Reward for completing the first Nighttime. All monsters encountered thus far are recorded here.

Note: I'll leave the pages for the monsters you guys introduce up to you. Put them up here once our characters encounter them, kay?

Wandering Cultist

Wandering humanoid monsters that plague much of the empty city during Nighttime. Although threatening and grotesque in appearance, their senses are rather weak and limited. They usually stop chasing once their prey is out of sight.

Lore || They used to be part of a cult called the Holy River which originated from Prejudice. Compared to some of the other monsters, these are rather new, indicating that they're probably creatures who have just recently succumbed to the curse and magic of Nighttime.

A strange, floating mass of lanterns and masks. The Pinwheel carries six sticks on its back holding lanterns at the very ends, and has three masks that act as its eyes. The rest of it is covered in a torn black cloak of sorts.

Lore - The former mascot of the amusement park, the Pinwheel was designed as a special performance in the theater section of the park.
"This creepy thing was the mascot of the theater. Sure gave kids a scare when it started floating around, but it gave a damn good performance when its lanterns would seemingly light up out of nowhere. It's just a puppet controlled with strings on its sticks, though."

Cult Leader

Garbed in an almost grotesque royal attire, it can be inferred that this masked figure leads the congregation of humanoid monsters outside. It is capable of speech to some degree, implying some sentience behind the sinister. It lurks in the library, barred from leaving the place by a cage of steel which mysteriously disappears as darkness falls.

Lore || A religious leader who rallied refugees from Prejudice into a cult known as Holy River. They used the library as their main shelter until a strange illness crept up and infected most of their members. He tried to escape the contamination by locking himself in the library basement, abandoning his other members in the process until he eventually succumbed to it as well.

Saberhound

Hunters by nature, these dog like monsters roam around the hospital as if to guard their master that resides inside. They will obey their master without question and rather than bite their prey, they slice them apart using their long and sharp blade portruding from their gaping maws.

Lore || Legend has it that these dogs used to be bloodhounds that worked with the police who lead an investigation on the cultist activity taking place in this town. The dogs were separated and experimented on by a deluded doctor who was determined to create something that their deity could be proud of.

ImageIdentification - Unknown

Origin - Excerpt from Natsumi Samidare's Flaura and Fauna of Prejudice: Medicinal Applications - Page 97

Known Info: - "We don't know where it came from or how it even got here. Our blades failed to cull it. Our prayers failed to stop it. It's not like the other animals--the others are at least acting out of self-preservation. This one's acting on pure malice. It might be the personification of malevolence itself. Where did we go wrong?"

Sadie

Sadie is a woman who haunts the hospital in the abandoned town. She hunts for anyone who has hurt her or is too loud to obtain peace and safety. She sometimes has Saberhounds come to help her.

Lore: Sachiko was once a veterinarian who loved to help out dogs in particular. But, a scientist wanted to create a weapon to please a higher power. Sachiko was used as a vessel and was subjected to experiments alongside her dogs. It's one of the reasons why the Saberhounds are loyal to her.

Beastly Lurker

Bipedal monsters with goat heads and long claws, they appear to be prowling near the sewers and tunnels. The Lurkers do not act out of malice but are always plagued by a strange hunger that seems like it cannot be satiated. Due to this, their victims are usually found torn apart and shredded and feasted upon.

Lore ||With every city comes its homeless people. Most of them stayed within the underground tunnels and came out to the surface to beg for shelter and food. The incident transformed these poor people into beasts fueled by hunger- or at least, the ones on the surface were.
"Gods, these Lurkers. I recognized one wearing the coat of my friend...oh god, what happened to the people in the tunnels...?"
"...We found them. These...these things, they ate the people in the tunnels. To what extent can this cruelty go on for...?"

A horrendous beast found prowling the Old Ironworks and the tunnels below. It seemed to have come from the sewers, and it's heavily implied from its appearance that it had devoured some of the Beastly Lurkers and took on their features. The Sewer Vanguard recognizes nothing and rips anything to shreds. It has a very fiery temper, it seems.

Lore || An old pest exterminator wandered too far into the sewers of the accursed town. The Lurkers found him being almost eaten alive by mutated pests; but then they found that the pests weren't eating him, but strangely enough, conjoining to form some sort of creature.
Needless to say, the Lurkers disappeared that night.

The pests of the town have been lessening thanks to the arrival of that exterminator. Recently though, he's stopped coming back to rest...I wonder what happened?

"Give in...to memory..."

Image

Desire's Mirror

A wandering humanoid that possesses no face, replacing it with a mirror it holds in its hands. It lures people in by pretending to be a wounded survivor and once they have fallen into its trap, it uses its mirror to cast an illusion to people, forcing them to relieve either their own painful memories or deepest, darkest fears.

Lore || A gossip-spreading individual hailing from Prejudice. Growing up with a lack of positive social interaction under a very strict and masculine environment led him to be very recluse and aloof. He would constantly be berated by harsh comments, particularly about his looks until such time that he started obsessing over a mirror--thinking it's the only thing that found him beautiful.

When the curse set in, he became the clear manifestation of himself. The way he had been badly deformed though almost seemed unnatural--like it was done as an act of revenge rather than a natural development.

"RAAAAAHHHH!!!"

Image

Proprietor of Prejudice

A gigantic faceless being guarding the boundary between Outlaw City and the town of Prejudice. Unlike the other monsters, it doesn’t seem too interested in feasting on other humans—rather, it seems more occupied in keeping intruders out. Lacking any eyes, it tracks its prey using sound and smell, which allows it to follow its target even in the darkness of the underground.

Lore || He used to be Prejudice’s town mayor. His conceited and self-serving way of life along with all the ulterior motives he harbored within himself has turned him into a gross amalgamation of a monster tied down to the birthing place of its own evil.
