Vampires consume blood to feed their cells. They gain the necessary nutrients from human blood. The following are the common symptoms of vampires. If further explanation is needed, please don't hesitate to ask:
  • Wipe Memories: Vampires are capable of wipign the memories of humans. This way, if a blood slave is released, their memory can be wiped.
  • Skin: Their skin, obviously, is paler than normal.
  • Sensitivity to Sun: They constantly wear sunglasses in the sun and protect their flesh. They can, potentially, go blind without sunglasses. The sun blisters and burns their flesh but usually doesn't kill.
  • Heightened Senses: All five senses are much more powerful.
  • Skillful: Vampires develop new skills very quickly and easily.
  • Impulsive: Vampires are extremely impulsive when it comes to the scent or taste of blood. However, many are capable of controlling themselves after they have their fill.
  • Ageless: Once transformed, vampires cease to age physically.
  • Amount of Blood Needed: An average male, about 200 years old, requires 1.5 ounces of blood a day (about a shot glass). Older vampires will require more blood than this, though it depends upon their gluttony and the life style they lead, like in humans.
  • Mood Swings: Vampires tend to suffer from intense mood swings.
  • Eye Color: The color of a vampire's eyes changed based upon their hunger. Their eyes are a dark, blood red when sated. When starving, they become bloodshot and turn a light pinkish. When neither full or starving, they appear bright red.
  • Fangs: Vampires have retractable fangs. They extend to feed, to display dominance, or merely to relax. In older vampires, fangs are longer.
  • Shadow: Vampires lack a shadow.
  • Turning Humans: To transform a human into a vampire, a vampire tends to drain a human of most of their blood since it can not be consumed when the human transforms. Afterwards, the vampire injects venom into the human's veins. The transformation can take about a week. During this time, the fledgling will have to be cared for and fed like an infant, for they are too weak to hunt.
  • Lack of Food: Vampires grow sluggish when malnourished.
  • Reproduction: Though vampires are able to have sex, they no longer produce sex cells. Therefore, they can not conceive. The only "reproduction" is turning humans into vampires.

Vampires can be killed in the following ways:
  • Being unable to consume blood
  • Blood poisoning, or consuming tainted blood
  • Complete decapitation
  • Wooden stake through the heart

Vampire covens are not very closely knit because vampires can grow moody. Vampires who tend to stay alone usually are loosely affiliated with a coven since they make it easier to come across food. Most of the coven resides together, especially the members of higher ranks. However, they have exits and escape routes to leave their home if need be. Vampire covens are ranked the following way:

  • The Doyen is the head honcho. They are what many refer to as the vampire elder, though they are not always the oldest. However, they certainly tend to be. The Doyen does not necessarily oversee operations, but they are certainly aware and make changes if necessary. They, along with the Regent, are the two lawmakers of the coven. If the two do not agree, a Democratic vote is instated.
  • The Regent is the Doyen's right hand man (or woman). The Regent is more closely involved in overseeing operations inside of the coven. If the Doyen dies, the Regent will take over. The Regent is handpicked by the Doyen from the two prelates. Like the Doyen, they have much political power within the coven. If they are unable to agree with their Doyen, then a Democratic vote is utilized.
  • Prelates are coven leaders in training. Usually, these are older vampires who have shown exceptional leadership qualities. Like the Regent, they will often check up on operations to prepare for their future occupation. When the Regent dies or advances, they select one of the Prelates as the new Regent. Usually, it ends up going by seniority since the current Regent would have trained as a Prelate alongside the oldest Prelate. Their duties are almost the same as the Regent, but they lack political power.
  • The Head Sentry is in charge of overseeing all defense and attack plans. They keep all sentries in line and maintain order and peace in the coven. It is their job to hunt down escaped blood slaves and wipe their memory or kill them. They prevent secrets from escaping. Essentially, they are the muscle of the coven. They are ranked evenly with the Head Liaison Specialist.
  • The Head Liaison Specialist is essentially the human relations expert. They find new slaves, ask new vampires to join, and organize pick-ups of donated blood. The Head Liaison Specialist oversees everything related to this branch and reports to the Regent and Doyen. Usually, they are the one to close any human related deals. Though the Head Liaison Specialist must follow the command of the Doyen and Regent, they are allowed to reach that end goal by any means if not specified. Charisma and charm is a big must-have.
  • Sentries specialize in overseeing defense and offense. They maintain order and peace in the coven. It is their job to hunt down escaped blood slaves and wipe their memory or kill them. They prevent secrets from escaping. Essentially, they are the muscle of the coven. They are ranked evenly with Liaison Specialists.
  • Liaison Specialists are essentially human relations experts. They find new slaves, ask new vampires to join, and organize pick-ups of donated blood. Charisma and charm is a big must-have.
  • Fledglings are the newest members of the coven. A vampire usually spends a decade or two as a fledgling before finding their role. In the mean time, they will be assessed and watched closely by the Doyen, the Regent, and the Prelates to judge their abilites.
