Setting
Again he was about to speak when the demon continued, and another blush came to his cheeks at the others words. "I, I don't-" He cut himself off as Darius' eyes settled on him, swallowing a rather large lump in his throat and lapsing into silence once the other male had finished.
He would not be sidetracked! Or have his focus negated! No! He reminded himself firmly, shaking his head rather violently as he turned away, focusing his vision upon the tea. Tea was good. Calming. "D, Darius stop changing the subject... I... I really think that we should talk about this..."
He cursed the slight stuttering in his tone; way to be assertive, Virgil...
"Or...am I making you uncomfortable...talking of the ways I wish to make you happy...?" Darius said slowly, slowly opening his eyes again as his eyebrows gave a pained expression, looking upward into Gamble's hazel pair, cat like pupils fluxing a little as he looked unblinking and unfalteringly.
His eyes widened slightly at Darius' next words, shaking his head quickly. "No, no of course you're not... Making me uncomfortable... I just feel like... Like you're..." He trailed off for a moment before he blinked quickly and tilted his head upward to break the eye contact.
"I just feel like you're avoiding the issue." He said quickly, words running into each other in his determination to get them out. 'Focus, Virgil. Focus!'
"Unless you are fully intented upon acting so much like your age compared to myself...then I think I should prepare dinner." Darius commented, standing upward sharply to his feet as he tugged on the bottom of his gloves pointedly, eyes closed as he was facing off toward the side of Virgil.
"But never mind. You don't want to talk about it so I'll let it go. I was just concerned, that's all." He then turned around and began to walk away, pausing in order to mutter. "I'm going to have a shower." He then made his way slowly to the bathroom, the lock turning on the door as he left the demon in the main room.
He cursed quietly once he was inside, shaking his head as he turned the shower on.
Pulling a peice of parchment from a small shadow behind the sofa, having created a void within the darkness so he could reach his personal things back at the mansion. A quill was fashioned from one of his own feathers, as he set the nib to the page. Finely writing;
"Master Virgil, I have decided to retire to the bar to attend my work. Awfully sorry for placing you into a slump of a mood, but at least there is still tea."
He left the note upon the table near the tea set, thinking that Gamble may do well to have some time away from himself...thinking, that ma
His hair was still rather damp as he made his way back along the corridor, somewhat confused as he heard nothing of Darius bustling about the kitchen, and a worried, almost scared expression came to his features as there was no sign of the demon. "What...? Where...?" He mumbled, eyes darting about the room before he noted the letter and hurriedly read it, face falling as he did so.
"Oh... Wonderful. Well done Virgil. Stupid, stupid, stupid." He scolded himself before turning to the door as the letterbox rattled, several items falling to the door mat. "Ergh..." He groaned as he all but dragged himself toward the pile.
'Virgil,
It has been some time since we spoke last, I expected never to again but sircumstances have forced me to contact you. You wouldn't know this, but Maria had been suffering from a stress-related illness for several months, the doctor's claimed it was stress-related and she passed away a week ago. Louise and Georg are taking care of funeral arrangements. You are not to come as she wouldn't want you there, I simply thought you should know. You're welcome for the news.
Leonard.' -c-
"M, Maria... Mum...?" he mumbled quietly, fingers loosening; the letter fluttered to the floor. He felt a pain in his head and winced, hands moving to clutch each side, fingers curling in his hair. "How could- I don't- Father-" He stuttered, eyes squeezing closed as tears slid down his cheeks.
He shook his head, a ringing echoing loudly in his mind, causing him to cry out slightly and his eye then flashed a brilliant yellow, the sheen now being opaque, leaving no trace of brown behind. A bright light would come from his cards which zoomed from his pocket and began to fly around his form in rapid circles as his hair became gradually streaked with white.
"Why?" he voice was hollow, and echoed slightly in the room. Doubtlessly Darius would feel something very much amiss.
Stuttering, Darius would have been completely unsure of who it was if he had not been aware of the Lady...but this...Darius had not seen. "Master Virgil!" Darius called through, not wishing to endanger the mood further by disrupting the path of the cards, but he was crying..Darius had to do something.
"Master please calm down!" He tried once again, aiming to stand back upward to his feet rightly, pulling off his slender white gloves from his hands so he felt he could grasp a better control of what ever might happen.
"G, go away!" He whined, shaking and hanging his head once again as the cards retreated to whirl about his form once again. "A, a, a number... A number... A number..." He repeated, shoulder trembling before a hand shot out and gripped a single card, somehow plucking it from the swift movement.
"F, five... Five." He noted, clenching the card in his hand before he flung it to one side, a loud bang echoing as it struck the wall which cracked and splintered, the card almost blowing a hole through the surface.
