With a mother that wrote fantasy novels and a father teaching science classes, Ezra grew up in the juxtaposition of both the magical and the mundane. Always too curious for his own good, his first contact with the unseen was almost his last, being saved from enthrallment by a warden. Since then he has made it his goal to understand magic and its origins.
Abiding the rules of the council, he worked hard to acquire a position in which he could come in contact with those using forbidden abilities.

So begins...

Alexander choked back a laugh when he heard mention of holy water soaked blades. usually lopping off the creatures head was more then sufficient to kill most things, at least until they came back. "Newcomer this one calls me.... cute. Your sword is nice but it looks nothing like the one it was designed off of. It's too...... fancy."

Lex was all too familiar with the blade. Still if battle worthy who was he to tell the guy he shouldn't bloody such a pretty blade. Lex reached out and offered Molly a copper mug with a tin lining. "Two sugars one cream please, and thank you and please call me Alexander... Every one."

The tone was pretty clear he didn't want to acknowledge the existence of the council right now. He was here to escape the politics. His expression was warn. He was a soldier not a politician put him in a good clean fight, or even a dirty one for that matter any day he'd be in his element. He was so angry with Sir William for naming him his seat proxy.

Catherine just raised an eyebrow at Rafael's remark, and stood there biting her tongue. She hoped that the next guy they encountered kidnapped him instead of Brandon, it would be a relief not to have to figure out what brand of insanity she would have to sort out that week. "Last I checked medieval armor wasn't appropriate equipment for officers.." Catherine pointed out testily.

Taking a sip of the coffee Molly had set on the edge of her desk, she made a note to remind Molly that while she appreciated the gesture, she really didn't have to fetch coffee or anything for anyone really; they weren't in the fae courts anymore. Sighing slightly she soldiered on through her notes, messy though they were. The report DPD had given her had been lacking, and she could feel a migraine beginning to try and inch it's way across her temples.

Though currently she was trying to process why and how Alexander was there. Wasn't he supposed to be off with the Council? "Alexander..." Catherine said fighting to keep the edge out of her voice. The entire staff meeting had just been derailed, this was the second time it had happened this month. "Please, have a seat." She added tightening her grip on the projector remote. This had just made everything more complicated.

One day, Molly would get out of the habits court had trained into her. Today was not that day. Tomorrow wasn't looking good either. She had been the equivalent of Catherine's personal equivalent in the courts. She couldn't set that to the side despite wanting to. Deftly, she fixed Alexander's coffee and handed the unusual mug back to him. At least it meant she didn't have to dig out a clean mug from somewhere, even if she hadn't seen a copper mug before. Either way, she sipped her own.

Still, it looked like everything was going off topic. "You mentioned there had been a rash of child murders in Dallas?" Molly tried to bring the meeting back on topic. "While that's unusual, and very sad, what brings it to MCU's table?" They didn't handle every murder in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Catherine just rolled her eyes and looked up at the ceiling, slowly counting to ten and muttering something under her breath. Today was trying what little patience she had left after speaking with Laura's parents. She had never seen a more resistant pair of people, convinced that things of a spiritual nature were not supernatural, but somehow inherently good every time. 'For the love of god.. I hope I don't have to deal with them agian.' She thought as she tried to reorganize her thoughts.

While she understood the message sent through the phrase from Alexander, she didn't know if she was ready to deal with the chaos associated with Alexander. This was one of the days where she didn't know if she was ready to deal with people even.

"Well that is one opinion, but mostly what I have is a report that's lacking information. What I can tell you," She said as she changed the slide up on the projector. "Is that many of the victims have been under the age of ten, primarily male."

Catherine truly hoped that this wasn't just more of the same from the previous case.

Under the age of ten, primarily male. Molly considered this and frowned. It sounded familiar. Very familiar. Molly looked of the slide and frowned. "That's... I listened to the interview logs of the most recent case. Jung Chu mentioned something about a ritual, and how one of the sacrifices had died for it, but the other was still alive. Do we think it may be related?" Or did she just have the last case on the brain.

The male sacrifice had died, didn't he? Molly tried to recall. She sincerely hoped that wasn't the case of course, but it may be another chance to grab Hanh Dam, if it was. Why was it that they could never catch the sickos before they struck again?

"The armor was also blessed by the bishop. Took awhile to fill up the tub to soak it in though. But I have a full set of holy armor along with sword. I left the shield at home though. But who are we going to use as bait? I think we could dress Molly up to look like a ten year old." Rafael's tone hinted at him being playful now if not irritating.

"If anything I toss this all back in the Jeep and get more guns but that's no fun."

"Not as fun but a shoot out between street clothed agency detectives of some nature and a criminal element is far less likely to raise suspicions, then a medieval or early renaissance armor clad paladin doing battle with a dragon down fifth and main." Wow was this really happening, was Lex actively choosing to adult? It was then that he felt an old familiar presence in his head, telling him he needed to see her after this is over. Focusing his thoughts so Catherine could read them more clearly. 'Sure thing boss, your office after the meeting. I think I still know the way. For the way is the medieval wanna be for real? I swear I'm going to start calling him Lex Jr. He's like me... when I was young and stupid..... and fundamentally broken.' His attention abruptly turned back to the conversation at hand.

"I think while I appreciate your zeal for giving a foe the cold steal, a more subtle approach would be prudent. The veal is still healing after the events of the Titan escape from the Chilean volcano some 20 years ago. People are finally allowing the events that transpired to slip from clear memory and rationalize it for something they can wrap their rational minds around. In short the unseen is starting to become that again, unseen. Lets not destroy the delicate mending that has taken place by resorting to our lesser demons and desire to stab leprechauns for want of our desire to see if they'll spill out lucky charms."

At this point, Ezra was just relieved they hadn’t decided to duel it out, Warden Dumitrescu seemed on edge enough as it was. But the discussion was continuing, too far ahead in the problem at hand.
He listened in silence for a while, finally clearing his throat after Councilor Summers spoke. “I hate to be the one to curb your enthusiasm, however I suggest we wait until the Warden has given us all the details on the case before we talk about taking down suspects we don’t even have so far.” He turned towards the two, propping his arm on the backrest of the chair as he did. While he did agree with the subtle approach, voicing his opinion might just lead to the discussion flaming up again.
Those dead children - if Hahn Dam was involved, his crime had evolved concerningly fast. Or depending on how long the DPD had been holding on to these files, this could have been valuable information.
It seemed more likely another culprit was involved, as much as he wanted Dam to be at fault, or better yet, already behind bars.

The junior officer refused to even acknowledge Rafael's remarks, the asshole. Her as bait! She was taller than him by nearly half a foot, the midget. He'd make a much better ten year old than she would. The tallest individual in the room frowned as she considered the information, but remained quiet for a moment or two.

She'd plan retribution against Fisher later, when she had say, duct tape, a gag, and perhaps access to Brandon who was ridiculously easy to black mail. Besides, surely their team didn't need more than one holy warrior here, and Molly was more than enough, as far as she was concerned. Fisher could go suck eggs.

Which would be difficult once she had duct taped him to the ceiling with a gag in his mouth. But he'd manage, she was sure.

Standing there dumbfounded, Catherine wasn't even sure anyone was listening. "That's enough, next person to derail this meeting will be in serious trouble." It wasn't much of a threat, but then again it had been awhile since she had really had to deal with officers with disciplinary issues. "Fisher, shut up about your god damned armor, you aren't allowed to have it in the field. The goal here isn't to call attention to ourselves." She added, pointing a finger at Rafael, giving him a death glare.

Shooting the same glare at Alexander, she desperately wished for him to stop antognizing the other officers. His brand of crazy she didn't want or need today. Rafael mean while was on a roll, insisting that they dress Molly up as a ten year old, that was laughable on a good day, irritating in extreme on a bad day.

"Now sit down, shut up and put that thing away Fisher, before I decide to use to slit you stem from stern." She said coldly. If he wanted to be a clown, then he needed to go elsewhere; Catherine was not going to tollerate another derailed meeting.

Turning to Ezra, she gave him a slight nod of thanks, "Thank you Warden Bennet. It seems you have your self together, unlike other people here today."

Fisher was officially on her shit list, and wouldn't coming off of it anytime soon.

Since it was part of the job description, he really couldn’t see it as much of a compliment. It also made Ezra feel like a schoolboy again, and remembering the way classmates had seen his behaviour back then, he quietly slid back in his chair, hoping tall Miss Bronson would hide him from the sight of the others. He did give Warden Dumitrescu something between an embarrassed nod and a shrug in return, before speaking up once more. “Miss Bronson raised an interesting point I’m also curious about, are there any signs we might be dealing with necromancy again?”, he asked, voice steady but gentle, hoping the question might help focus everyone again. “Or why did the DPD transfer the case to us?”

Rafael held up his hands in defeat this time. He took his seat and remained quiet as he waited for the others to dish out the details. He was more of the tactical operations officer than anything else a to the why we were doing this. He took over the how they would deal with it.

"Now that we're all behaving like adults..." Catherine said looking at the group with impatience. One more interruption and they would have to make an appointment to go over the case, with her, on her time; and it wouldn't be convenient for any of them. "To answer your question Bennet, DPD sent it over because it's a cold case, but in light of the recent insanity... well they thought it would be better if we handled the case." She said flicking through to the next slide. At least things had calmed down for now, but the headache was

"But after talking to a detective with DPD, it turns out that there has been a new development in the case. Roughly two weeks ago a child was dumped behind a theater in Dallas in a what I'd say is a semi-wooded area." Catherine continued as she shuffled through her notes to find her next point of reference. "But the cause of death is mostly unknown, there were not ligature marks or wounds on the body. However," She added once again flicking through the slides to one that she'd managed DPD to send over. "There were unusual markings on the body, but not like what we tend to expect with rune work."

The slide in question showed a small child's hand with what appeared to be ink or henna on it. "After some research, I believe that this may have something to do with Chakra's or energy points we've yet to encounter on the regular basis."

"The fact that it's only boys being sacrificed is some what suspect to me but that mark on the hand. It's ancient Greek. It's closest representation in modern English is... Duality but the actual translation is a bit more... complex. I have a suspicion but I'll have to talk to a Goddess and see if she has any worshippers in this area. If she does and if they're the ones doing this I don't expect it to be a very happy conversation. She may not like men in general, but she doesn't condone the slaughter of innocence regardless the gender. In the mean time Catherine could you arrange for me to examine the body? There are more... tell tail signs that I need to look for." Lex wasn't trying to agitate people he was trying to point out that the man with the sword was drawing too much attention to him self. Still Catherine said to stop so he stopped.

Talk to a Goddess. Councilors were weird. Did he mean through a medium, like with Ishae? Or prayer? Or was he a medium and it just wasn't near as obvious as it was with Ishae, who definitely played it up. Molly very firmly decided not to ask. "Chakra." She murmured, largely to herself. She considered this some. She'd have to do some research, but it wouldn't be too hard, she hoped. There were libraries she could consult after all, and very little stood between Molly and research. Her hand went to adjust a pair of glasses that were no longer there. They had just been plain glass after all, meant more to distinguish between two 'twins' than anything else.

"If it's Chakra, we can likely rule out Hanh Dam, can't we? He showed no signs of any knowledge of it, and his rune work was effective, but rudimentary. He would have used something else if he knew it." It lacked all finesse and true skill. Molly, meaning of the symbols aside, had not been impressed as she helped break down that scene. There was no finesse, no skill, no understanding of runes displayed at all. Just brute force.

Catherine nodded as she went to the next slide. "I'm sure we can get you in to talk to the coroner and DPD detective on this case." She said as she scribbled herself a reminder in her notes. She could probably pass him off as another Warden or something to that extent, she would however have to ask the current Director about it.

"Honestly Molly, we can't say yes and we can't say no on the linkage between Hanh Dam and this. Just because a person appears to or says one thing, doesn't mean it's something else entirely." Catherine said, answering Molly's question. The unseen could be full of contradictions, falsified information and all other manner of secrets. "But, if no one else has any other comments or questions, I think we're done here." She added eager to leave what felt like a too hot and stuffy room.

There was no denying Ezra felt weird being here, surrounded by students far younger than him drinking overpriced coffee. But it was close to the MCU and the shop owners were experts at brewing tea, which he had come to appreciate. Putting some tea leaves into hot water shouldn’t be too difficult, and yet more often than not he found himself disappointed.
He also blended in fine with the gathered hipster crowd, reading a leather bound book and wearing casual clothing. Casual for him, at least, meaning he left the tweed suit jacket at home in favor of a knit cardigan however never able to fully commit to anything but a dress shirt and tie.
For the twelfth time in five minutes he checked his messages, making sure he was there at the right time and place. Ezra had arrived far too early, and even now they weren’t arranged to meet for another three minutes. Hopefully this wouldn’t evolve into some sort of a compulsion.
He concentrated on the pages again, not noticing the necromancer had entered until he was right in front of him. “Brandon, you’re here”, he exclaimed, getting up and extending a hand. “You are obviously aware of this. How are you?”

Brandon shook the others hand and took a seat. "I am here. I'm not late am I? And I'm doing fine." He said, rather pleased with himself. Here they were, getting coffee. Even if the other likely didn't consider it a date, Brandon didn't mind. Ezra was cute, and he could always day dream about it being just that. And if nothing ever came of it, well no harm done. The necromancer smiled to Ezra with his most charming smile. It made him look rather rakish, if he did say so himself.

"How are you? Are things calming down at the office?" His arms were still wrapped, but it was cool enough he could get away with a lightweight long sleeve shirt, so it wasn't so obvious now. Luckily, it was the only remaining hint of his injuries. He was largely physically recovered from his time in the dungeons of his ex-lover. Mentally though, there were still signs that he was tired, not sleeping well. It was hard to sleep well after that. Some days he wondered how his childhood could not bother him at all, but his adult life ended up giving him nightmares. His childhood had certainly been more traumatic, hadn't it? More people had died and he had suffered more, if nothing else, but it never bothered him lately.

“Not at all”, Ezra assured him, sitting down across from him and wrapping his fingers around the warm cup. Holding on to it would grant him safety from lashing out into wild gestures and give him a place to look at if he found himself running out of words. There weren’t any too noticeable traces of injury left from what he could tell, but Brandon didn’t seem to be getting enough rest. He wanted to press on - and found himself distracted by questions, drawing a laugh out of him. “I am starting to doubt they ever do. It’s fine though. As am I, for that matter.” It was impossible not to return the smile, silently studying the necromancers face. There were definitely traces of exhaustion to be found there, he found them often in the mirror. His expression turned serious again. “Have young Miss Seychelle and you been able to recover?” He promised himself to keep the conversation more casual afterward, but he was still worried. Ezra wondered if it would ever stop now.
