Amulets

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Chicka on Sat Jan 12, 2013 6:16 pm

Beyond the Amulet of Peace, there are countless other Amulets used in the Chessboard Kingdoms. The main Amulets are as follows:

Amulet of Strength: Worn by almost every soldier, a simple piece of glass set in iron. When the glass cracks, it has lost its magic, and a new Amulet is required. Multiples the user's strength, activated by body heat.
Amulet of Endurance: Worn by Knights and some Pawns. A piece of blue glass set in iron. Allows the wearer to require less food and sleep, activated by spitting on the glass. Works on horses as well as people, effects last about five days and works only once.
Amulet of Concealment: Worn by Rooks, a small ruby set in silver. Requires water to activate, works for exactly twelve hours before the water must be renewed. Can be used repeatedly, and allows the wearer to fashion themselves a new appearance as an illusion. Wears out easily if the silver is not kept polished, and the ruby simply falls out.
Amulet of Healing: Worn by Bishops, a small sapphire set in bronze. Activated by the Bishop's blood, this Amulet allows the Bishop who wears it to perform healing magics. It won't bring back the dead, but if a Bishop is down on supplies, they'll use one of these. Can be used up to ten times.
Amulet of Light: Worn by any rank, this amulet works like a flashlight. Mirror-glass set in gold, it is easily the most odd-looking amulet, and can be activated with fire. Skilled users may be able to heat an Amulet of Light without activating it and use the light later.
Amulet of Leadership: Worn by Kings and Queens, the Amulet of Leadership allows the user to make others believe in their words. Made of gold with a large piece of diamond set in, this works only twice, and is activated by the blood of a child.

Could one person take more than one amulet, or is there only one person per amulet ratio, in which case could a scavenger have the highest potential for gathering amulets?

One person could have more than one, it's just tricky to active more than one at a time.

so more blood does not equal more amulet power in the case of a healer?
Assuming that the blood is stretched out in equal quantities.

More blood actually can equal more power-- it takes a new Healer quite a bit of blood to heal even little injuries, where as an experienced Healer needs about the same amount to heal a broken bone. Healing a huge, gaping wound, though, that takes anyone lots of blood.

So on the battle field, a bishop can just draw blood from dead bodies, apply it to the dozens of amulets, then heal almost everything? And is human blood more patent than animal blood?

No, it has to be that Bishop's blood. All kinds of strange, twisted things happen when someone else's blood is used...

Can other blood be mixed with the bishops blood for weaker effects? of is it that if there is any blood other than the bishops that it goes wonky?

Other blood just... doesn't end well.
