Name: David Charles Haller
Aliases: Legion / The Mutant God
Age: 20
Race: Homo-Superior [Mutant]

Personality

Once a free spirited and kind youth that would never dream of harming a soul, the combination of violence and fear that ran rampant through the streets of society since the explosion in mutant population, and the already troubled state of mind for the mutant with various persons of all kinds living in his head, David is now a serious and leery individual. Over the years, he has subconsciously created thousands of separate personalities, each with its own agenda and its own set of mutant powers. The mix of limitless abilities at his disposal with no control over who he was at any given point caused too much trouble for him, and those around him, and seeing others hurt against his will became the norm.

It is for this reason that he is so extremely cautious about his innate gifts, hesitating to ever risk another "lapse", although his desire to help those is constantly conflicting with his pacifistic tendencies. David is a strong advocate of mutant rights and wants nothing more than to see his kind able to walk the streets freely without being persecuted for the crimes that other mutants commit. However, he understands that peace will never come from just talking and hoping and is willing to take the extra step to make things right that most deem too extreme. While he does understand that his own people are sometimes burdened with gifts too dangerous to be easily controlled, he also believes that everyone can eventually learn to control it, and wants the public to realize this as well, instead of being afraid and wanting to end the risk.

He does not hesitate to take action, feeling it only feasible to take the life of those who would see mutant kind crumble. This is not only from anti-mutant extremists and those who oppose them outright, but sometimes even his own kind. Despite his darker methods of getting the job done, he still believes himself to be the "good guy", and tries to protect both mutants and humans alike. Should another mutant commit terrorist acts or cause so much destruction or fear that it makes the entire mutant population look worse, thereby causing their whole goal to take a step back in progress, he will aim to end their threat for good.

Despite his constant struggle and need to always maintain focus in order to stay in control of himself, there are times where he loses control to another. Once this happens, his entire attitude will change entirely based on whichever personality has taken over, and due to the vast number of them, there possibility of personas is endless. To maintain control, he must limit the use of his abilities to two at a time, the one of which is always telepathy, as it is the only way he can keep control. The only way that he can use all of his powers at once is if a threat presented itself that was so great, all of his personalities could agree that they need to get along and help dispose of the threat for their own safety. Of course, once that threat is ended, it would be a chaotic free-for-all within his head for control of his body, which could result in a situation even worse off than before.

Gifts - Curses

David is an omega level mutant, thus he possesses a level of power without foreseeable limits. He has the unique ability to create spontaneous mutations with varying attributes. There is no limit to the number of mutations he can create, nor is there a limit to what level of strength he can cause any mutation to be. Due to a combination of his immense powers and the mental instability caused by the events of when his powers initially manifested, David subconsciously creates a new persona, or sub-personality, to govern each one of these new mutations. Because of this, he has a split personality for each power he has, and each personality possesses a single mutant gift of its own. Due to the vast instability and power of his mind, telepathic intrusion beyond simple communication is a task so difficult that typically, only the strongest and most skilled of telepaths can do so successfully. One must simultaneously probe David's mind and ignore the thousands of thoughts from the others within his consciousness, navigate the maze of seemingly endless prison cells without getting lost, and avoid getting caught up with the persons within the cells that may distract or even injure the intruder should they let their guard down.

So begins...

Now standing just outside the tavern, David quickly scanned the area in search for the source of the disturbance he'd noticed earlier. His gaze fell upon the girl near the center of the square and the dozen-or-so winged winged creatures that surrounded her. The scarlet-haired woman had successfully evaded the creatures' attacks and now prepared to launch one of her own it seemed, erecting a pillar of intense flames around herself.

"Are those what I think they are?" His eyes narrowed in suspicion. They looked a lot like Angels, but he always thought they were a myth; not because it was hard to believe, but because he had never seen one for himself. Hell if people as strong as himself could exist, why couldn't Angels exist as well?

"All of you to take down one girl? That doesn't seem very fair to me." He made sure his statement was loud enough for everyone to hear. "Now I'd hate to get involved with whatever you've got going on here, so I suggest you drop it." He hoped that his words were taken to heart, but something told him that they weren't a diplomatic bunch.

The Fallen had not predicted Samaritans, surely the one they were after had an infamous reputation to discourage any such actions. According to what they'd been told only one was foolish enough to take her side. They concluded that they had overestimated her status.

While they had not predicted Samaritans, they weren't necessarily unprepared. As Fei's second pulse fluttered their wings the goup of Fallen stood stoically as they re-assessed the situation. There were ten of them in total, their numbers a redundancy in order to deal with situations just like this. The target was clear, their objective known only to them. Clearly they were hostile, and they surely weren't about to back down.

The singled out Fallen who had been the initiator spoke quickly and curtly.

"Seven, Contain. Three, proceed."

There was a communal nod from the others as they stretched their wings. The initator whipped his left arm to his side, and instantly a blade of what looked like dark magic enveloped his arm. Five of the others did the same, while the other four shot into the sky.

Three of the swordsman lunged through the air at David, the other two that stood on the fountain moved to attack Fei. The initiator also attacked from her Flank, wings spread sharply behind him.

"Get out! LEAVE!" Fei screamed at the two who had come upon the scene. "Run as far away as you can!"

She didn't have much time to warn them. The Fallen were upon her, and she could only just cloak herself and leave behind an illusion of a clone as she sprinted off towards the gates.

Get them away from Verinotte, get away, can't put people in danger. Fucking dammit! Who are these losers!?

"I'm over here!" she screamed as she scurried away from the scene, waving her hands at the angels. She stuck her tongue out and blew a raspberry at them. "Dumbass pansyflappers!"

As Aldarine walked up behind David, she spotted the Fallen above swooping down at them. The fingers of her right hand grasped her necklace, and she rose her left out at the winged attackers, drawing power from within herself and focusing it using the pendant. She released it with just a few words.

"Slow down."

The air in front of her and David shimmered, and should the Fallen swoop into it, they would find their momentum all but halted, and their movements sluggish.

The momentum spell cast by Aldarine would prove helpful if the Fallen got caught in its grasp, but it wasn't necessary for what he planned to do. The mutant balled his hand into a fist and punched forward, projecting a powerful telekinetic burst in the angels' direction. There was nothing pretty about the display, no fine control or precision. What he lacked in control he made up for in raw telekinetic power. If the Fallen were caught in the wide net of his attack, they'd be hit with a force powerful enough to level an entire housing district.

David eyed the girl as she attempted to run away from the battle. He couldn't risk letting the her get away so these things could hunt her down, it would defeat the purpose of getting involved in the first place. Despite his desire to go after her, he didn't want to leave his new companion either. There was only one rational option.

"Go after the girl while I deal with these guys." he said to Aldarine.

The three fallen that had charged David were blown away, crashing against the ground before spreading their wings to halt their loss of ground. But almost as soon as they had been attacked, the others that had flown above the battlefield had released attacks of their own in the form of black energy bolts screaming through the air at their intended targets.

Several were aimed primarily for David, as he seemed to pose the biggest threat to the completion of their objective, but none escaped from the sights of this barrage. Not Aldarine, nor Fei once she revealed herself.

And while the airborne fallen launched their attack, the swordsmen on the ground recovered their focus and moved to re-engage their respective targets.

"I am not a fighter," said Aldarine, raising the pendant at one of the angels who had fallen from her spell. It shined brightly, so much so that the light melted from it and shot out at the fallen angel. He was in for a rude smack if he didn't move from it. The light imbued one with a curse. This one was paranoia, and the witch could only hope the angel's mind was weak enough that he'd see his own comrades as enemies to fight. "I don't think I can catch up to her, either. If you want to leave, do so. I can at least protect myself."

Fei, meanwhile, had run off out of Verinotte, her speed incredible. A faint trail of light followed her, then faded gradually. It was purposeful, completely so.

A sealed envelope appeared on the doorstep of every occupant of Verinotte Hollow It was a formal invitation to the current residents to attend the Ball of Chaos, to be held in Verinotte Hall.

A secondary letter would be included, imploring any and all vampyric creatures to contact the Vankoryth Detente.

Sol blinked, finding the envelope on his door-step was a surprise. Furrowing his eyebrows, he picked it up and read the letter. An invitation? To a ball? He... He'd done nothing of importance in the last three years; he hadn't even dueled anyone..... Hell, he didn't have anything to wear. He'd have to get that all put together. When was it? A few weeks from now.... interesting.....

Taking the Letter inside he closed the door, mumbling to himself as he considered his options.

It had only been a month since Destin arrived in Verinotte Hollow. He had spent some time in Wing City, the place where he'd originally planned to attend university; however, the hectic nature of the city had proven too much for him to deal with after Flight T396 went down. The traumatic event changed him in more ways than one. He needed a change of pace—and here he was. The brilliant rays of the moon shone through the stained windows of his apartment, rousing him from his slumber. “Must be time to start the day.” he muttered to himself sleepily. Living in a city mostly populated by vampires meant that he had to become accustomed to sleeping during the day and being awake at night. It hadn’t been an easy transition; however, a sleeping pill here and there helped to mitigate the process.

Destin rose to his feet and nabbed a pair of pants slung over a chair near his bed. Then, on his way toward the door, he grabbed a clean shirt from a pile sitting on his dresser before slipping it over his head. When he opened his front door, he was surprised to see an envelope laying on the brown placemat sitting just outside of it. “The sigil of the Vankoryth Détente.” he said in a suspicious tone, wondering what business they had with him. After all, he hadn’t been here long enough to make a name for himself. He was a nobody.

He had received an invitation to something called the Ball of Chaos. He wasn’t terribly fond of dances but this would serve as a good opportunity for him to meet some of the locals. Maybe then he could find someone who could help him learn more about his power. Someone who could help him control it. There was one thing he needed to do before then, though: find something nice to wear. So, Destin stepped out of his apartment, hopefully to find someone who could direct him to the nearest clothes store.
