Beastmen:
Beastmen live with almost nothing technology wise. They rarely use fire, make weapons and armor out of the iron-bark tree, and wear hides or their own fur as clothing. They house themselves in either tents, open ground, bens/burrows, caves, or carved out trees.
Humans:
Humans go about their lives with steampunk level technology. Airships are rare, and firearms even more so. They tend to live in cramped areas made out of stone and wood. Much of their lighting and machinery runs off of oil, which few know is a byproduct of the Shadow, and coal. In their cities' poor areas, the air can become extremely toxic. To counter this trees are planted in middle class and up areas, while those who operate in the poor sectors often wear gas masks.
Unlike beastmen, humans often don't like their lives. Because of this, drug use is high. The common drugs include:
Smog - A clear, hallucinogenic gas that is highly toxic, adding symptoms similar to that of meth.
Blue Leaf - A blue, ground leaf textured substance that is commonly smoked or baked into food, its oils provide a relaxant effect. In extreme doses, Blue Leaf can cause colors to begin changing at rapid rates, leaving the user both extremely happy and extremely disoriented.
Salt - The most powerful hallucinogen available, Salt is also the most addictive drug humans have. It can be taken in nearly any form, and has a horrible withdraw that consists of pain to the extent that it can make some people violent. It is nearly impossible to tell from regular table salt, until mixed with water, which Salt is unaffected by. Popular among the rich.
Tobacco - The rich man's drug. Tobacco is the only legal drug other than alcohol. Most rich people smoke it as a way to remove the feelings of withdraw between Salt uses.
Rage - A highly psychoactive drug that induces extreme feelings of rage, this drug is the result of a failed attempt to make 'super soldiers.' Rarely used by civilians, human commanders with often burn this in large fires when their men are nearing the enemy, usually another city's army.
