[OOC] PMCs

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Anno Domini on Fri Jul 23, 2010 6:55 am

This is a list of the major private military companies in Dieselpunk Devolution. They operate on a less publicized level then the corporations, but still do their fair amount of work to market themselves. While they may be regularly employed by certain clients, their ultimate allegiance lies in their paychecks, and they often operate under multiple and competing organizations simultaneously. Please note that they are not soldiers constantly at odds with one another, but rather typical business-like adults outside of battle.

Dark Wing
Origins: Comprised mainly of the former French military, while also housing special forces of the United Kingdom and their African counterparts.
Notes: Regarded as the primary police force of Western Europe. Known to be efficient and ruling, expect a legion of well trained and always uniformed soldiers. They make good use of all vehicle types and are suspected users of humanoid robots in warfare, an illegal activity that they have yet to be convicted of.
Players:

Privat Soldner Party
Origins: The remnants of the former German Empire's military, also composed of Austrian and Hungarian combat forces.
Notes: One of the original and more reserved PMCs, the PSP operates primarily in Germanic countries and is largely employed for security measures. Truer to the roots of classic warfare, they employ a number of older vehicles like Iron Clad battleships and tanks. Though highly advanced in terms of armor, the majority of their weapons aren't beyond WW1 technology.
Players:

Incision
Origins: A collection Middle-Eastern armies with roots in political extremist groups and former warring militias. Founded with an interest in adapting to the reformed and “peaceful” state in which the rest of the world now operates.
Notes: The ultimate solution to urban strongholds. Incision' forces are known for utilizing guerrilla warfare tactics and whatever means possible to accomplish their goals. They are an offensive group that employ Kawasaki products in most of their operations, and currently own the most freelance agents of active PMC.
Players:

Urban Steel
Origins: The descendant of US Army and Navy troops. Formed when the United States disbanded its military late in 1926, it has since outsourced for work from foreign contractors near and far.
Notes: Like their name suggests, Urban Steel is accustomed to operating in urban and city environments. One of the better equipped and financed PMCs, they're the driving force behind Ford's monopoly on the automobile industry and their primary tool in foreign affairs.
Players:

Armadas De America
Origins: Formed by former Mexican armed forces, in collaboration with South American forces as well.
Notes: A major collection of North and South American soldiers, the Armadas can easily be considered one of the largest PMCs in existence. Responsible for conducting law enforcement in the Americas south of the US border, it is another highly professional and successful PMC. It is believed that because of often taking contracts to American arms manufacturers, the Armadas are capable of long-range missile engagements, making them a key factor in the Aushaven War.
Players:

Advent Corps
Origins: The product of US intelligence agencies and special forces that lost funding when the government was privatized in 1924.
Notes: The primary police force of the US, funded almost exclusively by Ford. Advent Corps is the only PMC which actively works with foreign governments to ensure the practice of civil conduct in both business and warfare. It operates as an international version of the FBI and employs a number of freelance operatives who work in and out of the US to carry out investigations and procedures.
Players:

Angelic Division
Origins: Formed out of Claudius Dornier's failing business when BMW began to dominate the market in aircraft. The majority of its employees are German WW1 veterans, most of whom were in good health, though in need of work since Germany's privatized government could no longer afford veteran relief funds.
Notes: The ultimate mercenary air force on the market. The fact that the group's primary contractor is BMW, coupled with their company founder Dornier and his war plane designs, these soldiers have the utmost domination in aerial combat. Expect uniforms that can survive a plane crash, paratroopers gunning from the air, and entire bases in zeppelins high above the conflict.
Players:

Komodo Tech
Origins: Comprised of soldiers from all across East Asia. Korea, China, Vietnam and Japan are all contributors to this legion.
Notes: Acting as the police force of most all of East Asia, operating just outside the Russian border, Komodo Tech can be considered one of the most advanced PMCs in terms of sheer technology. Common among their troops are bladed weapons, robotic exoskeletons and mech walkers. While blades may not seem like enhanced technology, most involve neurological stimulants and high frequency designs that make them very formidable weapons.
Players:

Critical Nature
Origins: A security PMC formed and operated by the Russian military.
Notes: Choosing not to adopt the same capitalist ideals as the rest of the world, Russia maintained a strong socialist nature through the late reformations. As they continue to monitor, supervise, and dictate corporate activity within the nation, Critical Nature is not a true PMC, but is similarly contracted to protect major Russian businesses. Because of the limited range of activity and political restraints, the company suffers as one of the more under developed armed forces, but is blessed with a large territory from which to access nearly any other point in Eurasia. They are also one of the few PMCs to develop and employ their own experimental weaponry, with mixed results.
Players:

Aushaven Militia
Origins: A civilian uprising that began when the thriving city of Aushaven became the site of corporate warfare.
Note: Also not a true PMC, the Aushaven Militia is actually the furthest possible group from a PMC. A small army of Armenian citizens who weren't content with letting corporations treat their home as a mere battlefield, the militia are measly and weak in comparison to the large PMCs warring in their homeland. They have the advantage of home turf, but not much of anything else when it comes to combat. Most are poorly or altogether not trained, low on weaponry, and living in poverty since the start of the war.
