"Shadowmancy is the magical manipulation of shadows, most commonly done straight from one's mind, to do one's bidding. It is a magic that should be feared, as any darkness around you becomes a solid weapon of the nearest shadowmancer. Pray that should you meet one, that they are on your side." The Arcania, 'Describing Shadowmancers', Thorin Mach'Tyri, High Mage of the School of the Arcane
Shadowmancy is a rarer magic, generally only seen in use by followers of Ruth'Patar. While others can use it, it has an almost direct connection to the deity, and as such, worshiping Ruth'Patar can increase your potential with it.
Shadowmancy also has no one use, or time of use. While most shadowmancers focus on getting power from darkness itself, they can, if skilled enough, also draw on their mana and mana of the world around them. This fact helps to make the complicated magic even more dangerous, and complicated.
There is no exact use of shadowmancy. Shadowmancy can be used to heal, form weapons and servants, chuck spells, and/or manipulate darkness itself. However, most shadowmancers start with only one or two disciplines, generally ending off knowing 3 by the end of their days.
A common side effect of shadowmancy is a distinct distaste of strong lights, mainly the sun. This, and the raw power that a master shadowmancer can wield, has led to it being one of the most feared magics around, with most outside of the beliefs of Ruth'Patar believing the magic to be evil.
