Pharo's Story

Pharo wandered in, grumbling quietly about faulty transporters and people who should never be allowed near technology more specialised than a communicator.
Pharo stopped, realisation penetrating his irritation induced mental fog. Ghell was here. He felt for him, since his eye wasn't coping well with the yellow lighting. Oh. He knew what that feeling meant.
Pharo waved back to Ghell as he approached, a single motion of his hand quickly abandoned, green eye never leaving Kai. "Ghell."
Pharo brushed over Ghell's mind again, pointing out he'd noticed Ghell's state. "Clearly." He looked Kai over, mentally and physically, and pointed ignored the extended hand. "That waits to be seen, Kai."
Pharo nodded to Ghell, having read both him and Kai and found nothing untoward. He visibly relaxes now, though he's still quite reticent.
Pharo rolled his eyes, a very human gesture. "Mistake. There's an ensign manning the transporter who doesn't know what he's doing."
Pharo shook his head. "Walking only gets you so many lightyears, Ghell. But still, the Rakinsa's crew are going to be very upset when I don't turn up when I said I would." He scratched absently at the livid green scars across his white face.
Pharo smiled, noting Ghell's gaze without looking, and indicated his agreement. "We could, but he has more important things to manage than not losing us." He acknowledged Kai properly without malice, having lost his budding jealousy already. "It can happen. You're right: it isn't pleasant."
Pharo frowned, his projection changing immediately to something Ghell would recognise as ready for a fight. He spoke to Ehrian coldly. "You will go nowhere with this child."
Pharo stepped between Ehrian and Iante, shoving Ehrian away despite his strong distaste for touching people. "Get away from him. Now."
Pharo reading her the entire time, he lunged at her as she reappeared and batted her hand away. "Stop."
Pharo indicated he was more than welcome, backing up a little so he didn't crowd Iante with yet another stranger.
Pharo stopped dead, hand going to his throat as he felt it torn out third hand. He shook, struggling to breathe as his mind tried to convince him he was drowning when he wasn't, and toppled as "Fear Pain Joy Death" ripped through his senses.
Pharo clung to Ghell, a safety line against the chaos in his head trying to drag him down with the man who had died.
Pharo latched onto Ghell's thoughts and mimicked them, driving out the chaos and focussing on safety and peace before his head really did crack.
Pharo finally relaxed as he began to regain control. He looked up at Ghell with a vague smile and nodded. "Thank you. I'm ok."
Pharo shifted back a bit, giving Ghell room to protect Iante while also admittedly protecting himself from Ghell's nausea, which he really didn't need right then.
