Arcanon enters.

0 · 2,126 views · located in Forest Border

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Alasund

Description

About middle height and of slim build, this 21 year old mage has a mostly black cape and robes, his black hair pulled back in what can be loosely called a ponytail.
His crimson eyes are cold, and seem to cut into your soul.

Image

Personality

Cold and calculating, Arcanon is more like a scientist than a Mage, and his approach to anything is an interest in dissecting it to find out just what it is that makes it run like it does. Some say he's done this to magic, but no-one knows. Other than that he helps out the needy, but the higher up people he doesn't help, as he reckons anyone that far up in the world can help themselves.

Equipment

A book that powers his magic, sentient, and the cloak that is fire/acid resistant.
It is partially resistant to laser as well.

History

It is unknown where exactly he was born, it is only known that he was born into poverty, and had to work himself up in the world. He was helped by a sentient book that taught him how to use magic, and fuels his spells. Essentially he is a two man team, but few expect Mortei to actually communicate, it is unknown whether he can communicate to anyone else then Arcanon.

So begins...

After seeing the problem, Arcanon frowned further. Whilst it wasn't what the mage had feared, it wasn't going to be something that would be dealt with easily. "Stand back." He speaks, before stepping forwards himself. He divided his attention between two tasks, searching the deepest knowledge that Mortei and he knew to see if there was anything like this, and the second was to cast a simple spell. His lulling voice stretched across the area surrounding the plant as he attempted to use magic to study it. He was a scientific mage, and knowing even the anatomy, how it worked and how it related to other plants would be helpful.

"Not yet." He spoke, his trek through memories ceased as he considered what to do. He closed his eyes, then began to chant again. Fire danced around his fingertips, but he didn't throw it. Stepping forwards, he moved slowly towards it, waiting to see if it reacted in any way to his approach.

He paused, forming a shield of energy specifically designed to deflect the spines. It was more of a narrowed shield, intended to deflect the projectiles to either side of him. Touching the several poison antidotes, he hoped he had one that prevented this things venom as he took another step.

Smiling to himself, Arcanon walks casually forwards, fire still dancing around his fingers. If nothing spectacular happens whilst he is approaching the thing other than it shooting spines, he will stop when the shield is almost touching the thing. Then, opening the shield like one would open a box, he holds his hands out forwards. Fire spinning from his fingers, Arcanon smiled, almost sure that this thing would burn to cinders.

The shield was strongly made to withstand any force from the front. However, in his arrogance, Arcanon opened the shield to burn the plant. If it had any accuracy to hit the opening from which the fire came from, very likely it was that the mage now had a spine in one of his appendages.

"Yes." He replies, his face a grimace as he grabs the spine, pulling it out. No doubt that would hurt more than it going in, but the mage held his voice under tight control. "That thing was dangerous, tell Rahal or Ezrael if you run into them as well." Throwing the removed spine from his hand, he touched the wound, attempting to see what poison it had, and how dangerous it would be.

Arcanon was approaching steadily. A small smile on his face, and a hand stroking the staff at one side. The once pride of Arcanon's possessions was now stuck away in a leather satchel as it sulked. Or, actually it made plans, rather than sulking. Mortei was illdisposed to sulking. The mage arrived, coming around the doorway of the warehouse.

Arcanon paused at the entrance. Ezrael was being rather abrupt today. The hand touching it brushed against it once more as he paused to think, then shrugged. "Why not?" He replies, smiling. The stroking hand grasps it and draws the staff of fear out of its sheathe to be held towards Ezrael.

Arcanon grimaced annoyedly as he was shoved, and was about to turn angrily on Ezrael when he caught sight of exactly what he was doing. Then the mage's face paled quite considerably. He knew what they'd done to create this staff and to force it to be able to be drawn from two different sheathes. He had a healthy fear of exactly what would happen now. "What are you doing?" His voice, for the very first time in Ezrael's hearing, was painted with fear.

Arcanon frowned, watching the device. "I do. What of it?" He frowned, his eyes darkening. Anyone watching would see the runes glitter, bound by the artifact. He was not a calm person, and this 'attack' wasn't appreciated. Mortei stilled himself in the satchel, choosing not to move, but to watch.

"What is wrong with you." But it wasn't a question as Arcanon flatly stared. For some reason this zealousness actually made Arcanon much more wary than he had been to anything else Ezrael had thrown at him previously. "You're not speaking plainly with me. Why this sudden concern with me having a demon to aid me?" Mortei almost stirred at the referrence, but stayed rock still.

Finally, finally Arcanon smiled. A cold smile. A calculating one, full of the sudden realisation that he had an ace. Something that Ezrael couldn't predict. "I can trust you, to be predictable." The voice was haughty, the tone dismissive. "I am a mortal, and yet I can normally arrive at a realisation before you. Is that so really weak? I think you underestimate my kind. You underestimate, most of all, me." Oh, yes. He was being goaded and he didn't know it.

Arcanon just stood there, quelling the latest burst of longing for the tower as he held the staff up to block, stepping back, ready to take the impact... And then smiling again. "So, you're too afraid of me to even swing properly? Hah. For all your talk of testing me, perhaps it is you that should be tested." Arcanon had thought that if the two staves had already both been drawn in the same room, clashing them would make no difference.... Not a smart assumption.

Arcanon knew full-well what the staff could do, having enchanted it himself. However, his immediate reaction to deal with it was closed down by the anti-magic field that surrounded the two. An annoyed frown painted his features as he waited for the inevitable bolts of energy that the staff could summon at will.

Arcanon, predictably, paused for just a second as he was suddenly surprised by the move. He'd been expecting the more magical attack... But then, he always did. He flicked the staff to the side, in an attempt to deflect Ezraels.

Arcanon flew backwards, his back screaming as he himself slammed through the door. He lay on the ground for a moment, his head whirling as the world almost unravelled around him...

Leaning up, his legs still numb and unmoving, Arcanon just stared blankly at Ezrael. "What the hell were you doing?" The flat tone, the glaring look.... Arcanon was not a happy man, especially as he still wasn't sure if he'd broken something or not...

A raised eyebrow from Arcanon as he stared blankly at Ezrael for a moment... This was sudden, and completely confusing.. A test? Perhaps he didn't know the cross-breed as well as he thought. "If you put your mind to making something, you always have to be prepared for the eventuality that you might have to face it." He replies, and then smiles. Not actually a cold smile, but more of a smile... of respect? Arcanon shakes the hand of Ezrael, still bemused. "Do you have any way to check if something is broken before it starts hurting?"

Arcanon returns the gaze, his eyes curious as he steps away with Ezrael, slowly relinquishing his scrutiny as he turns to Ezrael. "He has, I believe, already chosen that if he were to have the chance, he would fall." With that comment, the mage tossed his hair, smiling. "And do you really think it isn't possible that we could succeed in setting this up? It's not 'we could'. It is, if we do this, 'we will'."

Now we had an eyebrow raise. It seemed every time that Arcanon had thought he'd figured out Ezrael, something happened to make him realise there was a lot more to him than Arcanon had ever thought. "That's an interesting thing to say to someone who you have tried to subdue on previous occasions." Arcanon replies with a slight quirk of the mouth. "But if you really think so, I can try."
