Atreviel

"I am whatever he needs me to be. I doubted him once, I will never do so again, not after how far he has gone to prove himself to me."

Description

Atreviel, The Blade of Dusk.

When Lucifer was cast from heaven he took with him his armor, his wings, and his sword, all given to him by god. The armor is hidden, the wings are apparent, but the sword, which had stood for Lucifer's devotion and service to his father, filled him with loathing at it's very existence. He despised it as a reminder that He had been little more than a tool to do another's will. So, as the blade was a tool to fulfill his will, Lucifer would have two tools of his own, the same to him as he was to god. The physical blade he warped and changed, giving it a body crafted from his own blood. But the power of the weapon, the burning fire that had sheathed the blade in righteousness, he ripped from it and gave consciousness with his voice.

This became Atreviel, a wraith with no physical form wielding the power of Lucifer's own voice and will. Existing only as a spirit renders Atreviel unable to interact with the physical world, just as it renders the physical world incapable of affecting him. In order to enforce his master's orders, Atreviel uses magic power and force of will to bend the environment to his design, allowing him to create gusts of wind, earthen spears, or warriors of plant and serpents of water. This power makes Atreviel adept at assassinating those who refuse to obey Lucifer, making their deaths seem like natural accidents or disaster. The extent of this power is variable, At full strength, Atreviel can create a hurricane to destroy entire countries, raise Tsunami's, and shake the very earth to bring disaster upon millions, but Atreviel's very nature makes demands he maintain his strength by devouring the souls of his victims, just as a vampire drains the blood of theirs.
Atreviel feeds on the very life forces around him, and must draw upon that power to unleash his full strength, and the process of doing this always leaves a blighted spot around him, a place where no more living things exist, a black scar of death.

So begins...

"The fact that you even dare to persist in this place, when you know full well that you are not welcome, is an offense of itself. That you are not bound and bloodied as we speak is nothing short of a miracle, granted to you only by the grace of The King." Spoke a voice that had no source, and echoed off the very air itself.

"Calm thyself, Atreviel. The King asked us to return in peace. And while the definition of human words may change with time, I doubt that he intends for us to harm his visitors, especially not while the esteemed Abaddon holds charge." Spoke another voice, this one coming from far end of the hall. It's speaker was a strange creature, horned and rippling with muscle, yet it's movements were graceful and lithe, unmistakably predatory. The creatures eyes were green and held an unwavering intelligence and will behind it.

"Such an affront to king should not be allowed to stand... But if it is by the Kings own order, I shall let it pass unmolested... for now." Said the voice that had no source. It would be then that Abaddon would recognize an irregularity, to her left, a bit lower from where the raised dais was that the throne sat upon, was a shadow that had no cause. This shadow did not move and was not shaped to any particular form.

Rushed out from the entrance to the throne room, out of breath and sweating. "Luuuuux!" He groaned, keeling over to catch his breath as he looked up. "I'm ah...sorry I'm late! Had some important business to take care of. Aha...ahaha..." He laughed, nervous and not content with this scene he was making for himself. She was talking to someone however, and as he regained his breath he stood up straight and walked over a tad confused.

"Eh? Lux, who is this you're talking with? And ah...what's she doing on the throne? I think I may have missed something...or maybe my mind is just blanking, what are we doing here again?"

Of course she been expecting to meet the Twin Anti-Christ, but these two were unknown to her. Abaddon rarely displayed curiosity but even she was partially intrigued by this. Nonetheless her expression remained motionless, although with the arrival the second twin, a look of pure disgust rang out as she spoke with rage, "Respect your betters little imp. At least your sister can show the proper decorum when speaking to a Prince. My appearance means nothing, the title is merely that a title." growling smoke flew from her surrounding the room in pitch blackness leaving only the Throne and little more bright, "I am Abaddon, Prince of Destruction. You two are aberrations. Heirs you may be but I value first impressions and your Brother Lux has shown himself to be an utter asinine moron. No... retard, was he dropped by his naive Mother and their blasphemy of an union? Shameless jezebels indulging in sapphic taboos and birthing children from it. It makes me utterly sick." finally her focus moved to Lux.

"You on the other hand have some hope and understand the correct decorum... I saw both your Mothers... and they were naive and utterly contempitible but if you are willing to move on, there may be hope for you..." pausing she could see the masked hatred and it made her little euphoric, "Oh yes things have changed... YOUR MOTHERS ARE TO BLAME... Hell once had order, but if you dare pretend I cannot read an act little girl... I will sooner dunk you in River Styx and let them tear you apart..."

Now to others, "New faces of loyalty, amazing what comes out of the wood-work, but perhaps you two could be of use... there is problems in Hell... huge problems..." seeing their expression she continued, "Two mortals wander through Hell without escort and a certain being decided to overtake Wrath to save the souls... if you are wishing to act in his name... sort them out..." again a pause, "Also, no affront is acceptable, but evidently these two heirs are as dangerous as Cerebrus Pups... I now have decided that with how things look I was wise to build up an old bridge..."

When the second brother arrived, the predatorial being looked over at him with a raised brow before smirking. "Ahh, how I envy the youth of this age, so utterly clueless and beyond redemption. Enjoy yourself while you can child, before long you will have to grow up and accept the reality of how completely worthless your existence is... Or maybe you'll prostrate yourself before the king and find the joy of service, who knows."

Then the being stepped forth and kneeled before the throne. "Hail, Abaddon, Prince of Destruction, Advocate and watcher of the throne of The king. I am Elandis, The Blade of Dawn"
The shadow moved itself to a position before Abaddon, where in a shade, a wraith as it were, took physical form and kneeled before her. "I am Atreviel, The Blade of Dusk"

Then both called out together. "We are at the service of the King."

"The mortals are known to us, and shall be dealt with." Elandis spoke. "But do you wish them dealt with quietly, or made an example of?"

Atreviel had faded once more, and the shadow was no longer to be seen. However both Lux and Tenebris would feel a distinct chill down their spine, as though a ghost were standing near at hand, and watching them with hunger.

Atreviel’s voice caught Lux by surpise, but it only vaguely showed on her face, befor she reigned it in hard, she turned her gaze to the second voice. Her eyes watched the creature and she admired it’s grace, tho not openly. She held the same , distantly bored expression she had before.

The shadow with no cause gave her a moments pause tho. She’d have to be much more cautious around here.

As if nails rang out on a hundred chalk boards her brother voice echoed through the halls.
A modified expression contorted her placid face, pure , unquenchable fury blazed in her eyes as she glared at her fool brother.

“ We are here, brother dearest, to beg forgiveness for our foolish----” she immediately cut her sentence short as the woman on the throne spoke.

Her expression held firm as she took the verbal beating, she let the anger she felt roll over her and simply bent in it’s whirlwind, never letting it show on her face. She simply accepted it in full that she was in the wrong. Tho she full heartedly agreed with the woman on her brother conduct. She'd have to have a word with him later.

The other two adults… if that was a proper term for them, spoke and lux held her plight , she was going to go about the bits of begging and scraping that was proper but felt it was probably wiser to not interrupt. She waited, hands folded neatly infront of her, she resisted to urge to fret with her dress and the two beings pronounced themselves men of the king. She made note of their names and what abilities they flaunted.

The man faded and ice slowly crept its way through Lux’ spine, She didn’t let it affect her in the slightest but she realized exactly how much work it was going to be to do what she pleased…

She would remain quiet until she was addressed again. Still as a statue she was.

His demeanor shifted completely at the attitude directed his way, he wasn't so sure how to feel about this in its entirety. Between the insults directed their way (mostly his way), and now the chill that ran down his spine...it was all a bit overwhelming.

Tenebris decided speaking wasn't his strong suit in this situation, that was mostly his sister...he, on the other hand, was way too relaxed and way too unsociable to do any sort of negotiating of the sort. He, on the other hand, tried to look relaxed as he was completely still and silent for the current situation...The last thing he needed to do was anger the lady on the throne again, that and it sounds like he screwed with whatever Lux was working on. Sorry sis! he mentally apologized, gulping heavily as he shifted in place.

Glaring Abaddon still sat on the throne regarded them all, "I don't care how you two deal with them. Although I do suspect this is little to do with Lucifer and more perhaps a show of power against Erebuz. One of those beings is more powerful than any of us in this place. Speak to them, find out their intention if intent in helping fight that entity, help them. As for Wrath, that must be dealt with in efficient manner. I don't care how, but Wrath cannot be purified like Violence is. The armies of Hell after all need be united and full power." pausing the darkness grew thicker around me as she suddenly appeared next to both twins, "I am feeling lenient currently since things are progressing. Prove yourself, both of you and unconsecrate Violence. I shall leave how to your imagination. Do this and I you will be redeemed. Fail and you were always useless and would not have made a difference."

Appearing on the Throne her red eyes glowed darkly, "CLASS DISMISSED." with that the whole room with fill with cruel darkness and any trace of Abaddon was left hidden in the unerring mist.

"As the regent commands" Said Elandis.
"For the king" Said Atreviel.

Atreviel was nowhere to be seen, so whether he departed and to where was unknown, the only hint of it being that the chill of fear the children of lilith felt was suddenly lifted.
Elandis stood and walked out the door to the hall, completely unphased by the darkness Abaddon had drawn. Being a creature of the night, He took the darkness as a gift from the Regent, and reveled in it. As he passed the children of Lilith he smiled at them, his eyes glowing a dull red, and said "You two might want to hurry and redeem yourselves. Abaddon is far more lenient than the king, and if your still in hell when he returns, you will be suffering a long and painful punishment."

And then the Blade of Dawn departed the sanctum of hell.

A chilling cold gripped the souls of the fifth circle, and fear rippled through them. Most of them knew not why, but they fell to their knees, sobbing in panic and despair. A few knew what it was, and what was coming. These were the wise ones, they too fell to their knees but immediatly began begging the lords of the circle for forgiveness, asking any demon that would still listen. A few foolish souls tried to resist, and for their transgression, they suddenly and inexplicably dissolved, vanishing in a flash of terrible light.

This chill spread further and further across the fifth circle, as the rebelious souls either surrendered themselves, fell to their knees with broken wills, or were utterly destroyed. As the cold spread so too did a shadow, a pall. And eventually this shadow reached over and covered Cole

Cole would feel this chill, a feeling of certain doom, the primal fear deep in his bones born of generations of repetition from a single truth: Death was here, true death, the death of his very soul.

A whisper in his ear spoke. "You have commited a crime against the throne, and for this you will be punished, unless you submit to your kings authority and bow."

A figure appeared in the room, silently and without warning. "Greeting Lord Lucifer, I have gathered---Wait a second..." The figure announced itself but turned silent once it scanned the room. Lucifer was no longer in the throne room and there were a couple of new arrivals, possibly more demons that heard the lords call since no mortal could ever hope to enter the lords palace.

Duriel decided to remain silent for the moment unless asked, he was here to report to Lucifer that he had successfully gathered all of his followers. It had taken some effort on his part and was late to report to him and he would not give no excuse for the time it took. But it was better to receive a punishment then death for not returning at all, but for now all he had to do was wait for him to arrive but a question struck him. Where did he go? After all this time he appears then disappears again, perhaps something urgent came up? That was certainly the case surely.

It took several hours to traverse the circles from Lust to Wrath, but it would have taken longer had Elandis not been leading the party. Even so, as they drew closer to hell, Elandis slowed and became wary, cautious and careful. He removed from the sheathe upon his back a long blade, with a simple hilt, pommel, and crossguard. The blade itself was long and clean, and shone brilliantly. It was beautiful, so much so that it made the drab and dark realm they traversed through look ever more decayed. The blade was meant as a two handed sword, but Elandis wielded it in one hand, and lightly as though it were no heavier than a twig.

His eyes flashed from side to side and all about, all his senses pricked and listening. "Atreviel is the Blade of Dusk, and as that title suggests, he is an ending to all things. Even immortals and gods need fear of him, for his very existence is to end theirs. Out of every creature that exists in this reality, he is the most dangerous, as he and he alone could end reality itself, if he were given the opportunity."

He paused a moment and looked back at them. "Normally he is no threat, and performs only the will of the King, however he takes much joy in performing his function and has been known to lose himself in excitement." He turned forward and strode a few paces further. "If you begin to feel a chill on the back of your neck, start running as fast as you can, oh and also let me know."

"If I feel the need to suddenly escape, I shall slit the priests throat, and hijack his soul on a one-way trip to heaven," Ezrael stated calmly.
Jean-Paul stopped walking to turn and stare at him for several moments, then continued moving.

Missing the obvious cue to shut up, Ezrael continued talking. "Who made this Atreviel, exactly? Something capable of ending all things could surely only be made by something even greater. And for what purpose? That suggests a beginning and an end of all things. No one serves to benefit from that. And-" He suddenly stopped and brushed his chin with fingers. "You know what, maybe its best left inconceivable."

"'ow much further to the soul? I cannot stand this prattling any longer," Jean-Paul muttered irritably.

Elandis smiled at Ezrael. "Unfortunately for you theres no garuntee that hijacking another persons soul would work, as Atreviel would be able to simply snatch that soul before it can transcend. As to how Atreviel came to be, honestly I haven't the first idea."

He paused a moment to listen to his surroundings before continuing. "To set things as simply as possible, it's better not to think of Atreviel by his name, but rather by his title. I have been the Blade of Dawn for only the past eighty two millenia, where as Atreviel has always been the Blade of Dusk." Elandis gestured to his weapon, shining bright in the gloom. "In actuality, this is the Blade of Dawn. It is literally nothing more than a sword, simple and elagant, but with no enchantments or magics upon it. It is simply a weapon."

He looked then to Ezrael and Jaun, and a serious glint in his eye bade them heed well his words. "Atreviel is the Blade of Dusk, and the Blade of Dusk is in fact Atreviel. When you meet him, if you are able to see him, you will find no weapon upon his person. That is become he is himself a weapon. The Blade of Dusk is an ending to things, just as Dusk is the last light of day."

Elandis then paused, and looked around uncertain. "We have been in the circle of wrath for some time now, notice how quiet it is, how there is no sound at all..."

"That is Atreviel."

Ezrael stared on, one eyebrow half raised, then shrugged. "I don't know what good being silent does. If he truly is oblivion and is as beyond-omnipotent as you say then everything else is a formality. Not that I believe he is, because that would put him at a greater power than God. Capital 'G'. And if God wanted to destroy everything, then He would," Ezrael answered dismissively, "If we are consumed by the oblibion that is this 'Blade of Dusk and Dawn', then effectively so is the universe anyway. And as universe ending entities go, he is not the first, nor would he be the last, that I alone know of. I refuse to be frightened by such a concept."

Jean-Paul had not let all of that fall on deaf ears, as sometimes he did just ignore Ezrael speaking. One part in particular outright confused him. "You beleive in god? I must admit I am surprised. You are... Far from the model of a believer, but we do come in many forms..." he spoke in a taunting tone.

Elandis chuckled. "If you ever have the fortune to look upon the King, then you will know beyond doubt that God is real, for only divinity could bring forth such majesty as is Lucifer Morningstar"

Elandis stood, sheathed his sword and turned to Ezrael. "As to that, my good man, Atreviel is not Omnipotent nor Omnipresent, and it is very likely that he was created by God himself. But Atreviel is not simply a universe ending entity. He is a key to ending everything." Elandis then took a couple steps back and crossed his arms, smiling. "You know how some people, who find life hard to bear, will keep a loaded gun somewhere safe where they and they alone know where it is? These people keep those weapons as a sort of security blanket, commonly stating 'It makes it easier to bear knowing that there's always a way out if I want it' or something of that sort. That is what I think Atreviel was made for, Though not for God. I had a conversation with him once about it, and Atreviel said something along the lines of 'Should my lord ever ask for it, I shall give him freedom from his role'. I mentioned this to the king, concerned that Atreviel was plotting to kill him or some such, and Lucifer said to me 'That is what he is for, a gift from my father should I ever value something more than my own existence'."

Elandis shrugged then and nodded at Ezrael. "By the way, You cannot kill him. He's here by my authority and thus is protected."

Ezrael's grin only widened, but he said simply nothing. There were times to talk and times to remain silent. Instead of addressing the matter he instead answered; "How much further until the Flavaar boy? It has been years since I saw him. We were forcefully separated. Quite a marvellous child, to be admired, but ultimately misunderstood."

Jean-Paul was left rudely without an answer and continued his tromping steps. "Your father?" he inquired, ever fishing for information that might be imperative to his survival in the next few minutes of what seemed to be an increasingly shortening lifespan, if the risks that were involved were anything to go by.

At that moment Ezrael would feel a cold hand upon his throat. That hand had absolutely no warmth in it, it was the chill of death itself and his skin, his very soul would recoil at it's presence. A whisper echoed in his ear, mind, and heart. "But why is a mortal here? What purpose does it serve." Atreviel's voice had no source, it seemed to come from nowhere, and from everywhere, within and without.

Jaun would see nothing near or around Ezrael, and indeed it wouldn't seem as though anyone was there, but Ezrael would still be able to feel that presence there, a sensation that felt as though every moment of Ezraels existence had known the presence of the being who's cold grip slowly leeched the life from him.

Elandis shook his head and said "He's searching for something and intends to make a deal, the procedure for such things is very clear, and I'm only following the kings will regarding it. In any case, they are mine to handle, not yours.

The voice sighed and said "I was sent to handle wrath, they are in wrath."

"Yes, but they are under my authority." Elandis countered.

The chill melted from Lux's spine, it wasn't hard to fathom who had caused the chill... from what information she had over heard.
As Her sight faded to never ending black Lux steeled her self, she would not flinch.

" "I am feeling lenient currently since things are progressing. Prove yourself, both of you and unconsecrate Violence. I shall leave how to your imagination. Do this and I you will be redeemed. Fail and you were always useless and would not have made a difference." Abaddon said.

Violence was purified...

Lux's mind began clawing at answers, answers to this ridicules situation, but she'd need more information. She'd have to see what happened before she could fix what had been disturbed.

Abaddon dismissed them all. Lux made the same curtsy she had before, bowing her head low as she might have to Lucifer. No need to spark more anger with Abaddon... She watched Elandis pass with the corner of her eye. She had a feeling she'd have to speak with that one eventually.

" "You two might want to hurry and redeem yourselves. Abaddon is far more lenient than the king, and if your still in hell when he returns, you will be suffering a long and painful punishment." He said.

No doubt he was correct, Lux had not needed to be reminded of such things. Her brother might.
" Thank you again Abaddon, a kindness will not be squandered." She breathed , curtsying again before turning to leave, making sure to give her dolt of a bother a level, scorching look. She shifted an eye in Abaddon's direction. Hopefully the wool brained fool would catch the hint, and remember his manners she had beaten into him, metaphorically.

The young lady moved brisk, dedicated. Back straight and head held high. Her twisted mind gnawed at the issues at hand.
Desecration was not the hardest thing on the face of the world to do, by the king, every moral ever was able to do it.
Violence, to others, self, and god.... To go against the natural order. Blaspheme... She'd need Wine, lots of it... And perhaps to find Daedalus... No that would take to long. She'd had to come up with something so stoically sinful, not even she could stomach it. But what...

She turned a corner, and looked back to see if her brother followed her, huffing she peered back around the corner she rounded and called to him. " Tenebris! This way you lout." She hissed, supple lips twisted into a frown that somehow kept it's charm.

For a lack of a simpler explanation, Ezrael's soul was both absent and present; present enough to be considered having one, but absent enough to be detached from his body, a fact that not even Ezrael or Jean-Paul knew. However, much more significant was the magical protections put in place for Ezrael that protected him mentally from a fight or flight response, which also served as a protection from insanity via revelation, as he often delved into horrific tomes about things that lived between existences and fed on missed seconds in mortals lives then produced waste in the form of literal sin. As such, his reaction to Atreviel was cordial.

"Mortal, immortal? Words that mean nothing. If one can obliviate even oneself, then none are immortal," he spoke to the air, his eyes refusing to acknowledge any individual around him, "The irony being, what makes those in hell 'mortal' is the absence of death." There was something wrong with how he was speaking. Instead of talking about people directly, his manner was to assert the existence of those sorts of people.

Jean-Paul had, again, fallen silent to observe the odd proceedings.

Atreviel hissed and his presence vanished. "I do not like this one, it is like me, it should not be...."

Elandis sighed, and apologised to his charges. "I am most sorry about that, he's usually a far more cordial host..." Elandis began walking again, leading them further into Wrath. "Atreviel, there is a soul here by the name Ezrael Flavaar, could you be so kind as to locate it for me."

Silence was the only response, that and the soft moan of the wind across the now empty circle of wrath.
