Heywood Raincaller

Pokemon have much to teach us, if us Humans would quit barking orders and listen to them.

0 · 1,470 views · located in Mossdeep City

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by LawOfTheLand

Description

Heywood is a fairly meek individual that's older than he seems. He was born after the invention of the capsule system known as Poké Balls, but his traditional upbringing from parents that did remember that time led him to respect the ways of those that lived off the land, remembering various tips and tricks about how to get along in the wilderness. As a card-carrying Liberte member, Heywood firmly believes that Pokémon and Humans should be equal in all respects under the law, and anything that gets in the way of that equality should be shunned, whether it's the League's insistence on gadgetry, Chain's preoccupation with slavery, or the Revolution deciding to segregate themselves. That being said, a Poké Ball is mighty handy.

As knowledge of the old ways is one of the few reasons for his continued freedom, he seeks out younger folk to preserve his legacy of living free and wild. Sometimes he has to do some regrettable things to maintain that independence, which draws dark-types to him like a Volcarona to a flame.

Heywood Raincaller was starting to look like his jimmies were rustled a bit. "They have already claimed her. We must hurry to the top..." Growlithe simply looked at Haxorus. Those eyes told her all she needed to know--run as fast as you can. Your friend needs you now more than ever. All the while, Heywood was struggling along with his cane, taking it one step at a time. "Great Spirit, please have mercy on this child..." he could be heard muttering on occasion, almost as if he was praying. Haxorus would be first to reach the summit on Growlithe's silent prompt, while the Puppy Pokémon provided literal cover fire for the slower humans as they made their advance.

The 'princess' grinned a bit as Chandelure was brutally knocked aside. "See ya now!" she said, running past the unfortunate ghost Pokemon, continuing her way up to the top of the tower.

Haxorus picked up the pace, charging forward with indiference to whatever happened to be nearby in pursuit of it's trainer. Such was loyalty, and probably one of the reasons Haxorus was one of the few pokemon Valorie had kept on active rotation since the day she'd caught it. Alas, as they neared the top the golurk from before dropped in front of haxorus, holding out it's arms as if to prevent entry. Haxorus made a move to charge right into it, only to promptly be rocket punched in the face for trying. The raptor pokemon slid back several meters in the process and came to a stop before launching forward again, this time one of the blades on it's head glowing with dark energy. The blade ripped into the golurk's chest, doing severe damage and causing the pokemon to emit a loud groan and just sort of collapse onto it's knees, where it ceased to move once more.

Continuing her trek up the tower, the psychic ran past the damaged Golurk, her right hand glowing with PSI energy as she neared the top of the tower. She's getting ready to brutally attack whatever had kidnapped Valorie, it seems.

Heywood Raincaller was content to bring up the rear, making sure Shane's timid nature did not get the better of him. Wallflowers did not last very long as Pokémon trainers, after all! A brief clash signified that Haxorus had broken through Golurk's last line of defense and only Valorie's kidnapper remained to be confronted. "You there, stop sniffing around! We're almost there!" the old man chided Shane. Indeed, the group would soon find themselves at the tower's uppermost floor, face to face with whatever macabre ritual awaited Valorie's soul if not for their courageous intervention.

As the group reached the top of the tower, a strange scene awaited them. A dusknoir stood there as if awaiting them, a crumpled Valorie sitting against a wall. Her Dragonite seemed to have shared a similar fate, the obscenely large, 12 foot dragon collapsed onto it's stomach. They both looked rather peaceful, and yet the implications that they might be dead were there. The dusknoir shifted to face them, it's one eye peering at them in a quiet manner, declining to say anything to their arrival as if waiting for them to question it.

"Valorie!" the psychic yelled, before glaring at the Dusknoir, her fingertips literally crackling with PSI energy.

Valve Vlanderson stood outside the Pokemon Tower, looking it over as his Gardevoir did the exact same thing. Their movements were in-sync.
Pretty big tower, isn't it, Arielle?

... ... ...

Yeah. Pokemon who have finished their time here on this world are often taken here. I'm keen on not letting you leave me though. We'll both need to be physically forced apart.

He smiled at his Gardevoir who smiled back.
So, Arielle, what else should we do here? Filming isn't for a couple more days, and I think it'd be quite a walk to get to Vermilion or Fuchsia.

... ...

I see. Exploring the tower could be great fun. Although, there are plenty of Ghosts in there, Arielle. You certain you want to face them?

... ... ...

Arielle nudged at his side and grinned.
I see. I do have other friends, and we haven't met a challenge we couldn't beat with our teamwork. Let's just do our best. If we get overly spooked, we can leave, okay?

The Gardevoir nodded and leaned against him as he contemplated a Pokemon Center visit first. He came through the Rock Tunnel, which was a rather harsh place.
Tell you what Arielle, let's visit the Pokemon Center first. I'm sure we could both use the rest after the tunnel.

He placed an arm around her as they turned to walked to the Pokemon Center. He took another Poke Ball off his loop of them and threw it forwards, a Stunfisk emerging and grinning with all the furor that they usually did.

Come along, Stunt. Being a double can wait, as much as you love the shock of it all.

Heywood Raincaller was rather weak-kneed coming down from the tower. Battling that Dusknoir and his minions took quite a toll on the old man, who was using an elaborately carved wooden cane to carry him. A bruised and beaten Growlithe remained close, definitely worse for wear, and a young girl laid limp across the back of a panting Haxorus. All the ones that remained conscious looked pale, as if they had looked into the face of death itself.

"We did it, partner...we saved her...thank you, Haxorus, for allowing me to borrow your might."

Zee wandered the town almost blankly. His body was tall and purply, bottom heavy with the upper half slim, especially around his arms. Three knobbled fingers ended each hand. And yet he was armoured, like a warrior of some sort, with a helmet, gauntlets and chest plate.

A visor hid his eyes from view, but anyone with half a mind might recognise he was a Mewtwo. He only knew himself as a clone.

Valve Vlanderson turned to see the man emerging from the tower as a total wreck, and also noted the Mewtwo casually looking around. Yes, it had to be a Mewtwo. No other Pokemon looked like that, no matter what accessories and props they wore.

He had to decide. Mewtwo were always dangerous. Cloned to be a better Mew, he knew what kind of power they had. Alternatively running past it would allow him to help the other trainer, who seemed to be in a wreck with another on his back.

The Pokemon Center was close, so he'd wait and see what happened. Arielle stood at his side as Stunt took up the other, both seemingly watching as well.

Heywood Raincaller had a most unorthodox reaction to the new arrival.

He smiled and waved with his free hand. "Hello, my friend Zee. The Great Spirit looked kindly upon me last night...that favor is the reason the three of us appear before you today instead of lying at the top of that house of nightmares." He gestured to the peak of the tower, where a dark aura could be seen ebbing away. If this power leak had been going on all night, then the full size must have been quite a sight to behold!

"But enough of me. What brings you to this noble mountain village, Zee?"

Zee stared at the man would approach and speak to him uncertainly. Or it seemed so, as he didn't reply for several moments. A hand of his raised to strike-- at his helmet, tapping it sharply once then twice. Suddenly a voice spoke, masculine and likely synthesized. "I am... Seeking what I am. My kin." He turned away to stare in a different direction, but this unfortunately brought him to stare at Valve. People everywhere. And yet none like him.

Valve Vlanderson seemed to flinch as he stared at the Mewtwo. It was a Mewtwo. Like, wow. He seemed to adopt a more tense stance as Arielle clutched his side, her mind sending thoughts to the Mewtwo.

[You...haven't an idea what you are? How absurd. You...are a Mewtwo are you not?]

Arielle's voice would fill Zee's mind.

Heywood Raincaller had nothing to say, but he didn't want to interrupt what seemed to be nothing more than an awkward silence between Zee and the movie star. He decided to take the long way around the duo en route to the Pokémon Center to rest his weary bones. Haxorus, Growlithe and the girl would be sure to appreciate it as well.

Zee turned his gaze for the Gardevoir now, and a voice unlike that of his verbal vocalization echoed through the air. <My race is Mewtwo, yes. My designation is 'Z'. As far as I can tell I am an alien clone.> There was a challenging note to his voice, as if anything to the contrary of that statement would be unwelcome.

Valve Vlanderson kept his tense look for a moment before calming down a bit and placing an arm around Arielle.
Arielle...this is where we simply let him be. This is what happens when trainers think they can control legends. It's simply not realistic...

... ... ...

I understand, but we're better off going to the Pokemon Center before I kick myself later for letting you guys get into trouble.

The Gardevoir wanted to challenge, but listened to Valve. She hadn't strength to match anyways, and was very soft regardless. Valve turned her around and walked with her towards the Pokemon Center. He looked over his shoulder once more at the Mewtwo, before urging Stunt to follow him.

They'd eventually get inside the Center, and Valve would move to benches and chairs within, taking a seat as Arielle sat on his lap, Stunt resting atop his head.
