The Shade dared the implication of innocence to be put forward. Practically challenging the Rahal to say that he was not at all involved in the business Ezrael had concocted at all.

The chosen word that fluttered between the branches was 'Enabler'.

There was amusement suddenly dancing around Rahal, as if the trees themselves were laughing at the notion. Listen? Ezrael? No, not likely. But the Shade would let the mage pass, with amusement.

-the dark man danced between the trees, playfully flitting about just outside of the large clearing the flowers grew. They were obviously waiting for Lumierre to come to them.

The dark one nodded, indicating non-specifically to a tree covered hill, before playfully flitting backwards from Lumierre, like a hound encouraging someone to chase them. There was a definite spring in their foot steps.

The shade continued to dance away, always keeping just a few steps from Lumierre as he dashed from tree to tree, but despite his playful attitude, he did have direction, They were heading up a slight incline with rocky outcrops and less trees than normal. The consistant rain had lead to small amounts of flowing water slipping between the rocks. It seemed that maybe there was a hole under the ground.

He urged for her to watch on.

The people inside looked to be refugees, wrapped up in clothes, bodies thin from lack of nourishment, tiredness on all of them. It wasn't until another walked from up ahead in the cave that it became apparent they weren't people. They weren't dark skinned, their skin was grey, and rather than seeing the rib cages on their backs it was wings.

The people were gargoyles, and the one who had just entered looked more than a little worse for wear. "People," he said, "Rejoice. The prophecy has come true. We have been brought salvation by the dark man. Lord Ezrael and Lord Rahal came together to kill the dwarves who hunted us, and promised us a new home."

There was only silence in response, the people staring on at their apparent leader with no signs of joy in their eyes. There was perhaps eighty of them in total and not a word was said.

"People rejoice..." he mumbled, before lowering his head. "We are leaving now..."

Slowly the group stood and moved about, shuffling, trudging but by no means where they enthusiastic. They had suffered and were still suffering. The salvation promised was no comfort for the countless numbers who were likely lost.

The shade shook his head. There was nothing, but the trees whispered for him. Help the living. They held out a hand and magic slowly trickled out, vines growing and weaving themselves together into the shape of a basket. At once the dark man reached out to pluck a nut from the nearest tree and place it in the basket. He wanted to collect food for the gargoyles.

Though, there was always the time restraint, and the increased likelihood of catching pneumonia.

The shade too danced down the slope, sliding, nearly tumbling, but catching themself with cool grace. In truth they were perhaps only as physically coordinated and skilled as an ordinary person. It was their spiritual and magical side that set them apart. They were quick to begin collecting fruit for a short amount of time until the first basket was filled and a second had to be made, then a third.

Content with the amount they indicated towards the direction that the gargoyles were last seen heading, the exit of the cave.

Turned the gargoyle, facing Lumierre, face uncertain, taking a step forward as if intending to protect his people. Their short and damaged sword was clutched by the hilt. "Peace is a concept that we are not familiar with lately," he answered, though by the looks of it his people would happily accept the food. They all stared on with intent interest.

The leaders face wavered uncertainly and his hand raised from the blade and he stepped forward to Lumierre. "We people are very greatful for your offer and we will find some way to repay you," he said, near-teary eyed. "We had heard that elves were the kindest of races, but we did not expect this." A hand was raised to wipe at his eyes. "Thank you."

The leader nodded. "May we know your name so we can sing your praises when we are well?" he asked, as a few of the people started stepping cautiously forth to claim pieces of fruit and share them with the others. "I am Tor, of the gargoyles."

"We came from mountains to the far west. Our home was destroyed and a band hunted us this way. We once numbered in the thousands..." He fell silent at that point, picking up an apple to munch on. The people were clearly hungry and the fruit was shared amongst them hastily.

Rain trickled down in a gentle shower and nature seemed complete alive. The trees sang happily in a distant song, an almost teasing melody, like someone who knew something you didn't but refused to give it up. Out there was Shade, red glow visible between the trees. While there was a happy sensation running amidst the trees, it was also very serious. Something had happened out there.

Birds fluttered curiously from tree to tree, as if trying to sneak up on the Shade and their secrets, but nature was implacable. A desert rose would not unfold until night time, and the Shade would not answer until Lumierre was there.

Lumi had been out on a walk, complete with her cloak and her staff, simply reminiscing on recent events with no small amount of pleasure. It hardly mattered that she was far older than her appearance, young love had the same giddy effects on the elf, even if she was good at keeping herself composed.

When the rain began to fall, she felt this...electrified, exhilarating sensation run through her chest, drawing her forward. Sharp eyes detected a faint, distant red glow, and in spite of her nervous tension, she made her way closer to it.

There was a song in the air, distant, faint, like a dream of a dream. She hummed along, tilting her face back so that the raindrops pattered against her cheeks, her hood falling back and exposing her long, silver-white hair.

My love, leave yourself behind. Beat inside me, leave you blind~

Whispers from the left and right were uttered amongst the trees, followed by leaves blowing a gentle wind. The Shade moved closer through the trees, one arm raised to gesture the branches from their face so they could approach without interruption. Grass began to spring up around their heels as they stepped lightly across the soil, barefoot as always, pausing only for a moment as if in appreciation of her presence.

Then they rushed forward, flightly movements bringing them to Lumierre and causing the rain to fall moreso about them. Arms were opened for an embrace, though it was not serious as the forest felt, but jovial, a thing of celebration and excitement.

The embrace, while enjoyed, would leave a sense of awkward guilt hanging in the air as the Shade pulled away, one hand lingering to take hers, heading forth through the trees at a quick pace, guiding her to the forests secret. What wonderous thing could have the Shade so thrilled, only seeing it for yourself could tell. When closer, though, their pace would slow, and a hand would be raised to tell Lumierre to do the same.

Shade dropped to a crouch, taking the next few steps carefully forward as they gestured forward, leaves gently parting to give them the narrowest of vision through the trees for a wonderful sight. Perhaps no further than an arms throw in distance was a unicorn, fully grown, dashing grace, beautiful mane, large brown eyes sweeping around tiredly. Their head turned back and forth, following another who stuck close to their body.

Currently leaning against their legs was a newborn foal, perhaps only a few hours alive, standing shakily on all four legs. Mother a child, a true wonder of nature.

One arm was gently slid across Lumierre's back, an affectionate gesture, like a brother to a sister. Then, without warning, the Shade slowly rose, stepping forward and letting their arm slip from Lumierre's back. Out from the cover they boldly walked, but the unicorns new not to fear the Shade. Nature communed with the creatures. Shade's approach was accepted and he petted the mare patiently, leaning down as if to whisper to their ear, then turning to look for Lumierre once more.

A hand was held out in the elfs direction, to encourage her to come towards Shade and the unicorn.

The mare shifted nervously, looking for a moment as though she wished to do nothing more than charge Lumierre to protect her newborn, but they stood firm with the Shade there. Lumierre's hand was guided to the unicorns nose and the moment it was there a calmness would settle in on the creature. The Shade seemed elated, giddy. It was in the air and they were having oh such a hard time to contain it. So much so that vines sprouting flowers began to briefly grow across their skin, before the petals were shed and gently fluttered down to the small foal.

The Shade couldn't contain themself any more, and rather than disturb the unicorn they chose to leave, slipping off to the side, around a tree and a few steps away. Once more the mare seemed nervous, but Lumierre had proven to be no threat. Briefly their horn glowed, and a minor blessing was gifted to the elf. A blessing of good luck. It was a minor magical enchantment, but the fact a wild creature could perform the magic was wonderful.
