Description

Alexandra May Everett (Sasha)
Image
^^ a more badass, slightly less pretty version of this :P
Physical Description: Sasha has an athletic build and long legs, standing at about 5' 8". Her skin is quite pale and her hair is ginger, while her eyes are warm and hazel colored. When not in her lab coat, she's most likely to be seen in a big knit sweater and a pair of jeans or leggings.
Age: 26 years old
Specialty/scientific interests: Sasha specializes in marine biology, particularly coral reef ecosystems, algae, and marine mammals. She is eager to make discoveries on this new planet regarding marine mammal communication, behavior and anatomy, as well as how coral reefs sustain themselves, and the invasive nature of algae.
Personality: Sasha is passionate and occasionally argumentative as a result: she rarely backs down when she is adamant about something. She loves what she does and nothing calms her more than being amongst wildlife. She will go to any lengths to get something done, even if it involves putting herself in danger. Sasha is observant and quick-thinking, but also sometimes gets emotionally attached to the wildlife she studies and can have a hard time watching nature take its course. Though she is daring, she is also reasonable and doesn't go looking for trouble, and takes criticism quite well. She has never feared the water and is a strong swimmer. Sasha enjoys the company of other and makes friends easily, as she is quite friendly. However, there are times when she likes to be alone and needs her own space.
history: Sasha grew up on Earth in a standard, functional family in a small town in Minnesota. She was reasonably happy, but the boring town couldn't satisfy her yearning for adventure and knowledge. She graduated high school with full honors and as captain of the varsity swim team, and earned herself a full ride scholarship to MIT, where she majored in marine biology, a subject that had fascinated her since she was a child and took family trips to the seaside. She would race around the beach, glancing into tidepools. She interned for a while on a research vessel off the coast of California, but when she caught wind of doing research on an alien planet, her adventurous spirit simply couldn't resist, and here she is.
Likes: people, challenges, cooking, Italian food, reading, swimming, plants and animals, the sound of running water, hot chocolate, big sweaters, surprises
Dislikes: being disturbed while working, cockiness, disrespect of plants and animals, being cold, apples, being patronized/talked down to

So begins...

Alexandra May Everett tied her red hair quickly into a messy bun, her finger slipping the loose strands behind her ears. Her steps were quick and light, a sturdy yet well-sized suitcase in her left hand, her right one in the front pocket of her jeans. Sasha made her way over the uneven ground, resisting the urge to run off into the forest and just let herself run free, with nothing but a pen and a notepad, and of course the plants and animals. The clean, cool air caused her breaths to be deep and frequent, absorbing the scent of the wild world around her. She shook her head, a quick, almost invisible movement, and regained her focus, walking into the trunk of the large hollow tree as she'd been told, though not before stopping to briefly examine the mosslike plants growing on its trunk. As she made her way down the ramp, though she disliked the feeling of being underground, her curiosity and excitement were overbearing. When the ramp opened up into a wide, open space, she hardly even took anything else in; she'd spotted the glass which allowed her to see straight into the river. Any other thoughts of exploration aside, she rummaged in her suitcase, withdrawing a spiral notebook, before throwing all of her things promptly on the floor and kicking off her shoes, racing to press herself almost right up against the glass. She lay on her stomach, her feet kicked up behind her, her eyes skating over the extraordinary biodiversity before her eyes; her pen scribbled across the notebook paper, desperately seeking to record accurately all she saw. Sasha was not likely to be moved by anything for the next few hours at the very least, even if a fire erupted behind her. Her eyes remained fixated on the aquatic life; she had found her calling.
