Physical Description
Memphis stands at about 5' 9" and bares fire-y shaded short hair and gentle amber coloured eyes. He has a lean figure, notably well kept and looked after as represented through his athletic build - at times considered unmovable should you try to mess with him. He prides himself in his physicality and appearance, though not to a point that he is considered vain - the demon just takes an interest in his image. Typically he can be seen slouched against something, a cigarette hanging over the side of his lip. Memphis is also considered fashionable and tends to dress to suit his particular style, most recognisably a t-shirt, jeans and a black coat.

"As long as I am looking decent that is all I care for."

Abilties | Powers
Eruption | Memphis’s entire body is made up of fire and is contained within his ‘human form’. But should he desire to he is able to leak flames from his body and use it offensively, although much of Memphis’s attacks lack a considerable amount of care and precision. Especially this one as it may suggest. This is his most explosive attack known. Sourced from his body he is able to manipulate his fire through his mind and perform large scaled fire-ranged attacks without even lifting a finger. This also works as a form of defense, though its primary purpose is destruction and elimination. Like a volcano erupting it literally burns and consumes everything within its reach.

"Simply, when the eyes turn red it means your gonna be dead, heh."
Advanced Strength | Memphis harbors strength that frightfully surpasses many demons known. For sure he may appear strong from day-to-day but in all truth his strength is limited within his human form. There is actually another level to his physicality, an additional source of power that the demon keeps hidden away until an occasion when he needs it. This strength is his ‘true strength’. Very little would get in his way when accessing this, the demon is scarily intimidating.
"Yeah - I'd love to see you get in my way and stop me. Go ahead."
Heat-Wave | Memphis is able to generate enough heat within his body that he can then in turn project it outwards and melt his surrounding area and everything in it – or alternatively he can melt objects by touching them. Likewise, this also raises room temperatures and causes uncomfortable amounts of heat to weave in and out of the air surrounding him. People may faint or pass out in his presence, or worse. If the heat proves hot enough a fire may form though this is not a common occurrence.
"You know what they say, if you can't stand the heat..."

History
Memphis’s existence begins in a different universe entirely, though he does not know the exact name of this place that he called home, he does however remember its warmth very well. But the demon was brought into this world by a powerful mage who summoned him by accident and from that moment on claimed ownership of the fire demon – it is also how he came to be known as Memphis. His name, his identity. Though much younger then the demon was still the same as he is now.

Though not one to call himself a bad demon, he wasn’t overly good either. Memphis generally viewed himself as a demon who did what made sense and also done whatever the mage asked of him. Why? He doesn’t really know – it just made sense he guessed. And considering he was in a world that made little sense to him the demon felt obligated to keep himself in good favour with the mage, which he did. In turn the wise mage in a way raised the demon and shaped him into the figure we see today. Powerful, intimidating. A demon not to be reckoned with. He was also educated and to a degree tamed by the elderly mage.

The pair lived together peacefully, surprisingly. Memphis adopted the mage as his master, someone who he obeyed and assisted, aided, and ensured everything he wished came true. But their lives were disrupted when his master was offered a position at an academy for young demons and mages, and given the mages old age it was unlikely he could accept anyway, as he wasn't as young as he use to be and likewise wasn't in a state to take on the challenge. Instead the mage decided to send his demon in his place and take the position as Headmaster – a sudden decision that the demon was naturally uneasy about but since the mage asked, he accepted.

Memphis was given freedom to move to the academy and take up the role, as his mage felt this was best though would still keep in contact with the demon, and vise vera. His mage deep down knew that his demon could make a difference – and no whiny students would get away without feeling his wrath neither. So, that is where we find Memphis now, beginning his new life as a Headmaster and seeing what awaits him. He is still adapting to this new way of life.

"I have been given free will to do as I see fit - be warned."

Other
~ Smoking ~
Memphis’s entire body is made up of fire – but due to being in the human world he is ‘disguised’ as a human and thus has a human form that it is contained within. But at times he can feel a little too ‘stuffy’ and needs to smoke to exhale excess ‘fire’ from his body, or rather smoke. This is why he smokes a lot! Like seriously a lot.

"Yeah, whatever. Does it bother you? Do I care? - No."

So begins...

Etelka raised an eyebrow at the master as he asked where the duo went, did he truly not get the implications? "My Lord, we simply returned to the dorm room and relaxed with one another," the young master seemed to be rather flustered when it came to such matters so the servant thought it best to leave out the details. She wasn't lying to him so she did nothing wrong, only trying to ensure his comfort around the two demons. The headmaster began to speak next, stopping and further talking the group would have done. It seemed select students were being given a special task while the rest were to stay behind, the ones being sent out were her group, some strangers, and that unpleasant Hive. Etelka was irked by this, being separated from the master was not ideal, however she had little time to brood on that when what she would be doing was announced.

Knock-down game, really? What sort of nonsense was this? Etelka, the underweight, magically lacking, and weak girl was to knock down one of two strangers in one hit. All while not being knocked down herself, it seemed that the 'headmaster' did not acknowledge her words just as she had expected. What a useless 'school' she had been brought to, the only nice thing about this place was that it gave her a master. With a heavy sigh she looked over to Lord Snow, "My Lord, with your permission I will excuse myself to the designated area." Standing from her seat she waited for the master to give the OK before heading to the classroom door and towards the outdoors, oh joy.

It was not long before she reached the outdoors and the sun assaulted her, recoiling slightly as she entered it. This would quickly become a tedious routine of going half blind and slowly making her way over to the nearest source of shade, resting herself under a tree. Etelka knew neither of the people she would be 'competing' with, if she recalled from yesterday then Bugby was the green haired demon, who was rather athletic. Liliane was a complete enigma to her, so she was likely one of the mages she had entirely ignored, after all the green haired one only drew memories from yesterdays fighting challenge. Leaning against the tree and waiting for the others to arrive Etelka very much knew her only chance of not getting destroyed in this activity was if the other two don't feel like knocking over the pretty girl in a pink dress.

Lapidus Otto

Image

Lapidus gave a few slow conforming nods to the mage with blue hair as he attempted to understand the man’s words and replicate his calm demeanor. But the boy was still a bit hyped so some occasional fidgeting occurred through as his body swayed to either side as he stood on the spot. Mikari had also nicely told the younger mage to tone down his friendliness just a little, as by his suggestion some of the other student may not take too quickly to his embracing personality. Lapidus understood this, keeping it embedded in his mind as he would try to keep a bit of self-control about him - - hopefully.

"I’ll try mah’ best Mikari." That was all he could say really with hopes of keeping true to his words, though there may be times when the boy might slip up of course. Lapidus was glad to be reassured that the man in front of him was his teacher, he had gotten it right thankfully and was happy to have this mage as his overseer. Lapidus even laughed a bit to the older mage’s jokes - - or at least he hopped they were jokes, unless this was how Mikari operated. Maybe the man was not the serious type? Perhaps, considering how he had told the boy how lucky he was to have the mage as his teacher.

Mikari had figured out that the boy was a half-breed though Lapidus had never viewed himself as that before, being ‘half’ of something, as most of the time he was always wondering whether he was a ‘full’ demon or mage or both. "I’ve learned to live with the tail ac --." Red-faced, the boy was taken by surprise when the teacher used some form of magic to life his shirt up and reveal his stomach. "Oi!" His tail was wrapped around his torso and held there by some strings of some sort, before his shirt was returned to his proper placement covering his body. It was quite weird having his tail around him as it was as Lapidus could feel it tickling him, causing a few sheepish chuckles here and there. "I-I’ll try to be on time Mikari, can’t promise tho’." He replied with a grin, though the boy knew that due to his placement at the academy he would be moved to another dorm but this time sharing with his ‘teammates’. With more people around him in the morning surely he couldn’t be late?

Shortly after Mikari transported the pair to outside of the classroom door via a vortex of some nature, though Lapidus resisted the urge to question Mikari over it as he was simple too awed at the whole experience. Quickly after the two of them entered the classroom and made their way to the front. When introductions were over Lapidus sat himself down in front of a redhead who actually matched the same red-haired figure from one of the photos on his piece of paper. ’Was that one of his teammates?’

The brief period of time the boy spent sat on his seat was relatively peaceful and he was even about to make a comment to his thought-to-be teammate when the Headmaster himself approached. With hands to the desk and a nasty glare directed at him, Lapidus almost gulped and sat up straight. "S-Sorry Sir, I-ah’ see the problem it’s just I slept-in..." The man leaned in closer and forced the boy to move his head back a little though only a little as the redhead eased up soon after, allowing Lapidus a moment to sigh in relief. The Headmaster went on to explain his task and informed him that if he needed to know anything further then he could either go to Mikari or his teammates, which was even more of a relief.

With things seeming to be over the boy began to make his move though not before he felt a warm hand touch him out of the blue, the barer of the feeling belong to the redhead who was behind him. He told the mage that he’d see him outside, was that a good thing? The figure had given him a grin, so Lapidus could only interpret his intentions as something of good banter than nothing else. "Uh, cool I-ah’ will do."

When the moment had come and gone Lapidus got to his feet and walked through the small aisle between the desks as he side-stepped by the teachers somewhat uncomfortably - - not wishing to get another warning from Headmaster as the boy hurried to the door that lead outside. But before he left the room the mage stopped suddenly and began to scratch at his chest and stomach, his tail that had been wrapped around him tickling and moving against his body. He didn’t like it, his tail was uncontrollably trying to wriggle itself about and the little flickers of fur were tickling against his flesh.

"Right-a’ these are comin’ off." He huffed and lowered his eyebrows as he put his hands under his shirt and grabbed a part of the string that binded his tail around him. With his fingers pressed against the thin material the boy closed his eyes and thought of ice, or rather the freezing of it and many more cold things of that nature. "Freeze." Lapidus whispered as small, very little tiny shards of ice crackled and formed from his fingertips and traveled along parts of the string. The whole thing was hardly noticeable bar the odd sight of Lapidus standing with his hands stuffed up his shirt, however soon enough once the frosty surface had taken over most of the string the boy gripped hard and pulled the string apart from around his body. Naturally his tail sprang loose and flung itself behind him.

The furry thing twisted and curled itself and even knocked a book or two over from a nearby table accidentally. Spinning round in panic Lapidus sheepishly laughed it off, looking to the teachers and other students hoping no one had noticed. As his tail swished about frantically the mage began to take his leave as he stepped backwards and walked out through the door, though when loosing track of his tail the mage hadn’t realized where it was until he blindly stepped on it and instantly freaked out.

"Owe!" In response to the sudden sting of pain his tail violently swished about and caused the boy to fall onto his back. Gritting his teeth he crawled and quickly straightened himself back upright before hurrying out the door and into the training area - - as he had heard it being called. Right away he spotted his group and ran over to them eagerly whilst trying to be mindful and not trip up again!

Upon approaching the pair who seemed to be in the middle of something Lapidus managed to halt himself just in time before skidding to a stop beside them, his tail flapping about excitedly as he finally got to meet his teammates. "Lapidus at your service! Eh, oh, I hope I’m-ah not intrudin’ or anything the Headmaster-guy told me to come here an’ stuff, so, you know." Baring a fanged smile he tried to be really at ease around them - not that he wasn’t but he just hoped they didn’t find him too forward or anything. It was only then that he noticed the girl had a pair of rabbit ears, hinting to him that she was actually a rabbit. "Your ears are so bouncy lookin’ but I won’t touch them or anything ‘cause that’d be really too ahead of me to do so, yeah? Anywayz I’m your new mage so it’s nice tae meet both of you. You're both really pretty."

Opting to go down the extremely polite method and hoping that he wasn't gawking at them too obviously Lapidus straightened himself before bowing to the two demons - - throwing his head over so strongly that the mage nearly toppled himself over but thankfully regained his balance quickly. "Ruzik an' Kou I wish you the best of luck, ha! I was told we have a challenge to do? Well, prepare to lose guys, aha!"

Bugby Marshall

Bugby listened as the Headmaster spoke and took in his words, feeling partly relieved that he wasn’t going on the mission as he’d probably mess it up, though the thought of doing another challenge wasn’t that thrilling either. Apparently it was a ‘Knock-Down’ game which sounded simple enough, just hit the other two students down with one hit each. He could manage that, right? However the two students were girls and ones he didn’t know really, it was different going against girls he didn’t know as opposed to Cleo, who felt more familiar to him over the progress of the last day or so.

”Hey, looks like if you win you get a reward that you want! You gotta win Buggie,” He heard the feline speak to him just then, as he looked to the cat-girl and gave a sigh in response. ”Besides it’s only girls Bugby, you ain’t gonna let some girlies beat you, eh?” Bugby already looked defeated, however he guessed he’d give it a go and see how he faired. Couldn’t be too hard, right?

”I guess not, anyway I’ll see you later or whenever.” He said and got out of his seat, making his way down the classroom before leaving out the door that lead to the training area. Looking over the grounds he noticed group 4 already with the new boy with the tail who had tripped up earlier. Though shifting his stare he noticed another demon beside a tree. Was that one of his group? Probably, he vaguely remembered the girl from the previous day in class when she had given her name, and possibly ran out the room. With a shrug he made his way over to the tree that she stood beneath, though as to why she’d stand there he grew curious. Others normally stood in the sun, not the shade.

When he reached the tree Bugby stopped just a few paces from the girl, looking to her and tilting his head a little. ”I believe you are part of my group? I’m Bugby.” The boy introduced himself simply, his eyes traveling up and down the girls figure as he studied her a little. She didn’t look overly threatening, at least that was his first impression. Quite pretty too, Bugby actually thought he might win in all honesty though the thought of hurting the girl bothered him just a little, mostly due to his unfamiliarity with her. She was a stranger to him and hadn’t given the boy any reason to seek conflict with her, the demon was quite lost as to what to do with himself just then.

”A-Are you… Etelka? I think that is your name.” He asked softly, shoving his hands into his pockets as he stood. ”May I ask why you opted to stand under this tree?” The shade made things just slightly darker, and the boy wasn’t often in the shade. Perhaps he was just trying to make light conversation, for once. Though things still felt a bit awkward to him.

Laurence Snow

Laurence just gave Etelka a smile when she explained as he believed the girl and thought no more of it. Simple-mined perhaps, the boy was probably more mature in other areas as appose to some. His attention was quickly taken by the Headmaster as he spoke and explained what would be happening. The young mage was evidently surprised when his name was announced to be part of this supposedly important mission, though what it involved he didn’t know but would be briefed soon enough. Baring a grin the boy sat excitedly, maybe a little eagerly before noticing one of his demons getting up.

”Oh sure Etelka, you can leave. Tell me how you get on with your challenge later, I’d love to hear all about it especially if you win.” He smiled to her and watched the girl leave, before turning his attention over to Venom. His grin grew as he stared to the red-haired girl, before the boy raised his hand up towards her. ”Hey Venom, high-five! We’re part of the mission!” Laurence chuckled and gazed to the demon girl, though really he wasn’t expecting to receive any high-five from her, he didn’t believe that was her style but miracles could happen!

”You excited Venom? Wonder what it’s about, got any ideas? Just think we’re gonna be together on this, doesn’t that sound fun?” Maybe he was teasing her a little, knowing how slightly un-thrilled she was to be around the boy. Not that he minded, he could be a bit annoying sometimes, maybe. Laurence moved more round in his seat as he faced the girl straight on, unwavering his stare at her. ”Wonder what the other people are like who are going with us, maybe we’ll make friends along the way, haha.”

Kou had been laying in the sun, minding her own business when she suddenly felt an embrace, a head nuzzling her hair. The rabbit had a sneaking suspicion as to who it could be. Her guess was confirmed when the redhead began to speak, mumbling that he takes it back. She breathed a sigh of relief, about to say something when Ruzik mentioned that she needn't apologize for her wrongdoings. Kou twisted in his arms to look at the Incubus as he continued, anger boiling inside of her. When he finished Kou took a deep breath and smiled, "Yes Ruzik that was a desperate cry for your attention," she confirmed seeing no point in lying. "Now you now how I feel every time you run off to sleep with someone."

Kou ran her fingers down his chest, biting her lower lip before she continued. "I think it's the opposite," the rabbit said quietly. "I think you're the one who wants me." At least sexually; she was not in this relationship for benefits. Kou sighed, "but you keep hurting me Ruzik. You make promises you don't intend to keep and throw around the L word like it means nothing." Kou had never actually given anything to Ruzik aside from the occasional kiss, she had promised him and had told Ruzik if he needed to relieve his urges he could come to her but Ruzik had never taken her up on the offer. In the old days they had always been too busy slaughtering to do stuff like that and on the occasion that they had a few minutes to spare Kou normally would fall asleep.

"I'll take you up on your offer," Kou stood and brushed the grass off of her skirt. "If you knock me down you can do whatever you want to me Ruzik, but if I knock you down you have to apologize." That's all it would take for Kou to take him back, a simple apology but until she heard him utter the words I'm sorry, she would continue to refuse him. Her hands balled into fists, there was noway she was going to lose to this shark toothed incubus for a second time. "I don't recall it being one hit," Kou crossed her arms. "In fact I remember exchanging several blows before that dirty trick of yours." She would be on guard this time, just because she liked Ruzik did not mean she wasn't going to enjoy beating the stuffing out of him.

It was then that he made the comment about their new mage and Kou remembered the game she had thought up in the classroom that would hopefully drive Ruzik crazy. She turned as the new boy approached them, surprise clearly written on her face as she spotted the tail. Kou quickly wiped the expression off of her face, turning her frown into a smile. "You must be my new Master!" She threw her arms around him, attempting to channel her inner Cleo and nuzzling against the boy while shooting a sidelong glance at the incubus, this is what it feels like when you run off with those people. Oh if only Kou had mind reading abilities! "I appreciate you not acting on impulse," Kou flipped one of her ears up that had fallen when Ruzik had grabbed her. "They're extremely sensitive to touch." She took a step back and smiled, rocking on her heels. Her cheeks flushed red when he mentioned that they were pretty as the girl had not been prepared for the compliment.

"I wish you the best of luck Goshuujin-Sama." Kou winked, suddenly unable to wipe the smile off of her face.

"I appreciate you taking the time to talk to me sir," she was glad that she had expressed her concerns to him as he had been very understanding. The Headmaster seemed much less intimidating to her now and Muse considered his offer of staying here. "I think I will go." Muse said slowly, "I believe I could benefit from such an experience." She was also thinking about his offer to remove the talisman although Muse didn't know if it would make a difference since she had no idea what her abilities were. Perhaps she should have them remove it just to see? And then if Muse proved she couldn't handle it they could always put them back on?

"I've decided that I would like you to remove the talismans if you can?" Muse questioned, her tone a bit nervous. She would learn to use her body as well as her abilities to make herself a shield for Liliane. After all, what else was a demon good for? Maybe destruction and getting rid of enemies....? Muse moved back so that Memphis could speak to Midora and Mikari and went to take a seat, wondering what this was going to be like. Be good, had been the mage from the UK's branch parting words. "Oh yes, I will be very good." Muse mumbled to herself, a smile sneaking it's way onto her lips. She would become the greatest here and then work her way up the ranks.

Wait a second, what happened to a demon once they reformed themselves? Would they forever be tied down by some sort of mage? Would Muse spend the rest of her life serving Liliane? True the girl had said to think of them as friends, but really a demon-mage relationship was much more complicated.

Hive

A special task?

Scavenging campus ground in order to avoid med-duty was boring Hive. The invisible walls around the facility felt like they were closing in every time Hive wandered around. He had been thinking, alone with his thoughts. It wasn't just imprisonment on his mind. He thought about his pact with Liliane, opportunities to follow the dreaded mage teachers into their rooms, how to gain a card to prevent the ex-headmaster from exercising such power over him... And then there was that strange sensation he got when Bugby was near that had started to bug him.

Yet thinking without action made Hive restless. His ladybugs still followed Liliane and... For some reason, some of his patrol insects had taken a liking to Bugby. Though Hive hadn't listened in much with either, he'd noticed some commotion with the girl and only now he focused on what his little bird told him... As per usual, Hive had ignored the direct order to assemble... But the new headmaster did have Hive interested, even if reluctantly so. Perhaps he should set a bug on him as well... Although Hive did wonder how long he could hang around the roof of the classroom unnoticed. Perhaps it'd be best if he did crawl in... And so he did, from the walls and windows onto one of the classroom chairs. He didn't like to obey... So at the very least he should seem nonchalant, right?

By the time the others had left, Hive had fully poured in. With both arms folded over the support of his seat, he hung back as he watched the little exchanges play out. There was a lot more passive about the demon than even Hive himself was comfortable with. Brooding definitely wasn't his style.

“So, secret missions.” Hive put forward, trying to get a grasp of his more confident usual self. “We thought we were just here for the gladiatorial games. Now what could be important enough to keep us from your viewing pleasure?”

Though Hive tried to keep his composure nonchalant, but regardless he kept an eye out for Midora. The mage wouldn't surprise him again, even if his very presence taunted the demon.

When the Headmaster told of a special assignment Liliane was quite surprised she wasn't on the list to go. Didn't the instructors know Liliane's background. She was, literally, trained for missions like that. The Muse stood and gave Lili a momentary farewell. Liliane calmed herself. She was happy that Muse was at least finally getting to do something. It was just a shame the mage wouldn't be able to witness Muse in a hostile enviornment.
Then the second exercise was mentioned. A one hit knockdown practice. Lili guessed it was to test anticipation and defense more than actually knocking the opponent down. Liliane would be doing this particular exercise against Etelka and Bugby. She had an idea of what Bugby could do but one demonstration wasn't enough for Lili to know, accurately, what the demon was capable. Lili could say the same for Etelka but the demon hardly felt like a threat. In the girl's last exercise she had been protected by the rabbit girl. Not to mention the breakdown she had the previous day that had her running out of the classroom.
Before Lili could think any further into her oncoming exercise a boy walked into the classroom. She guessed it was the new mage since pretty much everyone else was accounted for. He didn't seem to warrant much attention and since he wasn't in Lili's group then he wasn't even near the top of the list on things to focus on.
Liliane was the last to make it outside and say her two other group members standing under a tree. It was then Liliane realized the exercise my be much harder than she anticipated. Her abilities were bound. If not for that Liliane was ninety-eight percent sure her victory was guaranteed. She could knock a freight train off of the rails with a kick. Let alone a person. But now she would have to rely on her own strenght and hand-to-hand combat training. If neither of the two demons had an overwhelming ability to push Lili back then she has a chance. Liliane approached the two as they already seemed to be having a conversation.
”Etelka...and Bugby. Those names belong to the two of you I presume? I will not be holding back during this training exercise so I would hope the two of you would act the same.”

“If you could, I would like you to keep an eye on Group 1 and ensure no trouble arises. Just make sure no cheating goes on, you know. I will send Mr. Akigawa to keep watch of Group 2 when he arrives.”

Sarah nodded her head in acknowledgement. She knew how Liliane felt about Succubi and Sarah wasn't sure if the mage know that Etelka was one as well. If Lili's hate really did reside with the race as a whole then if she found out Etelka was one then it could spell trouble. At least Lili didn't have her powers. But then again, she told Sarah that the girl could easily kill without her powers. Guess that was the perk of being trained as a super soldier most of your life. The group Sarah was in charge of were already outside so Sarah exited the class as well. She took her place on the benches to keep an eye on her group.

Memphis

Image

Memphis briefly pondered over what the horned-girl had said to him and more so as to how he should approach the talisman. He had said he’d help and try to remove it though as to how he would the demon was unsure. Regardless, it was something he’d deal with more properly after the briefing when he could focus on it more, and maybe find some sort of solution to aid the girl. During this time he noticed that the other students had left the room now, so the chosen students were by themselves.

His thoughts were distracted by another voice, the barer being Hive who had appeared in the class. Looking to him the Headmaster raised a questioning brow initially, though his expression settled and the redhead took a few steps closer to the individual. "Don’t be so dramatic, and anyway you will find out shortly if you can contain your… excitement." Spinning round the demon sat himself on the edge of an unused desk, crossing his arms over as he perched one foot over the other and looked to Midora. "Mr. Kurayami, if you would begin the briefing seeing as we are alone now." Giving the mage a nod the demon silenced himself, awaiting for the briefing to begin.

Ruzik R.

Image

Ruzik listened as the girl spoke and explained her feelings to him, though his expression failed to alter into a more fitting one like it should have as the incubus failed to see what the big deal was. Rolling his eyes a little the redhead continued to listen, believing that at least he was doing something good by hearing her words through to the end.

However Ruzik wasn’t stupid, he knew his actions hurt Kou and that his lifestyle was not to her liking. But the incubus had the tendency of ignoring these issues for the sake of not weighting himself down with this burden. No, he was too free to be tied down to such things as feelings and rules when it came to a relationship. He had never really understood the whole commitment that came with two people, though granted despite wherever or whoever he went to, the incubus always returned to the rabbit in the end.

”It’s always about how you feel, isn’t it. That’s all that ever matters. He muttered quietly and rolled his eyes, as that was the only thing he had kept hearing from Kou. Her feelings. How the incubus had hurt her, whatever he did it always was wrong, and how everything seemed to affect her. Blah, blah, blah. Perhaps that was the problem – feelings. Ruzik was never good with them even though he was very emotional, just never in a good way. His feelings for Kou were chaotic at best, muddled even which often put the redhead off from approaching her for certain things. He couldn’t get that close to someone who’s presence caused his heart so much confusion - it put him off, so strangers were often preferred over the girl.

Kou had accepted is offer which pleased the demon, especially when Kou stated that the incubus could do whatever he pleased with her. It was like the best thing ever and he wanted to win, more so as he didn’t fancy apologizing either. ”Apologize? Pfft, whatever. Though you’re going to be disappointed as I don’t plan to lose to you, rabbit.” He’d apologized many times before so why this would be any different he didn’t know, such a thing rolled off his tongue just as easily as saying he loved someone. He rarely meant it.

Their mage appeared at that moment, though this time he had a tail which really surprised Ruzik. Ignoring it for now the incubus looked to the boy, who clearly was nice enough and looking forward to their challenge. Before he could say anything however the rabbit was already over and hugging the boy, getting too close for a certain incubus’s comfort. The girl had given him a glance which only confirmed the unpleasant thoughts in his head. It was like with Ichiro only this time with their mage - which Ruzik had only just really thought about, as the mage was indeed a boy. If it had been a girl then Ruzik would have felt more at ease however the sudden addition of another male only caused him – amazingly – some anxiety. Or was it jealousy?

”Whoa, whoa! Enough of that!” Scrambling upwards he stood between the two once the rabbit had released the boy, shooting a disapproving look to Kou before eying up Lapidus. Ruzik didn’t like the thought of having competition within their group though the boy was hardly a threat, not yet at least. ”Ok, so you’re new and everything but there is one rule in this group that must be obeyed at all times. Which is simple - that thing over there is not for touching.” As he spoke Ruzik pointed to Kou, as she was that thing which should not be touched at least not by anyone other than himself. ”Anyway let’s stop wasting time and get this show on the road – I have a reward to claim once my victory has been achieved. So let’s go!”

Raising his hand forward Ruzik attempted to summon forth his weapon of choice, though due to momentarily forgetting the talisman that had been placed on him the incubus then realized that his abilities were still sealed. Not wishing to show this the demon tried to laugh it off and dropped his arm to his side, hoping that none of his teammates had noticed his disadvantage before taking a few steps back as he pondered his next course of action. Though as to how he’d win without his abilities was beyond him. As long as they didn't notice his hesitance to attack he should be good, right? Maybe he could bluff his way out of it, or at the very least just try to not fall over.

”Bring it on Lapidus, let’s see if you have what it takes to be my mage,” Cocky as ever the incubus then looked to Kou with a wide sharky-grin. ”Oh, and just try not to lose consciousness this time, bunny.” Raising his hands in front of him Ruzik motioned for the pair to approach him – surely the demon would be strong enough to with take their hits, he was Ruzik after all. Nobody could beat him.

Leaning back in his chair Ichiro placed his hands behind his head resting them there still not to sure what to do. The room was awkwardly quiet, though that didn't come much as a surprise because of what just transpired. Glancing over at Cleo since it sounded like she had said something, turning his head he watched just as she leaned over and gave his arm a questionable hit. "Hey, what was that for?" He said inquisitively. "What did I do?" Saying only a moment later not really sure what he did wrong. Watching as she rested her head on her arms and let out what sounded like some sort of hiss at Kou. Not being the best at reading people or even more so women.

Still taking a second to think about it, he wondered if it was because Kou kissed him, but thinking why that would make her mad. None of it seemed logical, she always acted very close with him but when looking back she kind of seemed that way with most people most of all Bugby. Looking over watching as she shifted over towards Bugby and began purring. The whole situation was so confusing it started to give him a headache. Not really sure what to think or where he stood with Kou, the kiss was oddly exhilarating and she was cute and fun to hang around, but she seemed really close with Ruzik and the two were very touchy. As well it seemed to make Cleo mad, but that was a whole different problem he would have to figure out. In the end he would just have to talk with her to figure it out.

With perfect timing the headmaster finally started talking. Just the thing he needed to take his mind off the whole thing and get down to some more exciting fun. It seemed as if he was part of the class that would be going on the special task, which was perfect as he wasn't as interested in partaking in the game they were doing next. Hopefully they would be going out and hunt someone, or maybe it would be an assassination job. Ichiro saw the school as just a training ground for lapdogs that they were preparing for dirty tasks or to grow their strength to use them later on. Either way he didn't really mind as long as it benefited him.

Ichiro knew most of the people who were going to be partaking in the special task, though most of them were either in the group that ended their earlier task in seconds or didn't participate. Which means Ichiro wasn't able to learn their powers and what sort of fighting style they had which bugged him a bit. Saying bye to Bugby as he left with the others, towards the outside training area. Cleo saying her own form of goodbye's as well, though almost instantly after throwing a look of displeasure at Ichiro. Ichiro wasn't ready when Cleo seemed to lash out at him again, this time with what seemed like real zeal. She made it fairly clear that she wasn't happy over the whole kiss incident, but Ichiro couldn't figure out why. First it wasn't his fault even more so why was it such a big deal to her. "What is going on with you, why is it such a big deal." He said in a part angry, part confused tone. "How about I save you the trouble of who because it's...... Muse, and I'll kiss whoever I want." Leaning in close and saying it in a lower voice as to make sure no one else would hear, while throwing out the only girl other than Cleo who he knew was on the special task assignment.

To frustrated to keep talking any further he propped his arm up on the desk and rested his head on his palm while looking the other way in a frustrated fashion. Shaking his head a little, Ichiro just felt done with the whole situation. After a bit he felt something soft rub against his arm, turning his head to see Cleo peering up at him. Trying his hardest to maintain a grumpy expression he caved and placed his hand on her head, giving her head a slight pat. "I know." He said in response to her apology, as he tried so hard to maintain his grumpy demeanor, though a smile peeked its way through a bit.

Completely unexpectedly Cleo maneuvered out of her desk, perching herself on his lap while resting her head against his shoulder. Ichiro tried to pout, but was completely unable to, the way she rested in his lap was all too cute. Trying to keep his gaze away, in the end he failed and gave in. Sliding his right arm behind her back and placing it so he could rub the back of her head gently. "I told you earlier if you needed me I would always be there for you. And of course I love your company you should never think otherwise. Its just sometimes I'm not sure where you and I stan...." Trailing off at the end with each bit of it getting more and more quiet to the point of it just cutting out. He wanted to be mad and he had a good reason to, he got yelled at for something he had no control over. Though when looking into her soft eyes and feeling how soft she was. Slowly he started blushing when he realized what he was thinking. "Now after we hear what are assignment entails, we are going to have to group up with the others. Can you promise you won't get mad at me for just talking to the other girls." He said with a smile in a somewhat joking manner.

Looking to the front of the classroom waiting for someone to give them their instructions. All the others who were not partaking in the special task had already left and gone towards the training field to begin their game. While the rest who had their names called for the special task sat waiting for their orders. The room was oddly quiet again it seemed, as people waited to hear what kind of task they were being assigned to do.

Mikari stood still with his hand on his hip, clearly show a hint of displeasure when he heard their boss mention about his group this morning. Pfft. He sheepishly thought but quickly returned to his normal calmness. It is true that he has responsibility for what his students did. But seriously, can things just go on without any hints of sarcasm in them? It is his job, anyway. Mikari has made sure that he'll never make the same mistake twice and he will make those little trouble-makers know that he might be easy-going at times, but when taking things seriously, Mikari showed no mercy to anyone. Cold, justifiable and merciless when judging are traits that formed a Dark Mage, after all.

"Got it. I'll make sure to kick them out as soon as I felt even the slightest hint of bloodlust." Mikari briskly nodded as he turned his back and made his way out to the training ground. Midora just quietly sighed as he watched his best friend walking. He knows him better than anyone and if there's anything that anybody shouldn't reckon with is Mikari's pride. Sometimes whatever schemes Mikari is holding really did intimidate him a bit. Quickly shook his head, he turned his attention back to his boss as he suggested that they should have some sort of private discussion about the upcoming mission.

Midora nodded, "That's not a problem, boss. I will come to our Office and we can talk that out after my meeting with Laurence." He said then turned his attention back to the students. He couldn't help but feel that Hive is still keeping an eye on him. Maybe not just because that the Demon was having a grudge for him, but also for the Demon's idiotic curiosity. The Dark Seal that he has placed on his chamber's entrance is his seal, after all, so he knows whether if someone or something touched it or not. And he wasn't so surprised when he found a couple of bugs trying to pass through. Midora sighed. He just doesn't learn his lesson, does he? But he figures that he shouldn't take any actions unless he really has to. Although Hive wasn't on his watch, this might be a good chance to test how determinate and patient can the Demon be.

After all the students tasked with the afternoon session has moved out of the classroom, leaving the remaining students who were assigned with the mission, Memphis turned to Midora, "Mr. Kurayami, if you would begin the briefing seeing as we are alone now." Midora nodded back in response and cleared his throat to gained the students' attention. "Listen, please. I will begin to explain about our mission now and I hope that everyone will pay close attention. Rather than calling this a mission, you should consider this as an outdoor exercise more, as you all will have a chance to experience real combat with real monster, so that we can see how you'll co-operate with each other and learn more about the ways you put your abilities in good uses. Have you understand?"

Midora paused a bit to let his words sink in before going on explaining about the concepts of the Celestial Nexus, the Windows, the unearthly creatures that emerge from them and the reason why the Department has given them this mission. Midora knows that deep down inside some of them won't really take this things serious, but both he and the Headmaster shall see how they take the monsters on as this is no playing around like the sessions before. Most of them even don't have a chance to show their true potentials yet since this morning so this is a good chance for them to make their judgement.

"...As I said, you all can rest assure that the monsters in which you're going to deal are suitable with your current strengths right now. But it doesn't mean that it's going to be too easy either. They can attack you, they can inflict wounds on you and some could even outnumbered you if you underestimate them. Remind you that there's still a considerable amount of them there - about more than 45 in numbers, varies in different types with different levels ranging from D to B+. So a piece of advice I want to give is trying to co-operate and finish them off as quickly as you can without wasting much energy. And one more thing is, all of you mustn't get too close to the Window itself, the closest range you can get is about 15 meters. If you get closer than that, all of your energy will be absorbed and of course you will breakdown soon enough."

Midora then fixed his gaze upon Laurence, gaining the boy's attention, "Only Mages with either Dark, Light or Ether element can seal the Window so this task will be given to you, Laurence. So, after this meeting, please meet me in private so that I can teach you the incantation of Window Covering and give you some more advice about what you have to do." Then he turned his eyes back to the whole classroom, "When you all have managed to defeat all the monsters and seal the Window, an ultra-class monster, or should I say the last boss will appear. Me and the Headmaster will personally deal with it if there aren't going to be any backups from the higher-ups. And trust me, some of the ultra-class creatures I've just mentioned can give a well-trained combatant a hard time. Which is why to avoid any further unnecessary injuries, I want you all to step back and try not to gain their attention while we deal with it."

He then crossed his arms as his gaze turned somewhat more stern, "Me and the Headmaster will watch your performances closely and intervene should any problems happen. If all of you strictly follow the rules that we had set, showing good signs of managing your energy and abilities, as well as perfect co-operation with each other then you will be rewarded. However, any actions or attempts that could prove dangerous to yourself and your companions will not be tolerate. We will leave tonight at 10:00 PM. After hearing the tune that I will play to inform you, gather at the entrance and the two of us will take you to the place where the Window situated. That is all this mission is about." With that said, Midora turned to Memphis and asked quietly, "Do you have any other reminders?"

Meanwhile, Mikari has managed to make his way outside of the training ground and see that the two males of his group are already clashing. He sighed as he approached, raised his arms towards them and telekinetically restraining their moves from whatever they're doing, "Sorry for interrupt your little quarrel, but just a friendly reminder before you continue." Mikari said as he tilted his head with a light-hearted smile, "If I sense that any of you starting to have even the slightest of killing intent, I will have to interrupt again and you'll immediately disqualified. I cannot allow what happened this morning to happen again and surely none of you wanted to suffer. Got it?" Then he turned to Kou, "The same also goes to you, Kou-san."

With that said, Mikari flipped and set the two boys free then turned his back and walked to the bench where Ms. Sarah was sitting. He gracefully sat down on it and crossed his legs, began to watch the students.

Hive

“Kekeke, outnumber us.” Hive chuckled to himself, as he shook his head. Hive consisted out of thousands of insects after all. Though of course, none of them individually had the strength of sixty-five monsters. At least this kind of assignment was familiar to Hive, elimination missions were common under Ervin. Better yet... This was a mission outside the barrier. And even Cleo was there with him. It looked like all his schemes to enter the sealed room, have Liliane or Bugby nullify the barrier around the academy, or even use Ichiro to his advantage could take a back seat. This was a window of opportunity... Although there was one little insurance Hive would create.

“Another dark mage?” The demon had gotten up and spoke to Laurence. “Are you not lucky? You will be taught what we tried to figure out past afternoon.” He said, as he placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. There would be a short cold sensation of a fraction of a second, though it would quickly be replaced by a seemingly jovial tap. “This place keeps many secrets from us, you know? We are so jealous...”

Hive parted ways with Laurence and headed over to Ichiro and Cleo. “It seems we have no choice but to hang out now,” Hive jested playfully, as he put a hand on top of Cleo's head. “And it looks like another parlour just opened up for you, hasn't it, Ichiro?” He slyly suggested the blond mage. He leaned in a little closer to the boy and whispered, “You heard them, they say this isn't a game... But we are willing to bet we can take more down than you can, mister gambling man.” Hive leaned back and grinned smugly. There was only one way the mage could respond to that...

Dúyè
Image

Just as Dúyè's boredom began to mount, the red-headed Memphis finally moved, rising to the front of the class to explain the reasoning for their second meeting today. It seemed the class was divided into two groups, one was staying here at the academy for some kind of exercise, the other group, the one that included her and Laurence, was apparently going to be sent off for some kind of mission. Regardless of her minor annoyance with the fact that Etelka wasn't going to be there, Dúyè was interested to see what this mission entailed. The idea of a real challenge with real consequences was more exciting to her than any contrived exercise.

Once the headmaster was finished with his little spiel Laurence of course reacted in the excited way Dúyè had expected, requesting a high five of all things from the demon. She simply returned his offer with a slightly annoyed expression and an arched brow before shaking her head. She gave a quick glance around the room now that the other group had left the classroom, quickly taking in the faces of all the others that were going to be on this mission with her. With a rather serious expression she turned back to Laurence, leaning in close and speaking in a hushed tone to him, "Do you remember what happened before? When you lost that staff. These people are not your friends nor should you trust them so easily. Our focus should be to achieve this goal with the least danger to ourselves, these others here are tools for us to use and nothing more."

Her speech is interrupted as one of the mage teachers begins to speak up, giving greater detail of their objective. Much to her annoyance, apparently Laurence was to be some pivotal part of achieving their goal. She sighs and once more casts her serious gaze to the mage, "More reason to take care. Don't try to be a hero, got it?" She finally pulls away from her close conversation from the mage and eyes the demon who seemed to have taken an interest in Laurence and approached. She glares at the blonde-haired demon as he reaches out and places a hand on Laurence's shoulder. She glares at him but he leaves before she really has the chance to do much. "Why do people feel so compelled to touch your shoulder? Stay away from those other demons." She sighs and shakes her head.

Her gaze wanders around the room, three of the others were already conversing, only one of the other demons was on their own. The woman easily caught her eye, she had a rather unique look to her. For now she occupies herself with resting on an elbow on her desk and watching the demon from a distance curiously.

Kou had expected this reaction from Ruzik, she had done it in order for him to react. So the rabbit was perfectly prepared to be yanked away from Lapidus as Ruzik explained his one rule. She attempted to put on her most oblivious expression, acting perfectly innocent in her own right. Kou had gotten the reaction she had wanted out of both boys, causing Lapidus to blush wildly and angering her ex in the process. It was weird to think of Ruzik as her ex and quite unreal although once he apologized Kou would accept his offer. That was the things with these kinds of relationships, unfortunately the cycle did not end until someone outside interfered.

"Please go right ahead," Kou said to the mage as he expressed his eagerness to battle the incubus and took a step back, smiling as she watched Lapidus bound forward without so much as a plan of attack. Kou watched with intrigue, wondering if there was any sort of pattern to their attack but gave up trying to track the boys' movements after a second or two. It was very hard to stifle a giggle when Ruzik bit their mage's tail, causing the mage copious amounts of pain. Kou rocked back and forth on her heels, she seemed to have developed a habit of this as she waited for an opportunity to strike. "Oh dear, it seems they'll knock each other down before I ever get my turn." Kou said to herself in mock disappointment and folded her arms under her chest while she watched for an opening.

Ruzik seemed to have the integrity to win, but Lapidus was determined not to lose. Her thoughts drifted as to what could be for lunch and Kou could only hope there would be something with carrots. Or at least lettuce, she loved any sort of vegetable except for the inferior broccoli. Ugh, thinking about that horrendous green sent chills down her spine. Her thoughts returned to the battle present when the boys' decided that they were going to hit each other with everything they had and the first one to be knocked down was the loser. Clearly neither of them seemed to fully realize until this very moment that this had been the point of the game the whole time. Mikari froze them then to remind them all that killing, or any intent of blood lust would have them removed from the exercise. "Yes sir," Kou replied as he addressed her and she wondered if she did anything specific to attract this unwarranted attention.

The rabbit demon turned back to Lapidus and Ruzik who had each other in a headlock and could now move again. Clearly they had forgotten about their third partner and Kou smiled; it was finally her turn to move. She needn't summon a weapon, the rabbit teleported to their side, her smile wide. "Excuse me boys, but I would like to join the fun!" Kou already knew the move she was going to execute, the girl went on her hands on the ground, moving her leg in a quick kick beneath the two sets of legs in order to sweep their feet out from under them and send them sprawling. She stood upright and brushed her hands off, hair turning pink in excitement.

"Looks like I win."

Muse heard her name being called and turned, noticing that it had come from the lips of Ichiro but he wasn't addressing her. No he was talking about her. For a moment Muse wondered what he was going to say that pertained to the horned girl but his voice dropped out of earshot and so she sighed and waited for Mr. Midora to explain their mission. She listened with interest, wondering what classification of demon she was and how many letters they came in. It was difficult to imagine how they were all going to work together to defeat the beast. It was going to be hard, no doubt, especially since no one really knew each other all that well or what anyone's abilities really were.

Perhaps they should play some sort of ice breaker to at least become familiar with one another? Muse pondered. She tilted her head to the side as she thought and noticed the boy from before, the one who had been late to this morning's exercise and was made to sit on the bench next to her as punishment. Was this demon her other teammate Liliane had spoken about? She also remembered him uttering something to her about seeming familiar but as to who he was Muse was drawing a blank. Maybe he had known her in the past? She perked up at this, perhaps he had some information regarding who she was! But no, he hadn't really seemed to fully recognize her and plenty of people had familiar faces.

Muse felt like someone was staring at her. She could feel eyes boring into the back of her skull and it made the demon feel self conscious about her horns. She attempted to sink further into her seat, but with her stiff posture it was rather difficult. Maybe the girl wasn't staring specifically at her but rather in her general direction? Or perhaps Muse was simply being paranoid? She drummed her fingers against the desk while Midora concluded his address and looked at the Headmaster to see if the man wanted to add anything.

Memphis

Memphis shook his head when Midora looked to him and spoke. Getting up off the desk the demon walked over the mage and stood at his side, before turning to the student who sat before them. "No, I believe that is all. I think that’s more than enough information for you all to process and until the time comes you have some free time to spend as you desire – I would suggest you make sure you are ready for the mission, go eat, rest or whatever to ensure you are fit by tonight. You know what to do when it happens, and we expect everyone to arrive promptly and on time – oh, and good behavior at all times. No reckless actions will be accepted when you’re out with me. Got it? That's all."

Turning to Midora the Headmaster gave a nod. "You should deal with Laurence now, and I will see you afterwards in our office when you are done. That is all I have to say." With that said the demon turned and made his way towards the door that lead out into the training area. However, when reaching it he stopped and glanced to the students. "If anyone has any questions or concerns you know where to fine either myself or Mr. Kurayami to assist you."

Heading outside the Headmaster hung around the doorway and looked over towards the students of both groups. He decided to remain there for the time being, especially to see how things ended between each group.

Ruzik R.

Image

The next few minutes were practically rushed as one moment Ruzik saw Mikari, who thought that point of time was a good one for a lecture, before the demon found himself back up against the mage and then all of a sudden Kou appeared at his side from out of nowhere. Ruzik had almost forgotten about the girl, he wasn’t prepared for what happened next. As he felt the weight from under him being knocked over and quickly found himself laying with his back against the ground.

With an ever so slight blush against his face the incubus forced himself to sit up, before gradually getting back onto his feet with a bit of effort. ”Are you trying to give me a heart attack!” He snapped, though his tone held little in the way of anger but rather embarrassment if nothing else, as the girl had bet him quite easily. Sneaky rabbit. It caused a grin to fill his lips just at the thought, however his attention quickly moved onto the mage who was still on the ground. ”Here,” Amazingly, he actually held his hand out to the boy to aid him in getting to his feet. ”You did not too badly I guess. But since neither of us won I guess we'll never know who's the top guy in this group.”

Helping the boy up shortly after, Ruzik quickly returned his focus onto Kou. Just as fast, the incubus sat his hands to her hips and then slid them round to her lower back and nudged her closer to him a little. ”Well you won, Kou… I think you owe me, you know, I can do whatever I want to you?” No, he wasn’t suffering from poor memory. The incubus just liked to chance his luck a little and preferably hoping the girl had forgotten all about the dumb promise he was suppose to give her. ”We can go anywhere you want, because I know what I want to do to you… we can even bring our mage along too.

Flashing a wicked grin he stepped closer to the rabbit, removing his hands from her lower back as they traveled up her body and rested on either side of the girls face, cupping it almost. ”What do you say?”

Cleo Gardenia

Cleo purred as Ichiro rubbed her head gently, lowering her ears a little and tilting her head. She always enjoyed it when others petted her and clapped her, especially at that moment as it helped ease the slight tension. Of course she heard what the mage said though kept quiet for the most part, fighting with her words and how she should speak them towards the boy. At one point Ichiro even asked the girl to promise that she wouldn’t get mad at him for talking to other girls – was Cleo really that bad? Was the boy afraid to converse with females because of her? Well, maybe he wasn’t. If anything he was probably just scared to upset the girl or set her off again.

”I… promise Ichiro.” The feline gave her word and would keep to her promise as best as she could, feeling that perhaps she should get over whatever the issue was that plagued her whenever the boy got close to someone else – or rather girls in this case. ”You can talk to whoever you want to I won’t get in your way, I won’t stop you. I’ll be cool with it, Ichiro.” Despite her words Cleo still appeared unsure of herself, but she’d try her best to not anger Ichiro any more than she had – she didn’t like it whenever he was upset with her, which hadn’t been that often except just now quite frankly.

”Ichiro… I don't mean to be bad to you, but as my new owner I feel protective of you and I like you too much to let any girl take advantage of you, understand?” She said to him, nuzzling against his shoulder a little. It would have been perfectly understandable if the boy was surprised by her view of him - that he was her new owner, but as a former pet Cleo still had the mindset of one. He reminder her of her previous owner, perhaps that was the problem but with obvious differences.

Not long after one of the mage teachers spoke up and began the briefing. Still sitting on the boys lap Cleo refused to move and just cuddling up the mage whilst things were explained to them. However, a lot of the information went over the girl’s head a little, but she figured she’d grasp things sooner or later. From what Cleo could gather there would be monsters and fighting involved, but the feline figured she could handle all that. She would be there with Ichiro and Hive, as well as Muse, Laurence and the redhead girl who she hadn’t met yet. Whilst the teacher got through all the little details Cleo kept her head rested against Ichiro, enjoying his warmth and how comfortable he was. Once everything was explained the girl looked to Ichiro and purred. ”Don’t worry I’ll keep you safe out there, I’ll make sure nothing harms you Ichiro.”

Just then Hive appeared beside the pair and placed a hand to the feline’s head, causing Cleo to turn on Ichiro’s lap and face the other demon. ”Hive-y!” She purred and wrapped her arms around the bug-demon and hugged him tightly. Sliding herself off the mage fully, the feline stood upright and kept her hold on Hive. ”We’re going to be together in the mission Hive!” As Hive spoke to Ichiro the cat-girl just listened whilst flickering her ears playfully. Cleo could never quite control herself whenever around her old companion, whenever she saw Hive she just wanted to hug the big guy!

Laurence listened to Venom as the girl spoke to him, though by her words it was more of a warning than anything as she told the mage not to trust the other students who would be joining them on the mission. His expression was uneasy at first though he could see her point, especially upon referencing the whole staff incident which still stung a little, mainly from the slight embarrassment he felt. ”I know that Venom, and I’ll keep my focus on the objective… but I won’t misuse others. It’s not in my nature, however I’ll rely on you to keep me right, ok? You’re judgment is better than mine.”

One of the mage teachers spoke at that moment and began to explain their mission. By the sounds of it the exercise was quite important and seemingly had its fair share of dangers, but that’s didn’t really faze Laurence. However, for definite he did lack experience in quite a lot of combat situation but he was swilling enough to adapt to whatever requirements there was. Apparently he was going to be giving an important task into the bargain, the job of sealing the ‘Window’ or whatever it was called. Such a thing of importance made the boy a little nervous, but when hearing that he would meet with the teacher it eased his slight anxiety to a degree. Hopefully the man could ensure the boy would know what he was doing.

Once the briefing was over Laurence sat back in his chair and gave a sigh. Venom spoke to him again and gave the boy her usual serious stare him, ”Awe, are you starting to care about me, Venom?” Turning more in his seat he faced the girl more fully and dropped his head to the side slightly. ”Tell you what, if you can break the ice and get to know some of our comrades whilst I’m away then maybe I’ll consider not throwing myself into danger so carelessly, alrighty? After all they’re not that bad and you have to trust some of them, you know.”

Giving her a wink the boy sudden felt a hand against his shoulder, and as he looked around the boy saw one of the other students beside him. ”Huh?” He had vaguely heard what the boy had said, slightly assuming that they brief conversation had something to do with Laurence being a dark mage? However that was only half correct, but the mage didn’t feel like correcting the other male at that moment. ”Lucky? Er… I guess? I don’t really know what you…” The figure had left before the boy finished what he was saying, not that he minded.

Turning his stare back to Venom the boy gave a shrug in response. ”I dunno, maybe people just like touching me?” He pouted a little towards the latter of her sentence, but ultimately nodded to it regardless. ”Fine, I’ll keep myself wary at least especially of that guy.” Following the demons gaze he noticed Venom looking to another girl, the one who had horns. Getting up from his seat the mage walked over to beside Venom, and without giving any warning wrapped an arm round her shoulder and placed his face closer to hers. ”Why don’t you talk to her? She won’t bite, and besides nobody could bite any worse than you.”

Grinning, he removed his arm and straightened himself upright. ”I better go see what that teacher wants with me, so I’ll see you later. But remember what I said, about breaking the ice? Or just think you’re gonna be stuck with me for your entire time at this academy, haha.”

Taking his leave the boy made his way down the classroom and stood in front of the teacher known as Midora. ”Mr. Kurayami? I’m ready for our meeting, it was now that you wanted to see me right? I'm ready whenever you are.”

Her gaze turns, face twisted into an expression of near-disgust as the mage wraps an arm around her. Looking rather annoyed now she reaches back to peel the boy's arm from around her, irritation clear in her voice and her face. "I dunno, I think Ruzik's got a worse bite than me, you should know about that first hand." A small smirk forms on her lips as she shakes her head and rises up to her feet and gives the boy a dismissive wave, "Yeah yeah. Have fun with the creepy mage man, try not to screw this ritual thing up when it comes time to act." She quickly buries her hands into coat pockets and watches as Laurence leaves and gives a small shake of her head, her gaze turning back to the horned demon nearby.

Having little else to do she strode over next to the girl, plopping down roughly into the desk adjacent to her. She turned to face the demon and crossed a leg over her knee, orange eyes taking a moment to scan her over curiously, now able to take a closer look. Leaning back slightly she speaks, "So, what do you think of this whole... 'mission'?" She probes with a question, hoping to ease her boredom by breaking the ice and conversion with this woman. "Can call me Venom by the way." A small smirk makes its way across her lips as she continues, "And if you don't mind me saying... Your eyes are stunning." Her tone was flirtatious but also sincere, the woman's emerald orbs had captivated her. Pale skin and black hair studded by two brilliant emeralds, it invoked a desire within her to paint with such a haunting but beautiful palette.

Memphis

Memphis had crossed his arms and leaned against the wall next to the doorway. His expression was un-amused as his gaze fell onto a familiar young demon that walked nearer him at that point. Pushing himself off the wall the he stood and placed his hands to his hips.

"I’m not impressed," He said once Etelka was close enough to hear. The girl had opted to sit and not go against her teammates for the challenge, which was something he had expected despite hoping for a chance to the girls ways. "Would it honestly kill you to try and make an effort? Cooking and cleaning are all fine and well, but that is not why you are here. Your job is to follow what I say as I am your supervising teacher." The man gave the younger demon a questioning stare, clearly he was unimpressed by her lack of effort.

"Tell me Etelka, is there anything that you would fight for? Clearly not yourself, but what if young Laurence was in danger? A demon that cannot protect is of no use to any mage, even more so if they care not for themselves." The demon knew what he was talking about, being a demon who served under a mage himself Memphis was perhaps in a way similar to the girl, however clearly their views differed quite a bit. "You do realize that this was the easier task? I didn’t put you on the mission as I am perfectly aware that you are not a fight, however, surely merely pushing someone over was not that hard to do?"

With a sigh he reached behind him and dug out a packet of cigarettes, popping one out before setting it to the side of his mouth. Straightening himself a little he looked to the girl, giving a shrug. "Besides, I’m not here to make your life easier, only better. So how about we start afresh, on a new footing. If you try a little harder then I won't feel the need to be hard on you, eh?"

((Hello folks! As you may have noticed I am not MaxwellH, the writer for our lovely demon here Etelka. Maxwell's been having some trouble getting back into their account so I am posting on their behalf. I will try to keep people abreast of any updates regarding their account issues.))

Memphis spoke to her as she made her way into the doorway and out of the terrible light. Etelka never expected him to be impressed, she wasn’t trying to impress him, and her job was not to follow this demons orders. She served only one mage and only went along with these antics because she assumed Lord Snow would want her to behave. Yes there was something she would fight for, her life and the masters life, and yes this demon was correct she couldn’t protect them because she was weak. Why did he feel the need to cement this fact that was painfully obvious, she was weak, useless, unable to fight, her use was to relieve stress in place of that.

This stupid ‘headmaster’ then said pushing someone over was not hard, easy for him to say. He was on comparable strength to the demon she looked up to Mikhail, she was small and frail. He threw her into a fight against people of speed her eyes could barely register, who had hand to hand combat training, who could break her arm no matter how much she struggled. Why flail around like a useless fish, not participating was far easier and more sensible. Then he said he wanted to make her life better, start on a new foot, wants her to try harder, oh shut up!

Her face had betrayed her usual stoicism as Etelka became fed up with his lecture, she was not happy with him. “You want to start on a new foot? Well how about actually teaching me how to fight instead of just telling me to do it. Are all the ‘teachers’ at this place daft, I am worthless, trash, weak, pathetic, phrase it however you want. I was not raised to fight and have never even seen one until yesterday; I was to stay in my place until I was wanted. You don’t need to tell me a demon that cannot protect is fucking wo-“ She stopped her own angry rant and her face suddenly flushed with fear, she had cursed at a superior.

Etelka’s whole body began to quiver as the larger demon gazed down at her, slowly backing away and holding up her arms between them. ”I-I-I’m sorry sir, I’ll try harder, I’ll attack anyone you w-want me to. I’m v-very sorry,” tears had begun to well up in her eyes. She didn’t want to be hit, or bound, or anything else. Why did she have to get angry, had those years without a master really made her that selfish and irritable? Etelka was far too scared to run at this point, she stood no chance at getting away from him anyway. Why did he have to remind her so much of Mikhail?! The moment Memphis moved she flinched but made no further effort to resist.

Liliane and Bugby started to head back but Lili was then distracted by the conversation between Etelka and Memphis. She did catch on to the topic until the demon girl's voice raised. She quickly stopped and her attitude did a complete one-eighty. Memphis took a step forward and Liliane was instantly in front of Etelka. Her legs moved well before her mind processed what to do. To Liliane the demon girl was no different than the children she protected from tyrants on her missions before. She wasn't afraid of a single person at the academy. She only came here to learn a technique to grant access to the many powers she'd stolen. If she got kicked out then she'd merely search somewhere else. It would also give her an excuse to finish off Ruzik since she wouldn't be bound by the school rules anymore. The situation Liliane created for herself was win-lose.

"Excuse me for my interfering but I can see tensions are rising too high at the moment. Now would not be the best time to discuss the results of her loss since I'm sure she's familiar with why because the exercise just ended." It was obviously Etelka was suffering from some type of traumatic stress. Though whether it was caused by Memphis or a previous event Lili was not sure of. Sarah ran up to the group to break them up.

"I'm sorry, sir." She apologized to the headmaster. "Now is not the time or place to be quarreling with the students. We can handle this in an organized manner after class. For now we should go to the class room since everyone's exercises are done. Then we can talk about what each student did and how they performed. That might be a better time to discuss how they can better themselves. Maybe even help them ourselves. It's our duty after all. What do you say?" Sarah didn't want Liliane getting in any more trouble than she already was. It's why she felt inclined to step in.

Memphis had all but took a mere single step towards the girl and before he knew it Liliane was stood before him, protecting the demon-girl from what he could gather by her position. Then, the other demon-teacher approached to ‘break them-up’ from what he deduced by her sudden intrusion. The whole situation bothered him immensely and he did not appreciate it in the slightest, especially as he was only trying to talk to the girl. What did they view him as? Some monster?

"Silence!" He said to both the students and teacher, giving them all an equally displeasured glare. He could see that Etelka was fearful by that point, as to why was beyond him however it seemed to spark the interests of the other two as how now found himself surrounded with them. "Unless you are my master then you do not have the right to tell me when and where I shall conduct myself, as I will do as I see fit when, where and however I please. Understand, Miss Rayne? That is what I say." Memphis looked to the woman and spoke quite patronizingly to her, though it wasn’t surprising for Memphis to view others as below him, after all he was a superior demon in his own opinion and right and would not be slow in demonstrating it if he had to.

"Anyway, we were not quarreling. I was talking with my student calmly and she overreacted, the cause for her outburst is beyond me." As he explained briefly what happened the demon gave Etelka a quick glance, clearly not amused by her reaction though he would say no more of it. What was done was done. That was the end of it. What was more important was ensuring he too did not kick off, as Memphis would have said a lot worse, perhaps even done a lot worse without the need for words. "Furthermore, I do not take to this intrusion kindly. What I do with my students is of no concern to others, especially when they should be more worried about their own. And, should any student dare to stand against me then they will be further punished as consequence, do you understand Liliane? Etelka?"

They probably didn’t care going by looks. It was bothersome to have others take his ruling so lightly, or maybe the Headmaster just hadn’t expected to be placed with students as strong willed as some of them were. "To put it simply - I’ll kick your ass if any of you try another stunt like this, and if you’ve got a problem with how I do things then take it up with one of the mages as I don’t have time for your whining.” With that said the Headmaster turned round, appearing even more displeasured by the trio as he took a step through the door. However, stopping himself he set a hand to the doorframe and turned to look at them again, briefly.

"Oh, I would suggest taking her somewhere and calming her down, students have free time so you are free to do as you see fit, though just do not disturb me as I will be having a meeting with Mr. Kurayami. And Etelka, should you ever feel the need to come and apologize to me for your outburst then I will teach you to fight in return. If you want to improve yourself then I will help you, if you wish it."

The Headmaster left the three females and entered the classroom fully before addressing the students who still remained in the room. "Listen up, you all know what is expect of you for this mission. For the time being perhaps it would be wise to get to know your fellow teammates for this exercise, otherwise I will be meeting with Mr. Kurayami in the meantime. We’ll be in our office if you require us."

The Headmaster took his leave promptly and left the classroom, despite trying to keep his voice relatively calm the man could not quite entirely shift his displeasure from his expression due his prior talk outside. Whether the students had overhead it he didn't know, or care. Regardless he made his way to his office and entered, sitting himself at his desk as he waited the arrival of Midora once he was done with Laurence. Though as the demon sat at his desk he placed his hands to it's surface, forming a small flame in the middle of where his hands clasped together. He missed his flame. Before he moved to the academy Memphis could use his fire whenever he wished, mostly. His master was flexible on the odd occasion however he wasn’t allowed to use it carelessly now, but he’d have his little moments.
