Description

Image
The Withered Lotus
Giselle, once a bright, vibrant girl with long red hair and stunning eyes, has now become a mere ghost of what she used to be. Her skin, before a dark tan, has turned to a sickly pallid that almost seems translucent. Her hair, which in the past was thick and long and natural, has become a shocking, unattractive red, too much in contrast with her skin. It has also thinned out, and clings closely to her head. Even her eyes; how cheerful and lovely they were.

Now swimming with fear, bitterness, and malice.

Age: 22
Birth Date: February 9th

Species: Human
Race: Caucasian

Nationality: Terran
Place of Birth: Alternate Earth, New York Haven
Current Residence: Wing City

Eye Color: Green

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 113 lbs

Position: Former Combatant
Hoverbike:

Equipment:

  1. The cuffs on her hands, made of hard metal, with programming and gears that are visible underneath the bits of plastic on the devices. On the backs of them are broad screens with many graphs and charts that constantly flux and change. On the other side of the cuffs, that lead to the inside of her wrists, are small tube-like holes that dig into her wrists and lead to a vein. They are access tubes for needles, when the small A.I that follow her need to inject her with drugs when the haunting of her torture bother her.

  2. The aforementioned A.I that follow her. They are hovering spherical machines with three bright optics and many little mechanics, one of which are the needles that they can deploy to flood Giselle's veins with .

  3. The shock collar. In a time that the serum might fail, this is used so that Giselle cannot come to harm another person in her sudden bursts of insanity. This is a last resort, as such harsh treatment causes her to shrink back into the days of her torture.

So begins...

Well, since the couch was two small for Pineapple, surely, the floor wasn't too big?
Giselle shook her head. Wait! That's not how it went! The floor wasn't too small, right? Yes. And the couch was too small.
Putting two and two...or maybe two and four...together, Giselle slid off of the couch and next to Pineapple, leaning her side up next to him, hands in her lap, legs crossed.
"It's really nice in here, right?" She asked him. The HMU's, either content or afraid for their lives, quieted.

Giselle looked up to the ceiling, oddly marveling at it. Her eyes coursed over little patterns that only she could see on the surface.
"Why would you slow down?" She asked the dragon, half-distracted. She looked back down, at the fire, but squinted her eyes. She couldn't look at it long. She wasn't sure why.

But then, the promise of food took her mind from it. "Eggs," she said, licking her lips. For some reason, a very definite image came into her mind.
"Scalloped eggs."

Not for the first time did the ghost slowly walk her way into the bar. Every step was gentle and light, barely audible. Her form was so delicate, like a wilting white flower, dropping her petals with every touch. Her skin was so pallid her veins could be seen through them, and her red hair contrasted vividly. Too vividly. It was obvious the woman wasn't healthy.

Strapped onto her wrists were metal cuffs- not ones used for felons, with chains linking them, but medical cuffs, with screens on the back showing graphs and meters that measured her heartbeat and various functions of her brain. On the inside of her wrists, the metal cuffs gave way to tubes that pierced the skin, leading to a vein. They were used for sedatives.
The three Hovering Medical units, small metal A.I robot spheres with a variety of functions, followed close behind.

She scratched at her neck, where the shock collar was.

Before Pineapple made his entrance, Giselle turned her head to bring an empty gaze at Sera. For some reason, she had known that the woman was looking. She did the same to Wednesday. It might have been because no one else was, and it might have been because of her schizophrenia. It would probably never be certain.
Even healthier, Giselle still looked torn and broken and dead. Though...a sickly beauty seemed to emanate from it.

When Pineapple bounded in, a small smile graced her lips, and she followed the dragon, sitting at the booth silently.

"No. I'm fine." The flower said, tilting her head ever-so-slightly to the side. She took time to look up at the waiter, eyes large and wide as they planted themselves on him. She wedged her hands between her knees and brought her slim shoulders forward.
"No. I'm not hungry."

What?
This was strange. Before, the girl had shown a voracious appetite for food in Gambits. Now...she seemed quite disinterested.

After looking into space for a few short seconds, eyes dancing around the bar, she came to stare at Sera again, then to Pineapple.
"It's really not like that, you know. I never meant to do it."

"I mean...it was just sitting there," she rambled, head leaning onto her shoulder, hair draping over the white surface, like a ribbon on white wrapping paper. "And he was there. Oh! Just sitting...sitting...and there wasn't a thing in the world to do..."
Her heartbeat monitor on her wrist began to increase.
She got up, gave Cory a mad glance, then meandered to the other side of the bar, eyes lost in some bizarre, quickly-moving world. "And all I had to do was use it!"

With that, Giselle stopped, looked at a knife on the counter, and slowly picked it up. She ignored Pineapple and Cory, and turned the knife over in her hands slowly.
"I didn't want to...to do that. To him. It was the only thing I could do." She said, voice distant.
"The only thing in the world."

She then dropped the knife, and it fell right between her pale feet. That done, she began to dance toward the counter, but not to any specific person. She began to sing:
"He is dead and gone, lady,
He is dead and gone;
At his head a grass-green turf,
At his heels a stone!"

It was a song she'd heard long ago.

When Pineapple did this, Giselle stopped, and was silent. However, she did not look at him. She stared in front of her as if she were dead.
As if she were...
"Dead," Giselle said, piping up. "What if I were dead?"
She thought about it for a minute, and her face reflected it. "And Grennel would have killed me, yes? Yes. He's always trying to kill me. Left, right, and center. And Tora, too. Yes, indeed, Tora.

Giselle did not notice the Aschen or the Taurons. Not at first. Even the gunshots did not seem to phase her. Indeed, the girl was out of her mind.
The HMU's hovered closely to her, almost ready to inject her with sedative, to carry her out, but instead activated a force shield to deflect any projectiles that would otherwise hurt Pineapple, Giselle, and quite possibly Cory, too, if she was close enough.

"They will. They will kill me. They've been trying to for years," she said, eyes growing wider. her hands began to shake, and as she looked at Cory, her neck twitched.
It was then that she noticed the gunshots.
How very convenient.
The girl slammed onto her knees, not even noticing the pain, she grabbed her head and began to scream, then tried to slam it against the wood.
"I DIDN'T! IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!" She said, right as she began to have a seizure.
The HMU's were too busy providing the shield to sedate her.

Giselle's body convulsed, her back arched, and she let out a blood-curdling scream. Even as Pineaplle pinned her down, she didn't seem to notice.
Stabs of pain struck her mind, and her shoulder and arm twisted so it was almost behind her back in an otherwise painful reaction to the images that flashed through her vision. Even as the bullets died down...when they were gone...yes! Mike! Mike was there, speaking to her in the shelter!
He mouthed something...she couldn't make it out...
"What...what are you saying! What are you sa-"
This was the time that, quite possibly, Pineapple had been tackled from her and Cory kissed her. The sedative that was breathed into Giselle was powerful enough to have her slump onto the floor, eyes half-open, head rolling to the side in a dreamy bliss.

The Hovering Medical Units cancelled their shield, then deciding that it was alright to let it down, and inspected Giselle closely for any injuries. Her heartbeat monitor was going down to a normal rate, and her mind seemed fairly well now.
There was slight damage to her lungs, but nothing fatal.

Again, and always, because Giselle was constantly monitored, one of the HMU's screens flipped out and the image of Dr. Lee's glaring form filled the surface.
"Pineapple! Get off of that young lady right now! She has done no harm to Giselle, scans have confirmed it!" The doctor ordered, voice demanding.

Still, was Giselle laying on Pineapples back, eyes open, but unstaring, fingers slowly making a fist, then relaxing. It could have been nerves, but it wasn't sure if she was totally knocked out or not.
In the redhead's mind, the colors were dancing from their objects again. An eye slunk upward to inspect a feather, then over to Cory, lingering for longer than before. One hand attempted to lift and grab at the feathers, but was too weak to do so. It fell, limp.

The flying metal spheres zoomed over to the pink-haired gal, the one with the screen of Doctor Lee piping up. "So sorry for the inconvenience, miss. Giselle was tortured by a mad cult of people, strapped to a chair and forced to look at disturbing events with no sleep for days. She was also tortured with drugs. Her mental state isn't in the best place, but we're working on that." The doctor explained, calm and unemotional as usual.

"Well...it certainly is a good enough price to pay for her quick sedation. Thank you, miss. There might have been worse consequences." Doctor Lee stated. The HMU turned to face Pineapple with a glare, which quickly became soft.
"Forgive me for the glare, Pineapple. She's delicate, you know. And we can't be rude."

As per usual, the withered lotus wondered into the bar, only half-recognizing the fact that she was even following someone. She seemed a bit more fragile than the day before, as if just one wrong step would cause her whole white form to shatter. Her arms were wrapped around her, metal brace's rubbing against her soft skin. Her hair draped around her shoulders, neon red and unnatural.
Also as usual, she sat next to Pineapple, then at the robotic waiter.
She turned her head to stare at Kiyan, eyes empty and...somewhat creepy.

Dipping her eyes, Giselle looked away from the woman. She could tell. She could tell when it phased them, and not just by their reactions. She hugged her arms more tightly to herself, feeling the tubes on the inside of the cuffs pressing into her skin.
She'd nearly forgotten. She didn't even notice them anymore. The three, hovering metal A.I spheres that followed her everywhere. They hovered over her head today, sticking close. Yesterday had pushed back months of progression. It was not a happy time.

When Pineapple spoke, she blinked, turning to look at him slowly. "Yes...quite fine. I'm fine. Really."
At least she wasn't babbling.

In all honesty, it really hadn't been the dragons fault, but Pineapple was taking it up on himself, and Giselle was never in a place to say otherwise. She looked down at him, then at the people he was huffing at. Curiously, she tilted her head.
"Pineapple," she said, fingers caressing her arms. "Why are you doing that?"

When he nudged her, she would quickly scratch his nozzle before the heap of fish came, the smallest, near undetectable of smiles appearing onto her face.
She was more pallid today than usual. It didn't seem like it was possible, but when Giselle held up her hand, she could swear she could see all veins and bones inside of it. She tilted her head, then frowned.
After a moment's thinking, she shrugged, then turned to watch Pineapple eat.
Eating...when was the last time she'd done that?

It seemed...to take Giselle a while to understand. She was still sitting on the bed, looking at Pineapple with a curious expression.
Her fingers turned white as they clenched onto the bed.
"Pineapple." she mouthed, and what was left of her bangs fell into her face. The headgear that ran into her skull blinked.
Suddenly, she looked up. "Ah, now I remember," she said to him, the smallest of smiled gracing her face. Slowly, weakly, she stretched out a hand. It was pale and scrawny, and shook when she held it there, as it it was almost too much effort to do so.

"Cory? I think...I kind of...remember you as well. You..." Here, she suppressed a giggle. "...kissed me, didn't you?"

"Oh...well thank you," she said, looking up to the bubble-gum haired girl. "What's your name again? I don't quite think I remember. I wasn't...to healthy." She laughed, though it was a trite awkward. Nervous, even.

Gian and Ace stood outside, arms folded, rocking back onto their heels as they waited. The sun was slowly sinking behind the horizon, coloring the land pink and orange.

Giselle scratched his nose, the tetrahedron put beside her. "Why did you give this to me, Cory?" She asked, putting her fingers onto it.

"Oh, hey, Pineapple!" Giselle said, reaching out to catch the object in her hand. "You can't ju-"
The sudden movement made Giselle flinch, the headpiece blinking a fierce red. "O-ow..." She growled, lifting a hand to place it on the headset.
"I guess the doc was right when she said I can't do anything extraneous for a while..."

The redhead shook her head and sighed. She looked to Coriander, eyes wide. "I'm sorry. Everything was a kind of...haze. Even now, things are only just starting to come back. Um...sorry if I seem rude, though...I don't seem to be! But...why have you come...?"
