Name:
Michael Kay
Age:
17
Race:
Human
Height:
6'2
Weight:
170
Discription:
Kay's large and distinct black afro hairstyle makes him stick out in a crowd easily. He is actually half African-American and half Hispanic, which allows him to grow such a hairstyle naturally. He's got dark brown eyes, along with tan skin and an overall skinny build. Kay's body is mostly devoid of muscle, a fact that stems from his reluctance to do sports or to work out.
On most days, Kay's wardrobe looks like they are from the 70's. He also can be seen usually wearing his bright orange headphones, which almost look like lights underneath his dark mass of hair.
Personality:
Around people he doesn't know, Kay is quite shy and a little bit anti-social. He has also developed a sense of paranoia that people are ridiculing him
from afar, due to a lot of bullying for his style of dress early on in his life. Thus, he avoids actually making contact with a lot of people out of suspicion.
However, this behavior is only temporary, as Kay quickly warms up to people given the time or circumstances. Once he becomes comfortable with someone, his real self begins to show.
Usually, Kay smiles or even grins just a little too often, and he can be called very over-optimistic about life in general. He's got a gentle and kind attitude, and he's willing to help others, but it's no secret that he does have a little bit of a cowardly streak to go along with it. Only in truly important situations does Kay stand up for his friends without fail, whether or not he can actually win in whatever fight or conflict he gets himself into. Very prone to being oblivious, clumsy, and being the kind of person you can easily take advantage of, it's very hard to actually regain Kay's full trust once you do something to lose it. Luckily, Kay is very good at forgiving other people, and you'd have to really piss him off for him to have a grudge on you.
Among other things, Kay is actually a very good dancer, though he always tries to hide the fact. He is terrible at all manner of sports however, as well as anything involving math or science. Kay longs to pick up playing the bass guitar like his uncle before him, but pure laziness keeps stopping him from doing so.
Equipment:
Kay's only real equipment is his trusty I-Pod Touch, along with bass-enhancing orange headphones he uses with it. However, this equipment alone has made him powerful enough as it is. As one of the many Music Masters that populate his universe's Earth, he has the power to use composed works of music to hurt others or to enhance himself.
His ability is not without limits however. As a Music Master, K is required to draw an invisible type of energy called Harmonizeo from above his Earth's stratosphere to be able to use his powers. Once he has some in his "possession" he must go through a process called Harmonization, where he forms a psychic link between his mind, the song playing in his ears, and the Harmonizeo he's using.
This process varies in it's time limit, but most of the time, it takes Kay about 4-5 seconds to fully Harmonize. Once Harmonized, Kay can fully use the abilities of whatever song is playing in his ears.
Michael Kay specializes in music mostly from the 70's, specifically the Age of Disco. He employs songs from such bands as The Bee Gees, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Jackson 5, and even some of an early Off The Wall-era Michael Jackson. Kay detests most modern music, calling it commercial and "corporate rock". Despite this, he does still call the 90's band Jamiroquai his favorite band, mostly due to it being his uncle's favorite band.
History:
Micheal Kay was born in Queens, New York City, to a loving father and mother. He was raised with as much love as his parents could give, and for a time, he was a relatively happy child. While he was young, Kay was very influenced by his uncle Rob, a talented bass player who mysteriously disappeared when Michael was about seven.
After that, his life seemed to go downhill, as he experienced constant bullying at school, along with receiving psychological signals that the relationship between his parents was beginning to fall apart. Throughout his childhood, Michael was also misdiagnosed with having synesthesia, mostly because he could see music as glowing, colored strings of energy.
Clinging to the old music from the 70's that he loved due to his uncle, Kay donned a fashion style long lost throughout the years. Growing an afro and wearing tie dye shirts and ripped pants, he only received more ridiculing when he got to high school. Nevertheless, Michael kept true to himself all the way through, and his lucky break finally came when he discovered powers as a Music Master.
Like the thousands of other Music Masters, Michael Kay had the ability to Harmonize with any work of composed music, and then create a controllable energy effect from it. Using the naturally occurring, invisible energy force known as Harmonizeo above the stratosphere, Kay soon learned to use his amazing powers in conjunction with the disco tunes he listened to on a daily basis.
Soon discovering that his uncle was actually part of a group of Music Masters identified as one of the many Circles, Kay only just hit the tip of the iceberg that was the meta-society of the Music Masters.
