Setting
With a sigh, she pulled the hook of her sweatshirt over her blonde hair, and tried to shrug the thoughts away. She looked down the street, anxious to get home. Lochlyn and Jacob had no idea where she lived. The house was sanctuary. It had been a perfect sanctuary for the last three years she'd been in Wing City.
Just as she was about to give up, her eyes caught the face of a young boy that she was passing by. She paused, watching him walk down the street a ways.
"...kid?"
Nathaniel smiled broadly over his shoulder as he sauntered out of the discreet little building, the light spilling out into the night warmly. A female figure appeared silhouetted in the doorway, leaning on the frame. "Same time tomorrow, sweetheart?" the figure queried, her voice sultry and teasing.
"But of course," the red-headed angel replied, walking backwards as he moved away, "Have I ever missed a date, Tali? And blow Arty a kiss for me when he wakes up. I wouldn't want him to think I left without saying goodbye."
"Now you know we don't do kisses, love," Talia replied, turning to swing the door closed.
"I'll be sure not to tell your boss about an hour ago then!" Nathaniel called after her, chuckling as he started to make his way down the street.
"Keeps this up, it may snow."
The shopping district was some blocks and a lengthy walk for Mishkah to have to commute just to do a little shopping. It was times like these she wished she could drive, or even had a car for that matter. As she walked, she came to walk in step with a young man, or teen rather, that seemed to be heading in th same direction.
"Fuck! Don't creep up on me like that!" he hissed, wringing his hands.
Her gaze shifted to the young woman that was coming towards them, blinking at the...animal ears...but she didn't think much of it. She walked right up to Adrian, attempting a smile.
"How've you been? After that night I got a little worried."
As Nethaniel turned towards the source of the voice, he would find a warrior standing at the street side – seemingly overlooked in his initial departure. Tall and proud, Taima was a looming figure, and though her fierce visage held the snarling likeness of her draconian lines, there was a sense of divinity to the creature; a strength that ran deeper than flesh.
Mishkah could have easily stepped out onto the street to bypass the visiting couple, however she dared not due to past events and the developed fear of being struck by a vehicle. For now, she merely watched, listen, and waited.
"I'm alive," he replied, shrugging, "No better or worse than before. I get by."
Something made the woman uneasy. She simply had to look to her left, where she was sure...
...ah. Yes. There were eyes looking at them. She stared back at Mishkah for a long while, then looked back at Adrian. "Just getting by isn't always the best way to be. You're not being taken care of by anyone, are you?"
She looked towards Mishkah once more.
Nathaniel surveyed the dragon-being before him with a grimace, "Who are you, and what do you want? Wherever you heard that name, I'm retired now. It's irrelevant."
At Yanni's final question, he shrugged, "It's what I know. I don't need anyone to take care of me. I can take care of myself."
Mishkah averted her gaze as Yanni looked to her, she didn't want to come off as rude. Her gaze fell upon something across the street every time Yanni looked in her direction, eye contact no doubt warranted interaction.
...was she with Lochlyn, by chance? Oh, she doubted it, the girl didn't look the type, but...it was Wing City. He could have recruited anyone.
"...that's got to be hard, for someone your age." she told Adrian, glancing back at him. "Doesn't that get tiring? Don't you have anyone to spend time with?"
“Perhaps I was mistaken,” she remarked. “I came looking for a Seraph. Perhaps you might know where I could find one.”
As the pair carried on their discussion, Mishkah's canine like ears perked and angled slightly in Yani and Adrian's direction, as it was her point of interest. Her head remained angled to face across the street, though her eyes peered at them from the corners.
He turned around, rolling his eyes. "You try protecting an entire world on your own, that doesn't want to be protected. Then call me and tell me I'm not well within my rights to enjoy some weed and hookers of an evening."
It was ever so awkward telling him. How much reason did he have to trust her? She was as good as a stranger, almost. But it was something.
...and it was better than having to look across the street at a very strange dog-eared person listening in on them.
"...can I help you?" she asked Mishkah.
He sighed, "I don't know how well that would work out." he said, shaking his head, "I've never stayed with anyone for long. It's never meshed well with me, not since ... since I left home." Maybe there was something about sneaking his way into peoples' houses and rooms with them none the wiser that made things seem exciting.
That sounded a little creepy though, so he wasn't gonna go with that.
"I guess it can't hurt to stay a while. I don't know how long for."
Mishkah was startled as the woman addressed her, her head snapping to Yanni. The dog like woman felt her body tense as she was now put on the spot. Her eyes darted between Yanni and Adrian as she thought of something to say, anything really. The logical thing for Mishkah to have said was to excuse her and that she would like to pass by, how difficult was it to say?
It came as a shock to herself when Mishkah said something completely different...like; "No, I'm just walking... er... was walking." how awkward.
"Erm... would you happen to know how to get to mainstreet?" Mishkah quickly inquired as she looked about with a awkward smile.
And then, again, to Mishkah...this weird, weird dog-eared girl...
"Main Street? Just a few blocks down from here, to your left. It'll be hard to miss. There'll be explosions right outside Gambit's, I'm sure, and if there aren't explosions, any shouts or fights or women wearing next to nothing should signal you're in the right place."
'One Stop Joy Ride For Guys and Gals'
One could almost see the skepticism in her draconic visage. Somehow she suspected Nathaniel's reasons for remaining in this realm didn't have much to do with duty, and more to do with personal gratification.
He shuddered, "Most guys just take a kick to the nuts and they're gone before they figure out I'm invisible. That guy's ... yeah, no."

“When was the last time you took up a cause,” she asked.
