Valen Alus is a Demi kingdom located to the west of the Jarrah Empire and east of the Jade Ocean. It is mainly made up of desert terrain but it is not without a few forests. The mountains of the Jarrah Empire can most always be seen in the distance. There is a plentiful supply of water from the Jade Ocean.
] P E O P L E
Valen Alus houses a relatively small population made up of human magic users. They are generally a peaceful people. Most of them were once citizens of other kingdoms that were approached by Valen and offered the opportunity to live in a land of magic and enchantment. Most of the people were outcasts and misfits from their former towns. There are a fair share of farmers, merchants, and educators. They live quietly and do little trade with other kingdoms. Because of the Rulers’ past with Wishing Star Faeries, the people of this nation have been forbidden to call upon Wishing Stars for Star Faeries.

Valen Alus’s buildings and structures are mostly made of sand, stone, and clay. They keep the hot sun out and the air inside cool.
There are several temples, and palace like buildings amongst common multi-level residences.
There is a grand university of sorts that teaches black magic skills to residents of the city.
Pyramids were constructed for sacred ritual use. There is no official belief system in Valen Alus other than magic being a way of life and that Valen Mori Elen is ruler supreme in the land.
] L E A D E R S H I P
The ruler of Valen Alus is the Valen Mori Elen, the Dark Faery. He is kind and just to his people. He promotes the use of dark magic and is seen as a great teacher. His people revere him as a benevolent ruler. Only a few of them have knowledge of his past in its entirety. Newcomers to his realm must meet with him to have permission to stay for a prolonged period of time. He is open to the idea of limited trade with other kingdoms. However he is only interested in trade for things Valen Alus merchants, farmers, metalworkers, and craftsmen cannot produce. He prides his small kingdom for being mainly self-sufficient.
Lord Valen is technically a dictator since all major decisions in his kingdom must go through him. However he has delegated some power to a few trusted high ranking mages. These mages must report to him weekly about all things they have authorized. He is very aware of what goes on in his kingdom.
Valen Alus has a central palace, Alus Palace. It is the residence of the ruler. People come and go freely from the palace but it is not without its defenses. There is strong black magic there which protects it from outside threats.
] M I L I T A R Y
Valen Alus has a very small physical military presence. It is mainly made up of magicians utilizing dark magic. Because the nation is less interested in the invasion of foreign territory and the sustaining of its own, all military presence is purely defensive.
There are warrior mages that are very skilled combatants and equally competent in basic elemental magic. Their armor is light but very protective, allowing them to move swiftly and to reframe from hindering them magically.
Valen Alus is filled with black magic users. However only a small percentage of the citizens are top class magicians. The elite mages are capable of powerful magic and are called upon to enforce the laws of the land should anyone get out of hand or intruders need dealing with.
] Valen’s Magic and The Book of Cosmos
Valen Alus’s largest and most deadliest form of protection comes not from its mage based military but from its leader, Valen Mori Elen and an artifact known as the Book of Cosmos. With the Book of Cosmos in Valen’s possession he is capable of harnessing the darkest depths of his Black Magic potential. This magic is ultimately what protects the kingdom.
Valen is able to summon demonic humanoid beast guardians that will fight to the death. They are deadly in combat and loyal to their master. However they can be destroyed easily given they are struck hard enough or in the right spot.
They conquer by their overwhelming numbers and tenacity. They will also vanish if Valen is defeated, loses energy to sustain them, or concentration.
Valen is capable of a wide array of elemental manipulative phenomenon that is rooted in his black magic amplified by the Book of Cosmos.
These feats of strong black magic are powerful but brief. They cannot be sustained for a prolonged period of time. All magic comes with a price, thus Valen requires a cool down time before casting such a high level spell again. Also he must be near the manipulated area to cast the proper spell and casts are not very long in range. Large Castings are mainly used by Valen to protect his kingdom from massive threats. Valen himself uses simpler methods in his personal battles.
