[OOC] Monster Guide

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby poeticjustice8012 on Thu Mar 08, 2012 8:20 am

Ok, this is pretty much where all the basic information about the various monsters and beasts and bosses we will/have faced will be kept. It's mostly for my own organization, but still. You can feel free to ask me any questions in the other OOC forum, if you don't mind... But, basically, this'll be where you know how various monsters will react. Of course they won't all be the same, but the basics will be. If you post something that deviates a little from these here (such as a certain monster being faster that it's supposed to be, for no apparent reason) I won't get mad. Making something suddenly breathe fire? Ok, yeah, we might need to chat. xD

Just a note, monsters are imaginary animals (such as a griffin). Beasts are real-life animals (bears, boars, lions) that may be larger or faster, or have special abilities. Bosses are just big, bad, and generally kick ass. All three are usually trying to kill the Avatars unless otherwise stated.

Name of Monster/Beast/Boss
Type: (Monster, Beast, Boss)
Size: (Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, Extremely Large)
Weight: (Light, Medium, Heavy, Extremely Heavy)
Speed: (Slow, Medium, Fast, Extremely Fast)
Strength: (Weak, Medium, Strong, Extremely Strong)
Intelligence: (Stupid, Average, Smart, Very Smart)
Natural Weapons: (Claws, fangs, horns, ext.)
Unnatural Weapons: (Some monsters/bosses can have armor, weapons, ext.)
Special Abilities: (Breathes fire, turns invisible, ext.)
Generic Description: (Yadda Yaddas are very fast and strong, but have the intelligence of a snail....)
Notes: (Have encountered, where it's found, ext.)
Break Me But Never Beat Me

Hell Hounds
Type: Monster
Size: Medium to Large
Weight: Medium to Heavy
Speed: Fast
Strength: Medium to Strong
Intelligence:Average to Smart
Natural Weapons: Claws, fangs.
Unnatural Weapons: N/A
Special Abilities: Can travel through shadows to teleport and move faster.
Generic Description: Hell hounds are fast and intelligent, with enough strength to put some damage behind their blows. They travel in packs of at least five, but at the most fifteen. They hunt similar to wolves, with ambushes and singling out the weakest or most vulnerable in a group. They are quite big, with the average size being about an average car, but are known to grow to be bigger than a Hummer. They know when to cut their losses, but it is much more likely that you will need to kill all of them to stop an attack. The largest is usually the pack leader, and will only go into a fight after all the other hell hounds have started fighting. They have pitch-black fur and bright yellow eyes.
Notes: Mostly attack at night, they are found pretty much anywhere there is enough food for them to survive.

Stymphalian Birds
Type: Monster
Size: Medium to Large
Weight: Heavy to Extremely Heavy
Speed: Fast
Strength: Medium
Intelligence: Smart
Natural Weapons: Bronze beaks, metallic feathers, acidic dung.
Unnatural Weapons: N/A
Special Abilities: Can shoot the feathers at enemies.
Generic Description: The Stymphalian Birds (SBs, for short) are known for speedy attacks and intelligent patterns, coming in waves of ten or twelve. They usually have flocks of about twenty, but they can also form swarms of about fifty or even sixty birds. Wherever they go they usually leave destruction, and will eat anything that moves. They usually shoot their feathers to kill, before diving in and using their beaks to finish any enemy that isn't already dead. With wing spans of about twelve to fifteen feet, they are quite large. Their metal feathers also make them incredibly heavy, though once they start loosing feathers they lighten up. The SBs are able to regenerate their feathers about five minutes after shooting them, enabling them to continue flying even after a fight. Their wings are a silver color, and they usually have gray or brown eyes.
Notes: They will attack whenever they are hungry. Also, heat does not seem to affect them, despite their feathers being metallic. Most piercing attacks do little damage; blunt force trauma is the best way to kill them.

Sand Worms
Type: Monster
Size: Small to Medium
Weight: Light to Medium
Speed: Fast to Extremely Fast
Strength: Weak
Intelligence: Stupid
Natural Weapons: Mouths full of small, razor-sharp teeth.
Unnatural Weapons: N/A
Special Abilities: N/A
Generic Description: Sand Worms burrow underneath, you guessed it, sand. They use their mouths to eat anything that gets in their way, and usually have hives of about thirty worms for safety. They are lead by a "queen", which is the largest and mostly remains underground and at the back of the ground. They are very stupid alone, easily falling into traps. They make up for it by appearing out of nowhere and leaping out of the sand, maybe three feet, and eating whatever happens to be above them. They have no eyes; instead they see by sensing vibrations in the ground. Even something as small as a heartbeat can be picked up if they are close enough. They have no idea of "stopping" and little to no consideration for their fellow worms. Once they latch onto their food, however, the only way to stop them from eating you is to slice and dice that worm until it's good and dead.
Notes: They probably will only get a few good hits in before the Avatars start figuring out how to beat them.

Ignea Equitum
Type: Monster
Size: Medium
Weight: Medium
Speed: Fast
Strength: Strong
Intelligence: Average
Natural Weapons: Hooves of flaming rock, manes of fire.
Unnatural Weapons: N/A
Special Abilities: They snort fire. They are also immune to burns and other fire-related damage, and take extra damage from water-based attacks.
Generic Description: Igenea Equitum literally means fiery horse, which is an accurate description. Similar to white stallions, they have red manes of fire and their hooves are some kind of lava rock, leaving burning hoof-prints in the sand. They stay together in herds of up to twenty, but usually no more than fifteen. They are not carnivores, but they can be extremely aggressive and take many things as a threat, leading them to sudden and unprovoked attacks. When attacking, they will not stop until it is clear they are loosing, or they are all dead. They have a pale white color and golden eyes, and are peaceful until they are under something even semi-dangerous.
Notes: Untamable. They can survive on very little water.

Sand Golems
Type: Monster
Sise: Large to Extremely Large
Weight: Medium to Extremely Heavy
Speed: Slow to Medium
Strength: Strong to Extremely Strong
Intelligence: Stupid to Average
Natural Weapons: Four limbs of solid sand, and a mouth that'll eat anything.
Unnatural Weapons: Occasionally will pick trees, other monsters, and Avatars and use them as clubs.
Generic Description: At least twenty five feet tall and ten feet thick, Sand Golems are literally just huge piles of sand with four limbs and something that resembles a head. Their eyes are black stones, and they lack teeth. Their only weapon is sheer size, and the fact that they seem to keep coming until you find a way to get rid of all the sand that makes them up. They travel alone; when two do meet, usually one ends up dying. However, if a group of three or four get together, there is a chance they will merge and create a Sand Golem that's up to a hundred feet tall and twenty wide. So I recommend keeping them apart. They are also stupid to the point of it being just painful, but they are strong enough to make fighting them a challenge.
Notes: They don't seem to eat anything actively, except things they happen to fight.

Stone Golem
Type: Monster
Size: Large to Extremely Large
Weight: Heavy to Extremely Heavy
Speed: Medium
Strength: Extremely Strong
Intelligence: Stupid
Natural Weapons: Four limbs of solid stone, and a mouth with blunt boulders as teeth.
Unnatural Weapons: Can pick up anything and use it as a club or throwing projectile.
Generic Description: Similar to their cousin, the Sand Golem, Stone Golems are bigger, badder, and stupider. As far as golems go, the Stone Golem is the largest, with the smallest being thirty feet tall and twelve feet thick. Made of solid stone, these things are incredibly hard to defeat because most weapons do not affect them. Like other golems, you must destroy what they are made of, and since they're made of stone... Well, you get what I mean. They live alone, and whenever they meet together they will proceed to beat the living crap out of the other until only one is alive. They do not combine like Sand Golems, though they don't really need to because they're already huge and difficult to fight.
Notes: I'd recommend trying to turn them to rubble by blunt force trauma. Or running away.
