Dragons in this world do not work like they do in others. First thing to know about dragons is that they can live up to 50,000 years of age, and generally are peaceful and wise by age 2,000. They also have stages of growth:
Stage 1: 0 - 100 Baby; In this stage, the dragon is growing his/her tale and wings, and beginning to learn how to use magic.
Stage 2: 101 - 300 Youngling; In this stage, the dragon is learning to be independent and how to spot dangers in the unpredictable races of Taus.
Stage 3: 301 - 550 Humanoid; In this stage, the dragon walks on two legs, has arms and small wings, is able to wield strong hand magic, and goes from the nest to the other races of Taus to learn of them and war.
Stage 4: 551 - 1500 Feared; In this stage, the dragon walks on all four appendages, is capable of using its massive wings, is about as big as a large home (depending on race of dragon), begins to be able to use breath magic while losing the ability to use hand magic, and becomes very aggressive.
Stage 5: 1501 - 3000 Mating; In this stage, the dragon transitions from violent to peaceful, and they go to an unknown place to find a mate and breed. ONLY stage of life when dragons have genitalia.
Stage 6: 3001 - Death Wise/Elder; In this stage, the dragons become far larger (often up to the size of a medium sized town), and more lazy.
