"But Simone said he washed his hands properly! So why would he not wash them now..? What if he was trying to put me off, Vrass, do you think he's regretting asking me out? I think he's regretting asking me out, I'm such an idiot! Is it because I carry soap? And toothpaste? I need soap and toothpaste, Vrass."

Cerenah chewed on her lip and nodded in response to Vrass. "It's not that strange... Dad's just the same, he doesn't like being dirty or germy either," she mumbled, frowning at one very clean, red-raw hand. "I really can't help it."

Cerenah managed a smile at that. "I did dye my hair green. I thought that was rebellious enough to count; you dye your hair green! Simone likes your green hair! I thought that it'd be the same, the boys would like my green hair and I'd manage to find one who wasn't gay, mucky or an arse..."

"I really liked Craig, but if he was... bedding you, then obviously he wasn't," she muttered. "Don't any of the boys ever tell you they like me? It would make sense to be friends with you first because then you're less likely to kill them, right?"

That seemed a logical assumption.

Cerenah sighed, leaning back against her chair with a pout. "So, if you were to disappear maybe they'd be more inclined to try? You might be preventing my future husband from getting through to me, you know," she half-heartedly joked. "I should just kill you off, Vrass."

"Not if I killed you properly," she pointed out, although her nose had wrinkled at the thought of a bloody mess on her pristine floors. "I could poison you. Have you... eh... relax your muscles so much that your heart ceases to function. That'd work, right?"

Cerenah flapped her hands at Vrass in irritation. "Okay, I won't kill you," she acceded with a shudder. "Don't talk any more 'bout it, okay? How come you're allowed to be all judgemental over my boyfriends and I'm not allowed to be judgemental about yours?"

"But none of my boyfriends are going to pass your test because they're boys and I'm your 'little' sister! I am seeing a double standard here, Vrass!"

Cerenah seemed entirely defeated by this point. "I'm going to grow up alone and then I'm going to buy two cats that will soon have kittens and then I will end up not alone. Because I will have dozens of cats. I'm going to be a spinster. Children will fear me and my cats when I'm old."

"A bazillion? But... sex is kinda dirty too, so I don't really want a lot of children. Maybe I could adopt instead, that way there is no need for sex, right, Vrass? You do get boys that don't like sex too, don't you?"

"I don't stop thinking about germs and icky things, Vrass. I don't want to have sex, it's disgusting. Really, really disgusting..." She shook her head, toying with the nozzle to the antibacterial wash. "This is just silly..."

Cerenah , looking incredibly uncomfortable, stood and left the bar through the Side Alley exit.

Cerenah stepped into the bar with her usual look of disappointment. Boys were really no use; no matter how hard Cerenah tried, none of them were clean enough, or good enough for Vrass or her father to accept... And the last one hadn't even bothered turning up for the movie they were going to see together, leaving the green-haired sixteen year old to walk back to the bar by herself.

She was rather hoping that her brother would be there to once again reassure her that the bloke was gay, or retarded, or incapable of being kind, but Vrass was nowhere to be seen. This meant that poor Cerenah (who was currently cleaning her hands with her usual antibacterial soap) had to take a seat, alone, at the bar after routinely dusting off the stool with a handkerchief and being sure not to touch the counter itself. It looked sticky just from where she sat!

Cerenah grimaced at Vegeten's rather bold, stark question and fidgeted nervously with her handkerchief. He looked rather strange in her eyes, for this teenager was used to seeing thin, wiry-muscled teenage boys (her Dad totally didn't count) rather than those with a stronger, muscular build.

As such, the girl chose not to respond and went about staring at a mark on the counter that she couldn't quite tell if it was blood or red wine staining the surface. She shuddered and turned away from the counter. Who was there here? No Vrass, no Dad, no Mum. A colourful clown that she found rather creepy and the man who apparently had spent too long in the gym... What a selection.

Cerenah shook her head. "Just waiting for my brother," she stated. "He said he'd be here." Vrass had said no such thing, and even if he had it was highly unlikely he would remember unless it was convenient for him. However, it was always best to say that someone was going to be arriving to be with her - it tended to ward off the perverts and creeps.

"It's absolutely none of your business," Cerenah replied, turning away from Vegeten to (rather unfortunately) catch sight of Charley's grin. "Oh... Hello..." Cerenah trailed off, entirely confused by the sudden popularity. Weren't people sick of teenagers coming in here and making a fuss yet?

Cerenah managed a mostly weary smile, one that was tinged with idle confusion and hesitancy. Clowns had always worried the young woman; they were larger than life and loud and entirely grubby because they always catered to small children, and small children were notorious for being incubators to all things germy.

"Hi..." Cere muttered awkwardly. "Um..."

"You're lost?" Cerenah parroted as she seemed to inch back on her barstool at Charley's approach. "Um... Well, I live here - in Wing City, I mean, not here as in the bar - so I might know where you're trying to go..?"

It was a hesitant offer at best, and the offer itself prompted another hurried sentence from the girl.

"I'm waiting for my brother, though, he'll be here real soon, so I can't stay to help for long..."

Cerenah grit her teeth at that - that ever so obviously wasn't a smart thing to do, not around here. Not where the smallest of things could kill you and the most innocent of creatures would tear your heart from within your chest and your brain from your skull.

"I really, really shouldn't, Vrass said to stay here..." Now she really wanted Vrass to appear, of all the times for her lazy brother to come into the bar, now would be the best. "I could give you directions..."

Cerenah glanced over her shoulder at Vegeten before staring down at Charley's hand. Had that other person just told her to stop being negative about people she didn't know (hadn't his mother ever told him not to talk to strangers?) and then watched as this clown invaded her personal space?

"I really need to go - Vrass, he'll be waiting for me at home, I've just - just... remembered, he said to meet him there..." the teenager stammered. "I'm sorry I couldn't help you, but I really need to go."

With determination that she was sure couldn't possibly be mistaken for courage, Cerenah attempted to stand from her stool and get the hell out of the bar.
