Cynn

Goddess of Youth, Healing and Medicine.

a character in “The Gods: The Beginning”, originally authored by RawkFist, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

ImageImageGod Name: Cynn.

Title: Goddess of Youth, Healing and Medicine.

Gender: Female.

Alignment: Good.

God Appearance: Being the God of Youth, she takes on the appearance of a young girl (around 6-10), one of an indescribably unusual beauty. Her dark brown hair is much darker than her olive complexion, causing her red-brown eyes to stand out above the rest of her features. Her hair is short, only reaching down to her neck, with a few larger strands at the front, which she usually uses to keep a hold of beads, charms and other things. She has naturally rosy cheeks, which makes it harder to tell when she is flustered, and she's unusually thankful for that. In height, she stands at around 4'2" and in weight, she is around 48-50lbs.

Personality: Cynn is a very well-mannered girl, wise beyond her years but still with a lot to learn about life and all of its wonders. Naturally, she is a curious little one who wishes only for the freedom of herself along with her followers and worshipers. She is quite modest, and will rarely ever compliment herself, always striving to be better, reaching for goals thought impossible by most. She takes an interest in medicine, making it her goal to help and cure people who suffer from diseases, common colds and other things that weaken them. With this, you can assume that she is generally quite a helpful and selfless person, who puts others before herself and always values other people's opinions.

She is a soft-spoken person who is unusually cool-headed for a girl of her apparent age, which brings me back to the 'wise beyond her years' thing. At times she won't hesitate to cuff you 'round the back of the head, but aside from that violence is not an option to her. She is fair and understanding, a sort of go-to girl for problems and such. While she isn't particularly great at giving helpful advice, she'll sure as Hell try her best. She puts 100% effort into everything she does, being optimistic and quirky at all times.

ImageImageOpinion of mortals: Seeing as Cynn does live to provide medicine and other discoveries to her people, she regards mortals quite highly and sees them as her top priority. Despite this, they're sort of like mini experiments for her. She needs them for certain tests, for her medicine and cures for ailments. Without her mortal 'guinea pigs', she would know nothing about the human kind, the ways their bodies react to things and their natural behaviour. She respects them as much as she would respect a fellow God but still sees humans as nothing more than an experiment.

God’s Domain: Her home lies deep within the forests of Zaelyn. As of right now, she lays wherever she drops and has no issues with sleeping high on the branches of oak trees. As much as she doesn't mind it, she hopes that one day she can build a cottage of some sort, located right in the centre of the dense woodland. Preferably a large one, surrounded by trees, in the shade, where plants and herbs will be able to grow naturally around her. She will rarely ever move from the centre of the woodland, and figures that if she plans to stay there she might as well sleep in style.

Image
Avatar Name: Xander.

Avatar Appearance: Few people have ever seen Xander's true face, as it is almost always covered up by a white mask with purple markings and two large round eye holes. His eyes are the colour of deep pools of water, his complexion fair and with a shock of black hair atop of his head. His eyes give away the emotion that is hidden in his face by the mask. Being fairly slender, he stands at a height of 6'0" with a weight of 130lbs.

Personality: As a whole, Xander can appear to be a brooding male, speaking in a monotonous voice that holds little emotion, but as a leader his skills far exceed that of others. He stood out to Cynn more than anyone else for his ability to take charge. He is trustworthy, loyal and an honest, decent worker, who lives to defend the name of his Goddess, as well as handling the stress of running the entire kingdom. He can be helpful at times but more often than not, his impatience and anger get the better of him, causing him to lash out, though he is more verbally violent than physically violent. In terms of education, he is an extremely intelligent and talented tactician, warrior and medical scientist.

Magic Abilities: Immunity to diseases, common colds and flus.

ImageHero: Jeeil.

Rank/Reason: TBA.

Personality: TBA.

Image Name of Kingdom/Empire: Zaelyn.

Terrain preference: Meadows, fields, woodlands, small villages and places like that.

Capital: Sajik.

Major Cities & Areas:
Seek - land of merchants, traders and thieves.
Zame - land of the rich and wealthy.
Elyn - land of the middle-class.
Zae - land of the poor and unhealthy.
The 'outside' - land not covered by villages, towns or cities.

Society:
People - the general demeanour of Cynn and Xander's people is calm-headed, loyal to their Goddess and fairly bright (meaning intelligent). The same cannot be said for people of the lower-class, who lack money and live in such terrible conditions that they are more vulnerable to disease and illness, as they are the more savage of those who inhabit Zaelyn. They are pretty much uncivilised and primitive, resorting to slaughtering their own kind in order to gain access to food, water and shelter. They reject the help of Cynn's medicine as they refuse to believe in her, her ways and her ability to cure diseases. The upper and middle classes are completely opposite, as stated above. Merchants and traders worship her and pray to her, happily going alone with the idea of a Goddess as it is she who lead them to living a rich and healthy lifestyle.
Economy - Zaelyn as a whole is an extremely wealthy country, due to the medicine they create and sell to other kingdoms in return for rewards such as money, supplies and support. Not all the money is spread throughout the kingdom, as you can tell by Zae, the land of the lower-class citizens. The economy is stable and well protected by a decent sized army, but it doesn't seem like enough compared to all the others who call themselves Cynn's enemies.
Politics - Xander may not seem like the friendliest person in the world but when it comes to politics, he can be quite slippery and persuasive, managing to gain the trust of certain kingdoms as he trades supplies for protection and support.

So begins...

ImageCynn knew that there was more to this dark abyss, more than the emptiness and loneliness that she felt whilst surrounded by it. Her body and mind alike yearned to explore, curiosity corrupting every thought that slipped into her mind. A moment passed with the realisation that she could see more, hear more, feel more. Her senses were springing into the action, bringing forth a new light that shone down on her as her eyelids slowly peeled themselves open. She squinted at the unfamiliar feeling of sun on her eyes, and the heat it brought down with it. A few more moments passed and she was able to open her eyes fully, staring up in wonder at the calm blue sky. Her gaze shifted around, setting her sights upon something large, coloured quite beautifully in shades of brown with a head of green.

She wanted to move, to free herself from the paralysis and just... move. The determination she felt drove her forward, until she was focussing so hard on her limbs that she felt a sort of pain in her temple, causing her to wince slightly. Out of pure instinct, her arm attempted to move in the direction of this pain, and with enough strength she was able to do so. Her hand found the soft skin of her forehead and her eyes widened with delight, despite her headache still remaining. The feeling of being about to touch, to feel and at long last to have the ability to move. It was amazing.

Slowly and warily, she propped herself up onto her elbows, before sitting up completely. She sighed out of relief as noticed that sitting and looking at this angle gave her a much better view of her surroundings. Again, the area she had awoken in was dark, especially in the far out spaces, but much lighter than the darkness she'd first experienced. She was actually surrounded by the mysteriously large green and brown things, whilst being sat on ground much similar to the brown at the base of the things poking from the ground. It was not completely flat as she sat on a sloped surface, facing downwards. She heard nothing, for there was nothing around her to make noise.

She frowned some, before looking down at the thing attached to her body, short but fairly slim looking things of similar colour to the rest of her body. She lifted one up high and her frown faded. Just like her arms, only shaped a little differently. Her feet were uncovered, unlike the rest of her body which was clothed in a small creamy-brown dress of sorts, tattered around the edges and fairly dirty from lying on the ground. She bent her knees, straightened her legs out, bent her knees, straightened her legs out again, and so on and so forth, until she'd become quite accustom to the feeling of these things. Using her hands for support, she lifted herself up so that she could stand on them. It took a moment, but she'd mastered it after a few moments. With a quirky smile, she began her journey forward into the unknown world of the living.

She walked and walked and walked until she could feel dull pains beginning to form in the soles of her feet. She pushed forward despite this, and decided only to rest when she'd found a more suitable area. At long last she came to a small stream, and with an excited grin she picked up her pace until she was right at the edge of the land, her toes merely inches from the water. It was such a beautiful thing to see, the way the water flowed down, not stopping for even a fraction of a second. Regardless of her curiosity, she decided it would be best to leave well enough alone, and perhaps just to move on.

Caelum drifted towards the ground and began hovering slightly over it, still in the form of air. He felt no reason to take a solid shape, so he didn't. He had noticed the Sky take a violent turn for a few moments, but didn't much of it. He wasn't going to pacify the sky each time it decided to lash out. Caelum was the master of the sky, not its babysitter.

Caelum stopped randomly and decided that he was bored, that he no longer wanted to simply fly. He wanted to do something else, something more exciting. That's when he decided to create his first creatures. His very first creature was a winged and ferocious animal. The creature was a giant bird with blue feathers. Lightning radiated through its body and wind seemed to bend around it. It was a magnificent creature, one that Caelum decided to mount.

Caelum took a solid form once more, albeit more child-like. He didn't want to force the thunderbird, as he named it, to carry too much weight. "Tonavem," Caelum named the female thunderbird by this. Tonavem understood what her creator meant for the words to mean, and accepted the name as her own.

"Craaack!" Tonavem's screech sounded that she would fly and Caelum understood. The bird flew high and into the sky, taking Caelum to approximately 19,000 ft above ground. Caelum signaled for the bird to stop and it did. The location he was at seemed to be suitable for creation, and create he did. He made creatures similar to him and the bird: the Alatum. They had humanoid bodies and gargantuan wings. They were born through the wind, and could command it, to a lesser extent than Caelum could of course. Caelum repeated the process of creating Alatum and eventually ended up with hundreds of mortals under his command. They each hovered in the air with their wings fluttering heavily. They had not been born in the bodies of infants nor with the mind of infants, they were born with the bodies and minds of adults. In exchange for this, the first generation would have a lifespan doubling that of the second.

The beings each were confused at first for their sudden existence, but their attention was soon focused on the being which seemed to radiate power. They felt joy to be alive, but questions were forming in their minds. Anarchy was about to breakout, but Caelum calmed them. "My name is Caelum, I am the God of the Sky and Wind." Caelum let this sink in, then continued, "I am your creator." This last part was the one that eased the panic in the hearts of the beings. They were safe, for now at least.

One of the female Alatum flew up and met her so called 'god', "How do we know you're who you say?" She was challenging Caelum's claim. Caelum did not get angered, instead, he made the wind pick up around the group. The wind was loud and powerful enough to rip a mortal apart limb from limb. This display of power was to show that Caelum was not a liar. Eventually, he stopped the wind from acting so powerful and begun speaking again, "You don't, but it is your choice to believe whether or not I am who I say I am, Jeanne. Caelum had created the beings with them knowing their names. Jeanne was shocked to see that the God in front of him was indeed a god, for he knew her name when no others did.

Caelum decided that he liked that mortal and that he would keep an eye on her, but he had more important matters to deal with at the moment. The problem of having no land in the sky for example. The Alatum could fly for their whole lives, but they could not grow plants nor heard animals without ground. Caelum fixed this problem by ripping a mountain off of the ground and turning it upside down, then pulling it into the sky under the Alatum. He then used some of his energy to create an eternal wind which would keep the landmass in the sky. He then spent energy creating life on it, almost exactly like the life he had seen on the ground, exempting the animals that hunted. There were now trees, grass, fruits, bushes, and other life on the landmass. "This land is now yours to live off of. Work together to build a civilization and prosper. There are flightless creatures below this land which you can bring up here, but be wary, for I do not control what is created on the ground. Now go, and build on this land." The display of godly power had tired him slightly, but he still had quite a bit of energy left.

Tonavem, the thunderbird, flew over to Jeanne with Caelum still on it. Caelum touched Jeanne's forehead and established a godly connection with her, making her his Avatar. "Jeanne, you are now my Avatar, you are now my eyes and ears among my people. Should you wish to speak to me, simply will to do so and I shall hear you. Please do however, be careful with the power I am granting you." She could now command the wind and the Sky better than her fellow Alatum did, for she now had a direct connection to her god. Jeanne felt the power surge through her and knew what she had to do. Jeanne went to where the Alatum had grouped around and began bringing order to them. They would have to be organized or they would fall quickly.

Caelum left the Alatum to themselves and steered the bird under the clouds so he could survey the ground. The two flew for a while before coming across what appeared to be a creature similar to Caelum near a stream of... water. Yes, it was called water. He wasn't sure how he knew this, but he knew it nonetheless. He also knew that Tonavem wouldn't fare well when close to water, yet he still didn't know how he knew this. He just did. Caelum signaled for Tonavem to leave and simply jumped off the bird.

He didn't hit the ground, he hovered inches off the ground instead. Hitting the ground wouldn't have killed him, not from such a short distance, but it still would have hurt quite a bit. Even gods felt pain. Although some felt it more than others. The bird had flown away in the sky and simply wandered, for it had nothing to do. It's creator had not made any other of its kind nor any other creatures to inhabit the sky.

Caelum had landed soundlessly a few feet away from the girl, smiling through the fall of course. Being alive was very much a fun experience, it was much better than being eternally conscious and unable to do anything. That was boring. He stopped mulling on such thoughts and turned to face the girl. "Hello," He wasn't sure what to say but gained confidence in a few seconds. "I'm Caelum, the god of the Sky and Wind, who are you?" He mused that the question was friendly enough, although he wasn't very much sure on how to be sociable. This was, after all, his first interaction with a creature that wasn't made by him.

"Exploration"

The young god sat upon the rocks amongst the rising water. The sound of the falls drowned out all sounds. After his moment of peace of mind. He suddenly stood and opened his eyes. After a moment of meditation and though, the young god came to the conclusion, he must have a purpose. The next step was to explore and discover his place in existence. The God then bent his knees as he prepared to jump. What would happen next was unexpected. Instead of moving forward he darted forward. Overshooting the newly made gorges. The young god flailed his arms about as he landed with a thud onto the ground. He slowly stood and shook his head.

He was confused at first, over what had occurred. He came to realize what occurred was because of him. Testing himself he made another great leap. This time he controlled his landing, and with a smile leapt again. Again and again, he was hopping about the land. He felt free. Though soon he grew dissatisfied with just these leaps and bounds. He wanted to go higher, something drove him to reach higher. Exerting the strength within his legs, he forced the earth to move aside as he launched into the air. The air, the wind, all of it was calming. The clouds, the sky, it was all beautiful the higher he rose.

After a moment of joy, he was unsettled. He began to fall, nay plummet back to the earth. The young god worried about his next actions. It would seem history was to repeat itself, as he crashed into the ground. Leaving a small crater, the young god slowly stood. He felt numb all over his body. He soon began to dislike falling, growing some what frustrated over the fact the earth harms him so. He had no knowledge on how to rectify this problem. Still the urge to go higher remained, but the risk of slamming into the ground forced hesitation.

He decided the rewards outweighed the risks. The young god exited the crater. He would try one more time. Building up strength underneath him he jumped again. This time higher and farther. It was almost like flying. It was then the idea hit him. He needs to fly to avoid falling. Yet how does one fly? Falling once again, flailing about like a leaf in the wind. It was then he remembered... the wind. The Wind seems to float about the air, there must be some way for him to harness this? Was there? The ground was fast approaching. He had to do something quick. Yet, any options were quickly clouded by doubt and then frustration. Eventually his frustration turned into anger. Anger sparked his power, as electricity sparked and surged across his body. Soon the wind grew notably aggressive around him.

It was when he neared the earth that he tossed his hands down in efforts to stop himself. As soon as he did the wind was forced to break his fall. The force of the wind was so great, it propelled him back in midair. He noticed this. For some reason he has even greater power. He smiled again, as he became aware of his manipulation over the wind. Now he can't be harmed when he falls, he was overjoyed. In an expression of his happiness, he unwittingly released a large amount of power. Electricity surged about his body and was released from his palms in a large stream. The lightning rocketed him through the air with speed unimaginable. Yet, it had a drawback, with great speed, maneuverability became incredibly difficult to maintain. Unable to dodge or move, the young god slammed into a nearby forest. Crashing through branches and trunks with great ferocity. He would soon make an awkward entrance upon two, unsuspecting gods.

From the commotion from the nearby woods; it would give off the assumption that something destructive was on it's way. That was until the image of a naked man came thrashing out of the trees. He landed into the ground as his body slid past them unharmed. His momentum broken by a nearby tree. The man seemed to be scuffed, bruised, and dirtied. He felt a great pain across his body. He first attended the pain to his head, as he rubbed to soothe it. He wasn't quite sure what had happened, but apparently there was more to his power. Then the young god lifted his head to see two beings. One was a young man, like himself but with blue hair. The other a small girl. He was surprised to find beings that looked relatively like him. Recalling the image he saw in the water moments ago. He slowly stood as he felt his body ache. Almost as if in defiance of him moving. The young god didn't fancy the pain, but he was willing to ignore it.

Another detail caught his eyes, these gods wore clothing. Something he was without. He didn't much care he was nude, but the clothing interested him. It gave them a much more defined look. He wanted something like that for himself. Soon garments appeared upon his body. The young god felt the sensation of the fabric touching his skin. It was an odd feeling but not unpleasant. He then smiled again, "Does this life never cease to amaze me?" He spoke barely above a whisper. After his long gaze at his clothing, his eyes returned to the other beings. He stood apart from them and hardly made any motions to move closer. Instead he spoke, So I see I am not the only creature of it's kind in this world, am I?" The man spoke in a soft tone. He only stood there to observe these people. He felt curious yet cautious about these new acquaintances. He didn't know what to expect.

Time had passed. How much time, Ulmo did not truly know. Time didn't really seem to matter to him as he worked to fill the Sea with life to match and even, in his view, surpass the life he had seen on dry land. The Beast-God, Ragon, had been particularly helpful in creating the predators that inhabited his real. It was fitting, in his view, to have fierce beasts to live beneath the Sea. They kept the numbers of the smaller creatures in check and the supply of prey kept their own numbers in check. Balance.

Of course, the world had many secrets that even he did not know of. There was the realm connected to the physical realm. The physical realm was the realm of mortals. What this word meant, he did not yet know, but he envisioned beings unable to change the world by their own will, but still shape great things with their bare hands. That was what he imagined. The mortal realm was stagnant. It stayed the way it was long after the gods were finished, but in the Realm of the Gods, only will mattered. Ulmo could shape anything simply by willing it, but he needed to maintain it with a portion of his attention, always, something he was finding easier and easier to do as time went on.

He had shared his discovery with the others, of course. They each claimed their own portion as the Realm of infinite, but together, they had created their own meeting place, The Hall of the Gods It was a magnificent place and in its center sat their thrones. Ulmo himself had carved a throne of silver and blue and white marbel, covering it with flora from the Sea which could live on dry land. That was not where they were meeting, though. Rather, in celebation of their efforts, the Gods had gathered together to celebrate with a feast. In a great feasting hall, the gods gathered to celebrate their works and Ulmo sat in his place of honor with a proud smile.

"Our labors are almost at an end, my bretheren. Let us feast, drink, and be merry," he announced, surveying the faces of the gods who had gathered together to celebrate.

"The Feast"

Here he was in the Hall of the Immortals, having asked to partake in food and drink. Form the time he met Caelum and Cynn, he has been rather estranged from the Gods. For the most time Baraku has been testing his power. Ever since he first discovered it, he has been anxious to learn more from it. So far he knows he controls the storms over the Realm of Man. A mighty power indeed. Not only that, he can use aspects of the storm. Such as the blinding light and ferocious energy of the lightning bolt. The large, booming sound of thunder. The falling water from the clouds, known as rain. Yet there was more to it.

Not only had he power over storms, but something more dangerous as well. He has forced the winds to move so fiercely they've taken away whole trees and structures. Tornadoes. Like his sister, he has been able to part the earth, albeit it was way too destructive. An Earthquake. Apparently he can control some rather disastrous forces. Therefor a God of Disaster. While pleased over his powers, something just felt empty within him. While he has aware of his growing powers, the times have been left to him, rather lonely.

He has hardly spoken with any of the other Gods. Though some seemed upset over his destruction. He never meant to hurt anyone, he didn't even know the extent of what he could do. Some how he felt a bit excluded from the others. Any other times he's spoken with them, it's been short, simple conversations. So far he has given any of the Gods, real reasons to hate or fear him. Though some may be wary. He's just been finding his way into the world. So far he has been coming closer to that goal. So far he has found a beautiful realm to call his home. Reminiscent of his first days, the place was green and filled with waterfalls. It was as close to a paradise as he could surmise. Yet in this peaceful realm he has made grand structures. Places of meditation and training. He so did enjoy training.

Yet the Storm God has yet to create a race. He felt a bit behind his brothers and sisters. Feeling he may have been too idle. Even thinking of the subject, Baraku gains the strange feeling that something more is behind his thoughts. Neither he nor any of the other gods have seen the demon within him. Yet The Storm God feels a gnawing presence in the back of his mind. Something trying desperately to direct him in some way. Baraku has yet to tap into this. So far he sat at the table, minding his own business. There was food, and he ate, though not with the same voraciousness as Braun. Instead he ate more delicately, yet not without vigor of his own. He quickly chewed and softly swallowed. He decided to remain, viewing the other Gods. Seeing more of the kind of people they are. Something Baraku has some interest.

Ulmo

Ulmo frowned slightly, noticing Tywin slip away into a room after Sargon and Kaira. He felt for Saragon. To have your creations attempt to wipe out one another was a feeling he could not even begin to comprehend. The Merpeople which he and Niueis created lived in harmony with the Sea. True, they were small in number, but they were long-lived and their cities were something to behold. However, now he decided to check on a creation that each and every god had a hand in.

He left the feasting hall and entered the Throne Room. There, he found a pool of water that allowed the gods to view the Mortal Realm. On land, the gods had created the apex of their creations: Mortal Men. They had each put a part of themselves in these creatures, crafting them in the image of most of the gods save Karkothi and Strach. What Ulmo saw, however, did not please him. The world was in turmoil and there were new gods among them!

Nex

"Good, Cain. Very good. You have wrested control of your tribe from your brother. You have proven your strength and power," Nex announced, dressed in black, red, and golden armor. Before him, the human inhabitants of the desert bowed to him with his chosen the only one standing. Cain glared at him from behind his hood.

"I had to kill half my tribe on my own, including my own brother. You forbade my supporters from helping me. You refused to help me yourself! Why?!" he hissed. Nex glared at his chosen and had half a mind to smack him before chuckling. He allowed himself to laugh for a full minute until his chosen interrupted him.

"Answer me!"

"You would do well to remember that a god does not take orders from his follower," Nex told him coldly, causing a little fear to run down Cain's spine. He continued, "I gave you a portion of my own power. I wanted to see if it was a good investment. You did not disappoint. Not at all. I will be the God of Men and you will be their King."

Ulmo

Ulmo reached out with his mind, to every deity, known or unknown. He was furious.

"What is the meaning of this! We agreed to leave mortal men alone!"

Kaira

Kaira rushed to Tywin, cradling his body in her arms. A cold realisation swept over her. The Gods were just as vulnerable as their mortal creations. They were not immune to the toils of life. They could kill and be killed. She brushed her hand across his temple, all thoughts of hatred and rifts gone. Tywin was dying, "This is not the only way brother," she brushed a stray lock away, "we can change as much as the mortals can change."

Tywin felt cold. She would not sit by idly and let Mortum lay claim to Tywin's soul. She looked to Sargon, "Sargon, go and seek Cynn, bring her here." She looked back to Tywin. She knew his chances of living were slim, near non-existant if she was being honest, but she refused to abandon hope. If anyone would save Tywin now, it would be Cynn. "Go!" She yelled to Sargon, his lack of activity bothering her greatly.

She cradled Tywin's head in the crook of her arm, trying her best to stem the blood flowing from his wound. "Please do not die brother." She repeated her whisper like a mantra, her way of clinging to a fragile hope until Sargon and Cynn returned.

The Age of Avatars and Mortals

In which Avatars are chosen by the Gods to represent them to the mortal races and guide their followers' kingdoms.

Nex and Cain's punishment for their transgression was lenient, given the circumstances. As selfish and arrogant as the god was, Nex had revealed a new innovation which could be used by the gods to guide and protect their mortal followers without worrying about the threat of destruction inherent in the divinities directly interfering with mortals: the Avatar. The Avatar was an unique being: not quite divine, but not quite mortal either. He or she was connected to their patron deity in a way no mortal could hope to comprehend, gifted with divine power, knowledge, and wisdom. The Avatars were the few mortals who could travel to the Realm of the Gods at will. This innovation went far beyond what Nex had originally envisioned. The Avatar was not just a tool for a deity to enforce his or her will upon their followers, he or she was their advocate. Through them, the gods learned more about their own creations.

Thus, Nex and Cain were sentenced to a slumber that lasted until every deity had chosen his or her own Avatar or chose not to select one. Nex's followers, however, did not forget their god or their semi-divine leader. Nex's teachings were remembered and spread throughout the humans who made their home in the Shifting Desert. Thus, when Cain returned and proved his claim of kingship and identity as the Avatar of Nex by conquering the Qarthian Tribes.

The Gods were not untouched by Time, however. Despite mortal perceptions of the agelessness of the gods, the deities knew times of great joy and great. The birth of Nigriv and Valiance were occasions of great joy for the gods, but the death and fading away of their siblings took its toll. Tywin's death in particular was a shock to the gods. He had seemed so strong, but his mental state was unstable. Braun himself had taken charge of Tywin's funeral and like all the acts of the God of Strength and Brotherhood, it was immortalized in song both in the Realm of the Gods and in the Realm of Men.

Caspian

Atalantae... Truly, in Caspian's opinion, it was the greatest city in the world. It lacked the famous Academy at Icharus, it was nowhere near as opulent as Gela, and the dour grimness of Jukta, but it remained the largest and greatest of the cities of the Avuvians. Only the walls of Jukta rivaled the great concentric fortifications of Atalantae. Though all Avuvian cities were trade hubs, no other city had the sheer quantity and quality of goods pouring into it as Atalantae. Today, only he remembered its humble beginnings.

He was born a fisherman like his father and his father before him all the way back to the time Ulmo first made himself known to the mortal men who were drawn to the Sea. Today, his 16th birthday, was the day he would finally be allowed to take his father's ship out to Sea on his own.

"Son, please be careful," his mother warned him worriedly, "Remember the first thing Lord Ulmo revealed to us: Neither the Sea's nor his moods are fixed. The Sea can turn violent when you least expect it."

"Do not worry, Mother. I will be fine," he told her in a placating tone, the type that young men used when they wanted their parents reminded them of a piece of wisdom that they had heard countless times before. His mother sighed even as his father spoke, placing a big, callused hand on his shoulder.

"Do not sail beyond sight of land, Caspian. You do not know what it is to be on the open Sea."

"I won't. I promise," he told them.

Of course, he did not keep his promise. The wind was behind his back and the Sea air was in his lungs. The Sun was shining without a cloud ins sight. He cast his nets in the shallows, but found nothing. So, he sailed further and further, recasting his nets as he did so until, finally, he was indeed out of sight from land and had nothing to show for it. He grimaced and cursed and did not notice how the sky darkened as the day went on until, finally, it was as though the sky was thrust open as water poured from above and the waves shook and crashed against his vessel. He plunged put all his strength into maintaining course with his rudder, desperately sailing back to whence he came. Lightning flashed and he cursed at Ulmo.

"Damn you, I will not die like this! I'm going home and there's nothing you can do to stop me!" he roared. Almost in answer, a great wave crashed against his boat and he cried out in fear. He tried to drain his vessel with a bucket, but failed. His boat fell apart and he sank into the abyss.

It was beautiful he had noticed, in a grim sort of way. Despite his pride, he prayed to Ulmo to care for his parents and that they would somehow know that he was sorry for disobeying them. In that instant, he water around him seemed to glow in an ethereal blue and silver light. "Am I dead?" he asked himself. His lungs no longer burned from the salt water filling them. Then, he saw him. He was like a man, but more than a man. His hair was an unnatural blue color and his blue and silver robe did not seem wet, though they were both submerged in the Sea. In fact, he did not seem to be swimming at all. He just moved, as though he was simply willing it.

"You are a proud young man," the man said and his words seemed to acho around him, like the song of a whale and it was then Caspian recognized him, his eyes daring to the trident he carried.

"Are you here to lead me to the Land of the Dead, Lord Ulmo. Or are you here to punish me?" he asked, trying to conceal his fear. The god simply smiled.

"Neither. Normally, I do not rescue foolish boys who chose to test the Sea, but I see something special in you. You have a hidden strength beyond most mortals," the god told him. Then, Ulmo approached him and pressed their foreheads together as light shined around them and Caspian almost screamed at the multitude of sensations he felt. He felt far older than his 16 years and far more powerful. He gasped as Ulmo pulled away.

"We are bonded forever," the Sea God told him, "Come. Return to our people. You are my gift to them, my Avatar."

Without knowing how he was able to, Caspian willed the water around him to propel him forward. Caspian smiled and laughed in euphoria, not questioning what this meant, simply reveling in it. He almost didn't here Ulmo's words in his mind.

"Good luck, Caspian."

The Avatar of Ulmo smiled from his place in the highest part of Atalante at the top of the highest tower of the Citadel. He had not known what it meant then, but he did not regret it now, even as he mourned the friends and family he watched grow old and die. He knew better than most that death wasn't the end.

Karkorthi

It wasn't that she thought herself above the others, but Karkorthi had quietly withdrawn into her realm in the eons to follow Nex's fall. When she crafted at all, she released simple, hidden things that more than likely escaped the notice of her siblings entirely. When the peoples of the races of the other Gods started scrambling after the little treasures in her rock, she bid them not hollow carelessly. Those that did not listen, who let their greed outweigh their caution and respect, were met with those hidden terrors.

For the most part, she sat in her cave and lived apart from the passion and the rage that routinely shook Ulmo's court; attending only when directly invited, and even then mostly just reclining on her throne with the occasional wise word of neutrality.

But she wasn't entirely detatched from Ashariel. When craftsmen began to emerge out of the primal tribesmen to hew stone into building and statue, she was delighted at the creativity. When miners carved niche shrines to Her in their lonely tunnels and prayed for their safety with bawdy working songs, she laughed (Now wouldn't THAT sound strike her siblings dead with shock that she was capable of humor!).

Patiently and slowly, her worshipers grew by word of mouth and simple layman need to call to the soil and mountain for succor. Disenchanted members of the other Gods' races gathered in Her mountains and carved for themselves great stone cities of beauty and function. Stone masons flocked to these high-quality quarries and made Her temples things of lasting beauty even while their craft began bringing coin and trade to her high rocky roads.

As always when these things happen, there were those who attempted to corrupt Her ideals. Especially as Humankind evolved and their ever-present greed for the shiny and valuable turned their eyes to the treasures she offered. It caused her no end of simmering resentment when -they- came to her fledgling kingdom.

And so, rather than suffer their slow destruction of what she had watched so carefully grow, Karkorthi stirred from her darkness and reached out.

They were such small things, really. A leftover from her bargain with Ragon. They lived in her ravines and craggy foothills, embraced in snug earthen burrows and sunning themselves as if they were one with the rocks they lounged on. They had repaid her shelter with care for every generation that passed - carving stones with sand and talon until great spires were riddled with holes that sang to her in the wind.

She had mostly left them alone, as she had done everything else. But when the cities began arriving, a surprising thing happened. They had forgone the Beast God's primal bloodlust and bid peacefully to be allowed to worship at Her temples and live in Her cities. Ragon had dismissed them as weak and unfit. Their numbers dwindled in slow, agonizing patterns. It only made them all the more reverent of their second Creator, and with every tribal song and newhatched heart had they begged her to spare them.

Ebis'en had been Touched by the Goddess in his very egg. It'd been slate grey, and hard as a stone - unheard of in the soft-shelled clutch of brothers. When he hatched, he was as dark grey as the granite of the mountains, and grew into adulthood as a strange creature by the measure of all who came to know him.

When he first arrived in the city and approached temple elders quietly claiming to hear Karkorthi's will, he was all but stoned for heresy. That didn't last long. Karkorthi buried the laughing priests in their own stone towers with an angry quake. It took years longer, but it couldn't be denied Ebis'en was Her Avatar. His reptilian people rejoiced that She might be earing their pleas, after all, and the other myriad races praised that She saw them all as fit for her protection and guidance.

Ebis'en settled stoicly into his responsibilities on Ashariel, and in the Realm of Gods, Karkorthi finally stirred and made her presence known in the great Halls of her siblings.

Sylvanas

Valiance bowed "May I?"

"Come" Sylvanas said gesturing with her finger, she strutted past Valiance without a second thought, making her way out of Throne Room. After a few minutes of walking through corridors, she came to the Training Room; a simple barren and empty room in which the gods and goddess would train with one another. This room was unique however, as it would mold and shape itself to the desired setting the trainees wished.

Sylvanas smiled, as the room began to shift and mold, a heavily forested grove birthed into being. She reached over her shoulders, gripping the hilts of her blades. With a graceful and quick pull, they were released from their sheaths, and with a quick twirl of her wrist the spun around to mimic her turn to face Valiance.

"I do hope your ready dear cousin" Sylvanas said lowering the tips of her swords. Her grace mirrored that of her mother, the fluidity in which she moved. The determination in her eyes however would strike unease in any god, for it was the same look that the god of shadows had. A look that let the opponent knew, regardless of their strengths and skills, they would fail.

Numenor

Cal Azroth

The Council gathered in the War Chamber, a place of power from which much of the Empires decisions had been made after Numenor had been secured. This room held the ruling class of the Empire, the "elite"; military officials, masters, and nobles as well as the ruling clan. The War Chamber was designed in an rectangular shape with rounded ends. This allowed the council members to see and speak to one another evenly, as well as give a complete view of the World Map, the enchanted floor at the center of the chamber. The floor itself had been molded to represent the whole of Ashariel, and enchanted by the Black Tower to change as the mortals of the world moved across its face.

High King Lucius Dragonstone sat at northern end of the War room, where the royal family resided, the stain glass wall behind letting in the warm glow of the morning air. The council members were present, all that could be mustered as many were dispatched to different regions or currently occupied by urgent assignments. Upon the floor walked the upper class of the military officials; High General Marrok Darkfang, High Admiral Darius Ironforge, High Marshall Alyssia Thunderstorm, High Guardian Blake Lightsheild, and High Ranger Elizabeth Silverwind.

"What issues are facing us currently warriors" Lucius said gesturing to the officials

Darkfang was the first to speak, moving to a small gap in the Spine of the World, there two armies clashed; one a solid wall of formidable men and women, the other a rabble of creatures from the depths of darkness "Your sons' troops have halted the orc advance sir" he watched as the rabble fled to the trees, and was met by mage fire "They have routed the army and killed most of the leadership. All that remains is securing the pass"

Lightsheild spoke next, kneeling in the icy snow of the north western spine "Troubling reports from the Howling Tundra my lord" he gestured to the tiny figures stumbling across the tundra, and the thick fog "The Stonehides report creatures of the undead attempting to claw their way up the mountians' cliff, some even attempting to pass the Ice Gate"she pointed to the fog "I have sent a detachment of Warden to this area" He looked to Lucius "Strong magic is at work he, dark and powerful magic"

"If they find anything, and I mean anything. Deal with it appropriately, should they need the Guardians or Stormguard they shall have it" Lucius said standing

Ironforge spoke next stepping lightly across the waters "The Crystal Sea is proving far more treacherous past the Isle of the Huntress. But out marines have proven stalwart, there are far more island chains for our people to expand"

"No challenge from Ulmo?" Lucius asked. They all knew of the unstable peace between Sargon and Ulmo. Sargon had raised Numenor from the seas, there for shrinking the domain of the God of Water. Her towering mountains shielded much of the land, also diminishing Ulmos' power and influence in the land. Sargon had tried to quell his brothers anger by agreeing that his mortals would not interfere with Ulmos', this however could be contained for only so long.

Ironforge shook his head "No challenge sir, but our ships have spotted strange vessels on the horizons. We do not know my lord"

"Find out" Lucius ordered stepping onto the floor and walking across the map "Silverwind"

"Yes my liege" The Ranger said stepping forward "The forests are quiet upon our side of the Danius River. But rangers report an increase in activity from the north of Faderlan"

Lucius rubbed his chin, most of the issues in activity were stirring in the north. Though he was not worried, the great mountains of the north were almost unnavigable by anyone but the lycans. That is assuming they were able to cross the breadth of the Danius river that flowed out to sea. "Have Seekers sent to the north, watch for anything that may come from the Tainted lands" those lands belonged to the beings of Baraku, and were known well for testing the other mortals.

"Yes my lord" Silverwind spoke

Lucius turned to Marshall Thunderstorm "Have your agents incerase their numbers, and strengthen reports"

"Yes my lord" Thunderstorm replied
