a tragic tale.
She grinned slightly at his reaction to her compliment. She wondered why he sighed when he listened to her hum the song, but she pushed the thought away. "I would say you aren't use to compliments Locien Kestal," Thalia said as a soft laugh escaped her lips.
"Did Zaldir and Nariel marry? Or was she already married since she was Queen? Did she love him back? Oh and how long was the war for?" she questioned. She didn't remember much about learning of the Pale One. She reched out and tucked a strain of Locien's hair behind his ear. "Hmm, Cildur is not a Queen, but here we are trying to get allies to fight a great evil, kind of reminds me of the Pale One's story," she added with a shrug.
He looked at her with a silent stare to ponder the best way. He took a deep breath before talking. "They both loved each other immensely. However, as a warrior and a former servant, Zaldir felt unworthy of marrying her, knowing that society expected her to marry a high born noble. Having what Ildhrenion calls Albinism did not help him either. The war that Zaldir deeply involved himself in was what some call the finale of a war that lasted nearly the whole Age. Almost a thousand years at least. Zaldir got involved in the last hundred, and the entire war ended when he reached his first century. But it came at a cost this victory."
Locien swallowed hard. "Nariel was a warrior Queen, and helped to end the war, but she sustained very heavy wounds." He paused ever silently as if the next part somehow felt bad. "The song's last verse, is Nariel dying in Zaldir's arms. A bit of Zaldir died with her, for even though he did marry and start a clan and attempted to make a Drow Elven Society in the northeast with other Drow after the division, his love for Nariel never faded. Which is why I believe Corellon let him rejoin her in the afterlife."
He gave a silent grin. "It's all a bit tragic really isn't it?"
"Can I play with your hair? It is a bit boring waiting," she said. Her eyes wandered up as she watched a small white butterfly fly towards them. When it landed on her nose her eyes widen and she did her best to look at it. She had to hold in her laugh as she did not want it to go away just yet. The small wings were simple and pretty.
