Thomas Carter Ellington's Story

Lake sighed, opening her text books to study for the test her history class would be taking tomorrow. Lake was the only student that studied in the library at night. Even the nerds didn't study in the library, but Lake, one of the averages, studied nearly every night in the library.

As Lake was reading about world war two, she heard a sound in the library closet. She shrugged it off, figuring it was probably a mouse or it was just in her imgaination. Then, there was more noise, coming from the closet, so she got up, and she walked to the closet. Lake was slightly scared to see what she would find, so she opened the door to the closet slowly, and at first, she saw nothing. She looked around for a few moments, and behind a rack of books, she heard more noise. It sounded like foot steps going down a flight of stairs. The rack didn't have many books, so it was easy for her to move, and when she moved it, she saw something she didn't expect to see. She saw a huge, dark, wooden door with a golden nob, and she opened the door hesitantly, to be greeted by a flight tile stairs. It looked like stairs you would find in the school building. There were torches on the walls that illuminated the stairs, so you ould see where you were going. She walked down the stairs quietly, making sure her steps were soft. When she got to the bottom of the stairs, she saw a fancy room, it was like a classroom, but there were tables instead of desks, and on the tables were beakers with chemicals in them, and the only person in the room was a tall boy who had his back turned to her.

He didn't look very familiar though, he was taller than most of the boys in her school, and he was a bit paler than most of the guys.

"Umm hi," Lake mumbled shyly, trying to get his attention.

"Umm, what is this place? And who are you?" Lake asked, looking up at the boy, and then when he dropped the test tube, she jumped in a startled manner, "Uh, do you need help cleaning that?"

"Umm, are you okay?" Lake blinked, feeling slightly uncomfortable due to the boy staring at her.

Lake frowned at the mention of Hailey. She had already been thinking he liked Hailey, and now she had no doubts about it, "Why don't you go find her? I have to go study anyway," Lake said, and she set her tray down on the bench, going to the library. She opened the closet door, and she moved the rack, going down to the room she had met the boy in. But she saw him talking to a man. It seemed that the man was helping him with the chemicals in the beakers. She hid behind the wall as she watched them.

Jared looked after her, thoroughly befuddled and he stood up. She seemed to have misunderstood slightly. He went into the library and called softly. "Lake? You here?" He looked for a minute then found the open closet door where there was a door inside, he poked his head in the dark space. "Lake? You in here?" He called softly.

"Sorry," Lake mumbled, and she pulled away from the hug, "I need to go do something," she said, and she went back into the library, heading to the closet, and going back down the stairs. She saw the same boy, but he was talking to a girl.

Finally building up some courage, she walked to the boy and the girl, "Hey, uh you're the guy I saw earlier. I want answers. That man said he could smell a human when I came down here. Aren't you guys humans too? And what is this place?" Lake started asking questions, and she couldn't help it as the words just flowed out of her mouth quickly.

"Uh I'm Lake, Lake Smith," she told the girl, then she looked at the guy, "Are you going to answer my questions or not?"

"Asking questions obviously," Lake rolled her eyes at him.

"I'm not leaving until I get answers," she said stubbornly.

Carter was making her way down the silent school hallways after a long detention for fighting with another student and for staining the kids blood on the teachers personal items in the classroom. She had to get her car keys that she left in her locker so she could finally leave to her apartment. As she rounded the last corner she suddenly smelt her least favorite smell,"Is anyone there?" She sniffed again and knew that smell had to be human so she decided to scare the pathetic thing to death by sneaking up on it. She disappeared into the hallway making her way toward the stench.

Lake whispered quietly, "What are we doing in here?"

"I want answers. I want to know about this place. Why did the man say he could 'smell human' when I came down here earlier? Why are you covering for me? Oh my gosh! You guys are werewolves aren't you!? I just know that you're werewolves! I mean, werewolves are basically dogs and dogs have like super good smelling abilities, so you guys are obviously werewolves. Or maybe you're vampires! What are you? A vampire? A werewolf? A vampwolf? Is a vampwolf even a thing?" Lake started blurting out random questions, to say she was calm was a complete lie. She was anything but calm. Strangers would probably think she belonged in a mental asylum if they saw her right now.

Lake gasped, "So you're a vampire or a vampwolf! I bet you're a vampire! No, a vampwolf! No, I bet you're both! What are you? Are you a vampwolf? A vampire? Both? I figured it out! Your mom is a vampire and your dad is a vampwolf because his mom was a vampire and his dad was a wolf! I'm such a genuis!" she rambled. Lake had a tendency to do that when she was nervous.

"Oh my god, you locked me in here so you could eat me! Wait! That's cannibalism! Wait, is that cannibalism? I mean, I'm a human, and you're a vampire vampwolf hybrid, so is that cannibalism or not?" Lake took a few steps back nervously, and she bumped into the wall, "Please don't eat me. I know plenty of people that you can eat instead. I've been told that I don't taste good anyway, so go eat someone else!"

"Shut doesn't go up, though, shut goes down, so why don't people-well, in your case, vampire, vampwolf hybrids- say shut down?" Lake asked, her tone completely serious.

Lake gulped, and she raised her hand as if she were asking for permission to speak. She had a fearful expression in her eyes, and she spoke, "Can I leave now, please?"

"How do you know my name?" Lake eyed him suspiciously, "Are you a mind reader? Psychisc? Are vampires capable to reading minds? And don't even say your not a vampire because you have fangs sticking out of your face," she didn't seem afraid anymore, she was fascinated that she was standing in front of a vampire, and she was fascinated that he knew her name, "I have to tell Jared about this! He will totally freak out!" she grinned excitedly.

Lake bit his hand, making him take his hand off of her mouth, "Why can't I?" she asked him curiously.

"What kind of shampoo do you use? You're hair is so flawless. Anyway, err should I go since "people like me" shouldn't know about you?" Lake asked him.

Lake grinned, "I'll probably be back, it's fun down here," she went up the stairs, and she closed the door, pushing the rack of books against the door, and she exited the closet.

She walked down the hall, and she spotted Jared by his locker, "Hey Jared," she smiled as she approached him, "I like you too, by the way."

Mary was waiting until Thomas had returned from chatting with his girlfriend who, in fact, smelled surprisingly delicious in the weirdest way. Thomas entered the classroom, and Mary looked up to see the uneasy look on his face.

"What happened? You look..jittery." she said. Thomas came close, and sat on top of the table with Mary. "Uhh, nothing. She had some things to discuss with me. No problem." He lied. Mary knew he was lying, and it was the smell that intrigued her the most. It was sweet and utterly delectable. Almost like a human.

Mary sniffed in the scent that was coming from Thomas, and her eyes grew large. "She was a human wasn't she?"
