A large black van came to a screeching halt near Andreas, and Joseph. The sagging of the wheels seemed to indicate something heavy inside the van, as the back doors flew open.

Two hulking power armored figures emerged from the back of the van, chambering massive twenty-millimeter slugs into their heavy magnetron rifles.

Their black, opaque, faceless visors obscured everything, but two red glowing eyes, their armor too, was a deep black.

Their footfalls could be heard clearly as they started to approach, as two purple robed, and hooded individuals emerged behind the two towering Adepts of War.

They began to approach Andreas, and Joseph.

"No, I am NOT okay with that. We're going to wait right here and spend some quality time before the cavalry comes in. For all I know it's something you're going to try to use to blow my head off. You pull that and I'm going to have to kill you before you kill me."

As if on cue, the Adepts of War showed up to drag away this very agile and dangerous xeno. "And there they are now. I wouldn't try pulling any of your gadgets if I were you," he said through gritted teeth as a warning to the Adepts about Joseph's hidden arsenal, keeping his disruptor rifle warmed up and ready. He was ready for another chase, but a firefight in Victory Square where tons of innocents could get hurt was not something he wanted to picture, let alone experience.

The Adept grunted at the sight of the grenade, and with lightning speed, and inhuman precision, he took his free hand, and moved to encapsulate his massive, armored fist around Lawson's hand, and the grenade. The grenade would detonate harmlessly within the armored fist, likely taking Lawson's hand with it, but sparing him, and everyone else around them.

The Confessor chuckled. "My, You're full of suprises."

The Adept grunted again, and with Joseph still in his grasp, moved to slam his head into the concrete, in an attempt to knock him out.

The setting changes from Victory Square to Tal'dor Anchorage

Tybalt Capori figured he'd freshen up before his next shuttle trip, ducking away from the civilians as they filed off the shuttle.

Winne Rineswurth was all eyes. She, nor had most anyone from Terra, had never laid eyes on such a place. It wasn't so much that it was so much different than everywhere else in the verse, but it was different. And it was new, and most importantly it was very very private. She had been glued to the glass on their descent. Now it was all Winne could do not to oggle.

No time for oggling - almost immediately the news reporter was shuffled into a rigorous security operation. What about her things? Her stuff? Nobody answered her question the first time, so she didn't bother asking again.

Her briefing said to keep her head down and her toes in line until she got what she was there to get, and got the heck out of Aschen space. It was thrilling; the investigator within her wanted to know more. Orders like that are just too easy to want to disobey, sometimes. But she was a professional and understood the risks. She remembered the Over Terran Aschen Taiyou conflict, and that thing that happened in the Cursed Wood all those years ago.

Winne ignored the dirty looks shot in her direction and flashed a too-white smile through the unpleasantries of coming into the Aschen Empire. She tried to forget about her luggage.

Sometimes one always seemed to be a step behind.

This was the unfortunate case as Confessor Mashad disembarked from a sleek imperial Corvette that flew under a false registration, and forged papers that disguised it as a privateer vessel. He didn't appear to be much except for his short cropped brown hair, and lush dark indigo suit that was adorned with a simple lapel pin, a spiral emblem of interlocking plates that denoted the office of the Imperial Confessors, an elite secret police that many within the empire feared.

He looked around and frowned, it was a big station and he had to figure out where to search first.

The strange man moved unimpeded into the lobby, sharply dressed in his dark indigo suit. He was approaching people, showing them a holographic projection of Carmen Dellevon, asking her whereabouts.

After awhile, the man moved to a corner to survey the inside of the lobby.

Something wasn't right about him, the known rich and powerful Aschen mingling in the lobby, normally arrogant and haughty were meek, furtive, fearful, and timid in this man's presence, even if they had no information to give.

"Okay, got it, and be safe all the same," Haruka said, nodding her head.

She owed him this much for sticking his neck out like this, and just like that they parted ways. Hoping she hadn't lead him down a dangerous path, and putting faith in his capabilities, she headed to meet with his contact. She wondered for a moment how he may react having something like her be the one to bring this news, but she'll cross that bridge when she comes to it.

Diego didn't notice the discreet guy asking questions - but the staff did. Before they could notify Diego in person he head off to the interior and the rooms with his guests.

Shaunie Macadden took a deep breath as he stepped out into the lobby. There was still a huge crowd. He figured he'd been in his room longer than that, but never mind. The real question was, what did he do first?

They had spent the beginning of the evening grabbing footage for Club 47. Maybe he'd go back there? Was he in the mood to dance? Maybe meet a girl?

It was then Shaunie noticed the man in the indigo suit. He was lurking, that was for sure. Shaunie didn't mean to stare, but he was definitely Aschen and he was definitely up to something.

The strange man approached an obviously powerful looking, aristocratic Aschen couple. It only became more bizarre when the couple went pale, the man swallowing hard as he addressed the manā€™s inquiries.

Both breathed an obvious sigh of relief as he walked away, passing Shaunie Macadden on his way towards the hotel elevators. He quietly withdrew some sort of small pill, and tossed it into a discreet crevice.

When the Aschen werenā€™t happy to see each other something was definitely up. Shaunie followed the man in the indigo suit with his eyes.

One thing that was good: the Aschen had no direct enforcement protocol here and couldnā€™t just start locking everything down. The other side of the coin was that they probably knew the people who could. Something something diplomacy, Shaunie thought as he watched the man head to the elevators.

He couldnā€™t help but glare kind of harder than he should have when the man walked right by him.

Wait what was that? Did he just ditch something? Shaunie looked around to see if anyone else saw that. Should he notify hotel staff? Aw hell he didnā€™t want to get involved in anything! He left Terra for a reason!

The odd man knew he was being watched and when the moment came that their eyes locked, the man slowly began to approach, the sharpness of his suit only made more readily apparent. It was an unusual color for a suit, but appeared to be quite fashionable. Those of Aschen descent gave the man a wide berth, and he was soon a few feet away as he smoothed his hair down and kept his gaze focused.

"Sometimes we find ourselves watching things that do not need seeing." He said cryptically.

"I'm looking for somebody, and perhaps you can help me find them, child."

Shit shit shit shit shit, Shaunie curse the heavens above and below as the Aschen guy in the indigo suit headed straight for him.

Just his luck. He survived them once. As the man addressed Shaunie and all but called him out for being a peeper his stomach dropped to the floor. It found its way back to his place and thankfully not out of his throat when the man asked for hisā€¦ assistance?

ā€œMaybe,ā€ Shaunie responded curtly with a shrug. But Iā€™m not a child, old man, he thought to himself.

There was a lethality behind the Confessorā€™s gaze as he regarded Shaunie with contempt, the mindā€™s gears silently turning as he considered his next move, his eyes narrowing slightly as he reached into the suit pocket. The plush velour like material was certainly incredibly high quality, and the lapel pin stood out, but was an unusual symbol to those who were uninitiated into the internal machinations of Aschen society.

The pin itself resembled a coiled up arthropod, like a coiled insect with itā€™s interlocking plates. Every Aschen knew it to be the symbol of the infamous Confessor Cabal, a political organization that was allowed to move unimpeded throughout Aschen society, and even the most powerful and influential aristocrats were not immune to their jurisdiction.

He held up the holocron and Carmenā€™s visage flickered into view. The Confessor watched Shaunie closely for any subtle reactions, every subtle facial tic that could give away that he might know something. He was trained to glean even the smallest details from the most stone-faced adversary. He could read a poker face like a map, and glean intent, or concealment from the slightest eye movement.

ā€œI am searching for this woman, your cooperation in ascertaining her whereabouts is paramount.ā€ The man said coldly.

Shaunie almost laughed- he recognized that woman. Man, they Aschen worked fast. There was a kerskuffle in the club earlier, which he had all but witnessed with a front row seat. His eyes flicked from the man's shiny pin to the hologram, and then back to his face. He tried his best to keep his expression cool.

"Yeah," He responded and stood a little taller, "I think I saw her, somewhere, recently," Shaunie's eyes lingered on the pin. Whatever it was, it was fancy. Expensive. If the opportunity presented itself, he planned on getting some compensation for his paramount information.

The lights of Hotel Zafiro lobby dimmed, then brightened into a warm yellow light. Everything was lit better than it had been before as the emergency alarm system kicked into play. The staff shuffled into position, manning the desk in double quantity and preparing for chaos at the doors.

People came rushing in from the plaza as the lockdown notice blared. What was happening out there? The staff tried to keep everyone calm.

After a few minutes, the Head Concierge all but sprinted behind the counter and slammed a button underneath it.

The doors of Hotel Zafiro slowly closed.

Haruka buckled over and wheezed as she tried to catch her breath, vision blurred, she hadn't moved like that in a long while. Being at a desk most of the time has left her rather... ill adjusted to this. She looked about the lobby, the doors being sealed behind her. Shit! She hadn't done anything wrong, why was this happening? Her eyes as they adjusted caught a sight, a man in an indigo suit confronting a young man, the former holding up something to him. Curiosity made her edge closer to see, and sure enough, she started to make out a woman in a holographic display. She craned her neck and bit her bottom lip.

"Her," she uttered under her breath, animosity growing in her voice. She wished she had never seen this woman. Everything now seemed to center around her now. "This is all her fault? Great."

Bolea Nuurk noticed immediately the doors were shutting and being manned by a few of the hotel staff, making sure nobody went in or came out. Things must be pretty serious! She slowly scanned the room. Where was Shaunie... Bolea reached out an amoeba like appendage and pressed record.

There were a bunch of people who seemed out of breath and frightened by the door. Maybe she'd start there.
The front desk was fully manned and everyone was asking questions, she noticed, with concerned looks on their faces. They might have a deeper scoop.
Turning around slowly she recorded the scene with her solocamband and her memory.

It was also a lot less blue in here-with the lighting. Through the doors she saw flashes of blue and red.

A lockdown!
And there was Shaunie!
And who was he talking to?
And that weasel lady might know something...
