A criminal organization rooted in Japanese shinobi heritage. They are a cunning and merciless clan, operating out of Rorian Grand

Description

Description

The Kuro Ude, or Dark Arm, have a long history dating back to the Sengoku period of Japan. Initially a group of enraged farmers, the Kuro Ude were among the first ninja to emerge in opposition to the oppressive shogunate. The Arm was responsible for subverting and sabotaging many of the ruling shogunate's establishments, setting fires to palaces and camps, as well as assassinating samurai and key targets.

Unlike most other clans that faded from existence in the 17th century, the Kuro Ude remained, soliciting their talents to anyone who would buy, often being hired to murder rival landowners and wealthy in-laws or otherwise commit crime to the benefit of the clientele. Their popularity in the criminal underworld was heightened during the Satsuma Rebellion, having been hired by Imperial government officials to subvert the rebelling samurai, while at the same time having been hired by the same samurai to sabotage the new Imperial government. Reaping the rewards of playing both sides, the Kuro Ude were the most successful criminal organization in Japan.

However, the Imperial government eventually crushed the remaining rebel samurai, and upon having learned of the clan's double-crossing made it a priority to root out the Kuro Ude and other similar organizations. Many members of the Kuro Ude were hunted down, often executed without so much as a trial. Needless to say, the clan was forced into hiding, their names fading from history for centuries to come.

They eventually resurfaced, at the turn of the 26th century, reconstructed by the hands of the progeny of the Arm's remnants. Operating much like they did when they were initially conceived, the Kuro Ude were fortunate to be afforded with tools of the modern era, such as firearms and improved technology. Once more the Kuro Ude were able to establish themselves as Japan's most notorious crime organization, revered by other Yakuza organizations the world over.

From here, they were able to expand well into the future, taking their brand of crime to the stars along with the rest of civilization. Finding a home within the territories of the Zorocratic Union of the Xeraph, the Kuro Ude settled into Rorian Grand, establishing a new home base from which to operate, adopting much of the siqari culture into their criminal endeavors, learning advanced techniques of stealth warfare, and returning to their shinobi roots. Armed with advanced weaponry and new-found vigor, the Kuro Ude are a fearsome criminal clan of high-tech shinobi who rival even the Xeraph's own Phantoms.
