Shie sat at her shrine singing. She wore a kimono. The shrine was grown over with plants. It wasn't visited that often and to support herself and the shrine, Shie worked a second job as a baker for the local high schools kiosk. Her singing had attracted some visitors during the morning but now everything was quiet. But she could sense a man running. He came out of the woods. "You gotta help me. The police want to get me! I didn't want to kill the girl!" The man said. Then Shie said: "Don't worry. You will be safe here." Shie had a grin that gave away that she didn't have good intentions with him. In the next moment, she had pierced his chest with her bare hand and took his heart out. "Criminals are always prey that I wont have to worry about." Shie then dragged his corpse inside and prepared it. It looked like a slaughter house in the specific room, soon with two human halves hanging from meat hooks. She soon then went back out to find the police.

"Excuse me. We are looking for a man who is wanted for murder. Have you seen him?" One of the policemen said holding up a picture of the man who had just been killed. Shie then shook her head and said: "No. If I see any suspicious people in the area, I will let you know." One of the policemen noticed the blood squirt on Shie's cheek and said: "You have something on your cheek." Shie then giggled and said: "I must have been a bit messy with the cherry pie. I wish you two a good day." The policemen then left.

Lynxx woke in her darkened room a knife clutched in her palm. She got up wearinh.a massive a teacher walked out her room.she passed the purple room whivh once held her child and burst into floods of tears She cried for half an hour nearlu and still had wateryneyes when she got dressed. She didn't wear japamrse clothes.really.so she pit jeand and a blouse on she froze in thought at the sigjt og an open windoe swearing she ran and locked it tightly. She looked at her reflection in the eindow What happened to that girl? Oh yeah hrr boyfriend ate her dsughter. A tear fotmed Bella bella bella. the namr hsunted her she coild still visualise herself towering above the demon about to brimg the knife down on him Bella sprawled on the floor it was like somethinh from a horror film She felt an iceuy tear dripple down her face past the corner of her mouth sending a sweet salty taste on to her tounge..She turned aeay and sat down.

Lillian reached another high score on an arcade game. She was happy about it. So was a small crowd. One of those crowds that love watching the painful effort which leads to better results.
Lily left the arcade. "I need to learn how to surf, but I can't afford lessons." She thought. "Maybe I should find a jo..."
Her thoughts were interrupted by a noise. The memories of slaughter exploded in Lilian's head. She quickly prepared to draw out her sword. In seconds longer than years the suspense was increasing the pressure over her more and more. The silence was interrupted by the sound of breeze waving her hair. Lily heard the same noise again. She drew out her sword.
A small kitten was hopping around while observing the world with its huge shiny eyes. Lily put her sword back and continued walking. She crossed her way with Shie's. "Hi" she greeted. Lillian has seen her around the town, but didn't know her personally yet.

Lynxx left her house quickly after breakfast and a drink. She put the knife down on her way out realising she still had it. She locked her door and buried the key into the bottom of her bag. She turned around and walked across the streets aimlessly just trying to do something Anything! She did nearly two laps of the square,before she knew what she wanted to do for the day.

A girl said hi to Shie to which Shie responded: "I have seen you a couple times before. Why don't you take a seat and have some tea with me." Shie then poured a cup of tea. "You know this shrine is the shrine of the local goddess of kindness and fortune. Rumors have it that long agos the gods and goddesses of the area were the very type of beings the village murdered some time ago. But the difference bad then was that they lived peacefully back then as they were guardians who lived off foreign aggressors. If they could have only lived like that nowadays," Shie said. "I hope you are kind enough to leave a small donation, I need to keep this place running."

"Well, that's a long 'Hello'." Lily responded. "As soon as me and mother manage to find jobs, we'll be able to afford helping for charity." Lillian thought that it was weird to be talked to and then join someone she didn't know, but she didn't have anything better to do. Also, her sword is always helpful in case things get dangerous. "Besides, it's most unlikely that she's a demon!" she thought and joined Shie. "I've seen you in college too! Nice to meet you, I'm Lillian."
The small kitten which Lily saw earlier was walking around. It found a leaf and started playing happily with it.

"Too bad you do not have money at the moment. But you shouldn't wander further than the shrine, people tend to get lost in these parts and a couple of people have gone missing already. Some of the old people who come by say the demons are out for revenge but the younger folk say that the forest is so big that people just get lost and eventually starve out there. But anyways, yes I attend college. I live alone now. My foster father lives with his brother now. I lost my family twelve years ago. They were falsely accused of being something that they weren't." Shie said. But no one knew that Shie was actually an active demon who killed at least twice a month for food and would rather have revenge than stop. "So you need a job? I have good connections in town. If you want a part time job, I know a baker who needs help or if you just need a bit money, you can help out here and make this place more accessible from town. You might have come through the forest path since the stairs are overgrown by plants." She pointed towards a grassy area where stairs weren't imagineable.

"There were stairs? Interesting..." said Lillian. " I'm glad that there are available jobs! What skills are needed? What positions are available? Do I have to bake, or just selling or cleaning the place will be enough? Yaaaayyy, I'm going to have a joob!" Lillian's happy expression faded. "And sorry about your family. I guess everyone here has lost important people in their lives twelve years ago..." She went silent and serious for a few seconds. "So... I didn't get your name." Lillian didn't expect to find job opportunities so soon. When she go back home, she'll celebrate with her mother.

"Well the baker only needs someone to help sell the stuff. Here you will rather be doing garden work and help make charms and stuff that shrines normally sell. When the stairs are cleared I will be able to get a connection to the power grid since the shrine only runs on a small wind generator and solar panels at the moment. My name is Shie by the way." Shie said. She got out a sausage and cut a slice off it and ate the slice. "Help yourself. But yes it would be nice if you could help me out while your mother helps the baker. If you need a place to live, I still have two guest rooms."

(OOC: Eat the sausage :D ! Eat it! >:D It is human meat even though your character doesn't know it or taste it. :3)

"Nice to meet you, Shie." Lillian cut a part of the sausage and prepared herself to eat it. "Don't worry, we have a home. Thank you so much for the job!" She opened her mouth. "Oh! There are still things I need to know! What are those charms? Are they easy to be made? I hope they are." The little kitten's mother jumped and took the sausage slice away from Lily. "This cat is hungry for sure! Here, kitty kitty kitty!" Lily wanted to pet the cat, but it scratched her. "OWOWOW! It hurts! Bad kitty! PSSSSSST!" The blood from her hand was slowly running like a small river. The drops were falling like melted candle wax.

As the cat scratched the girl Shie went inside and got a bandage. "That doesn't look good. Here let me fix that for you." Shie said. She put a green salve on the wound and put the bandage on it. "The salve it so that it doesnt get infected. Now go ahead and have a piece. You don't want to go hungry. I will make sure no animals take it away from you." It wasn't as if the girl could get sick from human meat. Do cannibals get sick from it? They didn't.

"Thank you soo much! It hurts! Cats usually like me!" Lillian took another slice of the sausage and opened her mouth. "By the way... I forgot my question..." After another attempt to eat the piece of sausage, Lily sneezed. "Ah, yeah! You didn't tell me about the charms! What are they? Hww dow we mhake thhem?" Her last sentence was weird, because her mouth was full of the sausage thread. "Arh theyy some kind of amhuhlets, or smthin? This sausage is good, is it beef? Did you buy it from somewhere?
A pigeon was flying. It had a worm in its beak. At least it didn't have to wonder if the worm was made of pigeon meat.
(OOC: I'm eating chocolate, but somehow it tastes like a sausage to me now :D)

"It is game hunted from the woods. It tastes very well." Shie said. It was hunted in the woods but it wasn't game. "But anyways what would you choose. It would be great if you would help me out a bit. Anyways I got to get ready to go into town and sell some more of my pastries." Shie left and went inside to get changed. When she came back out she wore short-legged overalls with black lace-trimmed thighhighs and a plain black choker and a wide black armbands on each upper arm. "Now what job would you prefer?"

"I don't know..." replied Lily. "I'm fine with both the bakery and the shrine. Maybe I should talk to my mother if she prefers one of the positions." Lillian took another slice of the sausage. "Since when have you been running the shrine?" she asked.
Slight breeze was slowly shaking the trees. Some of the birds flew away. Around six little kittens were playing around. Their mother was slowly walking. Her paw was covered in blood.

"Well I was 18 when my foster father left. Since then I have had the shrine." Shie said as she loaded boxes of baked goods onto a small truck she owned. She noticed the hurt cat and went to it. She then put a small bandage on the cats paw. "No listen miss kitty, dont take it off until it feels better." she said to it. "Now what was you name?" Shie asked the girl not remembering if the girl introduced herself or not. "Well anyways, what would you do if you met a demon? Or do you think the demon thing is a myth? I have met one before and you wouldnt noticed if he was human or not." Anyways Shie saw herself as not just the priestess but also the kami of the shrine and not as a demon.

"My name is Lillian" she introduced herself again. "I'll defend myself if a demon attacks me. I hope I'll be fast enough. I don't really want to die as a lunch. I'll admit, I have absolutely no idea how to recognize a demon. They look exactly like humans. I've seen them once when I was six." Her expression became sad and serious. "My father and my sister couldn't survive..." A few seconds of silence passed. "I won't search for revenge." Her voice started trembling. "I won't be even able to find the exact killers. However, when I'm one step ahead of a demon, I won't show any mercy." Lillian felt like crying, but quickly managed to hold her tars back. She hated when she cried, not to mention when that was in front of someone. She quickly smiled. "But I prefer not to think about demons all the time. I pretend like they're myth" She wasn't really telling the truth. When Lily is alone, she becomes paranoid.

"Well anyways go ahead and get into the truck. I will drive you into town." Shie said and got into the Kei truck. It was a short ride through the woods but they soon got into town. Close to where she was going to sell her baked wares, Shie stopped the truck because she noticed a crowd and a police car. She got out to see the group standing around a corpse that had been mutilated and it looked like part of the head had been bitten off. "The demons are back for revenge! We arent safe!" An old lady said. Then a young man who obviously hadnt been in town 12 years ago said: "That is some silly belief you got there." Then a man in his early 50s said: "You havent experienced what we have. A demon ate my son. Careless people like you are easy targets for the demons!"

"Oh my poor soul." Shie said and made a prayer as a priestess. In her thoughts she couldnt believe that a demon could be so wasteful with their prey.

Lillian's eyes widened and her pupils shrunk as she was the dead body. Part of its head was bitten. The place of the crime was covered in blood. She knew this person. Even though they weren't close friends, he is dead. What now? Who is next?
Lillian fell on her knees when Shie started preying. After a few seconds, full of people's voices, she took over her shock. Lily stood up on her feet and squeezed her fists.

People were starting to suspect each other of being demons, oddly enough not suspecting Shie. "People stop fighting. Because of this lots of people lost their lives years ago. If you want the demon who did this, you must catch him in the act." Shie said. People seemed to agree. But they seemed foolish as the one person they listened to was a demon herself.

"Lilian, come on. Let us continue to the shop." Shie said as she got back into the truck. For Shie it was actually somewhat good that people began to fear again, since they would come and pray more often at her shrine bringing in a good income so Shie could finally fix the shrine a bit and decorate it.

"Dont worry Lilian. The perpetrator will be found and then everything should be fine." It was best if Lilian didnt find out what Shie was and the only way without being told would be accidentally walking into the shrines store room where meat was in a fridge and two human halves hung on hooks.

A gentle breeze shook sakura petals from their flourishing blossoms, showering the kyudo club's (archery) practice area in a tranquil veil of pink. The curt piercing force of a rushing arrowhead shattered the silent calmness, as it striked the center of a target in the distance with a short thump. "Okay, that's enough practice for today. Good job everyone." Cheery, upbeat voices filled the air and subtly ebbed into silence, as each club member filed out of shajo (shooting hall).

"Bye, sempai (upper classman)! See you tomorrow!" "Bye!" Saito Shizuko, the kyudo club's president, waved to her dedicated members, before jogging past the high school's enterance gates and down the sloping sidewalk. Though the cooling air slightly numbed her cheeks, Shizuko's alertness heightened by the refreshing breeze. Each energetic spring in her step sent her chestnut hair bouncing behind her in voluminous waves. Shafts of orange light from the setting sun shined through the small openings in the leafy trees above. The beautiful blanket of translucent gold evoked a sincere smile onto Shizuko's face. "Another great day," she exclaimed to herself, her tone melodic and light.

Upon arriving at the local convenience store where she worked, Shizuko was curtly greeted by a sudden blast of frigid air, as she passed through the sliding doors. She shivered, hugging herself for warmth. The pacing store manager ceased his concentration at the sight of Shizuko and marched towards her. Glancing at the clock above the checkout counter, Shizuko groaned. "Sorry I'm lat-" "That's the sixth time Saito! If you're late one more time, I'm afraid I'll have to fire you. Do I make myself clear?" Shizuko flinched at each bitter word. "Y-yes sir." Although her head was hung with dread, Shizuko could feel the manager's cold glare boring through her, as she walked into the locker room. After she hastily changed into her uniform, she swept the linoleum flooring and rearranged items on shelves. "Jeez. It's not like I'm doing it on purpose. I'm a hard worker and don't cause any trouble. What's his deal?" Distracted by her thoughts, Shizuko's attention failed to notice an equally distracted customer. The two collided, falling to the ground. Shizuko held a hand to her head, quickly drawing in air through her teeth. "Oww..." she mumbled.

Shie stopped at the convinience store to drop off some fresh bentos she made. A man approached Shie and said: "I hope the gods will protect us from those possible demons who have been killing and feeding off people in the area." "If you visit the shrine regularly then maybe the gods will protect you from the demons." Shie said. She noticed a new face. A girl who seemed to be working at the convinience store. Shie approached the girl and said: "I havent seen you before and as shrine maiden I should be able to recognize most of the people in town."

After apologizing to both the customer and her manager, Shizuko's attention shifted to Shie---the local shrine maiden. She stared impolitely at the young woman, tranced by her alluring red eyes. The young woman's remark, however, snapped Shizuko back into focus. "Ah, you probably don't recognize me, because I haven't visited the shrine since a festival, when I was little. I'm Saito Shizuko, by the way. Nice to meet you!" Shizuko gave a polite bow and smiled energetically at the shrine maiden. Her attention divided by her work, she continued stacking the packaged snacks she spilled, while conversing with the young woman. "You look familiar though. I think I've seen you delivering pastries or something for my high school's snack kiosk. I love their chocolate croissants..." Shizuko's voice trailed off. She began to drool, due to her delirious infatuation with pastries and sweets. However, the young woman's presence brought her back to reality. "Ah, sorry," she smiled meekly, face flustered with innocent embaressment.

Lillian was still trying to forget about the bloody scene. She got off the truck. Shie was talking to a girl named Shizuko. "I remember trose croissants. I used to buy many of these when I was in high school. They were red, I mean... great."

With the additional presence entering the small convenience store, Shizuko warmly greeted the female, trying to redeem herself from her string of apparent bad luck. "Welcome! Please don't hesitate to ask me for any assistance you may need today." Her warm, beaming smile faded to confusion, however, as the unknown female approached the two in a familiar manner. Shizuko exchanged looks with Shie. "Are you two friends?" At the female's remark regarding the kiosk's crossiants, Shizuko nodded with delight, unware of the female's strange emphasis on their color.

(OOC: Shizuko is her first name. Saito is her surname/family name. ))

Shie smiled. "Well that seems to be a complement towards me. I have been making the croissants, baked good and pastries for the past five years. And please forgive Lilian, she just saw a bloody mess from a demon attack. I would put the demon attack in quotes though since it is unknown if it was really a demon, a simple murderer or some spirits vengeance. But I have nothing more to do that clean up the shrine and bake stuff and make my own opinion on the mysterious things that sometimes are going on in town and in the forest." Shie said. She would actually love to destroy the other demons who are wreckless before it ending like it did years ago.
