Anka Jinn

"Loosen up, have a smoke, burn off a little steam."

a character in “The Legend of Korra: The Vigil”, originally authored by Solo Wing Pixy, as played by RolePlayGateway

Anka Jinn
Gender: Female
Physical Description: Anka is average sized, topping off at 5'10" and weighing 135lbs. She's adopted a tomboyish look, wearing little makeup, keeping her hair short, and donning mostly male clothes. She is almost always seen smoking a cigarette unless either she's out, or some extreme circumstance prevents it. She's pretty, but in no way a girly girl. She has several scars, the most prominent being the twin marks down her right cheek, which she refuses to tell how she got. Also, rather nasty scar cuts down from under her armpit, under her left breast and tapers off at her navel, and her wrists and arms bear small scars, some self inflicted, others accidents and burns.
Clothing: Her typical outfit is black, tight fitting pants with a loose black tunic, and boots. While she would never be caught dead in a dress, the most formal clothes she could be bothered to wear are black suits, but fancy soirees aren't really her thing. If she can get away with it, she'd never wear a stuffy suit. On the job, she dresses in black cloth with dark leather finger less gauntlets, boots, elbow and knee guards, and a dark scarf or muffler.
Personality: Anka is a cynic. She's hard to really "like" unless you're just like her. She's usually pretty brash, and isn't afraid to speak her mind. She doesn't like people who are stuck up, prude, conservative, or reserved. She's outgoing, and if she likes someone or is interested in them, she doesn't play games. She speaks bluntly, and lets everyone know what's up. She's known to keep her cool for the most part, but she doesn't like being called by her first name. If someone persists, she will get angry at them. She dislikes the notion that men are stronger or better than women, and views both genders equally. Another way to get to her is to grill her on her smoking. She doesn't mind if someone complains; in fact, it would likely make her laugh; but if someone says she has a problem, she gets defensive. She's loyal to her friends, even if she does poke fun at them. She says she doesn't know why she still hangs out with the rest of the group, but she does care about them, and they tend to keep her somewhat in check. She won't hesitate to help her friends if they need it, but if it is not serious, she couldn't give a damn. Conversely, she is very independent and refuses help from anyone, even at the brink of death. It hurts her pride to be assisted. Similarly, she'd never admit to being beaten, and once she's set her mind to something, she goes at it until she does it, or is physically unable to continue. She doesn't like being a follower, but neither is she an effective leader. She doesn't mind killing criminals, and actually believes that to be the right course of action most of the time. She won't actively kill innocents, but collateral damage is a minor problem. In all, she's a mix between a chaotic neutral and a chaotic good alignment.

Fears:Being humiliated. She's extremely proud and deeply fears being undermined.
History: Anka was born into a wealthy Fire Nation family. She had an elder sister and a younger brother, so she was afflicted with middle child syndrome. Her older sister was a prodigy, and Anka always tried to emulate her, but always came up short. This led to severe depression in her youth. Combined with having access to virtually anything, she quickly realized that the sheltered life with her family while being constantly outdone by her elder sister was not the right life for her. She did not feel entitled to what her family had, and she did not want to get anything without working for it. At 13, she got up and left, and traveled to Republic City.

For a while, she lived on the street, picking pockets and knocking off small stands to survive. At 16, she joined a small time gang that generally just scammed neighborhood kids, shook down people who took a wrong turn down an alley, or knocked off poor merchants, but it all changed when one of the older boys stabbed a man who had no money. She got angry at him and fought the rest of the gang, mortally wounding the leader and killing another, as they were no match for her martial training and fire bending. It was at that point that she began to work as a vigilante, and now, she is with the Vigil, and lives in their penthouse. Still she does not talk much about her past, even with the members of the vigil, but she does like to make up stories.
Theme Song/Songs:
Casual: Fire - Poets of the Fall
Friends:You're Gonna Go Far Kid - The Offspring
Firebending: Burn It Down - Five Finger Death Punch
Bending Type: Fire/Lightning
Bending Style/Fighting Style: Anka learned Bojutsu from her granduncle when she was a child, and she incorporates this heavily into her fighting style. She also bends and can generate fire and lightning, although she only uses the latter when things get serious. Her style is very aggressive and unpredictable, much like herself

So begins...

Midnight in Republic city. It was almost as beautiful as it was dangerous. Tao stood and the far side of a large room, lavishly furnished, with expensive flooring and elegant lights that seemed to set a calm mood. He stood at the large window, observing the incredible view that the penthouse apartment provided, with one hand on the glass, deep in thought.

It had been almost six months since he had decided to do something about the state of he city. Six months since he had put together a group of mismatched vagabonds in attempt to take the safety of Republic City into his own hands, and he was actually starting to see a change. The streets were now a bit more alive at night, as people were less afraid to come out, and they had taken the first swing at the city's organised crime underworld, but it still wasn't enough. Crimes were still being committed, and many innocent people were still dying, or living in fear because of it.

He took his hand off of the crystal clear glass, and made his way over to the telephone, picking the set up, and clicking a hidden button on the bottom. This would emit a frequency that would trigger the other crime fighter's pagers, and let them know, that wherever they were, he needed to speak to them at the penthouse.
