The World of Gavilla

The World of Gavilla

0 INK

Gavilla is a parallel reality to Earth, but magic works and can be manipulated. The Queen of Crix is recruiting people to defeat raiders and protect the country.

7,590 readers have visited The World of Gavilla since gaiadarkstar created it.

Introduction

Gavilla is a world parallel to Earth, similar in many ways, such as the landmasses and oceans, although they have different names. It has architecture that resembles medieval earth and the style of dress. Even some of the people who are born on earth have a duplicate born on Gavilla, although their personalities and experiences are often very different. Another difference is that fantasy creatures such as dragons, elves, ogres, trolls and dwarfs exist. The biggest difference is that magic exists and is commonly used by many; the other is that the technology is surprisingly advanced. Details are described later.
Gavilla's geography is almost identical to earth but with slightly different place names and no high rise cities.

Info, need to know about Gavilla

Technology
Video phones are located in most homes and there are also public access terminals that include both a video phone and a data cube.

Data cube- is similar to a computer but it is voice activated and the display is holographic and three dimensional.
There are ground and sky rail runners that are monorails that run between many of the major cities. There is electricity but much of that is run through solar panels, wind and water energy, and geothermal energy. They do not have space travel though and although robotics are developed they are seldom used since magic can do many mundane tasks more efficiently.

History: History is not really well known by most of the common people they only know a few stories and legends mostly about the Dark lady and her mate the Dark Prince Lucivon and how they ruled over most of the world with an iron fist, killing any who resisted and terrorizing many for the fun of it. The ancient Gods pooled their power and managed to seal her away but Lucivon escaped. They kept the details a secret hoping Lucivon wouldn’t learn and find a way to release her because they would not be able to seal her again. Lucivon needs to know more and many people hear horrible tales of his efforts to find her.

Politics on Gavilla is mostly made up of monarchies or dictatorships with a few warlords in the barbarian lands. Crix is a major city and is governed by a queen, but unlike other monarchies, she was elected by the people and the people vote on all the major issues with the queen as the deciding vote.

There have been many prophets and people claiming to be prophets who have made numerous prophecies over the years. Many have come true but many more still clutter up the shelves of libraries everywhere. The problem is that most were written in the old language which is only rarely used now in magic or by the ancient races. Many people, even scholars have trouble interpreting the difficult language so some of the prophecies might have been translated incorrectly. Another problem is different prophets saw things in different ways and it is hard to connect the right prophecies together but People still listen to them. There are many others but many people still look for one about something called the Darkstar, not really knowing what it is and how it can help them.

Recently many creatures such as ogres, trolls, Drow, gnolls, and other groups have increased their attacks on people and have even banded together to attack some of the larger towns. People are increasingly afraid to travel and many people are moving to the big cities for protection. Queen Imani of Crix has started recruiting as many people as she can to try to stop these attacks and a few for a special mission that she will reveal when those she deems worthy are recruited.

There are many Kingdoms scattered over north and South America. Crix is roughly centered and is kind of the governing force for much of North America. Though there are some rival kingdoms or kingdoms that are neutral. There are also the wandering gypsies and the Amazons and druids.

The magic races try to stay away from civilization. For example Dragons live in mountains and caves. Shape-shifters (cats, wolves, other) Prefer deep woods or swamps. Dwarfs also like caves but do have villages run by a council that are located on many continents.

Halflings are sometimes hermits but do often live in the main cities. Light elves are everywhere. Some are druidic and live in forests and others live in huge fantastical cities. One such city is the City of Gershawn; it is one of the few Elvin cities that welcomes scholars from all over to study in their well known universities and libraries. Dark elves tend to live secretively and not many of their cities are not easy to find.
Also variations and combinations are possible such as Dragon/human.

+So basically think of my world as a magical Earth but each country has a magic academy and is at a roughly medieval/ classical point in its development though I am sure you noticed some of the additions. It is the age of empires, each empire at its height. As long as a character fits this general concept I’ll accept new races as well, so use your imagination. Something to remember- this adventure will start like a real rp with everyone essentially at level one. Once the story starts characters will level up and gain the trust of the npcs and such and get better jobs. If someone joins up late they will have to start from scratch and earn a place in the story.

Bae'myr Do'zynge felt a strange combination of fear and indifference to the new arrivals. Surrounding him were an arrangement consisting of two trained half-dragons (one of which was warrior-nobility), an Easterner with a propensity for making things die, and the vessel of both the Dark Lady and an Earth deity. Comparatively, I'm a little afraid for the raiders. Nevertheless, he put his hands behind his head and rose to his feet when the dwarf of the group came around. There wasn't any use in getting hurt. He kept his head down and tried to seem as little as possible. Yet, his aura gently seeped forward on the rail floor. The dwarf's aura felt craggy, stony and tipped with frost and salt. Bitter salt. The Drow reached out for the aura of the other raiders as the dwarf passed. His aura nuanced around the other passengers and he could sense their trepidation, a sour and sick smell. But something made Bae'myr's aura stop dead. A dark ebony aura surrounded Bae'myr and his curiosity froze into dread. This wasn't Jacky's aura. This was Drow aura.

And when he snatched his gaze upwards he heard the creeetch of an arrow being notched and saw two violet-red eyes impaling his own. A small squeak escaped him and the point of the bow pressed under his jaw. "Vendui, lotha dalninuk," drawled her voice as she flashed Bae'myr a smile. Sneaky little bastard The arrow made a quiet ffft and sunk into his neck, and Bae'myr fell to the ground clawing at his throat, and a red tide washed over him, submerging him, drowning him, everything red and blue and violet and dark and darker and...

...and he felt the cold sweat, still standing. The ebony aura drew back, still circling him. A charm. It's a charm. The illusion was so real, so perfect. It produced a nightmarish awe in him. A visible ashen pall fell over Bae'myr. He could only stare at the wet looking boots that the other Drow wore. The boots padded closer. "What's another Underwalker doing here?" Her voice crawled, a tipping, tapping,("An aura snitch at that!") strange accent("Tikkiik got your tongue?") of Drow that played with tenses("For the best perhaps,") and lisped the ends of words. A familiar accent. "Not another, Val'Saghress, hm? Not enough muscle for that. Skinny enough to be..." she whispered. "Ph'dos Do'zynge'?"

Are you a ruin-walker? And that was when Bae'myr realized he was being robbed by another Do'zynge.

"Now, I'd listen to the man." Yuri said to the dwarf, referencing Darien. The Dwarf's ruddy face puckered, before a rumbling laughter eminated from his belly. "Bah, ye think ye be the onl'a one who knows how to use a blade? Gigalag here was once a manhunter." He hooked a thumb back to the eyepatched elf who had just flipped a table of couple in order to gain a clear path to Darien, who had unsheathed his sword. "He never lost a mark, no he didn't. Me? I'd be a dwarven berserker. I'd killed entire villages jus' cause I lost me temper. Ye don't want me temper to be lost do ye? And I believe yer little Srow friend recognizes our archer friend." The dwarf said plainly.

"And that big man be Levin," The dwarf said, pointing a chin towards the rather large human male, who had his greatsword laying across his shoulders with one hand and the other clutching a berlap sack relieving the patron's of their valuables. Then he kicked an older man in the abdomen while he was taking to long unclasping a golden watch. This caused Yuri's brow to furrow and glare back at the Dwarf. "And I be Grif Stonearm."

Yuri rubbed his eyes and leaned forward in his seat, and placing his elbows on the table. "Can't never have a calm day." He muttered. The dwarf responded by lifting his axe in the air and crashing it down through Yuri's table, splintering it. Yuri fell forward slightly, as the table was holding a bit of his weight, but he caught his balance almost immediately. Anjali whimpered behind Yuri and clutched even tighter. Yuri shook his head and sighed once more before touching Anjali's arm gingerly. "Alright love, listen carefully. Make your way to Jacky, alright? She'll protect you, yeah?" He said in a comforting tone. Anjali nodded scared and clutched a bit tighter before running towards Jacky.

As she ran, the Dwarf reached out with a grubby hand in order to grab her, but with trained speed, Yuri's hand intercepted his. "No mate." Yuri said simply. The Dwarf's face lit up in anger.

Gigalag the elf stood poised to strike at Darien and had sunk into a low stance, one that screamed of elven warriors. Levin the human heard the commotion between the dwarf and Yuri and pushed away a woman who he was stealing jewelry from harshly and turned to face them. "What?" Levin said slowly before slinging the blade off of his shoulders and turned to face the ones who opposed them. Grif slapped away Yuri's arm and took a step backwards. "Alright, it be seeming that this fools be believin' that they can take us. Let's take them out and get on with our gatherin'." Grif said before grabbing a chair and chucking it at Yuri.

Gigalag snorted, and looked at Darien, "Well, let's dance, shall we?" Gigalag said in the refined dialect of the elves, before sliding a chair with his foot from the side to the front of him, and then slinging it down towards Darien with the same foot, quite contrary to the aforementioned refined dialect. Levin, the farthest away, took up crowd control duties. A couple of people tried to escape to the next car, but Levin picked up a table and threw it at them, knocking them all down to the ground. "Nobody goes nowhere, understand! You will all watch! You all will see why you do not mess with us!" Levin barked over the people, another chair in his hand, ready to throw it at someone.

Tense. An apt word for the situation. The sound of the tensed bow-string tightened in the still air. A groaning wood in the clutches of the human greatsword agonized the pause even further. Bae'myr identified the smell of urine emanating from somewhere behind the tossed table atop the attempted escapees. He couldn't help but empathize. I'm good friends with fear though, he thought. Some people here haven't been in a burning building though, or seen a man with no face wash dishes. Funny that. He closed his eyes and opened his mind's eye. He saw a nathamice in his palm pulsating, full of energy primordial and immemorial, black as the eternal Underdark night, pierced only by there eerie glow of were light and blind eyes. Bae'myr focused on the crystal in his palm, gripping it until he could feel its heart, beating in time with his breath. In and out. Gradually, Bae'myr opened his eyes to see the other Drow Do'zynge nearly an inch away from his face. She had been staring intently at him for the better part of a minute. She fell back on the balls of her feet and Bae'myr could see the bow hanging loosely from her left hand. She continued to stare. Bae'myr stared back. This went on.

"You're weird, little brother," she said at last. "I can smell mushrooms. Dead mushrooms. Spooky." So she broke the silence jarringly. With her at distance, Bae'myr was able to define her clearly. She reminded him of a cat he once met; her eyes seemed predatory but curious, to the point of humor. True to her word, she and Bae'myr shared the same frame, thin and lean. But she made the most of what she had, toning her form to muscle and sinew. Somehow, he knew she would beat him in a race. Her hair was tied in a neat little black bun behind her head. To keep her hair out of the way, when she has her bow out. Bae'myr briefly espoused tying his own hair in the same manner. She dressed conservatively, in material not modesty, leggings cut short and shirt cut at the arms. A dagger kept at her side. At the moment, she lazily stared around the room.

He preferred his torso non-perforated, so he cleared his throat as warning. The raiding party turned as a whole to the Necromancer. "Bae'myr," said Bae'myr. "My name is Bae'myr." He spoke in a plain, and calm fashion. "I can get you a decent amount of gold, much more than the worth of the girl." As slowly as possible, he turned to Darien. "I think that I gave my friend over there a very valuable dagger. Very valuable." Bae'myr judged their reactions, looking for the hungering of greed in their eyes. "A family heirloom worth, conservatively, a vault full of gold. It has many valuable gems in the hilt and it has drider poison, very deadly, worth more than its weight in gold. But, its enchanted, so stealing would result in a very bad case of burnt flesh on my part and the stealer." Bae'myr was fully aware of the lies he was weaving. "I would like to bargain for the dragon-elf's life." Turning an eye on her, he looked back to the raiders. "As a slaver myself, I would advise you all to wait a little longer. The little pigs just eat at this phase. Terrible servants. A few years later though when she's...in bloom... and she'd be of great value. A magical, ruby-encrusted dagger, however, would be much more valuable. Did I mention it being an heirloom?"

In a feat of showmanship Darian moved his sword almost faster than the eye could see and chopped the chair into smaller pieces as it was flying toward him and grabbing the falling pieces out of the air with his other hand so they didn't hit anyone. In less than a blink he had a small pile of debris at his feet. "I know several dances any of which I am sure I do better than you so whenever you are ready, try me. If however you might have changed your mind, I would understand."

Bae's comment about a dagger distracted him. "Don't try to work with them. Criminals only know how to deceive and go back on their word. What's to stop them from taking everything after you give them the dagger?" Darien whispered loud enough so Bae could hear.

Meanwhile Jacky moved Anjali behind her and made her way to the people behind the table. She checked everyone over in case they got hurt using torn table clothes as bandages for those who were bleeding. She tried to calm the passenger's and Anjali down and knew that having someone to help would do the best at calming Anjali. She was a strong girl. With her healing ability she could focus on those that needed help instead of her own fear or worry. She kept the table between them and the thieves and focused on the passengers.

The other Do'zynge swiveled in her step and strung the bow. A streak flashed in the air. A yelp cut short, followed by a wet and pitiful mewling. A man cowering against the wall with two other passengers found himself ventilated by two arrows lodged in the small of his back. A red stain now began spreading from the arrows. Gurgles. His two friends fell to their feet, for fear of their friends and their lives. One of his friends frantically ran his hands over the arrow wounds and gibbered in a foreign tongue. The other kept prostate and motioned for his friend to do likewise. The dying man flailed about the cabin, bringing to mind a marionette with epilepsy. Bae'myr could only watch as the man began choking on his on blood. It was not a slow death. All the while, the Do'zynge Raider snickered and pointed.

"Heh. I guess you could say he's a halmes pincushion. Hee. Heheh. Pincushion." She walked over to the group of men, and bent down to loot the body. "He's certainly wearing fancy clothes. Maybe he has some ada or gold on him." The Do'zynge Raider spat out a curse and the friend crouched over the corpse shivered and straightened. He remained still, breathless. Then he dropped onto his side, raving. Eyes wide from some great blackness. From somewhere in the car, a little child started to wail. The Do'zynge Raider continued to rifle through the dead man's pockets with one hand. "Sorry about that brother, but your friend there did a big no-no during a robbery." She retrieved small bags of gold from the body and returned to the rest of the raiders with a blank smile. "No showing off." Drawing another two arrows, she readied the bow and leveled it at Darien. "No taunting," she stated. Then she flicked her wrist and set Anjali in her sights. "And no heroics." Her fingers twitched.

Bae'myr felt a jolt in his chest as he watched the fingers twitch. The Do'zynge Raider dropped her sights and blew a raspberry. "Boo!" she said playfully. "Now why would I do that? She's just a kid and I'm not completely heartless." She snapped up her sights on Bae'myr and the Necromancer bit his lip until a tiny drop of blood beaded on the inside of his lip. "However, you also did a little no-no, Bae boy," she teased. "I know that dagger your holding is worth a whole lot of gold. But you lied about the enchantment. And that's another big one on the list. No lying." The arrow flew towards Bae'myr and he felt the arrow slice the air as it hurtled toward him. And by him. The arrow head skimmed the flesh on his lower left jaw and barreled past him, slamming the wall behind him. "But since you're family I'll let you off with a warning. You did tell most of the truth," she said. "If we were in Chel'el'sussoloth, I'd put a shaft between in your n'abyl. But we're not. So hand over the knifey and maybe a little bit of gold and your little girlfriend can stay with Mr. Wavy Hair here." It took a good few seconds before Bae'myr began bleeding from the shallow cut, and he pressed his shirt sleeve against the red.

"By Sharess, Darien, just give it to her!" he snarled between his clenched teeth.

Darien cringed inside as the man fell and pulled the dagger out, tossing it up to the drow woman and in the same moment lunged foward with his own sword in an attempt to disarm or or at the least damage the crossbow. It was a lovely move timed just right to take full advantage of the moment she would try to catch the dagger. He was fast and agile and despite his anger, he kept his calm.

"Don't forget about me, boy!" Gigalag said, cutting in between Darien and planned on interrupting his little dash with a swipe of his slender longsword. As it arced, the blade gleamed a polished white color in the light. The move was almost as quick as Darien was.

Yuri had watched near the dwarf as the Drow girl aimed the bow at Anjali. She froze instantly in fear, and Yuri froze in horror. They both were relieved when the Drow removed her sights from the girl. Yuri's face and brow was furrowed with anger and he looked down to his feet for a moment before mumbling to the Dwarf. "If someone threatens her one more time, I will kill you all," Yuri said, voice seething with venom. He then looked back up and locked eyes with the dwarf. The stubby man growled and bared his teeth before spitting. "I'm tired of all ye empty threats. I'm going to take what I want!" The Dwarf said, hefting up his axe and bringing it down towards Yuri in the same moment Darien had thown the knife. Luckily, the motion was slow enough for Yuri to step to the side and guide the axe with a hand on the shaft safely to the side. As the axe bit deeply into the the floor, Yuri picked up a foot and stomped the axe's shaft, jarring it out of the Dwarfs hands and slamming it on the floor with a dull thunk.

Now with the hand he used to guide the axe away, he forced a palm into the Dwarfs chest, further separating him from his axe. With his free hand, he picked up a chair by the back and chucked it at the knife Darien had thrown moments ago, intercepting it in midair. Yuri then yelled out, "Don't give them a damn thing but your boots!" Yuri was obviously too concentrated beforehand to know the importance of the dagger or what had gone on between Bae and the drow. He just didn't want them to have a thing just to spite them. They had provoked him. He followed up this maneuver by sending a foot in the air above a close by table and driving a heel down on the edge of his, causing it to tip toward him. He then rolled it around front of him between the drow girl and himself in order to provide partial protection from the arrows.

Levin eyed the Half-dragon Raos from across the cart and watched for any sudden movements.

He hadn't forgotten about Gigalag but had hoped he would be able to get past him but he was faster than he had thought but he grinned as he noticed that he wasn't quit as fast as himself. He took full advantage of his slightly faster speed and larger sword to block the swipe and attemp to dislodge it from his opponents hand.
He heard Yuri's comment and agreed wholeheartedly "I wasn't planning on giving them anything, just hoping to use it as a distraction. They aren't going to leave here in one piece nevertheless with anything else, or anyone." He said the last thinking of Anjali but didn't look in that direction, knowing any opening would be taken advantage of. Even if he felt he was the better fighter you always had to assume that your opponent was better or they might surprise you. He concentrated on his fight closely keeping a cool head so he could gage his opponent's next move.

Somewhere across the false veils between Gavilla and the Afterworld, a soul drifted. At least, that's what the soul thought it was doing. It wasn't exactly sure; being dead was a very peculiar circumstance for this particular had-been. Surrounding it was a facsimile of the rail car, colors muted and cooled like the sound of a pendulum just as it reached the height of its swing, drawn on and on and on... Shadows moved around him, but the spirit felt no fear. It noticed that it felt no fear and contemplated what else it didn't feel. It did so. The shadows moved and danced about him. Something urged the spirit onwards towards somewhere, promising less monochrome and more resolution. Unconsciously, the spirit obeyed and moved. It did not move up nor down, left nor right, nor any comprehensible direction at all. But nonetheless, the spirit moved on. The spirit felt good.

Then he felt a tug. Then he fell backwards. Then he felt the shadows drown him. Then he felt the suffocation of lungs that did not breathe inside a body with no heartbeat. Then the spirit felt pain. And it began to kill.

"....ghaul nidarchal." said Bae'myr as he reanimated the cadaver into a revenant in the midst of the melee. No control. No mind. No mercy. Forgive me, Ilztyrn.

Raos payed no attention to the speech flying back and forth between his comrades and the would be bandits the fight between them had begun along with the Drow, Bae, being strongly opposed to it. the only one had not begun fighting or somehow engaged in hostilities was Raos and the human male identified as Levin. An intense stare down was going on between the two though there mental states were diffrent as the human played it safe only watching Raos for movements and not attacking him first. Raos had little intention of following his example and moved forward with out warning still staring down the man. A look of enmity filed his dull yellow eyes as he drew his sword, Raos had no intention of letting this man go alive, he would erase him from this world and this man would know his attention if he was a true warrior.

The revenant convulsed as dark magics washed over every broken fissure, suffused the body, and receded to the Necromancer. It wrenched itself off the floor and sat on its haunches. Bae'myr felt the spirit locked away within the shell writhing in terror and fury. The theory behind revenants was relatively simple: a soul entrapped inside a body, confused and overstimulated by dark magic, served as both a fuel source and a motivator for a deceased corpse. A revenant differed from a zombie in the one key aspect of control. A zombie contained a soul with purpose, whose bondage had been outlined by the Necromancer and established by a "contract" of energy. The revenant contained a tortured soul, driven to a body suddenly and painfully. Revenants killed. Anything and everything. A simple hate for all living things lay deep within the revenant, which expressed itself immediately, reflexively. A dangerous, impractical, and cruel summon. But a quick summon, nonetheless. And Bae'myr needed to be quick and messy.

The Do'zynge Raider had been busy filling the air with arrows. Shot after shot sped towards Darien and Yuri as her fingers danced on the arrow string. Just as she notched another arrow, her ears pricked at the sound of movement from the rail car floor. She wheeled on the spot and loosed an arrow into the nearest body. She heard a wet squelch of flesh and arrow and reached for another arrow. But in the span of a second, the Do'zynge Raider knew something was terribly wrong. There was no groaning or cry of pain from the ground. There was an empty pool of blood at her feet. And at the moment, the human pincushion had ceased tearing out the throat of the cursed hostage was lunging for her. "Huh?" Then it slammed her to the ground, a shrieking mess of blood and flesh tearing at her with teeth and a strength only the dead could muster. The bow was knocked from her hands as the revenant bowled her over in a storm of foam and noise. She screamed as the revenant clamped its jaws onto her cheek and savagely ripped his head back, carrying a portion of her flesh in between his teeth. The Do'zynge Raider placed a foot on the revenant's stomach and kicked it a good distance away.

The revenant landed with a thud onto the rail car on its back. It began to scuttle like a spider towards the Drow Raider, bent backwards with the front facing the ceiling and its back to the floor, each arm and leg frantically moving towards the Raider. The Raider picked up her bow and arrow and notched three arrows at the revenant and fired away. The impact of each arrow repulsed the revenant and gave the Drow Raider enough time to notch another shot. But instead of firing at the aberration, she scanned the rail car for Bae'myr. A sudden obfuscating blackness emerged from within the rail car, and the Do'zynge Raider fired into the darkness, listening for the death gurgle of the other Drow. No such luck. The umbra complicated things, she cursed. "The little runt was definitely going to blee-" Foul breath wafted from behind her.

Bae'myr inked the umbra as thick as possible before ducking behind the large overturned table across the rail car. He found Anjali, shivering in fear, a much more subdued yet determined Jacky, and the unfortunate sources of the urine stench. "Okay, they are officially occupied," affirmed Bae'myr. "I...I didn't really plan this out. Yuri and Darien are back there fighting a dwarven berserker an two elves, and a human longsword. I set up an umbra, blinding just about everybody up there. Thankfully, I hastily summoned a mean little beastie that really likes the dark. Unfortunately, that same beastie likes killing everything in sight. And I can't control it. Any ideas? Anjali? Jacky? Passenger with funny hat?"

"You mean you aren't controlling that thing?" Jacky said incredulously. "What if it just starts killing the passengers and then heads for us?" I need my sword so I can help so why don't you think of a way to get us and these passengers safely out of this car so I can get my weapon and these people will be safe. Darien, Yuri, and Raos are good but I think they could use some back up especially if that thing of yours starts going after the good guys."

The dwarf lifted his axe again and swung horizontally for Yuri, finding no mark luckily. Yuri had arched his back backwards as the axe swung dangerously close to his midsection. However, the miss made the dwarf vulnerable for a mere moment. Yuri only needed a moment. He stepped forward behind the wild swing and grabbed the axe handle before sending a nasty elbow to the dwarf's face. The dwarf's head shot backwards from the force and Yuri gave the axe a tug. No use, the dwarf's hand was like stone on the haft. Suddenly, the dwarf's head shot forward and headbutted Yuri square in the chest. This caused Yuri to fall backwards hard against the upturned table which he turned earlier.

Dull thumps were heard on the other side of the table as the Drow's arrows plunged into the wood, missing the soft flesh of Yuri. At the time though, this didn't register to Yuri as a dwarf in his bloody berserker rage stampeded towards him, axe held up high. As the axe dove towards Yuri, the soldier quickly turned on his side to avoid the sharp bite of the axe. This dodge was successful as the axe splintered the table behind Yuri in half. Thinking quick, Yuri turned back on his back and kicked upwards. The blow was true as Yuri's foot connected with the dwarf's rocky chin, sending the small man stumbling backwards. The axe ripped out of the floor with the dwarf and caught Yuri lightly on the arm.

The dwarf shook out of his stupor and glared at the soldier on the ground and snorted. He rushed once more, this time axe held diagonally. Yuri watched the dwarf keenly, waiting for an opportunity. Then, an odd thought race across Yuri's mind... His sword sure would be welcome here.

Just as the dwarf neared Yuri, an umbra stuck its black fingers in their sights and blinded them to blackness. Though this blindness in no way slowed or stopped the dwarf, it gave Yuri a curtain in order to escape the rampage. He threw himself to the side and rolled to his feet as the crash of an axe echoed against the floor. Yuri, now on his feet, pulled out the stiletto knives hidden in his bracers and stood in an aggressive stance, both knives in front of him. In vain, however, as the umbra hid him from the dwarf and vice versa. He wondered of the origin's of the sudden blackness, yet did not insult the gift.

Though, there was something else in the umbra. Something pained and full of malcontent. He could smell it, he could feel it. It felt wrong. "Th' 'ell is that?! Wha'ever it is, it innit good." Yuri said, unique accent piercing the umbra. Of course, Yuri heard the whistling of an axe headed towards him and jumped backwards just in case. He could not see the dwarf, nor he him... But they could hear each other just fine.

No such luck, the sword managed to block but only pushed his opponent back a little. Gigalag frowned and turned going in towards Darien's midsection and Darien hurried to block but he noticed a tell in the other man's eyes and moved the sword to block the feint now headed toward his leg just in time. He pushed forward stepping inside the other man's stance and swiped at the man's front leg and at the same time aiming a backhand blow to the guys head when everything went black. "Oh, crap," he muttered as his hand went through nothing and he felt a slice hit his side. He jumped back, almost tripping on a fallen chair but managed to calm himself and let his dragon senses map the room for him. He could feel the room almost as if seeing it and turned toward his opponant who was looking around rather worriedly, swinging his sword at every sound. Darien grinned. He couldn't just kill the man but as silently as possible he snuck up behind and bashed him on the back of the head with the sword pommel. He turned toward the drow woman knowing she wouldn't be so easy and squared his shoulders, taking a deep breath.

From within the umbra, Yuri could hear the breathing of those around him, including the foul undead being Bae had summoned. However, for the time being, that creature was far from Yuri's mind. He had to focus on the dwarf that wanted him dead. He could hear the dwarfs uneasy steps and haggard breathing not far from his position. Yuri himself kept his breath solid and even, and stepped lightly as he could to avoid the dwarf's senses.

"Oi! What kin' of trick this be?" Yuri heard beside him. A mistake on the dwarfs part. Yuri instantly picked up a leg and kicked heavy towards the dwarf, striking the stout man from what seemed to be the chest. The man expelled the air that had been in his lungs, but afterward sent a wild hew with his axe toward the direction of the kick. A futile effort, Yuri was nowhere to be found as he had already moved out of the way.

Breathing heavy, the dwarf swore, "Argh, why don't ye fight like a man?!" his only answer was a heavy boot to the face, as a vicious kick connected with the dwarf's chin. Stumbling back a bit, he hefted the axe downwards in a desperate attempt to slay the man, to no avail however as a dull thunk signified a miss into the floor.

By this time, Yuri had pushed their fight close to the walls of the cart. He reached out and touched the thick wall and an idea came to him. First, he replaced his hidden stilettos and kept a hand on the wall before goading the dwarf. " 'Ey, mate, Ova here." Yuri said before taking a step backwards. On queue, the Dwarfs axe came cleaving into the wall in front of Yuri, where it stuck. The soldier took advantage of this situation as he stepped forward quickly, laying a firm hand on the dwarf's axe, before elbowing the stout man directly where his face should be. Yuri felt the dwarf lose grip on the axe as he stumbled back, and again, Yuri took advantage. He ripped the axe out of the wall and spun, axe outstretched. Though spinning the axe, Yuri tried to keep the blow nonlethal as he tried to use the flat of the axe. His blow was true as the axe connected with something solid with a telltale thump, followed by a revealing thud from something heavy falling to the ground.

By this time, the umbra began to clear, and the dwarf lay knocked out cold on the floor of the cart, Yuri standing nearby holding the dwarf's axe heavy axe over his soldier. Yuri was no longer unarmed. "An' that's a'why you don't mess wit' an Aussie." Yuri said with pride.

He looked up and found that Darien too had dispatched his bandit, and the Revenant had finished off the Drow archer. The foul creature stood over the poor girls body, feeding... Yuri also noticed that Darien had turned his attention to the Drow and Revenant as well.

He gave a curt wave to Darien as the creature stood up, realizing that Yuri had set his eyes upon it. Finally, Yuri spoke, "One mo' baddy, yeah?" he said to Darien, shifting the axe on his shoulder.

Darien just nodded "you circle his left and I will go right. I don't know how smart it is but I doubt he speaks draconic, which thanks to my spell you can understand. I bet we can outsmart and out speed him." Without waiting for an answer Darien circled warily to the right knowing that something like this could be totally random and unexpected in it's movements and give nothing away. As he walked he used his off hand and made a few symbols over his sword as he spoke a blessing on it which should be effective on the undead. With a glance he also blessed Yuri's weapon with a wave of his hand and moved in closer.
The stench of the thing was nauseating and it was almost overwhelming to his enhanced senses. He did his best to block it out. As yet the thing hadn't moved from it's position, still feeding on the drow woman. It wasn't a pretty sight. Darien swung with all his might toward the thing's neck, knowing that usually decapitation was the best way to stop most undead. But when his sword was almost there the thing blocked it with it's arm. With a crack the bone broke and a dribble of what little fluids were left trickled out but the thing just looked at Darien with empty eyes and Darien took a step back in case it jumped at him.

Yuri nodded at Darien as he motioned for him to go around the other way. He slowly made his way around the foul creature, for a moment feeling a warmth emanating from his new axe. Darien seemed to have blessed it. Magic... Such an odd thing.

The creature's stench also reached Yuri, though it hardly had an effect on the soldier. Either already becoming accustomed to the smell of death, or because of his conditioning. Either way, the stench was still foul, though Yuri disregarded it. A moment even acknowledging it could prove fatal.

Then Darien struck at the creature, aiming for it's neck. Waiting for his moment, Yuri stood away from the creature until Darien finished his strike. Seemed like the blow was going to ring true for a moment, up until the undead managed to block with a lifeless arm. Darien quickly retreated, and it was now Yuri's turn. He quickly ran forward to the creature, axe held low.

As he came upon the creature, Yuri swung the axe upwards on the creature, hoping the destroy the creature's trunk. To no avail as the undead reached with a hand and stopped the axe blade. The blade sunk deep into it's palm and continued into it's forearm, but that was the extent of the damage. The undead beast then whipped it's eyes to Yuri and let loose a chilling wail. Yuri froze in a fit of surprise and primal fear. Froze long enough for the creature to back hand Yuri.

The blow sent Yuri to the ground a couple of feet away, to which the creature capitalized by slinging itself on top of the solider, looking to feed. The only thing keeping the undead beast from dining on Yuri's flesh was the Axe haft, and that was creaking under the pressure.

Yuri attacked and again the monster was faster than he anticipated. Then Yuri was pinned beneath it and finally Darien had an opening and without waiting took another swing at the thing's neck. The sword connected but caught on the bones of the spinal column. He hadn't put enough force behind the blow to get all the way through the neck. At least he had gotten half way through. He tried to pull the sword out for another blow but it seemed stuck. The monster started to screech some more and reached back with one of it's arms to try and pry loose the sword. Darien let go of the blade and kicked the thing over hoping Yuri would now be open to finish it off.

The axe snapped in half, splinters raining down onto Yuri's face and chest. Though he expected the tearing bite of the undead Revenant upon his neck, the pain did not come. Opening his eyes, he noticed that the creature had been stopped by Darien's blade. More specifically, his blade in the creatures neck. The sword managed to slice halfway into the Revenant's neck, most likely only being stopped by the spine of the undead creature.

Yuri saw the warrior try to tug his sword out of the monster neck, but to not avail. Instead, Darien dropped the sword, still inside the creature's neck, and kicked it off of Yuri, finally allowing him to breath. Though he didn't enjoy the respite for long, quickly rolling over and mounting the creature himself, with the half an axe in his hand. Seems now that Yuri and the creature had switched positions. One of which Yuri took full advantage of. He pinned the creature by using his knees to gain torque on Darien's sword, hoping the Spellsword would either reinforce his knee or dull the back of the blade to avoid injury.

The creature's neck was pinned, sword slowly digging into the flesh by the increased pressure of Yuri's weight. This was not the only tactic used. The broken axe was now small enough for Yuri to wield with one hand, yet he still grabbed it with both and held it high above his head. He had time for one final quip...

"Back tah hell ya go mate. I'll see ya down under," Yuri uttered before slamming the axe in the center of the Revenant's face, easily cutting it in half. Yet no blood ran, only a black treacly substance. Then there was a snap. The sword Yuri was on finally broke past the spine and continued it's course directly through the creature's neck until it bit into the wooden floor beneath.

This caused an otherworldly screech to emanate from the undead beast's detached head. A screech which evolved in pitch and tone until it was loud wailing wind. Then, the corpse itself suddenly exploded and melted into dust under Yuri.

The old warrior sighed in relief and stumbled forward, tired from the morning's events. He grabbed Darien's sword by the hilt before flipping it to where he was holding it by the blade, hilt extended to Darien. With the other hand, he tossed the axe safely to the side, glad to be rid of the thing.

"Here ya go, mate. Believin'' you be wantin' this back." he said with a weary grin on his face. "Not bad fer a morning's brekkie, right?" He said, a small, cold laugh escaping his lips.

Darien took the blade, glad that it was finally over. The bad guys were tied up and taken away by the train security, once they were finally able to get to the car that had been blocked by the bad guys. The medical staff also were able to come in and help Jacky and Anjali with the injured and removing the dead. Everyone was pretty strung out and shaken by the encounter so the rest of the ride to Greece was quiet. Once to Greece Darien rented a sea diver. It was piloted by an Atlantian who recognized Darien and agreed to ferry them to Atlantis. The diver wasn't huge, just big enough for them all to squeeze in. The metal sides were rounded with reinforced windows that allowed them to see as they dove under the water. The Myriad fish and even a few dolfins swam past as they went deeper. The further they went the more quiet it was. After about five hours they could see a huge dome covered city come into view and many blue skinned people swimming in and out. They slid through the bubble and continued through the immense city docking to a centralized building that was intricately decorated with spinnerets and coral and could only be the Royal palace.
